Foundation laid to new block of apartments in Batumi

Construction of new block of apartments was launched Friday in Georgia`s Black Sea town Batumi. Michele de Lucchi is architecture of the Italia Casa. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili laid foundation to the multi-storey building along with its authors today.
The exclusive 20-storey building will be jointly funded by TBC and Georgian Banks. The Italia Casa will include 47 apartments. The building will be reveted with contemporary technologies. Gel 6 million will be spent on the first stage of the construction.
"The world-famous architecture has constructed mainly private mansions in Barcelona and this is the first time in Georgia. We want these homes to be cheap, that people were able to buy them, but this is the kind of place where any new house should be a phenomenon as we have only one town like this", Mikheil Saakashvili said and added that the construction of the building will be finished in a year and a half.
Saakashvili also said infrastructure, additional residential houses and hotels will be constructed around the new block of apartments and the president presumes, additional 5-6 thousand people will be employed at the constructions.

Construction of new residential house "Batumi Casa" commences in new Boulevard. President Mikheil Saakashvili laid foundation to the construction together with the Chairman of Government of Adjara Levan Varshalomidze and the Authors of the project.

Design of coast located building appears to be unique. Each apartment of "Batumi Casa" will have view on the sea, well arranged yards and service facilities.

The author of "Batumi Casa" project is an Italian architect Michele De Lucchi. The project is being implemented by Georgian developer company "New Construction Company" with the support of "Georgian Bank" and "TBC Bank". As for engineering part it is managed by two Italian companies.

40 people are employed during groundwork process number of which will increase to approximately 150 people at the beginning of active construction works. "Batumi Casa" construction will be terminated by the end of 2012.

"This is the first precedent when such a high class architect drafted a project of the house and this creates completely new standards. We wish houses to cost as cheap as possible in order to get them available for people, but Batumi is such a place, where every new house should be a wonder. There is only one city and one country like this, that's why everyone must realize that they are taking part in beautifying their own country. It was one big marshland here, where in the beginning of this year we started the construction of an avenue. You see how wide the avenue is and what a wonderful places surround it. Everybody will have a masterpiece to look at. Our obligation was to build roads, to construct this arch and glass construction and what is most important - Tamar Kvesitadze will crown this all. You are doing a great job by constructing this house. Tomorrow the construction process of twenty new hotels is starting and this process will continue for several weeks. So many hotels had never been constructed in the whole period of 1991-2003. So much construction on one place only in one month will start in Kobuleti. At the same time we are planning to start constructions in Mestia, Anaklia - we don't even count how much is being constructed in Tbilisi - this process is going on automatically and on many other places. This place will be one of the most beautiful places not only in Batumi but in Europe and in the whole world as well. Several monuments of Salvador Dali were raised in Marbella, Spain and then the whole city was constructed around them. The monument by Tamar Kvesitadze will be raised here (she is becoming a world star, though she is a very famous sculptor already) and these constructions will follow it, your house will stand behind and the rest will be constructed around it. We are planning to construct four 40-storey buildings - among them hotels and residential buildings. Imagine how this avenue will look. Five or six thousand people will be employed on the construction of this avenue. This money is invested in local economy. I get criticized a lot: it's not the President's business to count piles of the buildings and to know this all. I think when you create something concrete and construct something you feel joy and want to know more. It is our business to know everything in details and to bring the work to the end", Mikheil Saakashvili stated.
There will be 47 apartments in "Italia Casa". A new construction company is carrying out the Project and 6 million GEL will be spent on it.

thanks Galandar. We dont feel offended. on the contrary we are very happy that one of our city develops with the quick rate.. But still i think that among projects which are thought for the moment the ones in Tbilisi are more of the wide range: for instance surrounds of old Tbilisi and new Tbilisi park (similar as New york park) also tramp tower and other very interesting projects which we cant even compare with projects in Batumi..

Georgian president opens restored church in Batumi

Georgian president opened St. Nikoloz Church in Georgia`s Black Sea resort of Batumi on Thursday. Restoration works had been carried out in the church during the last several months. The church was constructed in 1865.
This is the church, where Georgian Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II started his work as a clergyman.
Restorers decided to return old exterior to the church and now it completely complies with the looks of Piazza Square of Batumi.
Unique dome of the Greek architectural monument, which was destroyed in the Communist period, has also been restored.

