View Full Version : [COMPLETED] First batch of 40-storey flats
JediAlf February 22nd, 2004, 06:41 PM I have to create a new thread about 40 storey HDB blocks.
http://skyscraperpage.com/gallery/data/500/85detailed.jpg
This picture is produced by Cliff, one of members of this forum here.
On the left of the picture, you should be able to see glowing lights atop two construction cranes next to incomplete HDB blocks. Besides two cranes, you have massive canopy over a HDB block being constructed.
These are actually 4 40-storeys blocks in Toa Payoh!
I really envy those residents of these blocks when completed. They can have breathtaking views of city!
Another 2 40-storeys blocks are located near Queenstown MRT station. So next time, when you take train heading towards Redhill from Queenstown or towards Queenstown from Redhill, you must look out for these blocks.
Actually there are 4 HDB blocks being constructed there. Only two of these blocks are 40 storeys. The rest are around 30 or less (I forgot how many storeys)
huaiwei February 22nd, 2004, 06:45 PM Eh...wait....you sure these are 4 storeys??
I do noe they are building a batch on the plot which used to be occupied by block 79..but these blocks too??

Yes absolutely! These are 40 storeys HDB blocks - first ones in Toa Payoh! These blocks are just across the road from HDB Hub and Toa payoh Bus interchange!
I walked past these construction site several times! I always admire these blocks everytime I take SBS 153 or 105 home from my workplace at Toa Payoh.

You can see my photos in the HDB construction thread. ;)

Toa Payoh's blocks will be finished in 2005, so does Queenstown blocks - two blocks already soaring high.
50-storey HDB blocks will be in Tanjong Pagar - still awaiting confirmation from HDB to begin construction.
There are alot of 30-storey HDB flat blocks around in Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Panjang, Holland, Bukit Merah, Redhill, Bukit Batok, Dover.
JediAlf February 23rd, 2004, 05:08 AM Here you are:
Rendering of Toa Payoh's 40-storeys HDB blocks...
But it is in the Adobe PDF.
www.eptc.com.sg/Journals/isite4/DesignofHDB.pdf
These 40-storey HDB blocks are parts of SERS (Selective En Bloc Redevelopment Scheme). This is site B for SERS programme.
Site A of SERS is the site of already demolished Block 79 - 5 new 40-storeys blocks will emerge in this site and these will be ready by 2007. :D
I won't be surprised if HDB decides to build 50-storeys blocks in Toa Payoh again. :colgate:
redstone February 23rd, 2004, 10:38 AM One of my relatives actually lives in one of those 30-storey blocks beside the construction site. There's one time ,I saw this huge caterpillar-tracked crane moving about very slowly (not to mention with a lot of noise) around the buildings.
One of those block actually has a 'roof' that is mounted on four 'towers' which holds the tower cranes. So the cranes are actually below the 'roof'!
This thing cannot be seen at the Queenstown site.
RafflesCity February 23rd, 2004, 01:24 PM Thanks JediAlf! Theyre great! The tops look quite elegant. Lucky folks to live there.
Anyone knows how to capture screen shots? So I can save the images and produce them here.
Anyway this was what the website said
"The 40-storey blocks in Toa Payoh will be completed in 2004. SED is glad to have achieved another milestone in its design and
construction expertise. It is poised to embark on more challenging and even taller residential development in the near future, continuing
to strive towards quality excellence and innovation to meet the challenges in tall building design and construction ahead."
Cliff February 23rd, 2004, 02:21 PM This is a slightly older pic, as you can see, they have risen quite alot.

I didnt even know I was photographing 40-storey buildings till now! ;)
heirloom February 24th, 2004, 02:42 PM hrmm bad of me to be a wet blanket but i think it's not very nice... what's at the top? the glassy looking thing? penthouse? water tank? roof-greenhouse? i think hdb should hold more design competitions for flats... it would really up the desirability of flats... the duxton plains one is gorgeous.. hope more like that come up
huaiwei February 24th, 2004, 02:49 PM But then again, I have never heard u praising a single public housing block...so wats new? :D
heirloom February 25th, 2004, 09:40 AM i have?! i praised duxton plains designs ALOT! and i think some new ones at sengkang and punggol are nice... SOME... i think the one i live in is pleasant, but lobby sucks - very pale and sickly-looking. bishan blocks are pretty, esp the three off-white and green blocks with the umm playground designed by some french guy...
huaiwei February 25th, 2004, 12:06 PM Wah...first time here you say nice things about HDB!! :D
Duxton may not even be built lah....but today I passed by it and I noticed they have boarded the site up already? Was this a recent development or wat?

