St. Theodore Adjarian Sunday school is opened

St. Theodore Adjarian Sunday school was opened by the Holy Trinity Church of Batumi. Lectures about Georgian history, history of Georgian writing, literature and art will be given at the Sunday school. Besides, the students will study embroidery, knitting, sewing, culinary, painting, wood carving and chant in the school.

A course will last one academic year and it will be financed by Batumi City Hall.

Receipt of the students has already began.

Asphalting of Orbeliani street is approaching to its end

Asphalting of Orbeliani street is approaching to its end. Preparing and graveling the ground have been conducted stage by stage.

The Municipal Improvements Service carried out asphalting the Orbeliani street in three stages. 150 meters of section was left and now the works are being carried out on this section of the street.

The works are being implemented by the tender winner company “Gzebi” Ltd.

Rehabilitation of amortized lifts continues

Within the framework of the flats owners’ partnership program of Batumi City Hall, rehabilitation of amortized lifts continue.

The lift of nine-storeyed house located at #24 Inasaridze street have been repaired by “Computerland” Ltd. In accordance with the above mentioned program repairs of nine lifts in total is envisaged on the first stage. The repair works will be carried out by the tender winner company “Computerland” Ltd. Six more lifts will be repaired on the second stage.

Gel 150 000 is allocated from the municipal budget for the rehabilitation program. Repair will be carried out by co-financing principle: 90% of the total value will be covered by the municipality and 10% - by the flats owners partnership.

Rehabilitation of water and sewerage systems continue

Pharnavaz Mephe and 26 May streets crossing will be blocked for a week due to the ongoing rehabilitation works on water and sewerage systems.

Currently the reconstruction works are being carried out on Gorgiladze, Rustaveli, Vazha-phshavela and Asatiani streets.

According to the representatives of“New Energy”company, works at Rustaveli street will be finished by the end of the current month.

Infrastructure Ministry signs memorandum with Tav Georgia Company

Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has signed a memorandum of mutual understanding with the Tbilisi Airport Operator Company, Tav Georgia.
The memorandum implies imposing a privileged tariff period for those air transport companies, who make domestic flights. In the beginning, the service of passengers in Tbilisi and Batumi airports will reduce from 23 to 9 dollars. This privilege will be reflected on the prices of tickets making domestic flights affordable.

Height: 35 m
Description: The Door of the Black Sea is a future landmark for the City of Batumi. The sculpture has only what is needed, with no ornament, it represents the spirit and the tendency of the city, heading to the modernity and turning into a landmark in the Black Sea and in the world, and the arch, is the door for the new age in Batumi.
The sculpture is a steel structure formed by the union of three arches. The height of the sculpture is 35m and the width is 25m roughly. The arches are linked together with secondary elements that permit to improve structural behaviour. The arches are formed by rectangular sections (700x550x25mm and 600x450x20mm) and the secondary elements are circular sections (139.7mm with 12.5mm in thickness).
The main arch is in a vertical plane and the other two arches are in two inclined planes (12º). The three arches intersecting in a zone, creating a very interesting joint and allowing to resist strong forces from wind.

Georgia: A Trump Tower for Tbilisi?

American real estate mogul Donald Trump is considering investments in Tbilisi and the Georgian port city of Batumi, a senior executive at The Trump Organization told EurasiaNet.org.

Trump is in talks with the Silk Road Group, a real estate and transportation company with investments in Georgia and Central Asia, about development possibilities in the Georgian capital and along the country’s Black Sea coast.

Michael Cohen, an executive vice president at The Trump Organization, the private company that handles Trump’s property development and management projects, told EurasiaNet.org that he expects to travel to Tbilisi on June 22 to look at potential sites.

Neither Silk Road Group representatives nor Cohen would disclose details about the negotiations or potential sites for development.

The Silk Road Group approached Trump during President Mikheil Saakashvili’s April visit to the United States, said Giorgi Ramishvili, a founder of the company.

Similar overtures have been made to Steve Wynn, the Las Vegas-based casino-hotel tycoon. Wynn Enterprises did not respond to requests from EurasiaNet.org for comment.

Cohen confirmed that Trump met with Saakashvili for several hours in New York City and discussed Georgia’s business climate and reform process. Cohen described Trump as “very interested” in Georgia’s real estate market, among other potential investments.

Trump, best known for his reality television shows, posh golf resorts, and gravity-defying luxury hotels and office complexes, would be a catch for the Georgian government.

A deal would also be a breakthrough for the Silk Road Group, which has been active in real estate development throughout the country. The company helped bring the Radisson chain to Tbilisi and recently opened an office in New York City as part of a bid to attract high-profile investors to Georgia.

Cohen stressed that doing business in the Caucasus is “nothing new” for Trump, who has investments “all over the world.” No investment in the former Soviet Union, however, has been finalized, he added.

A 40-floor office-residential-retail complex in Istanbul is the closest such project to Georgia, based on information posted on The Trump Organization’s website.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and Nurol Insaat ve Ticaret A.S. officially opened the Sheraton Batumi Hotel.

The 203-room Sheraton Hotel is the first internationally branded hotel in the emerging Black Sea city of Batumi. The property is the second Sheraton hotel in Georgia and the other is in Tbilisi. Located on the eastern coast of the Black Sea, just minutes away from the center of Batumi and close to the international airport, the white lighthouse tower of the Sheraton Batumi Hotel has already become a landmark of the city.

The seaside city of Batumi is Georgia’s main port, located near the Turkish border at the terminus of both railway and pipelines originating in the Caucasus states. In recent years, the city has become a regional center for investment and development. In addition to a boom in its freight handling and manufacturing capabilities, Batumi is also host to a growing number of cruise ships which have included the destination on their Black Sea itineraries. Batumi boasts a sub-tropical climate and wide beach front, and is known for its coffee mills, magnolia blossoms, fruit, and fish markets.

The 2,000 m2 aquarium will replace the previous aquarium of the port and will be situated on the beach side of Rustaveli Str. adjacent to Batumi 6 May Park featuring a Dolphinarium and Zoo.

Inspired by the characteristic pebbles of the Batumi beach, continually shaped by the wash of the waves through millennia, the building stands out as an iconic rock formation visible from both land and sea. The formation constitutes four self-supporting exhibition areas where each of the four stones represents a unique marine biotype.

”The building will become a landmark and an organic reference to all elements of the sea”, explains Design Director and Partner at Henning Larsen Architects, Louis Becker. “It captures the special atmosphere by the sea and thus becomes a tribute to the power of the sea!”

Batumi Aquarium will become a modern, cultural aquarium offering visitors an educational, entertaining and visually stimulating journey through the different seas. The central, multipurpose space in connection with the aquarium features a café and retail functions and its flexible layout makes it well-suited for presentations and workshops.

