I think it is due to Govt run organizations, there are schooled in basics, they don't have the wherewithal to create/dream/innovate. It is a day job 10-5 with regular pay, leave, etc. No incentives to do anything, there is no appreciation either.
Going forward the best thing for Govt agencies to do is approve projects, manage them but not execute. There should be an open competition for designs and the best design voted by the public should be adopted. Tenders should be issued to private companies to build, operate and maintain them. Most PWD employees can be fired. Only a skeleton crew to manage projects needs to be there.

Marathaman June 27th, 2009, 09:15 PM So its been going on since 2006 and nobody had a clue?
ashwa August 2nd, 2010, 03:59 PM JAIPUR: After a successful test run for the past few weeks, the BRTS buses were officially dedicated to the public by Union urban development minister Jaipal Reddy and chief minister Ashok Gehlot at a function on Sikar Road in Muralipura on Saturday.
Launching of the Jaipur Bus' was also accompanied by an assurance from the Union minister on another ambitious public transport project, Jaipur Metro, but with conditions.
"The Centre will provide its share in the project, but the state government must put all efforts to generate resources at its end," Reddy said.
Though the state government recently decided to fund the first phase of the Metro project, Centre's support is vital to compensate the operational losses. Hence, Reddy's assurance comes as a major boost with the state government expected to sign an agreement in this regard with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in next few days.
The Metro project is proposed to be developed in two corridors of around 27 km in length and is estimated to cost around Rs 8,000 crore, of which the Centre is expected to provide Rs 2,000 crore as its share.
The state cabinet recently approved Rs 1,250 crore for development of the 9.25-km-long corridor between Mansarovar and Chandpole. While DMRC will be given the contract to construct it, the operating infrastructure will be developed on public-private partnership.
Reddy also mentioned the interest being expressed by the state government in the project and said the Centre will provide all support to develop Jaipur as a world-class city. In their speeches, chief minister Ashok Gehlot and state urban development minister Shanti Dhariwal too demanded support for the mega project.
Thanking the Centre for its nod to the BRTS project, Dhariwal said both the projects will be developed in coordination to provide better services to the citizens. "We have planned Metro and BRTS corridors on different routes though on some routes, both the projects will run together," he added.
Meanwhile adding more impetus to the BRTS, state transport minister Brij Kishor Sharma said the project will soon be extended to bus connectivity under the project. The routes will soon be extended by 50 to 60 km in the next couple of months, he added.
here you go martha!