Developer is that HDB-affiliated company....cant recal, but it starts with S? Anyway I didnt see much coz I was passing by on the road! :D

The one rising up from the middle of that road?
RafflesCity April 15th, 2004, 10:29 AM Queens is which part of Singapore? I thought the 40 storey HDB were going up in Toa Payoh?
huaiwei April 15th, 2004, 10:33 AM Queens is which part of Singapore? I thought the 40 storey HDB were going up in Toa Payoh?

huaiwei April 15th, 2004, 10:53 AM btw....the second cluster of 40 storeys in Toa Payoh are commencing site preperation, and I hear from my friend that the second batch in Queenstown is also into site preperation by now! We will have four batches of 40 stories soon!
RafflesCity April 15th, 2004, 11:02 AM Did you spot them yesterrday at Swissotel?
huaiwei April 15th, 2004, 11:09 AM Did you spot them yesterrday at Swissotel?
Nope.....I saw the Toa Payoh site when I passed by it last month? :D
redstone April 15th, 2004, 12:06 PM Now the Queenstown site is catching up fast with Queens and would be topped in a few month's time ,I think.

How many floors has it reached?
JediAlf April 16th, 2004, 06:20 AM How many floors has it reached?
I always pass by Queenstown via train everyday. I always admire the blocks everytime train goes past these blocks - easily visible from any angles unless you know where these blocks are.
Updates:
1st 2 batches of 40 Storeys blocks at Toa Payoh (4 blocks) and Queenstown (2 blocks) - are fast completing.
As for Queenstown blocks, cranes are already seen installing precast walls on the last floor of two 40 storey blocks. Other three neighbouring blocks (presumed to be 30 storeys) are already completed, in process to be painted and one of 30 storey block has windows installed at first few last floors and painted.
As for Toa Payoh blocks, a huge canopy which was seen in the photo is already now lowered and soon to be dismantled in coming days.
There is a construction site on-going adjacent to Commonwealth MRT Station, site of old primary and secondary school (already demolished months ago). I suspect that it may be the site for 40 storey blocks.
There was also another construction site at Toa Payoh Central - a huge site. It is for 5 40-storey blocks.
Quite Amazing!
So we can run up and snap photos from floors of these blocks when they are open for occupation sometimes this year.
huaiwei April 16th, 2004, 06:42 AM That site u see on the other side of Commonwealth is confirmed 3X 40 floor blocks...I saw the model in the news, and I mentioned it earlier here! :D
RafflesCity April 16th, 2004, 07:45 AM So we can run up and snap photos from floors of these blocks when they are open for occupation sometimes this year.
I sure would look forward to that!
provided the designs of these new HDB flats allow for public spaces that have views.

Haha...its often a case of luck man....they dont always give u good views from the lift landings. :D
Anyway, I saw the Queens clustter again today.....somehow the HDB beside it dosent look quite as tall when seen from afar?
RafflesCity April 25th, 2004, 10:01 PM These must be the Toa Payoh ones, seen from Balestier Rd

huaiwei April 25th, 2004, 10:21 PM Er...I have photos of these blocks too. Where should I post them? Here? In the HDB construction thread? Or in the general construction thread? :D
RafflesCity April 25th, 2004, 10:24 PM I recommend post here.
Maybe at a later date we can merge this with the HDB construction thread or that thread can be used for general HDB updates.
The general thread is getting full soon and needs a strategy....
huaiwei April 25th, 2004, 10:30 PM Ok...we might have a possibility of having one thread for each precint of HDB super-talls (anything 40 floors and above) but that will depend on amount of facts we can gather. I shall post them here later then.