The president together with the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia sighted the Batumi St.Nikoloz Church, where restoration works are in progress. Patriarch blessed the people and wished peace to Georgia. It is important to note that his Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II started serving at the St. Nikoloz Church. After the restoration of front facade of the church, there will be hung board where his serving years will be engraved.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Ivane Merabishvili opened the new Police building in Batumi together with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Raimundas Palaitia. The facade of new police building in Angisa Settlement is completely glazed presenting the transparency of the police work.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Raimundas Palaitia, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Ivane Merabishvili, Chairman of the Government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara Levan Varshalomidze and other officials.

An American Music Television MTV will conduct its festival in Batumi, Georgia in summer 2011. The long-term negotiations between Georgian government and the company management turned our fruitful. World popular music stars will arrive in Batumi for MTV Live Georgia and over a billion spectators will watch the show live.
MTV has been holding similar festivals in many countries for past few years in world`s various cities and tens of thousands of people arrive in the host countries to attend the shows.

A new contemporary hotel complex with open and closed pools, restaurants and night clubs will be located in Batumi Boulevard in Georgia`s seaside region of Adjara. The 35-million investment will be made in Georgia by Azeri Dia Holding.

Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili along with heads of the company laid foundation to the 5-star hotel project on Thursday.

Semiramida Gardens holiday complex will be constructed on the area of 20 thousand square metres in Batumi Boulevard.

The 5-star hotel is expected to meet all the contemporary standards. The building will comprise 120 rooms. Georgian architects are authors of the project.

Azeri Dia Holding Company is going to construct the tropic hotel. This is the first time, a company of a neighbouring country is making an investment in hotel in Batumi. 35 million in total will be spent on teh Semiramida Gardens.

i have to agree whit iberia for exemple teh batumgora is so so so ugly not the disign but it doens't fit there over there at such nice high places you need hotels like that one thats called botanic hotel in the adjara invest site that makes te anicient, old vieuw and puteresk like nice and sokhumi. that batumgora has to be canceld,
about the houses where iberia was talking about well oke not the nicest ones but oke better than he 60's flats from the soviets.

Goodwill’s Summary of the Year 2010

The FINANCIAL -- The year 2010 was the most successful for Goodwill in all its history.

Goodwill has been a leading brand in the Georgian retail market since the year 2004. Since the company’s opening the major priorities and missions of the management have been to offer new products and customer-oriented projects, whose outcomes are already visible. The realization of the Goodwill chain increased up to 50% in 2010 compared to the previous year.

The company implemented many important projects in 2010. The major mission was to sustain customer loyalty and for this purpose a bonus club was formed in January. All members of the club are owners of a bonus card. The Goodwill bonus card is a complex card and involves: the accumulation of points on the card, their usage, ongoing sales and gifts, as well as giving the opportunity to participate in draws and different encouraging activities. With the equivalent sum of accumulated coins on the bonus card, the clients can choose any product of consequent value unlimitedly.

The number of club members exceeds 41,000 currently.

The brands’ major principals and values are: customers, employees, quality safety and environment, economic strength, healthy food and high-quality production. Since June 2009 quality management system ISO 9001:2008 has been implemented at Goodwill according to the standard HACCP coefficient, whose monitoring the company passed successfully in the year 2010 and currently continues to operate with this system.

During the whole year Goodwill cared about raising the qualifications of its cooks as well as pastry cooks, expansion of production, constantly invited leading cooks and pastry cooks from different countries who conducted master classes. The fish industry increased significantly, due to this fact the clients have a wider variety of dishes prepared from fish.

Goodwill was rewarded with the Georgian quality mark in August 2010. The quality of company management completely corresponds to the superior level set by the Quality Mark programme.

What’s remarkable is the increase of assortment in the non-food line. A wide assortment of home appliances was added, as well as textile production, linen, plus men and women’s clothing of Khelvachauri factory BTM.