Its significant expression inspired by nature will not only make Batumi Aquarium a spectacular new landmark in Georgia but also a state-of-the-art contribution to exploring life underneath the sea surface.

Seaside season officially opens in Batumi, Adjara Region

Seaside season has officially opened in Batumi, Adjara Region. Festive events are scheduled in the new boulevard of the town for today. The bass band of the Georgian Naval Academy performed in the 1,5 km-park for the first time.
Exhibition of paintings and flowers is underway in the boulevard. Local residents and guests of Batumi have opportunity to meet young artists and poets there.
In the evening the Adjarian Folklore Ensemble will hold a gala concert in the boulevard. Fireworks will finish the celebration at midnight.

U.S. Business Tycoon Trump Plans Investments in Georgia
JUNE 27, 2010
TBILISI -- A Georgian-based international company says U.S. businessman Donald Trump is planning to invest in Georgia, RFE/RL's Georgian Service reports.

Maia Lomadze, public relations manager of the Silk Road Group, told RFE/RL on June 25 that the Trump Organization will jointly work with the Silk Road Group to invest in business projects in Tbilisi and the Georgian port city of Batumi.

Lomadze added that Trump Organization Vice President Michael Cohen will visit Georgia on June 29. She said Cohen will be in Georgia for two weeks during which large-scale joint business projects will be unveiled.

Lomadze did not say what type of projects the Trump Organization and Silk Road Group are working on.

Trump reportedly discussed the possibility of investing in Georgia in April during a meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in New York City, where the Trump Organization is headquartered.

In December, Trump's ex-wife Ivana visited Georgia. The Georgian President's Office said Ivana Trump is also planning to invest in Georgia, namely, to set up a multifunctional entertainment center in Batumi.

Q: How many hotels does the chain unite?

A: Currently, our chain unites two hotels. It’s been two years since we started work on the market. We opened a hotel in Batumi exactly two years ago, which is a 16-bedroom hotel. Last winter, we opened a 39-bedroon hotel in Bakuriani. We are adding one hotel every year in every resort. Our main strategy is that we sell hotel rooms and purchasing the room is comfortable for any buyer because he will own the room the whole life that reduces vacation costs.

There are a lot of new beautiful buildings which are planned to be built, and i like some of them, but others aren't suitable to Batumi. for ex. That new aquarium. It's really good idea to build such a big aquarium in our city, but i think an outside view of it will destroy expression of Batumi. Maybe someone doesn't agree with me but, it's my opinion :)

Sometime i see buildings witch differnt collors and i think it's no buatiful. It's to much. I don't know, but I think that Saakaschwili is color fetischist ;)

Roofing over the many-storeyed houses continues

Within the framework of the flat owners partnership program, roofing over the many-storeyed houses continues in Batumi.

The works are being carried out by the tender winner companies at Khimshiashvili and Agmashenebeli streets and in Boni settlement.

In accordance with the program only the three percent of the total sum is paid by the partnership, rest of the sum is covered by Batumi City Hall.

Gel 2 170 000 is allocated from the municipal budget for the above mentioned purpose. Roofing over of 50 houses is envisaged till the end of the current year.

Rehabilitation of water and sewerage systems continues

Due to the rehabilitative works on water and sewerage systems Rustaveli and 26 May streets crossing will be blocked.

The works on a new section of road have begun today. Stage by stage are being conducted asphalting of those sections of road on which rehabilitation of underground communications had already been accomplished.

Rehabilitative works will have been finished by the end of June.

You mean you Dunno? :O I'm impressed how they expanded the ZOO. That's batumi zoo! It only had several cages before and only for monkeys and other small animals, which was secluded to onlyone CORNER of batumi on the dolphinarium side, now it's the whole east side of the lake? :O Impresssive!

Yeah I have clculated Tbilisi growth to only be 4-5% and Batumi growth is 12-15% three times as much.....not just that, Bakuriani growth is 25% twice as much as batumi :) Pretty soon poti growth will Top both cities to maybe 25%+ those percent growth are per year :) poti will come in 2012 after airport. And Anaklia and mestia have already begun growing fast....which I haven't calculated yet because google earth maps haven't been provided :) REMEMBER, ANAKLIA AND MESTIA GROWTH WILL BE DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY THE COMPLETION OF POTI AIRPORT AS IT'LL BE EASIER FOR EUROPEANS TO TRAVEL TO THE SEA AND MOUNTAINS, (so after the complestion of airport, Anaklia growth which is now maybe 50% will then DOUBLE, so will Mestia's which his considerably less because of its remoteness)....... After 3-4 Years Batumi growth will slow and Other cities will hasten....for example, kutaisi growth is speeding up and will reach or exceed batumi mark after the new parliament building will be complete :) You know how it works? Economic growth rises after reform of several fctors, law of the area, and new construction....like before batumi Airport was reconstucted, growth wasn't as strong :) After the airport, it has been easier to travel for businessmen to batumi than any other city in georgia, especially turk businessmen...now that poti airport finishes, Europeans will travel there for business trips and business negotiations will hasten from there :) Let's just hope SOMEONE doesn't get jealous ;)

Four stars for Batumi’s Era Palace Hotel

Era Palace, a hotel in Batumi, has received four stars from Global Star, a local union which provides classification for Georgia’s hotels, restaurants cafйs and pubs using a five star system.

Situated in downtown Batumi, the capital city of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the Era Palace opened in November 2009. The eight-story building has 13 rooms, two bars, a restaurant, conference room, sports club, and fitness suite, and can cater to over 80 guests. “We applied [for the classification process] two months ago, and after two audits we got our four stars,” Tiniko Zoidze, Marketing Manager of the Era Palace told Georgia Today.

According to Zoidze, prices range between 180 and 295 lari, and currently around 95 percent of the hotel’s rooms are occupied. “This week our clients are mostly foreign businessmen who value our service. We think that the hotel will see its busiest period from the end of July through to the end of August,” she said.

Global Star is a local partner of the international Hotelstars Union, which classifies European hotels in order to boost tourism and provide standards across the industry. The organization is made up of 39 associations from approximately 24 European countries. In March, Global Star signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Georgian Ministry of Economic Development, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports to award star ratings to Georgian businesses. The process is being overseen by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The criteria used to evaluate Georgian hotels and restaurants are based on standards established by the Hotelstars Union, which provides 270 criteria, including infrastructure and service to award stars. Applications are voluntary.

Tourism in Adjara has grown rapidly in recent years. Adjara, and in particular Batumi, has undergone a major program of reconstruction since 2003. At the moment, over 120 hotels operate in the region and 18 more are expected be completed over the next three years.