Jaipur BRTS suggestion Link (http://www.jaipurjda.org/suggestions.aspx)
World8115 November 28th, 2010, 04:42 AM Source (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/Clarify-the-need-for-amending-BRTS-routes-centre-asks-state/articleshow/6997475.cms)
The Union urban development ministry has asked the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) for clarification on the amendments proposed in the development plans of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) package 2 and 3.
Estimated to cost around Rs 600 crore, the amended proposal has been waiting for the Ministry's clearance for over three months.
The BRTS is being implemented under the funding from Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Officials of the central government body have previously expressed discontent over the slow pace of work on BRTS project in the state. The amendment in the BRTS proposal has also not been well accepted by the officials.
"The officials with the centre ministry have reservations towards some amendment proposed in previously sanctioned BRTS plan. The proposal is thus expected to undergo further amendments" says an official at the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL), the special purpose vehicle established for operation of BRTS project.
Much of the differences are over the Package II under which a 19 kilometer long corridor was proposed between Pani Pech to Sanganer Airport. The road width varies from 20 40 m and has 17 major intersections however the route is overlapped by the Metro corridor proposed on Tonk Road from Durgapura to Ajmeri Gate.
A similar difficulty has been faced on the 21 kilometer long package III proposed between New Sanganer toad to Transport Nagar. The BRTS was previously proposed over the route due to high traffic congestion; however a part of this package too has been overlapped by the proposed metro corridor.
The recent differences have reportedly emerged on JDA's plan to withdraw dedicated corridor over the Tonk Road and Ajmer Road. JDA officials however maintain that the delay in clearance of the amendment as a routine and that the central ministry has only asked for clarification for right of way.
"The dedicated corridors require much road space, however as the metro is proposed over these routes the available road space and viability of BRTS has reduced over the routes and thus amendments are necessary" said N C Mathur, director projects JDA.
"Presently photo presentation is being prepared of the areas where due to congestion the possibilities of dedicated corridor have reduced" he adds. The JDA officials will present the presentation to central UD department to convince the officials regarding necessity of the amendments.
The BRTS project was previously planned to provide connectivity between institutional, commercial, walled city, and residential areas of the city. Even as nearly Rs 70 crore have been spend over development of the project the operation effiency of the project has been compromised as the state urban development department efforts get divided between the two ambitious urban transport projects of BRTS and Metro.
World8115 November 28th, 2010, 04:43 AM Source (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/400-trees-to-be-uprooted-for-BRTS/articleshow/7002534.cms)
Nearly 400 trees are likely to be uprooted the development of the third BRTS package. JDA has decided to start work on the pre-approved part of the corridor even as the revised part of the route is still under the Union ministry consideration.
The road widening work has already started between New Sanganer Road and Iskcon Temple.
JDA officials however, assured that efforts will be made to cause minimum damage to the green cover. "We are considering to replant these trees at another location. Initially, work has been initiated at smaller stretches," said Ashok Choudhary, executive engineer, JDA (BRTS).
The local residents had earlier protested against the corridor but the JDA, despite a delay, has proceeded with the project. A nearly 8 km-long corridor will be constructed under the previously approved proposal. It will be developed on three sections.
Earlier the corridor was designed to run between Transport Nagar and Iskcon Temple. However, the project was amended due to an intersection with the Metro on the Ajmer Road. Also, the corridor was extended beyond the Iskcon Temple till Sanganer.
An elevated road was previously proposed on the Ajmer road to accommodate the additional road space required for the project. However, with the metro also being proposed on the same stretch, a three-level structure has been planned on the location.
JDA has also proposed to include the B 2 bypass under the package. The expected construction cost of the project has thus exceeded the earlier amount sanctioned by the Centre.
"The road widening work will have to be carried out even if the BRTS was not being implemented on the route. However, a delay in its commencement will only alleviate encroachment-related concerns," a JDA official said.

The newly-introduced Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) in Jaipur has become a national benchmark for management of mass transport systems in India. The Rajasthan government was awarded Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Urban Mobility Award-2010 by the Union government on Sunday. The award was selected among mass rapid transport systems introduced in other states.
Officials with the transport department said that, "Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd BRTS was awarded the JNNURM Urban Mobility Award -- 2010 for new technological applications and innovation". Several other cities in India have adopted this Jaipur model for their BRTS and other city transport operations in the country. The award was given away at the Urban Mobility India conference held in New Delhi, the official said.
Transport minister Brij Kishore Sharma received the award from Union minister for urban development Jaipal Reddy. "As part of the conference, awards were distributed for best mass transit projects selected among the JNNURM projects," the official said. The bus rapid transport system was introduced among the projects for new transport system in Jaipur.
Naman5727 December 9th, 2010, 11:09 AM Jaipur. Jaipur lack of public transport system Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Centre Given the mission under the Bus Rapid Transit System (Bartes) corridor was approved to build.
When work began on the project, many technical points were ignored. Corridor where the holes were left at the wide streets where the corridor was cleared. Come obstacles in many places stopped working. Times of the social audit of the project. After all, the eyes of planners and stuck Khullyan started working again.
Sikar Road, will feature: Sikar Road, seven km Dedicated Corridor was launched on the same flaws flaws in it. Corridor in the place - the place was cut the other vehicles were moving. Owarabrij foot was not to cross the road. These problems were exposed when the social audit Bhaskar Jedic officials pulled the solutions that go up here Owarabrij feet. Cut off non-essential to be made. For parking space is created. Bhawani Niketan College here in front of Jedic Muarlipura Owarabrij two feet in front of the school will. Foot Owarabrij Algeangee hydraulic lift to climb. This work will be on BOT basis. Jedic for the action has started.
Beginning, taken care of the environment: Package-3 East - West Corridor under the Mansarovar ISKCON temple 5 km to the Queens Road corridor has become. Bhaskar said that Rs 35 crore during the social audit. Despite not coming from the center began to build further amount is stuck. Local legislators, residents, Councillors, experts, Jedic officials to remove the bottlenecks in the corridor were discussed.
Then Shudhaansh Pant Jedic Commissioner announced that 15 September will start working. After work on 15 October was declared. Then on October 16 package-3 has started working. Keeping track of the Environment decided not to harvest trees.
Metro, with Bartes - with: Ajmer Road Bartes Eliwetad Road and Metro for the track due to both the proposed work was not getting fixed direction. Bartes Eliwetad here to get the approval to be had. Metro was coming on the same route. Was such confusion in the authorities. The solution suggested by the Times that the two can run on a track. Jedic then the experts made the design. Now the four-line subway tracks Eliwetad Road and will build up. The testing of the pile is going to work.
Second place will shift Trees: Bartes corridor widened the road to the work of the Mansarovar years old trees are vulnerable. These Neem, Peepal, banyan trees are among the hundred. Cut trees began as people started to protest. The environment was expected to cut their losses. Bhaskar's initiative Jedic renewed by planting 100 trees planned.
Other work here: Peanipaac to the Tonk Road corridor in two parts had to be. The route of the road width is 40 feet anywhere. Elsewhere - where the road is 15 to 20 feet. Times during the social audit revealed flaws that can not be small street corridor. Jedic such proposed road, making the Eliwetad Urban Development Ministry has sent for approval.
Tonk Road, Ashram Road Durgahapura Eliwetad the proposed route to be launched before the Times questioned. Talk to the experts then came up to move it forward two squares can be covered. Given the traffic load should take it directly to B-2 Bypass intersection. Jedic the engineering branch at the suggestion of the Times case to brainstorm Senior Town Planner in Town Planning Branch of the opinion referred to.