For better transparency, the company has been offering its corporate magazine to its customers since March, which is freely distributed in the Goodwill chain.

Customers have the chance now to be made aware of company news and ongoing activities monthly.

“I believe the previous year was quite successful, the company offered much news to its clients and we are satisfied with this. This is the outcome of the hard work of each of our selfless managers and employees. More than 1,100 individuals are employed in the Goodwill chain, which governs the company’s success,” said Nugzar Maghularia, General Director of Goodwill.

“The realization showed increase of up to 50% in 2010 compared to 2009, which is governed by significant changes. The major news was widening of the chain. In 2010 the newly renovated Goodwill Batumi joined the Goodwill chain. In Batumi, reconstruction was conducted to an existing market, the space increased twofold and a new production base was built. Solid investment was made in its opening - 0.5 million EUR, and more than 100 individuals were employed. The above mentioned amount was used for modern technology-equipped confectionery and bread-roll production, modern infrastructure, renewed programming and implementation of validity methodology. Goodwill Batumi was opened during the most active season, in the month since its opening it showed 48% more realization than originally forecast,” Maghularia declared.

“In Goodwill we opened Italian ice-cream café Goodwill-Gelateria, for which we saw high customer satisfaction during the hot summer season,” said Maghularia.

“We started preparation for New Year quite early. Since the end of November we have been offering different activities for clients, which include: double points on the bonus card, together with TBC Bank 0% instalment on technological appliances, New Year Days for Kids and the joint activity of Goodwill and GPI Holding Bonus Insurance - Bonus Card,” Maghularia said.

“During the whole year we were the organizers and co-organizers of many charitable activities. Moreover, we are one of the most active companies from a corporate social responsibility viewpoint. We have already formed a Goodwill training centre which will be opened in January. In the training centre, each willing individual will have the opportunity to learn service at high levels, and successful listeners will be employed in the Goodwill chain,” declared Maghularia.

“Another important event was our presence at the European Business Award, which 1,500 successful brands participated in. Goodwill was named among the top 100 companies and was ranked as the best director,” Maghularia said.

“We will be offering large-scale projects to our clients from the year 2011. One such large-scale project is internet-supermarket. Through our webpage, individuals can order Goodwill production throughout Georgia. The partner company is world brand DHL-City Express,” Maghularia said.

“Further important news from 2011 will be the new payment system MobiPay. Our clients will be able to make payment more quickly and with added convenience, via their mobile phone,” said Maghularia.

A: There are five different Hyundai AX 35 models with the price varying between $22,000 and $28,000, depending on the package. There are four varieties of the Hyundai Sonata with prices ranging between $24,000 and $27,500.

Q: Sales aside, what was the best thing in 2010 for Hyundai Auto Georgia?

A: We had quite positive sales in 2010, much better than in 2009. One of our key successes was being able to offer a number of interesting, new models to consumers in the country - something that I believe was one of the key factors in the recovery of our business following the crisis.

Q: Let’s focus on your future plans. What does 2011 have in store?

Ritz-Carlton coming to Batumi

да, реально - что с Hilton и Факелом свободы??

С Факелом свободы как я понимаю можно попрощаться(( Нам обещали в 2008 вроде построить его за 18 месяцев) но увы строительство остановилось еще даже не начавшись(( наверно винить в этом надо финансовый кризис или же правительство не нашло инвесторов.

Проект не умер) но когда начнут строить не знаю( 2011 год покажет нам всем что можно ждать от Грузии) все зависит от уровня чистых внешних инвестиций) как мы понимаем наш рынок не способен вкладывать деньги в подобные проекты, так что будем ждать прилива капитала из других стран. Делать красивые проекты это одно, а реально строить другое. Кризис вроде закончился так что скоро все надеюсь начнется. В данной ситуации все зависит от правильной работы местной администрации и правительство в целом. Они делают рекламу и ищут инвесторов. Если все пойдет по плану то скоро увидим построенными все эти проекты. А пока что про стадион думать рано(((

Levan Varshalomidze to sight ongoing hotel constructions

The Chairman of Government together with the Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara sighted today the ongoing hotel constructions in Batumi. Levan Varshalomidze and Vazha Bolkvadze examined the ongoing interior works and sighted the sample room of Radisson Hotel.