In an apparent move to stimulate interest in Georgia’s Black Sea resorts, and to promote the tourism industry as a whole, both central and local government have joined forces to publicize the region. Recently, Adjara has played host to a range of jazz festivals, concerts and international film festivals. A wide variety of music and entertainment events are also planned for the coming season.

some things are really going on slowly, so lets see! for Azerbaijan i only can say that the pace of construction and the size o projects and also the quality of the buildings, not only houses, hotels but streets, bridges etc are just unbeliveble high good and high!

Georgia can dream about the pace of constructing and the budget of our Azeri Brothers!

Anyway I like the attitude of Georgia in strenthening other cities especcially Batumi for this moment. It means a lot for your country. As I told, Baku is developing rapidly and has many different kind of projects but Baku and Absheron peninsula is not the whole Azerbaijan. The government of Azerbaijan do build up new infrastructure in other cities as well but I wish to see a city which could be a rival to the capital. In case of Batumi I see already a strong rival to Tbilisi and this fact is really good! ;)

Yeah I forgot to touch up on that: Since Baku's the one with most of the oil, baku hosts most businesses, Azerbaijan should diversify like georgia did. Our oil is not exported but everything else is, all the argicultural products, and tourism, which is major there! I can give you hints galandar but can't persuade aliyev :)))) Armenia, being a LAND LOCKED COUNTRY is still in better condition than georgia, but that's because they had strong growth since the war. Their strong growth is supplemented by heavy mineral trade. Azerbaijan is indeed landlocked but has a coast with 5 other countries surrounding it. You can set up better trade of more diversity there, what is cheap to europe from georgia would be cheap to middle asia from Azerbaijan. I heard that ya'll are building one ski resort in the mountains of Quba, which is great, you ca nattract cheap skiing for dagestanis, uzbeks, turkmen, other azeris especially bakuers, I'm sure 2 million people of baku can afford more than 1.5 million of Tbilisi. Also you can ship cheap tea to TUrkmenistan, uzbekistan kazax and russia. not just tea, citrus, rice, fruit, and whatever they can't grow because of their arid climate. I'm sure citrus from azxerbaijan to there would be cheaper than citrus coming all the way from batumi area. You can also set up Lenkoran as a major vacationing resort,set up more attractions, theme parks, aqua parks, (I haven't seen ANY aqua parks so far in azerbaijan, not even in Baku) We have 2 already :) You guys have such beautiful mountains, and in 3 areas! Mountains in lenkoran can be used for cooling off getaways. And there are old areas where ancient people lived in the quba mountains, near bazarduzu, you can ste up special tourist attractions there.....and that finger mountain? on the north coast? Anyways, azerbaijan has more land to work with, even though half is flat, it still can do a lot to diversify. Other than fossil fuels, I dunno your mineral info so I can't comment on that. On top of that you can develope a lot of products from oil..like azerbaijan plastic corporation, more jobs. 300 komisar also has oil, why not develope business office buildings there....vaseline, jet fuel, diesel. CLOTHING FACTORY :)))) Polyester is oil. Anyways, forgot to say that you have almost as good of a hydroeletric potential as we do, so many rivers in the zaqatala area. HYdroelectric power, currently 70% of your electricity is oil or gas powered, why not HES it? What about SOLAR? Thanks a lot for so many advices yet I would like to clarify some points! :)

1. Agriculture.

Azerbaijan exports agricultural products especially vegetables and fruits much. The main markets are Russia and Ukraine but some products go also to Central Asia (mainly Kazakhstan). Most of the cytrus fruits are exported also to Russia.
We used to import wheat from Ukraine and Kazakhstan, now we produce enough for ourselves so no need to import.
We have opened many factories like biggest in the region sugar factory in Imishli (so no need to import but to export sugar), some juice factories including one pomegranate factory with premium juice exported even to Canada and USA, already 5 milk factories producing all kind of milk products and yoghurts. The latest opened was ice-cream factory in Lankaran which is aimed also to export its products.
We also have can factories producing salty cucumber, pea.., fish, caviar... Fish and caviar is state monopoly "Caspian Fish factory".
As for tea factories they operate in Lankaran and we export most of the products mostly to Russia and Central Asia.

2. Tourism

Azerbaijan has never been a tourist destinations unlike Georgia. Northern part of Absheron peninsula and Nabran (close to Russian border) are sea tourism with beaches, hotels, sanatoriums and private houses. Most of the hotels are newly-built but there is still a big need in them. As for aquaparks, there are several in Azerbaijan. 1 city aquapark in Baku, 4 aquaparks close to different beaches of Baku and 1 the biggest one in Nabran. So there are 6 ones at the moment.
There were winter ski resorts in Georgia and Armenia while zero in Azerbaijan. So we have decided to build the biggest on in South Caucasus winter-summer resort at Shakhdag mountain (near Qusar). It will include some sport complexes for winter sports.
As you said our main expectation for tourists are Russia, Iran and Central Asian countries for now. Later on we will try to attract more from the West.

P.S. As for Armenia, this country is an agressor for us and no diplomatic and economic relations with them are possible until the final solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

VERY SORRY FOR OFFTOP!!!

Thanks a lot for so many advices yet I would like to clarify some points! :)

1. Agriculture.

Azerbaijan exports agricultural products especially vegetables and fruits much. The main markets are Russia and Ukraine but some products go also to Central Asia (mainly Kazakhstan). Most of the cytrus fruits are exported also to Russia.
We used to import wheat from Ukraine and Kazakhstan, now we produce enough for ourselves so no need to import.

this is exactly development we're talking about...I just gave some pointers and he replied, no big deal.

Galandar, impressive, I never knew so much was going on there...especially about aqua parks. ONe thing is for sure, aqua park area should have been built outside of the city of baku, way outside, such as ganja or so. would've diversified better. That's what georgia has, we even have the cicinatela theme park with roller coasters near kobuleti. was built in 2007.Some rides are even better than American ones. You guys should push for better tourism in the historic hereti area also, this way each area of azerbaijan will have something to show like sighnaghi in georgia in the east, gudauri and mestia in the north, batumi in west, and tbilisi in center. :)

Georgian Properties UK is changing is updating its website, if anybody has any properties we need to include in Batumi or other cities please let me know. And I apologise if any links don't work I will update everything as fast as I can as time allows, but a family member had a stroke last week and my sister is due to give birth to her third child in the next week so i may be delayed updating it. Batumi plaza is the latest project I have included and it looks really good. I will add more information on it tomorrow.

Foundation of the new 16 floor dwelling house construction is laid in Batumi

Company "Orbi-Anagi" is constructing new hotel type dwelling house on Kobaladze Street. This is the first construction in Batumi where the flat owners simultaneously become the business partner.