Yagya January 6th, 2011, 08:46 PM Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) transplanted 70 trees from New Sanganer road to Ram Niwas Bagh and Mansarovar areas of the city on Saturday.
Some 500 fully-grown trees fall on the proposed Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route on New Sanganer road. Out of these, some 70 trees were transplanted by the JDA. Since most of these trees are at least 100 years old, the civic body has decided to transplant at least 200 of them in different pockets to minimise environmental damage and maintain the city's green cover.
"At present we have transplanted 70 trees. We hope that most of these trees will be able to acquire roots in the new areas," said JDA executive engineer Ashok Choudhary, who has also been assigned the BRTS project. He added that most of the trees have been relocated to Mansarovar are.
"While 36 trees have been replanted in Ramniwas Garden, 34 others were planted in Mansarovar," Choudhary said. He also assured that all trees have been replanted under the supervision of a horticulturist with utmost care so that their chances of survival increase. Earlier, JDA commissioner Sudhansh Pant had asked officers to avoid felling trees for development projects and instead replant them in areas with fewer trees. He has directed the civic body's engineering cell to resort to felling of trees only in exceptional cases.
Around 25,000 trees for Ring Road project, 500 trees for BRTS corridor on New Sanganer road and 5,000 trees for the civic body housing schemes are likely to be axed. Such large-scale felling of trees had raised environmental concerns.
Also, the BRTS corridors, under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will be developed on the 8.5km-long route from Iskcon temple to Queens Road through New Sanganer road covering Kisan Dharm Kanta, Gopalpura Bypass and C-zone bypass.
The BRTS corridor will connect several of localities in Vaishali Nagar and Mansarover regions and strengthen the city's public transport system.

Yagya January 22nd, 2011, 10:57 PM Jaipur: More and more people in Jaipur are now using public transportation to reach their destination and the introduction of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) is being considered a major factor responsible for the visible change.
"The share of public transport was calculated to be around 19 per cent in the survey held for the BRTS and metro projects. According to latest estimates, around 22 per cent of the city's population use public transport," said N C Mathur, director projects, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA).
The survey, conducted for the Jaipur Metro between 2008-2009, estimated Jaipur's population to be 3.5 million with 12.5 lakh working people. Thirty six lakh passenger trips are needed everyday with 3.6 lakh trips performed during peak hours. Only 19 per cent of the daily travel trips had public transportation, with even less people using buses. State-owned buses provided transportation to less than 1 lakh passengers.
BRTS today caters to nearly 2 lakh passengers covering more than 240 kms with more than 220 buses. Even as the number of passengers taking buses has doubled, the number of people preferring public transport has increased by more than 15 per cent.
"The rise in number of bus passengers when calculated with the average travel demand shows the share of public transport in the city has increased by more than 3 per cent," said BRTS deputy commissioner Preeti Mathur.
Extension of bus routes, better buses and rising dependence on means of public transport has motivated more people to choose the BRTS. The BRTS route at present has a 7.1-km dedicated corridor. Few more dedicated routes are under consideration. The connectivity and frequency of the BRTS buses is expected to rise further with 160 more buses being added soon to the existing fleet.
The BRTS project, partly funded under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and was recently rated among the "Best Emerging Initiatives" at a national conference on urban transportation held at New Delhi at November.
The unique colour- coding of buses helps a passenger to differentiate between the various bus routes. The electronic ticketing and GPS-guided monitoring system are also proposed.