300 workers are employed in construction of Radisson Hotel. After the entry into operation in May 250 locals with relevant qualification will be employed in the hotel.

Later the Chairman of Ajara Government sighted the construction of Hotel Hilton. 70 locals are employed at the moment. It is planned to increase the number of workers in the future. Euro 80 Million are invested in the hotel construction that will end in 2013.

აჭარის მთავრობის თავმჯდომარემ მოგვიანებით სასტუმრო "ჰილტონი" დაათავლიერა. სასტუმრო ორი 22 და 16 სართულიანი კორპუსისგან შედგება. მშენებლობაზე 70 ადამიანია დასაქმებული, სამომავლოდ იგეგმება მათი რიცხვის გაზრდა.მშენებლობაში 80 მილიონი ევროს ინვესტიცია განხორციელდება.სასტუმროს მშენებლობა 2013 წელს დასრულდება.

The Chairman of Ajara Government with the Ambassador of Germany and the Mayor of Batumi attended the official ceremony of successfully completing of the first stage of "Rehabilitation of Municipal Infrastructure of Batumi" in "Old Batumi".

After the completing of the first stage of upgrading water, sewage and drainage systems residents of Batumi are provided with 24 hours water supply. According to the defined terms of the joint project of the City Hall of Batumi and The German Development KFW Bank the process of water pumping repairing and installation of reservoir, water supply facilities are still continuing.

The project consists of three stages, after then there will be full upgraded municipal infrastructure in Batumi.

В Батуми 25 февраля доставлены спецрейсом из Японии 7 дельфинов, которых специально для дельфинария приобрел международный благотворительный фонд «Карту». Доставка дельфинов в Батуми произошла при содействии посольства Японии в Грузии. Дельфины провели в полете почти 14 часов и специально для них в грузовом отсеке был создан подходящий микроклимат.Между тем, в дирекции Батумского дельфинария журналистам заявили, что увидеть дельфинов посетители смогут с началом туристического сезона в Аджарии. Giving his blessing to the deal was Mikheil Saakashvili, the flamboyant, English-speaking president of Georgia. Mr. Saakashvili is eager to attract foreign investment as he tries to yank his impoverished country from the Russian orbit and align it more closely with the United States.

Mr. Trump, the world’s first virtual developer, will not actually build the towers. At this point in his career, he is more inclined to license use of the Trump name on someone else’s building than develop a property himself — although he still occasionally erects skyscrapers, like Trump World Tower in New York.

Mainly, the deal is another chance to extend the global reach of the Trump brand, whose brassy gold letters are already stamped on buildings on four continents, as well as a long-running television program, a Scottish golf course, vodka, chocolate, books and jewelry.

Any actual construction would be overseen by Giorgi Ramishvili, chairman of the Silk Road Group, one of the largest private investment companies in the south Caucasus region.

The deal, which the partners estimate at $300 million, calls for two projects. The Trump Tower Tblisi would go up on Rose Revolution Square in Georgia’s capital. The Trump Riviera would be part of a planned Silk Road complex that includes a casino, an exhibition hall and a marina, in the resort city of Batumi on the Black Sea, near Turkey.

The residential buildings will each contain 100 apartments and rise nearly 40 stories — average by New York standards, but nearly twice the size of the republic’s tallest structures.

The partnership was born of a two-year friendship between Mr. Trump and Mr. Saakashvili.

The Georgian president sought out Mr. Trump during a trip to New York after reading Mr. Trump’s 2008 book “Trump Never Gives Up.” The men formed a friendship, and last year Mr. Trump sent an executive, Michael Cohen, to Georgia to consider working with Silk Road on several projects.

Mr. Saakashvili said in an interview that although Mr. Trump was sometimes criticized as being self-centered, he found him "intellectually curious" and knowledgeable about Georgia and its region. “I think Donald Trump has amazing intuition,” he said. “He got it faster than many people.”

