I want my city Lenco to grow high commercial skyscrapers, but have a hard time getting them to grow. The city borders Big Block (90k res, 30k+ com), and Downtown (161k res, 161k com), and Malibu (260k res, 38k com) is in the corner not really bordering. Right now Lenco's populations are 33,700 res, and 19,100 com, and the demand for commercial is high. But no big buildings are growing. Actually a lot of the buildings seem to get run down but come back, with no real bigger buildings going up.

As you can see, the area to build is very small, and also nearly 100% full. I really want this city to get some pretty dense skyscrapers because it surrounds 2, going on 3 cities that are pretty dense already, and it looks stupid having this low skyline beside them.

Have any of you built small regions with large, dense skyscrapers? If so i'd like to see them, and if u could offer any advice, would be much appreciated. I dunno if i need to get the bordering cities to 250k+ ppl or more before she starts to grow high or not, maybe its impossible. Thanks

you need to lower you crime level to below 10 (below 3 if possible) and make the district to have a high number of customers, not to mention that you must zone 4*4 lots using CTRL key ;)

It also looks like you only have a few connections to the commercial from the residential. Make more (higher volume) connections (under and above ground) to get the people there. That will also get you more people to live in your city.

I got a big subway system, and lots of bus stops, ground highway, avenues, and elevated rail. Traffic is really good. There are a couple of short roads that see some red sometimes, but 95% of the roads are green. So transportation isnt a problem.

My crime is good, in terms of coverage. Its not like 3, but its not high at all. My Downtown city has more crime, and its got all the commercial skyscrapers. Garbage isn't 0, but its not stacking up. I have more than enough garbage disposel to hold the city.

The majority of my zones are 6x6 for res or commercial. By the highway they are 3x6 to 3x8, depending on the distance between overpasses. The 6x6 lots seem to work good in my other higher populated cities. I would think that many people from Big Block which has a 3:1 res to com ratio would wanna work in Lenco. I was hoping for about 40k res, and 50k com, but so far not working. I got no room to put in landmarks or an airport, so i dunno what to do. I'll try seeing what i can do with crime. Though my city isnt really making any income, so more ordinances and mini police stations could be costly.