why not vestibule buses are used for BRTS as they are mostly designed for that.
I am sure they are successfully used in many city trasportation itself including Chennai, Hydrabad,Bangalore
jimfaster February 19th, 2011, 07:11 AM The 20 air-conditioned low-floor buses, which have been proposed to link all major tourist sites and places of the city market can not do it during the tourist season. They are always "parked in the newspapers" because of lack of funds. JCTSL proposed to introduce the special bus in December, but the offer was invited in November was not a single candidate. RSRTC president Manjeet Singh Thursday said, "We have not received all the bids and the launch of these buses next season."
Similar to the London model hop-hop-off service offered as little gadgets that were installed on the buses were imported in time. "The helmet and radio system and other equpment was not received in time." Singh added. The lack of gadgets such as LCD panels inside buses, short interactive electronic town stopped the launch of this season.
When asked his reason for the bidder not to use, express bus service, Deputy Commissioner, Preeti Mathur, said: "In India, there is a new concept and investors may be skeptical about yield. "
The launch of "Hop on Hop off" service would have been recovered JCTSL that the company faces a huge debt. The fee for this service has been proposed to be between Rs 250 and Rs 300 and the tourists could buy a single ticket for travel in one of these AC buses. The bus covers all major tourist attractions.
When officials are making excuses not to run the bus this season, senior JCTSL sources say, "JCTSL is unable to maintain their buses because there is no bus parking in the city and the state of the bus are bad. InCharge The annual maintenance of these buses --- --- Ashok Leeyland also withdrew from bidding to avoid a stain on reputation. "
After the failure of the initiative, Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd (JCTSL) proposes the air-conditioned buses will run in the PPP model. JCTSL, a society under the Rajasthan State Roadways Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has issued an expression of interest (EOI) for private bus operators and issue the tender for the project shortly.

Translation: Revised plan of BRTS approved. Elevated road to be built from panipech to khasakothi in front of B-2 bypass. 50 colonies near Gopalpura bypass will be relieved from heavy traffic.
The Urban Development Ministry at the center has given approval to the 180 crore revised plan of BRTS. This amount will be given under the JNNURM but the JDA will not directly get the money as of now there isn't any amount in the fund.
Under this plan a 2.8 km elevated road is to be built from panipech to khasa kothi. This will cost around 100 crores. The elevated road will merge into the Khasa kothi flyover. Due to this road being less then 80 feet problems were coming specially on from panipech to chinkara canteen where the width is less than 60 feet. The JDA was also having problems getting land on this stretch as the houses belong to Railway officials.
The cost of the road at B-2 bypass will be aroudn 40 crores and the elevated road will merge into the B2 bypass.
Similarly under the BRTS the corridor starting from ISCKON temple, under the revised plan, will involve extending the corridor till Sanganer Flyover. This corridor will be built from B2 bypass and low floor buses can be operated in this.
Summary:
Total cost: 180 crores
What will be built: two elevated 3.3km roads costing 140 crores.
Until the amount comes in the fund the JDA has been asked to carry on the work.
Yagya April 30th, 2011, 01:58 AM Mishap at BRTS site in Jaipur
JAIPUR: A man narrowly escaped death on Thursday when an iron girder fell on him at the Bus Rapid Transit System ( BRTS) construction site in the city.
The incident happened where tracks are being constructed for the Jaipur Metro, which has its share of similar accidents.
Thursday's incident happened when a construction crane transferring the heavy rod lost grip making it fall on a passer-by Devendra Kumar Jain and injuring him. The 47year-old was crossing the construction site at Durgapura in the morning when the incident took place. Onlookers at the site rushed him immediately to the nearby hospital. Jain miraculously survived with minor injuries on his head and shoulder.
An eyewitness said, "Thankfully, there were not many people around during the time of the incident averting a bigger mishap." The victim has now filed an FIR against the company under the Section 337 of the IPC for carelessness which could have led the loss of his life. Project head of the construction site, N C Mathur said, "It's a human error; we have a trained staff and have asked senior officials to look into the matter."A similar accident at Ajmer road metro construction had claimed a life after a piling machine fell on a passing car crushing the passenger. ...