Mr. Saakashvili himself is known for a gregarious style. Elected president in 2004, he is a staunch American ally. At one point Georgia contributed the third-largest force to the mission in Iraq, after the United States and Great Britain. A street in the capital is named after George W. Bush.

After tamping down corruption in the police, Mr. Saakashvili built a new ministry of interior building, designed by the Italian architect Michele De Lucchi, with an all-glass facade to symbolize transparency. Now, all new police stations in Georgia are made of glass, too.

And he has lavished attention on the resort town of Batumi, where 35 hotels have gone up in the last four years. In 2007, to inaugurate a new amusement park in the town, Mr. Saakashvili and his young presidential staff rode the carnival rides themselves.

In Georgia, Mr. Trump will license his name, and his company will manage the two properties. He will also work with Silk Road to finance the projects and market the towers. Construction is not expected to start until 2013.

Mr. Saakashvili has been eager to draw celebrity foreign investors to show Georgia is again open for business, after the global recession and a war with Russia in 2008 dried up the foreign direct investment that had been propelling the economy.

Georgians remain poor. The average income, in a country of about 4.3 million people, was $2,455 in 2009.

Before the Russian war, Georgia had attracted about $2 billion a year in foreign investment. Mr. Saakashvili welcomed the inflow as an endorsement of his pro-Western reforms.

During the crisis, Georgia pivoted to work with Middle Eastern investors like the sovereign wealth fund of Ras al-Khaimah, one of the United Arab Emirates. That fund bought the Georgian port of Poti on the coast just north of the site of Mr. Trump’s planned tower in Batumi.

Georgia has squeaked by with foreign aid donated after the war by the United States and European countries. But with the new deal, Mr. Saakashvili is sure to try to use the Trump imprimatur to encourage other American investors to put money in the tourism and transportation projects he sees as the future of his country’s economy.

While Mr. Trump is the first large American developer to come to Georgia, some locals have worked with American partners or financing from United States banks, Irakli Matkava, a deputy minister of economy, said in a telephone interview.

Silk Road, which recently opened the Radisson Tblisi hotel in the capital, expects to open another hotel, the Batumi Radisson this summer. Tourism is a relative new field for Silk Road, which is a major fuel trader and transporter, and also the largest Internet provider in Georgia. The company also has a contract to move American military equipment to Afghanistan from Iraq.

The Georgians seem to have had their eye on the Trump clan for some time. Two years ago, Giorgi Rtskhiladze, an assistant to the chairman of Silk Road, invited Mr. Trump’s Czech-born ex-wife, Ivana Trump, to Georgia to consider investing there.

She visited Batumi and met with President Saakashvili during her stay. It was a tough decision, Mr. Rtskhiladze said, and although Mr. Trump has yet to visit the country, “we went with the husband.”

New road to benefit visitors and locals in Kobuleti and Batumi

On March 15, representatives of Sinohidro, a Chinese construction company, signed a contract with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure to build a by-pass road between Kobuleti and Batumi.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is allocating 114.5 million lari to finance the construction, which will start in Kobuleti and move to Batumi as the process progresses.

Kobuleti, a Black Sea coastal resort, is one of the main holiday destinations for Georgian holidaymakers. The road will ease the flow of transit traffic, which reaches a peak in July and August, when the resort is overcrowded with visitors. The bypass road, which will be 42 km long in total, will be put into operation within two years.

According to Sinohidro, the project will employ approximately 1,000 people, over 70% of whom will be locals.　

The road will begin near the village Natanebi in Ozurgeti district and run through the village of Ochkhamuri, finishing up in Makhinjauri, near Batumi. The road will be covered with asphalt-concrete. In addition, the project plans to build five bridges and five passages through the dry ravine.

The project also includes modernization of the 2.3 km Chakvi-Makhindjauri route, transforming a 2 lane-road into a 4-lane highway.

Ramaz Nikolaishvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure visited the construction site in Kobuleti and said that the scheme is very important for the development of the region, since it will help increase the flow of cargo and tourists.

“In near future, we will also start the construction works on the Batumi side of the Bypass Road, which will ease transit traffic in the city,” he added.