The construction was opened by Levan Varshalomidze. The Chairman of Government of Adjara laid the foundation together with singer - Sopho Nijaradze.

The singer signed the contract of buying the flat on 15-th floor of constructed dwelling house.

The houseroom capacity of the new dwelling house is 18 thousand square meters. 500 workers are employed at the project that will be implemented in 15 months.

The constructions of two more dwelling houses of such type are planned soon in Batumi. More than 1000 workers will be employed at the projects.

Georgian French sides discuss air reforms

Georgian and French sides are discussing Georgian air reforms in the seaside town of Batumi, in Adjara Region. Georgian Minister for Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia is holding meeting with representatives of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Kirsten Theil and George Fergun.
The minister made a proposition of bringing new companies into the Georgian market. She said, the companies should provide lower costs for international flights.
Furthermore, the sides discussed the guarantees ICAO has given the Georgian side.
The organization refuses to grant international code to Georgia`s occupied region of Abkhazia for international flights.

Letter from Batumi

When I last visited Batumi, the Soviet empire was in its final death throes. Nestled around a fine Black Sea harbor, Batumi had every appearance of a place that had seen finer days. It was grimy, dimly lit, and poorly maintained, the handful of turn-of-the-century Mediterranean-style villas being overtaken by disheveled apartment blocks of the Krushchev era. My handlers insisted on a tour of the city’s principal landmark: a decrepit oil refinery, the beacon of Adjara’s entry into the industrial age. The refinery was filthy and in obvious disrepair, boasting technology at least fifty years out of date, and the casual pollution associated with it was appalling, forcing the natives to avoid the oil-stained beachfronts and polluted waters.

Jumping forward twenty years, I find the city marvelously transformed. The oil refinery has disappeared. In its place is a splendid emerging resort. Long beaches are packed with tourists, the sea is filled with swimmers and boaters, and the sky overhead with hanggliders. Their revels are interrupted only by the steady sound of jackhammers, because Batumi is also in the midst of a construction boom.

Sheraton has now opened the city’s new landmark: a hotel constructed in imitation of the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria. Radisson and Kempinski are also putting finishing touches on hotels, each a glass-covered geometric wonder. Smaller hotels and b&bs sprout in nearly every block of the old city. Batumi is emerging as the Black Sea’s newest and poshest resort.

Batumi sits at the heart of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (in Russian, Adzharia) one of three enclaves inside Georgia that existed more under the sway of Moscow than Tbilisi in the republic’s early years. Each of these enclaves followed a similar pattern—democratic reforms were kept at bay by a local petty dictator, operating with Moscow’s blessing and support. The economy stagnated and change was a distant dream. However, the Adjarans—unlike the Abkhaz and the Ossetins, the nominal ethnic groups in the other two enclaves—had no difficulty identifying themselves as Georgians. Their distinctiveness lay essentially in the legacy of centuries as a part of the Ottoman empire: most of the population had converted to Islam. In the wake of Georgia’s Rose Revolution, however, a strong youth movement in Adjara demanded the ouster of the Moscow-loyal local rulers and reunification with Georgia. A quick and relatively bloodless uprising led to the accomplishment of this goal in 2004.

At this point there’s little reason to doubt that the Adjarans made the right move. Money began to flow into the region, and Batumi’s population spurted to 200,000, with some boosters expecting it to double within the coming decade. A magnificent five-mile long esplanade has been constructed directly behind the beachfront, filled with pavilions, restaurants, bandstands, dancing fountains, and a disco copied from one in St. Tropez. One section caters to youth sports, with skateboarding courses and sports courts. The entire city seems to sit in the midst of a forest of palm trees—in part the largesse of the emir of Abu Dhabi, who donated 18,000 date-palms to support the city’s redevelopment as a resort.

Batumi also plays a key role as the starting point for a new transit corridor from Europe across the Black Sea and by truck from Turkey on for 400 kilometers to Tbilisi, and then on to Baku and the Caspian Sea. An Autobahn-style highway is being planned, together with a high-speed rail line (the first station for which, mimicking the style of the French TGV station at Paris-Charles De Gaulle Airport, has just opened in Batumi). The corridor will carry consumer goods from Europe and energy and natural resources from the Caspian littoral and Central Asia.

Batumi’s transformation has been driven by energetic young local leaders, strongly backed by Georgia’s somewhat autocratic president, Mikheil Saakashvili. He started his career as a Wall Street lawyer before returning home. Saakashvili counts among his advisors a senior foreign-policy counselor from John McCain’s presidential campaign, the son of a prominent former Democratic governor, and the son of French philosopher André Glucksmann. “My critics call this Saakashvili’s phallus,” he said, laughing and pointing to a tall glass structure called the “frozen fountain.” “But maybe they just have fountain-envy.” Reading Russian press accounts, you’d think Saakashvili was a nutcase detested by his own people. But on a stroll down the Batumi esplanade, shouts of “Misha!” went up as he was thronged and greeted by adoring young people, many of them pleading for the chance to have their picture taken in his company. The people of Batumi have also given him a new nickname—“Misha the Builder.” In a conversation at a bar that evening, a fifty-something Georgian businessman told me that he resented the way his generation had been brushed from power by the Rose Revolution, but he couldn’t deny feeling admiration for the way the “kids” had transformed country. “They have a different vision of what was possible. And they are turning it into reality. I never imagined this could happen in my lifetime.”

Tourists from Azerbaijan and Armenia increase

In the first 6 months of 2010 almost 800,000 tourists entered Georgia. The largest numbers are from Armenia and Azerbaijan, 223,000 Azeri holidaymakers and 160,000 Armenians, both figures much higher than in the same period of last year.

Almost half a million tourists from CIS countries have visited Georgia so far this year. There have also been 17,000 tourists from Asia, 10,000 from America and 1,000 from Africa. So far there has been an increase of over 200% in tourist numbers compared with the same period of last year.

Construction of Baku-Batumi autobahn to start in 2012

Baku, Fineko / abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev paid yesterday a working visit to Batumi, Georgia, where in particular he had talks with his Georgian counterpart Mikhail Saakashvili.

The latter stated that they touched the matter of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.

"We have raised the issue of coordination. We are working together on implementation of this project and are going to realize it,” President Saakashvili said.

Earlier Azerbaijan gave a $200 million loan to Georgia for construction within the project.