Not used to seeing them so tall? :D
I took them from block 144 and 142...some 30 story blocks beside the development.
RafflesCity May 15th, 2004, 05:48 PM yah they seem to look more menacing with more height..a bit scary haha
redstone May 15th, 2004, 07:13 PM Been up one of those 30-storey ones before.Great views of the CBD skyline.
huaiwei May 22nd, 2004, 01:23 PM Been up one of those 30-storey ones before.Great views of the CBD skyline.
Which particular block thou?
redstone May 22nd, 2004, 02:28 PM I've only been up 144.The view is partially blocked by condos nearby. But ,you can see the MOE HQ ,ports' cranes.View is not good.I have yet to go up the other flats.
I'm proud to announce that the blocks had reached the height of 40 storeys ,now they are building the water tanks.:D
heirloom May 22nd, 2004, 02:50 PM oh god the bad colours are starting to show.. i hope they'll look nicer when fully painted
RafflesCity May 22nd, 2004, 05:56 PM I hope they dont paint them grey.
redstone May 22nd, 2004, 06:10 PM Any updates for the ones at Queenstown?
huaiwei May 22nd, 2004, 06:37 PM Any updates for the ones at Queenstown?
Passed by on the MRT a few days ago. Reaching its full height soon, but I suspect it will be taller because it has this "crown" on top.
RafflesCity May 24th, 2004, 12:25 AM Crown? as in pyramid shaped or what?
do we have a rendition of these?
redstone July 24th, 2004, 12:44 PM I'm happy to announce that they had all topped-out!
They are now building the roof deco and watertanks.
huaiwei July 24th, 2004, 03:45 PM No good pictures for what you saw?
redstone July 24th, 2004, 03:51 PM I do not have a digicam.:(
RafflesCity July 24th, 2004, 07:28 PM I passed by Toa Payoh tonight and they looked huge!
But theyve been very slow all these months! Still have those nets on the top and no changes..wonder why so slow.
redstone July 25th, 2004, 03:45 AM Yup very slow indeed. And the colours are so ugly.
RafflesCity July 25th, 2004, 02:51 PM what colours? I thought theyll be white?
huaiwei July 25th, 2004, 03:07 PM I passed by Toa Payoh tonight and they looked huge!
But theyve been very slow all these months! Still have those nets on the top and no changes..wonder why so slow.
You mean compared to the ones I took above?
RafflesCity July 25th, 2004, 03:14 PM yah..still look the same..in fact they still look the same since April! I would have taken a pic but no difference..think theyre taking their sweet time
but they looked powerful in the dark...Toa Payoh now looks quite awesome at night for some reason..very vertical
huaiwei July 25th, 2004, 03:28 PM Thats really wierd....I hope its not another collapse of a contractor!
Any progress in the bunch just beside it?
RafflesCity July 25th, 2004, 03:58 PM I'm not sure didnt pay close attention...the bottom bits look clean and all, but that bandage has been wrapped around the top for months now
huaiwei July 25th, 2004, 04:04 PM Hmm..I was refering to those across the road...the last time I saw, it was still foundational works. :D
redstone July 25th, 2004, 04:08 PM Um, those 40 storey blocks are still underconstruction.Very active.Perhaps all this while they've been doing internal works?:D
Yup, where the landmark Blk 79 stood is still flat, but a lot of equipment and machines.
JediAlf July 25th, 2004, 06:21 PM I passed by Toa Payoh tonight and they looked huge!
But theyve been very slow all these months! Still have those nets on the top and no changes..wonder why so slow.
Queenstown flats are already finishing fast. Windows are already installed halfway 40 storey blocks. Painting can also be seen.
Toa Payoh flats are indeed slow in completion although these are first 40 storey blocks to be finished. But colours are slowly showing...
:P

redstone August 3rd, 2004, 10:17 AM Looking nice, but horrible colours at the base.
RafflesCity August 3rd, 2004, 10:26 AM yah they are only impressive cos of their verticality...
redstone August 3rd, 2004, 10:28 AM Hate the stereotypical design, have the main windows only on both sides. :bash:
huaiwei August 3rd, 2004, 10:44 AM Base? I dont see any colouring at the base? :?
redstone August 3rd, 2004, 10:48 AM You have to go up the 30-storey ones beside them to see, or see thru the gate.
huaiwei August 3rd, 2004, 10:51 AM I dont know what they are going to look like with you describing that way.....
But anyway, I think they look better from the other side then this side view. :D

huaiwei August 3rd, 2004, 10:54 AM Oh please...they have not even finished painting and you were commenting on that??
redstone August 3rd, 2004, 10:56 AM Well, haven't made much progress on the painting.

