14 million Euros for the renovation of Algiers' Sheraton Hotel

A total of 14 million Euros have been devoted for the renovation works of Sheraton Hotel of Algiers (419 rooms), coming under the Hotel Investment Company (SIH), announced on Sunday its CEO Abdelhamid Melzi.

The renovation works are due to last 16 months and will be inspected by a renowned engineering department, Melzi told the press. Minister of Town Planning, Environment and Tourism Cherif Rahmani, who enquired about the progress of the works, pointed out that the "heavy and costly operation" is self-financed.

The State is contributing with the exoneration of customs duties, taxes and cutting the interest rate of banks when the project falls within the framework of Algeria's Quality Tourism Plan (PQTA), as stipulated in the 209 additional Finance Act.

Test de l’hôtel Sheraton club des Pins, Alger, Algérie

Le Sheraton Club des Pins d’Alger s’est offert une rénovation de ses chambres pour ses dix ans. Loin du centre ville et de l’aéroport, il s’avère spacieux, offre des chambres de qualité et une restauration haut de gamme. Le tout, avec vue et accès direct à la mer.

L’hôtel Sheraton d’Alger est situé dans le Club des Pins, unmicro-monde privé à l’écart de la ville, entièrement gardé et nécessitant patte-blanche pour y accéder; un petit monde de luxe au large d’Alger, inaccessible au grand public. Le bâtiment de l’hôtel, construit 10 ans plus tôt, ne présente pas d’intérêt particulier, si ce n’est d’être situé en bord de mer et, en l’occurrence, d’une plage privée. Le Club des Pins, en transport, est situé à 30 minutes de la ville et 50 de l’aéroport… « quand ça roule », précise son responsable. Sauf que les routes d’Alger sont souvent encombrées.

Le hall de l'hôtel est luxueux avec ses revêtements en marbre omniprésent: son double escalier au dessus d’une fontaine lui confère une dimension particulièrement haut de gamme. Lumineux de par la clarté de ses couleurs, l’espace du rez-de-chaussée donne d’une part sur l’accueil côté terre, d’autre part sur le jardin côté mer. il faut cependant prendre ses repères avant de s’orienter pleinement et de pouvoir localiser les ascenseurs.

Chambres : l'hôtel comprend un total de 419 chambres, dont 102 suites réparties dans le bâtiment. La majorité a d’ores et déjà été rénovée en 2009, les dernières le seront d’ici à septembre. Parmi ces chambres, 40% sont non-fumeurs. L’intérieur est agréable et reposant grâce aux couleurs douces. Les fenêtres larges assurent une luminosité parfaite. L’aménagement de la chambre s’avère fonctionnel, et pas trop encombré. Bureau avec chaises, tables de chevet, meuble télé, siège et canapé. Ni trop, ni trop peu. En outre, le lit demeure confortable. Les équipements standards répondent présent : table de repassage, télévision, wifi, etc. Dommage qu’une chaine hifi n’aie pas été intégrée au matériel.

Le couloir d’entrée donne accès à une large penderie, incluant le coffre fort. Et, bien sûr, à la salle d’eau: spacieuse et design, elle est équipée d’une douche et d’une baignoire et, bien entendu, de tout le matériel de toilettes nécessaire.

Restaurants et Bars : La restauration est le point fort du Sheraton Club des Pins ! Pas moins de 6 restaurants et bars sont proposés aux hôtes, parmi lesquels une table française : la Dorade, offrant une cuisine gastronomique créative à base de fruits de mer et poissons.

La Trattoria, un restaurant italien, offre également une cuisine haut de gamme et variée, dans un décor typique. La Brasserie est le lieu où l'on prend les petits déjeuners (également accessibles au dernier étage, dans un espace moindre). Elle propose un choix conséquent de plats chauds, pâtisseries, fruits, poissons fumés, céréales… et offre une vue imprenable sur la côte !

Le Sheraton d’Alger dispose d’un centre de séminaire et conférences articulé autour d’un auditorium de 700 places, équipé de matériel technologique moderne. Cinq salles de réunions l’entourent, d’une capacité de 30 à 400 places et aménageables sur mesure. Services et restauration sont bien entendu de la partie, et c’est la moindre des choses. Un centre d’affaires avec ordinateurs et Internet est en outre accessible à tous.

Loisirs : L'hôtel comprend une plage privée longue d’un kilomètre, quatre courts de tennis, une piscine de plein air avec un bassin couvert, un spa (avec sauna, hammam et massages) et unesalle de fitness offrent aux clients diverses possibilités de détente. Des coachs peuvent être demandés pour des cours de sport plus pointus.

Le Verdict : hormis sa situation un peu excentrée du centre-ville et de l’aéroport, l’hôtel Sheraton nous a séduit par la qualité de son service, sa décoration, sa situation à deux pas de la mer et sa cuisine !

PLUS : restauration, plage privée, service.

MOINS : accès difficile, aménagement du rez-de-chaussée intérieur.