"Besides, a Baku-Batumi road project s to be realized in 2012. It will be a 4-lane highway to run from Azerbaijan to the b order with Georgia and further. It means that exit from the city of Rustavi located near Tbilisi will become easier and it will take only 18 minutes to travel from one city to another. The highway will make easier access to the border of Azerbaijan. Using this way, you can go even to Istanbul. The number of Azerbaijanis coming to rest to Batumi will also increase due to this highway construction.One of the Azerbaijani companies decided to build a high-class hotel in Batumi,” the Georgian leader said.

In the course of the Batumi trip President Aliyev also visited infrastructure projects planned in the city.

Coastal reinforcement works to start near Batumi International Airport

Levan Varshalomidze examined coastal reinforcement works near Batumi International Airport. "The new project will be prepared on the autumn of this year according to the reinforcement of the coastal line of Adjara will be always possible in the future", - Levan Varshalomidze noted.

At the moment 6 kilometer part of coastal line will be reinforced. Works are implemented by the joint-stock company "Tbilisi". The company will put 100 thousand cubic meter sluggish materials on the territory nearby new boulevard for the sum of Gel 420 thousand.

20 locals are employed at the reinforcement works.

Georgian president opened a new statute in the seaside town of Batumi, Adjara Region on Saturday. Upside Down by architecture Gela Tsuladze was installed in the boulevard of Batumi. The architecture said the Upside Down in Love has an interesting concept as a seaside resort is the destination, where the love starts most often.
Mikheil Saakashvili talked about lengthening of the boulevard of Batumi after unveiling the new statue.
`Batumi is becoming a centre of arts. Best performers are arriving here, statues are being erected by those people, who erect them in the world`s best places. This boulevard itself is one of the best in Europe and with Levan Varshalomidze (Governor of Adjara Region) we have decided to lengthen the boulevard by 8 kilometres to Kvariati village. The length of this boulevard will become 20 kilometres. Number of tourists in Adjara has already exceeded 400 thousand. This is an absolute record. With this kind of speed we will be able to attract about 900 thousand guests that can bring GEL 1,5 billiard to the Georgian budget. These funds will be intended for local population to help them open cafes and family hotels and create new jobs. It will also support the trade and agriculture to develop further. We have achieved positive results in Adjara and in the next year we may have double or even more tourists here`, the president said.

Two new monuments to open in Batumi Boulevard

The President of Georgia and the Chairman of Government of Adjara sighted the monuments "Upside Down" by architect Gela Tsuladze and "Where" by the French architect installed in the new boulevard of Batumi. "Such monuments are installed in the cities of Europe and Batumi become one of them today", - Mikheil Saakashvili announced.

The President of Georgia was interested on the number of tourists in Adjara. According to the statement of the Chairman of Government of Adjara by the current statistics the number of tourists exceeded half a million.

Batumi Boulevard to Reach Kvariati

The FINANCIAL -- Henning Larsen Architects has won first prize in the invited competition for a new aquarium in the Georgian seaport of Batumi. The 2,000 m2 aquarium will replace the previous aquarium of the port and will be situated on the beach side of Rustaveli Str. adjacent to Batumi 6 May Park featuring a Dolphinarium and Zoo.

Inspired by the characteristic pebbles of the Batumi beach, continually shaped by the wash of the waves through millennia, the building stands out as an iconic rock formation visible from both land and sea. The formation constitutes four self-supporting exhibition areas where each of the four stones represents a unique marine biotype.

”The building will become a landmark and an organic reference to all elements of the sea”, explains Design Director and Partner at Henning Larsen Architects, Louis Becker. “It captures the special atmosphere by the sea and thus becomes a tribute to the power of the sea!”

Batumi Aquarium will become a modern, cultural aquarium offering visitors an educational, entertaining and visually stimulating journey through the different seas. The central, multipurpose space in connection with the aquarium features a café and retail functions and its flexible layout makes it well-suited for presentations and workshops.

Its significant expression inspired by nature will not only make Batumi Aquarium a spectacular new landmark in Georgia but also a state-of-the-art contribution to exploring life underneath the sea surface.

На берегу моря в грузинском порту Батуми появится аквацентр общей площадью 2000 кв. метров, который заменит старый аквариум.

Дизайн здания подсказан формой, которая характерна для гальки батумского пляжа, веками шлифовавшейся морскими волнами.

The first “Goodwill” supermarket opens in Adjara

On August 3, in Batumi on Chavchavadze St. 3, the first “Goodwill” supermarket opened its doors to customers. The new branch of the chain was opened by Nugzar Maghularia, General Manager of “Goodwill” and Batumi Mayor, Robert Chkhaidze. Representatives of local government and Goodwill’s partner companies attended the opening.

According to the management of Goodwill, the new supermarket occupies 500 sq. m. of space, employs over 100 people and represents and investment of half a million Euro. The money was spent on a confectioners, and a production line enterprise equipped with cutting edge machinery, modern infrastructure, updated programming and improved techniques for keeping products fresh.

“As promised, the Goodwill network has started to expand to the regions. We arranged the opening of the first store in Batumi to coincide with the holiday season, creating more shopping opportunities not only for the local population but to visitors as well. The new branch will work 24-hours a day and it will sell up to 12,000 varieties of European quality products. Customers will also have the opportunity to buy a range of delicious dishes prepared by the Goodwill cooks,” said Nugzar Maghularia, General Manager of Goodwill.

He also added that for one month after the day of the opening the supermarket will be offering a promotion to customers, under which all cold and frozen products will be sold at a discount, and those who buy 150 Lari worth of products will receive branded thermo-cups as gifts. Furthermore, customers of the Batumi Goodwill will be able to benefit from the “Top1,000” promotion where 1,000 essential household items will be guaranteed for the cheapest price. As with all Goodwill stores, the Batumi store will offer customers its loyalty card and “unicard”.

Goodwill is the first hypermarket in Georgia, which works in a totally different format to the rest of the South Caucasian market. Two new gas-stations of "Socar - Georgia Petroleum" to open in Batumi

Two new gas-stations at the entrances of Batumi, in Bartskhana and Gonio were opened today by the general-director of "Socar-Georgia Petroleum" - Maiar Mamedov together with the Chairman of Government of Adjara - Levan Varshalomidze.

There will be cafe, supermarket and sport gym at the gas stations. 40 locals and citizens of Azerbaijan living in Batumi are employed at the gas-station. After opening of cafe and supermarket the number of employees will increase on more 40 persons.

"Socar-Georgia Petroleum" already opened 42 gas-stations in Georgia, 8 of them are on the territory of Adjara.