Jaipur: According to a survey conducted by city traffic police, the number of accidents has come down in capital during the first half of this year compared to the corresponding period last year.
Even the figure of grievously injured during the same period compared to last year has shown a declining trend.
In the first six months of this year, the death toll in accidents has come to 213, which was 225 up to June last year, while the number of grievously injured came to 528 from 595.
"With helmet being made necessary even for pillion riders, the number of deaths has come down on city roads. We frequently educate youths on safe driving and also take strict action against defaulters, which has gone a long way in reducing the number of accidents," said Rohit Mahajan, DCP traffic.
With rise in traffic flow, interceptors are placed to check rash driving. Jagatpura tops the list with maximum number of accidents followed by Bus Rapid Transit Service (BRTS) corridor near Vidyadhar Nagar and by-pass roads.
"We have requested Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to come up with railings near the by-pass roads intersecting with residential areas," added Mahajan.

JDA hauls up firms for slow pace
TNN Aug 5, 2011, 05.12am IST
JAIPUR: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Thursday asked the companies working on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) to explain the slow pace of work on the ongoing project.
Jaipur Development Commissioner Kuldeep Ranka said, "The work of elevated roads and BRTS corridor at various places is going on at a snail's pace. Notices have been issued to the companies and the authorities are also planning to fine them.
"The companies have also been asked to submit the action plan of how they intend to complete the project within the given deadline," he added.
The deadline for the completion of elevated roads and BRTS corridor in the city is December 2011. Neeraj Cement Structural Ltd., and ARSS Infrastructure Project Limited have taken up the BRTS work.
"Only 35% of the construction work of the elevated BRTS corridor, which was commenced in 2007, has been completed so far at Durgapura,"an official informed.
"For some time, the work was interrupted as the BRTS plan was revised due to the metro rail project. Also, the work of the BRTS corridor from New Sanagner road to Kisandharm Katta is progressing at an extremely slow rate. The companies have to first widen the road and then start the construction but the work of widening the road has come to a halt," he added.
A team of JDA officials, headed by the JDC, also inspected the BRTS casting yard to check the quality of the material used by the companies. An official said since double viaducts will be constructed at many places and the metro elevated track will be above and the BRTS elevated roads, inspecting the durability and strength of the materials used is essential.