huaiwei September 7th, 2004, 04:12 PM Hmm...when was the photo taken?
redstone September 7th, 2004, 04:25 PM Still bears the 'trademark' of only having big windows on two sides.
RafflesCity September 7th, 2004, 04:29 PM but it doesnt have the trademark public corridor of HDB blocks?
@huaiwei, Saturday 4th Sept.
btw there is a massive construction site called SERS where the long HDB block used to be, are they building 40 floors blocks there too?
redstone September 7th, 2004, 04:33 PM Not sure...
Block 79 used to be a landmark in the area.My aunt used to live in it.I have fond memorise of the place.
You could see the Concourse and other skyscrapers from mid-level up the building.

Now 2 of them have the blue "wrapping" removed from the top liao and even the crane is no longer on top of one of them already :)
The construction activities are still active but about 2 weeks ago (if i remember correctly :D) the temporary construction workers' lodging had been dismantled and removed. May be the work is nearing the end??

Colour is still the same as in the pic posted by RafflesCity. Don't know whether that's the final coating though i doubt so. ANyone knows when are they due for completion?
redstone September 8th, 2004, 11:22 AM Hi, you from Singapore?
eyetoeye September 8th, 2004, 11:27 AM Actually, i quite like the idea of the newer HDB blocks. Quite okay for government housing. I wouldn't mind living in one in the future, though i'd still cling on to private. Haha. I'll porbably stay with my parents until i get married. Who knows? Maybe even after that? :baaa:

Yes, and working at Toa Payoh. That's why the view of the new 40-storey HDB flats greet me everyday when i'm walking to office from the mrt station. It's amazing to see them "growing" from the ground
RafflesCity September 8th, 2004, 02:45 PM Hi Xfactor!
Nice to have you here and knowing you work in Toa Payoh! :)
I live at Thomson near Balestier which is quite close by and hang on tight! That area is rising fast. Soon, two 36 storey apartments will rise up opposite the expressway from Toa Payoh :carrot:

redstone November 4th, 2004, 05:20 AM Looks nice!
The 30 storey ones at AMK are starting to have the scaffolding removed.
RafflesCity November 4th, 2004, 05:24 AM I didnt know AMK was building new ones?!
Well there are quite a lot of 30 storey HDB blocks these days. Relatively new, I like the lifts.
eyetoeye November 4th, 2004, 05:25 AM They look so condo-like! cool!
RafflesCity November 4th, 2004, 05:26 AM I like how they concealed the ugly stuff on top with some art-deco like elements
redstone November 4th, 2004, 05:26 AM RC, been building for a long time liao, like 2 or 3 years?
Along Ave 1...
Near the Caltex station...
eyetoeye November 4th, 2004, 05:31 AM I like how they concealed the ugly stuff on top with some art-deco like elements
Exactly what i was going to say! They look so natural, so 'part of the building'.... blends i well... and the cream colour is lovely...
RafflesCity November 4th, 2004, 05:47 AM indeed..HDB designers are now up to the aesthetics of condos. The top looks a lot like Bishan Point & MeraPrime
heirloom November 4th, 2004, 06:46 AM actually they look like the condos of yesteryear. too bad no full length windows :/ the height is nice though.
ignoramus November 4th, 2004, 07:23 AM Actually I dont care about this project anymore haha. Ever since the Sail came along. Better design (more expensive of course) and taller.
eyetoeye November 4th, 2004, 09:09 AM But also tons more expensive...
RafflesCity November 4th, 2004, 11:32 AM well the views from the top floors will be hard to beat!
Facilities wise, Toa Payoh town centre is also within walking distance
But its futile to wanna compare this with the Sail...I mean.....
eyetoeye November 5th, 2004, 05:01 AM Comparing these blocks with the Sail is like comparing a domesticated kitten with an adult tigress. It just isn't done....
ignoramus November 5th, 2004, 06:06 AM Comparing these blocks with the Sail is like comparing a domesticated kitten with an adult tigress. It just isn't done....
I am not comparing. I am just saying that the HDB blocks are no longer on my mind. haha...cause theres something better.
eyetoeye November 5th, 2004, 06:12 AM Ah... i understand... i too face the same phenomena: I'm too busy thinking of what to do after the Os to really bother about the Os...
ignoramus November 5th, 2004, 06:15 AM I am too busy thinking about EVERYTHING to think of anything else or doing anything else.
eyetoeye November 5th, 2004, 06:18 AM My mind is a total mess too.. haiz...
Anyway, concerning HDB blocks, i have some pics of the ones in Toa Payoh deep inside my iPod... i'll try to find them...
heirloom November 5th, 2004, 06:21 AM i'm too busy mentally rearranging and purchasing furniture for my home.
huaiwei November 5th, 2004, 09:52 AM And your home happens to be a HDB flat..so....