I Spoke to the President about Potential Trump Condominium, Trump Tower or Trump Palace

Q: Which of the assets you have seen in Tbilisi and Batumi has you mostly impressed?
A: All properties are very nice. In general, the whole country is very nice. Right now I am gathering comprehensive information on all relevant assets. The issue is of a large-scale economic deal. I will go into the deal to determine its real potential and discuss it with Mr. Trump. It is upon Mr. Trump to make an ultimate decision.
I think Mr. Trump will be interested in developing a Trump Tower in Georgia.
Q: Which of the cities have you found the most interesting?
A: I was exceptionally impressed by Batumi, where Mr. President Mikheil Saakashvili and senior officials gave me a personal tour in the town. I like Saakashvili’s vision and the city development plans. Your president is an extraordinary person. He is a talented person. He is very active and he has already done several surprising things in your homeland. Mr. Trump has also noticed this and that’s why I am visiting Georgia.
My friends have showed me photos of the three-year-ago Batumi …Batumi three years ago and Batumi today – there is a complete difference. It is unbelievable to do so much in three years. I was especially impressed by the dancing fountains. I have not met them even in New York.
Q: How many projects do you plan to submit to The Trump Organization managers? And what fields and sectors would you suggest them for making investments in?
A: I have seen several sites and liked them very much. There is one special site in Tbilisi and another, I actually like very much, is located in Batumi. I am sure Mr. Trump would appreciate these two sites. At the same time, we have to determine what can and should be done of those special sites and whether these sites make sense for the economic development.
As for projects, casinos, hotels, condominiums are the things of really much interest of Mr. Trump.
Q: What procedures should investment proposals pass to reach the desk of Mr. Trump and what criteria should business proposals meet to be approved by The Trump Organization?
A: There are many procedures and criteria, not one or two. Let’s say, there is a multitude of criteria for evaluation I can apply prior to discussing the sites with Mr. Trump. At the same time, the interesting thing is Mr. Trump approves only one project, but the OK does not necessarily mean the project will take place.
Going forward and doing something are two different aspects. Currently, we are exploring the market to select one of the projects in either Tbilisi or Batumi. As soon as an ultimate decision has been taken, a development team with a multitude of people will come back here in Tbilisi or Batumi to learn the market tendencies, the capability of the site, the costs for either acquiring or developing the site, as well as the profits that can be derived from the site.
Q: What has drawn your special interest in Georgia?
A: I have found an interesting thing in Georgia that high net worth individuals do not live in any specific properties. I am trying to find condominiums or apartments of the type the Trump buyers would be looking for in Tbilisi. For example, in New York there is Trump Park Avenue and it is a extremely high-priced and high-valued property. Everyone living that buildings are individuals with very high net worth. You have many high net worth individuals in Tbilisi as well. These people are not just Tbilisi residents. Part of them comes from Turkey, while another part comes from Russia or other countries to do business here in Tbilisi. Where do these millionaires live? There are many billionaires too. Why do not they have beautiful homes in the suburbs or the hills here? Where do they live in Tbilisi, where are their apartments? They do not have them. What I have found is that they live in buildings that do not reflect their net worth.
I have found another interesting thing when I spoke to the President in Tbilisi about the potential Trump Condominium, Trump Tower or Trump Palace. He thought the idea was fabulous. There would be a very high complex with two hundred apartments and a sports facility, security and concierge services, all the things the world expects from the Trump Organization. President Saakashvili thought it was a very fabulous idea and he did think that two hundred apartments would actually be enough for that great demand here in Tbilisi.
Q: Is it possible to name even an approximate amount of expected investments in Georgia?
A: The Trump’s investment potential is very huge. The list of his investments is too long, lots and lots of zeros.
Q: How would you evaluate the current investment risks in Georgia?
A: Any development faces risks. The risk arises when you build something and it does not sell. Maybe, your building cannot meet the public expectations, for instance, it is too high contrary to their demands and expectations. This issue is one of the reasons for my visiting Georgia. I am trying to learn more about Tbilisi and about the Georgian culture, the range of your interests, distinct individuals with net worth to define whether the Georgian market is favorable for sale a Trump apartment. A Trump apartment is not designed for everybody. It is for only a certain socioeconomic class. And the idea of constructing a Trump Tower in Tbilisi is motivated by the intention of uniting all those, who come from the mentioned socioeconomic worth to live of what they already have and come to something, what is so superior, or something that not only provides you with beautiful home, but it is also a quality of life that is not realized of any other builder.
There was an newspaper article quoting my words in New York: “ONCE YOU LIVE IN TRUMP BUILDING, YOU CANNOT LIVE ELSEWHERE”
Q: Do you live in a Trump building?
A: Yes I do. My parents and my father-in-law and mother-in-law also live in a Trump building.
Q: How long have you been working with Mr. Trump?
A: For three Years.
Q: You are visiting Georgia by the invitation of Silk Road Group, which has introduced you with various assets. Anyway, do you expect The Trump Organization to show interest in other fields too beyond the proposals and offers of Silk Road Group?
A: What I have talked above concerns the assets of Silk Road Group. I was invited by Silk Road Group to come and take a look at their sites and I have done that. Anyway, if Mr. Trump finds these properties not worthy for making investments, somebody else, including landowners or developers here in Tbilisi may offer other assets or something interesting and in this case I will come to discuss these new offers.
During my visit to Tbilisi I also met with other property group. I have already received two more requests, for example, a wonderful site on Chavchavadze Avenue, which may be considered a potential site for the Trump development. This is a large site. This group owns three or four assets. I liked the site very much from the logistics point of view.

Batumi Aquarium is inspired by the characteristic pebbles of the Batumi beach – the residue of dynamic seas continually shaping the shorefront throughout millennia. The building will be situated in the Georgian port of Batumi and will stand out as an iconic rock formation – visible from both land and sea.

The formation constitutes four self-supporting exhibition areas where each of the four stones represents a unique marine biotype – the Aegean Sea & the Mediterranean Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Black Sea & the Red Sea and finally the more interactive exhibition.

Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili attended the presentation of the Batumi Boulevard Development project in Batumi today. The six kilometres-long section of the boulevard will be prolonged with another 6-kilometre section. In the end of the project, Batumi will have Europe`s longest, 20 kilometre-long boulevards, which will pass Batumi and go along Kvariati, Gonio and other resorts of the Black Sea.
The Adjara government has already spent nine million GEL on the works carried out for boulevard development.
President said at the presentation, that the planned and scheduled development of Batumi was unique as well as the number of investments from the state funds.
President said these projects of infrastructure development aimed at attracting more tourists to Adjara.

The presentation of the sea-side park development project in the new boulevard of Batumi

"The most wide, long and most beautiful boulevard in Europe", - so styled the president of Georgia Batumi Boulevard at the presentation of the sea-side park development project.