World8115 January 14th, 2012, 07:43 AM Panipech elevated road project to be revived
Source: TOI (http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2012-01-11/jaipur/30615721_1_road-project-jda-official-jaipur-development-authority)
After three proposed elevated road projects shelved recently, here is some good news for the residents, as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has started reviving an elevated road under Bus Rapid Transit System ( BRTS) which was put in the cold storage.
The JDA engineering wing is once again making efforts and reviewing the Panipech elevated road project which was put on hold after the elevated road from Collectorate Circle to Khasa Kothi was proposed. A JDA official said, "One meeting has already been held in this regard. Once the project is reviewed at state level, we will send it to the Centre for approval."
The Rs 100-crore elevated road is around 2.8 km long and is proposed from Panipech to Khasa Kothi as per the detailed project report (DPR). According to the officials the elevated project will connect middle point of Khasa Kothi with Panipech.
The official added that the elevated road proposed to ease the traffic from Collectorate Circle and Government Hostel via Khasa Kothi was put on hold after it was criticized that elevated roads would disturb the heritage look of historical buildings like the Khasa Kothi, Government Hostel and other buildings along MI Road. "Since the Panipech elevated road project was a small part of the other proposed elevated roads it was put on hold," the official said. The Bais Godaam elevated road proposed at the same time was also put on hold.
The official added, "The height of the proposed elevated road would be around 20 metres (70 feet) and because of this, the project has been objected to." Official sources also claimed that other reasons for putting the projects on hold is because constructing elevated roads on both these roads will be risky and there is no provision to divert heavy traffic from these routes.
Recently, JDA also cancelled its plan to construct an elevated road from Govind Marg to Narain Singh Circle as authorities claimed construction was not feasible. An official said, "Now, JDA has sought alternative suggestions from the town planning department to ease traffic pressure into the city from NH-8.
Yagya February 4th, 2012, 04:04 PM JDA's notice to speed up BRTS work
JAIPUR: The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) work that is going on at a snail's pace is expected to gain momentum. The firm responsible for its construction has swung into action after the Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA) notice to confiscate performance guarantee.
In a meeting at the JDA headquarters on Friday, the firm has given assurance to speed up the work. The JDA has also set December 2012, a new deadline for the project. Executive engineer (BRTS), Ashok Choudhary said, "We have given the firm a deadline of December 31 to complete the project. Also, the firm has asked for a grace period that if the work progress is not visible within 15 days the authority can take any action."
Recently, the JDA had issued a notice to confiscate the performance guarantee of Rs 5 crore and also sought an explanation within 15 days. Neeraj Cement Structural Ltd. and ARSS Infrastructure Project Limited have taken up the BRTS work. An official said, "It was a review meeting after giving a firm 15 days of time. The work of elevated roads and BRTS corridor at various places is going on at a snail's pace. Despite issuing notices and imposing penalty of Rs 10 lakh no improvement can be witnessed."
A source said that to save time the JDA wants same company should carry on work and strict monitoring should be done by the authorities, because in case the JDA takes work from the awarded company the work can delay further.
According to official reports, only 40% of the construction work of the elevated BRTS corridor has been completed till date. Despite slapping the construction company with a heavy fine and a court notice, authorities have set a new deadline. Official said, to quicken the pace of the already delayed Durgapura elevated road project, the JDA had decided to provide assistance to the companies assigned as they are facing financial debt resulting in slow pace of work. The JDA too had pushed back the deadline thrice. However, no concerted result can be seen.

reshapco February 16th, 2012, 06:48 AM I have been to Jaipur and their BRTS system is kind of Pune... It's really worst. One should look at Ahmedabad BRTS before wasting valuable money on such faulty designs.
Yagya February 16th, 2012, 09:25 AM what didn't you like about it? I've seen the system operate myself and it was working properly. I've also talked to people living in Jaipur who say it's good. It also bagged the JNNURM mobility award in 2010 as posted earlier in this thread. In addition, if it was that bad then they wouldn't be constructing more of it.
shree711 February 16th, 2012, 05:09 PM I think that the BRTS is actually helping Jaipur and is quite decent indeed.

No, to my view design of lights, buses and stations is inferior. Street Lights have been installed too much. This has deteriorated the whole concept of simple and clean BRTS.

And too many street lights? lol As seen in the below picture they're completely fine.

The JDA has sent a revised version of the phase 2 of BRTS to the central govt.
The report includes the route: Panipech to Sanganer airport and New Sanganer road to Tonk Road via B2 bypass.
In the proposal the JDA has scrapped the elevated corridor between Panipech and Khasa Kothi and has wished to develop the 18.5 km on priority lane method. The reason given for the ammendments are heritage structures on the route and the metro route. The cost for this will be 590 crores instead of the 660 crores for earlier plans.
Meanwhile no changes have been made on the New Sanganer road to Tonk road route.

JAIPUR: Putting to rest the possibilities of constructing the elevated road from Pani- Pech to Collectorate Circle under Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project, phase II, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has sent a revised proposal of Rs 590 crore to the Centre for the approval.

Ashosk Chaudhary, executive engineer of the BRTS project said, ''In the revised proposal we have mentioned to construct the priority lane.''

