from wikipedia

Bonny Island is situated at the southern edge of Rivers State in the Niger Delta of Nigeria. In the early 1990s the Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with 3 international partners, Shell Gas BV., CLEAG Limited [ELF] and AGIP International BV. started the multi-billion dollar project Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Limited (NLNG)[1]. Due to its strategic position, the island hosts various oil companies including Royal Dutch Shell, Mobil, Chevron, Agip, and Elf.

Port Harcourt is the closest city to Bonny Island. Ferries are the main form of transport to and from the island.

The Bonny Island looks polluted. The trees on the right hand side of one of the photos are dieing due to environmental degredation.

What is this camp used for? It looks very well taken care of. Is it to service the foreign workers of the Oil industry in the region in some way?

Its the residence for the oil workers includin expats that r involved in explorations that (i think) r offshore or in the creeks and also involved in the nigerian LNG project (remember LNG plants are complex modern facilities, therefore needing expat help).

The Niger Delta islands are just superbly splendid but are not utilised. This one is nothing