In bounds of the project new residence buildings will be constructed on the territory of the shooting-range in Gonio and rubbish dump in Adlia. For pedestrians new 600 meter bridge will be constructed on Chorokhi River. It is also planned to arrange new recreation park on the sea-side of Kvariati. "Simultaneously will be rehabilitated the water and sewerage systems in Gonio, Sarpi and Kvariati", - the Chairman of Government of Adjara announced.

At the moment Batumi Boulevard is 6 kilometer long. It will be prolonged till Sarpi and the length will become 20 kilometers. The works on the territory of 650 hectares have already begun. The construction of connecting highway between Batumi International Airport and New Boulevard is completed.

When this city is built, we mustn't hurry and must plan everything in such a way that we will have many parks and much public space in order to have good living conditions. What has already been done in Batumi is one tenth of what should be done in future. No place is planned like this place, no place will have so much public space like this. No place is invested by the government as it is done here and there is no other private sector expressing so much enthusiasm", the President of Georgia stated.
Together with the longest boulevard in Europe there will be the longest pedestrian bridge constructed on the river Chorokhi. The project of the modern bridge is ready.

Tourism school may open in Georgia

24 hours writes that a tourism school may open in Georgia. The Chief of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Maia Sidamonidze presented the priorities of the department`s work on Friday. “It will be important to have a school like that where bachelors as well as masters degree certificates will be given after graduation. This will promote the improvement in the quality of tourism in Georgia,” Sidamonidze said.

Sidamonidze said that the tourism department will ask international as well as local experts to write a strategy and added that there are plans to create a tourism alliance for the Caucasus region, which will increase tourism in alliance member countries. According to Sidamonidze, as a result of creating a tourism alliance, a special tourist package will be prepared for local and foreign tourists to visit the region. Sidamonidze says that they are going to offer Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey the opportunity to form the joint alliance.

Maia Sidamonidze talked about the necessity to develop a proper infrastructure for tourism, raising the level of service sector, developing internal tourist tours, increasing the contribution of tourism to the economy, encouraging small and middle businesses for creating jobs.

All these points were the main priorities of the project that helped Miss Sidamonidze win the contest for the vacancy of the Chief of Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The project was presented to about 80 tourist companies from the private sector as well as the media.

‘Trump Tower’ will be built in Georgia, President of Georgia and American businessman Donald Trump spoke about it on the meeting at Trump’s office . The project ‘Sakanela’ will be carried out in Tbilisi and then in Batumi or Bobokvati. Memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed on the meeting.
President of Georgia informed Trump about projects being implemented in Batumi. The businessman called Batumi ‘city of European style’. Trump said that ‘everyone speaks about this man – Saakashvili and then about Georgia’.

Civil.Ge -- President Saakashvili met with U.S. real estate tycoon Donald Trump in New York on September 21 to discuss the billionaire’s potential investment in Georgia.

Saakashvili’s press office reported that the Trump Organization, company in charge of Trump’s property development and management projects, would invest in development of Trump Tower in Georgia.

An exact location has yet to be identified; potential sites include Tbilisi and Adjara Autonomous Republic on Black Sea coast, according to the Georgian President’s administration.

Saakashvili first met with Trump to discuss investment opportunities in Georgia in April, 2010.

A visit of the Trump Organization’s executive vice-president, Michael Cohen, followed in July, who toured several sites for potential projects in Tbilisi and Batumi. The trip was arranged by Silk Road Group.

Silk Road Group, Georgian conglomerate with business interests in transportation, telecommunications, banking and property development, will act as the Trump Organization’s local partner in Georgia.

All the time I was interested with most interesting for me project - Freedom Torch in Batumi. If this building will be built, i think it would be one of the best in the city. But unfortunately i can't fin any infrormation about it. maybe this project was abolished. Does anybody know anything about it?

This is the formula 3 circuit project around Fountain Boulevard in Batumi and I heard that this is under construction (for some more Information look here http://www.cmdingenieros.com/03_proyectos_en.php?PID_categoria=3&ID_categoria=14&ID_proyecto=299). Stadium is still under construction:).

Georgian Alphabet Tower to be constructed in Black Sea town Batumi

In the seaside park of Georgia`s Black Sea resort Batumi an alphabet tower will be constructed next to the beacon in five months. 33 letters of the Georgian alphabet will be placed along the iron construction. Each letter will be 7 metres.
A spheral glass construction will be placed on the top of the tower. Rotating restaurant making one full turn in 60 minutes will be constructed inside the glass sphere. TV studios and an observatory will also be placed inside the sphere. The tower will have four elevators.
Georgian President laid Wednesday foundation for the tower. Mikheil Saakashvili also got familiarized with the plan of the construction.
`We are opening constructions of Batumi Eiffel tower today. We have commissioned the construction company to build it in five months. State and private investments have been made into it. Within the next days, construction of Batumi funicular railway will also start on Pheria Mountain. So, Batumi will have funicular and TV mast. There will be TV studios there, also very interesting rotating restaurant as it is in the world`s best destinations. But the main thing is that the idea implies to be a monument to the Georgian alphabet there. It resembles nothing. The main idea is that the Georgian alphabet is our DNA, our genetic code. The TV mast itself has been intended as genetic code and it looks like no other masts in the world`, Saakashvili said.

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili laid foundation for construction of ‘Alphabet Tower’ in Batumi .
According to President’s decree, the construction must be completed in 5 months.
‘We start building ‘Batumi Eiffel tower’ This is state and private investment. Batumi funicular will be built soon on Peria Mountain. Negotiations are under way with ‘Dopelmaier’ to make cableway to Funicular. Batumi will have a funicular and tower, that will have Georgian alphabet engraved on it,’ President noted.
He states that the tower will be large monument of Georgian alphabet. ‘This is monument of Georgian alphabet. Georgian alphabet is our genetic code,’ Saakashvili noted.
Tbilisi Mayor and head of Adjarian government Levan Varshalomidze also took part in lying foundation for the construction.