Yagya January 28th, 2013, 12:32 AM Jaipur Development Authority decides on BRTS extension to connect airport
JAIPUR: Considering airport as an important point, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has decided to connect the Bus Rapid Transit Service (BRTS) route to Sanganaer airport via B2 bypass. The decision has been taken after the JDA planned to shelve the Panipech to Sanganer BRTS route, according to the sources.
The JDA while providing an alternative route to the airport, has decided to extend the BRTS (phase -II) corridors. "We have proposed to extend the Government Hostel to Amrit Nagar (New Sanganer road) route to connect to the airport. The route is 13 km and extension of 7km more will connect it with the Sanganer Airport," a senior JDA official said.
The official claimed that as the Metro phase- II is proposed on the Tonk Road, the proposed route is the most viable route to connect to the airport. "Due to space constraints and the Metro project on Tonk Road, the BRTS dedicated corridor is not feasible on Tonk road," he said.
Earlier, facing a problem to construct the dedicated corridor from Panipech to Sanganer, the JDA in its revised DPR had proposed it as mixed corridor and priority lane. However, a source said chances of getting the proposal approved is very less as the Centre has not given it nod to proposals for mixed corridors across the country.
According to officials, the two elevated roads proposed on B2 bypass will swiftly connect with the Tonk Road. After the elevated road from Panipech to Collectorate Circle under BRTS project, phase II, was dropped, the JDA sent a revised proposal of Rs 590 crore to the Centre for approval. "In the revised development project report (DPR), elevated road on B2 bypass was proposed. However, it excludes the elevated road between Panipech and Collectorate Circle," the official said.
An official said, "Two elevated roads have been proposed. One is proposed from the end of Tonk Road that will be constructed till the end of New Sanganer Road. It will be around 2,100 metres long. Similarly, from New Sanganer Road, the elevated road will be constructed till Amanishah Nullah and will be 1,200 metres long.
"The estimated cost of the proposed elevated roads will be Rs 100 crore. We conducted a survey one-and-a-half year ago when the estimated cost was around Rs 65 crore," he added.

To promote usage of public transport and reduce accidents, now the area from Delhi road to Jagatpura-Pratapnagar would be joined through BRTS.
JDA has started preparations for phase 2 of BRTS after government instructions. The survey probably will be done under a month of this north-south section of the city. A private consultant's help will be sought in this regard who will study to road width, traffic, population etc of the marked areas. According to sources, the government wishes to get it approved by JNNURM under the current term.
Probable route: Delhi road, Jawahar Nagar bypass, Jhalna bypass, Apex circle, Jagatpura and Pratapnagar.
Benefits: An alternative to Tonk road will be created and with a dedicated corridor the problem of the bus getting stuck in traffic jam will also be solved.
A large section of the population residing near Amer road, Jhalna, in malviya nagar, jagatpura and pratapnagar will benefit.
"Avenues to increase the usage of public transport are being searched. Under this, BRTS will be extended for which the survey is being done." - Kuldeep Ranka, JDA

To promote public transport, preparations for Delhi Road-Jagatpura-Pratapnagar brts route have begun. However the first phase is still to be finished. The responsible company and govt's lack of activeness is causing trouble for the common man. Despite several notices by JDA as well as fines, the company responsible is not doing things in a proper way.
JDA had marked 3 phases of the first part of the BRTS corridor. Out of the three, only one on Sikar road has been built. One was scraped after objections from the Central government. Whereas the pace of work on the third one is so slow that it is late by a whole year now.
The JDA has given nearly half a dozen notices to the company constructing the corridor. It has also been fined 2 times. However, the company keeps getting away by given excuses related to finances. The government has also not acted swiftly despite the fact that the Urban development department had set up a committee.
How is it impacting the people:
Due to construction, there is constant jam in Durgapura. Heavy vehicles are being diverted from JLN road. Electric wires remain open near St Wilfred college. The road between Durgapura bus stand and BSNL exchange is not wide enough hence traffic jams. On new Sanganer road accidents are occurring due to dug up road.
Report on 3 phases of the 1st part:
Phase 1: Sikar Road: 7km long. Work started in 2007, Finished in August 2010 and has been in operation since then.
Phase 2: Panipech to Sanganer Airport: On this 19 km route, there were first plans for Dedicated and then mixed used lane. The width of the road was not enough for a dedicated corridor and the central govt said no to a mixed corridor.Therefor, in 2009 this phase was scrapped. Instead of this, a new route from B2 bypass to airport has been suggested. Currently pending for approval with Central govt.
Phase 3: B2 bypass to C zone bypass- Ajmer road-Sodala-Government hostel and Durgapura elevated road. Work going at a snails pace from B2 bypass to C-Zone and Durgapura Elevated road. The company started work in 2010 and now the deadline is december 2013.