President of Georgia Set up Building the Monument of Georgian Alphabet in Batumi

Today the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili set up building of the monument of Georgian alphabet together with the mayor of Tbilisi and the head of Adjara government in Batumi. The 130metres monument will be set in a Boulevard and it will have a shape of a tower. The letters of the Alphabet will be consequently arranged on it. There will be positioned a restaurant, cafes, an observatory and a TV -studio, which will stand for a mast. During an hour the monument will rotate completely and any wisher will be able to sight the views of Batumi . As the President stated , building the monument of the Mother Tongue will have to be finished within 5 months.
" Today we are going to start building the Batumi "Eifel" tower and the builders were given five-months term. Building is being realized by state and private investments. Building a funicular will be started in Peria Mountain in the upcoming days. The negotiations are being conducted with "Dopelmayer " on establishing a ropeway. As a result, Batumi will have a funicular as well as a mast, where TV-studios, a rotating restaurant will be placed- as it is in the best places of the world. The main idea is this to be the monument of Georgian alphabet. The Georgian alphabet is our DNK , our genetic code , approximately, the mast will have the image of a genetic code. If you survey more closely, it does not look like any other mast of the world , that is not because there is featured the Georgian alphabet on it. There will be opened a huge monument of Georgian alphabet. Besides, Tbilisi will not be the only place owning a mast and a funicular in Georgia," - President of Georgia stated.
Today the President swam more than 3 km in the warmest sea near Batumi yacht-club. Mikheil Saakashvili compared climatic data of various places, including European resorts to Batumi via i-Pad. The President mentioned that during 6 months of a year swimming and sunbathing is possible in Adjara. A wisher will be able to have a holiday on winter resorts as well.
"I checked temperature and humidity on the best resorts of the world in these very moments. Everyone says Batumi is very damp. Now the temperature is 29°C in Batumi, humadity-42°C. There is 22°C, while the humidity reaches to 68°C. in Bodrum - much more than in Batumi. The temperature in Yalta is 18°C and humidity -67°C. In Nice there is 6°C and humidity 53°C.This explains why the occupier is watching our earth with envy and why he wishes to seize it. The place where swimming season continues for 6 months - from the end of May till November 11 is very rare. You know skating in Mestia is possible even now, by the way during six months one can swim and skate in snow at the same time. Next year we are beginning working and we will have several kilometers length gold -sandy beaches. The nice water we have now is only at the end of July in Nice. But because the sea is much more salty there that burns skin , swimming for a long time is difficult. The Black Sea is less salty. Here near the port is a very clean beach and the Sea is almost never waving,"-Saakashvili stated.

The President of Georgia to lay the foundation for one more construction - the Alphabetic Tower will be constructed in Batumi Boulevard

Mikheil Saakashvili inlaid the symbolic capsule together with the Chairman of Government of Adjara, Mayors of Batumi and Tbilisi, and the representatives of the Government of Georgia.

130 meters high tower is projected by the Spanish architect Alberto Domingo Cabo. The top of the tower will have the form of sphere with four floors inside. There will be TV-studios, observatory and rotating restaurant that will make a full circle in an hour.

The project is financed by the city hall of Batumi and will be terminated in 5 months. The Alphabetic Tower will be constructed by the Georgian company "Magi Style". 100 locals will be employed on the construction.

According to the statement of the President of Georgia, Alphabetic Tower will present the full range service for the tourist next season.

The President of Georgia swam in the sea after the laying foundation ceremony. Mikheil Saakashvili compared via internet the air temperature and humidity of Batumi with other famous European resorts. Levan Varshalomidze to open rehabilitated kindergarten

Within the bounds of Kindergarten rehabilitation program N11 kindergarten in 5 Agmashenebeli Str, was rehabilitated. Chairman of Government of Adjara together with city mayor visited rehabilitated and equipped with new inventory kindergarten.

Levan Varshalomidze gave computer presents to children and congratulated them continuation of study in renewed kindergarten. Rehabilitation works have lasted four months and terminated at the end of September. Batumi city hall spent GEL 330 thousand on it. Number of children has increased after the renewal of N11 kindergarten. About 160 children study in the group of 7 years right now.

Besides aforementioned kindergarten, N17 and N22 kindergarten have also been rehabilitated. The program will continue up to the end of the given year according to which two more kindergartens of the city will be rehabilitated.

Yards organizing program is still being carried on

Batumi city hall carries out the program of yards organizing. Within the bounds of the program "Support of Apartment Fellowship development", organizing activities of tall apartments, yards and squares are being carried out N52 and 54 Giorgi Brtskinvale Street.
Chairman of Government of Adjara Levan Varshalomidze and mayor of Batumi Robert Chkhaidze got interested in organizing works.

Program is being implemented by full financing of Batumi city hall. Besides asphalting, squares, car parks and children attractions will be arranged.

The winner company in the tender "Gzebi" is carrying out the organizing activities. It has terminated more than 40 yards from 60 foreseen by the program.

It's too dangerous to blow up these buildings. It might affect nearby buildings.:ohno:
I don't know how about you but I want them to be reconstructed. :)

I don't know how about you but I want them to be reconstructed. :)

if everything is planed correctly and wisely like in the foreign countries , when the old buildings are blown up - I dont think that any accidents may occur. But everything depends on Finances , reconstruction may be the most effectiv but not the best.

Iranian Foreign Minister opens consulate in Georgia`s seaside town Batumi

Iran`s General Consulate opened in Georgia`s Black Sea town of Batumi, in Adjara Region on Thursday. The consulate is located in Square of Europe in teh centre of the town.
Iran`s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who is on his official visit in Georgia, opened the new consulate. The diplomatic office has been reopened after 70-year according to the agreement of teh two countries.
The two countries also signed agreement of visa free regime and the document will be brought into force after the parliament of Georgia ratifies it.
According to the agreement, the citizens of the two countries will enjoy 45-day visa free regime.

Georgia and Iran sign visa free travel agreement

Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze and his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki signed a visa free travel agreement late on Wednesday. The document will come in to force at the beginning of 2011, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry. The Iranian top diplomat described the signing of the agreement on a visa free regime as a “historical” step.

“By abolishing visa procedures, the two countries have restored historical tradition, when we could travel [in Georgia and Iran] without any obstacles,” Mottaki said, adding that a visa free travel regime will help developing tourism and increasing the number of tourists.

The abolition of the visa regime will promote the development of mutual relations between the two countries, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Grigol Vashadze suggested. “I am glad that we managed to sign the document in 2010. I would like to note that it is a big leap in Georgia-Iran economic relations,” the Minister noted. According to Vashadze, the number of Iranian tourists visiting Georgia has increased by 173 percent in the current year and trade balance has gone up by 63 percent.

Iran's Government will call on private companies to invest in Georgia, Minister Mottaki said at a joint press conference with Vashadze. He named transport, energy and transit as the fields of biggest interest for Iran in Georgia. “Compared to last year, the economic cooperation [between Iran and Georgia] has doubled. We are trying to make trade relations more intense,” Manouchehr Mottaki stated.

Iran is ready to play an “important role” in solving regional problems, the Iranian Foreign Minister told journalists. “Stability in the region is a guarantor of peaceful coexistence and economic development,” Mottaki said, reiterating Tehran’s support towards Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Territorial integrity is a main principle of the relationship between the countries. We hope that the problems existing in the region will be solved in a peaceful way,” he added.

On Thursday - the second day of his two-day visit to Georgia, the Iranian Foreign Minister travelled to Adjara and opened Iran’s Consular Office in Batumi.