The most beautiful HDB flat!
Pardon the shakiness. Very difficult to keep camera stable without tripod. :(
RafflesCity December 17th, 2004, 10:44 PM the tops looks amazing!
why dont you rest your camera on a solid surface?
redstone December 18th, 2004, 01:37 AM There is no surface to rest on, taken outside HDB Hub Mall.
hyacinthus December 18th, 2004, 04:41 AM I know it sounds crazy. Place the camera on the ground and tilt it to take the photo. That should stabilize the camera.
redstone December 18th, 2004, 04:55 AM I took it be pressing the camera against my forehead to stabilize it.
hyacinthus December 18th, 2004, 07:56 AM hmmm... but, you wouldn't be as still as the ground right?
redstone December 18th, 2004, 04:20 PM I can't aim if I put it down and tilt it, right? ;)

New flats in Queenstown are more expensive than Toa Payoh Town given similar floor area, floor range, area, lease and distance to MRT.
Based on resale transactions, it seems Queenstown is more expensive.

Wah! Lovely!! ;)
Now I am just waiting to see it get painted...
RafflesCity December 29th, 2004, 06:01 PM Toa Payoh is going to have a massive wall skyline once the other blocks are completed..and it already has one
huaiwei December 29th, 2004, 06:08 PM Yeap....now I am just getting impatient for the 40 floor bug to catch on and spread! :D

redstone December 30th, 2004, 02:14 AM Many places have 30 storey blocks... ;)
huaiwei December 30th, 2004, 10:08 AM Hm..Sengkang West is not building 40 story ones yet...and maybe not even 30, but do you guys know it might be the next densest collection of blocks over 25 floors? You can even see these in sze's pano!
RafflesCity December 30th, 2004, 11:39 AM there are loads of new blocks at Punggol too..which is continuous with SengKang I think
rark December 30th, 2004, 11:59 AM well... there isnt much use of new 40*s at punggol as of now... with vacancy rate still not that low yet....
but in the future who knows?

Pengui January 2nd, 2005, 05:22 PM Redhill has 30 storeys ones already
Some of those are finished and are starting to be occupied already.
Here is a panorama shot from the 30th floor of one of the opened ones (still mostly empty), 6th December:
http://membres.lycos.fr/pengui/tour/from_redhill_hdb.jpg
Sorry for the poor quality, i'm using a freeware version of Panorama Factory, that's not very good (and not very skilled with it).
The view is not too bad I think... Must be even better from the appartments, as they block the view to the CBD from the staircase ^^
A new hawker centre is buying built at the foot of the HDBs, that will replace the one currently set near the MRT station. It will open in march. I'm wondering if a shopping centre will be built where the hawker stalls now stand. It seems like a good location to me, with 5 new huge HDBs just opened nearby ^^
There is also a private housing project that is just finished near Dover MRT. 3x about 30 stories I would say, quite impressive with their feature at the top that look like HK's harbourside :-)
Ah, and glad to be back, and happy new year ^^
(yeah i'm a bit off topic, I know ;-) )

OffPeakClassic8 February 13th, 2005, 08:01 PM Here are the floor plans for Block 152. On each level, there are 2 units of 5-rooms and 4 units of 4-rooms. Do note that mine is the budget 4-rooms in which the floor area is only 85sqm. Compact I guess.
http://home4.pacific.net.sg/~jihadi/2005blk152fp40tp.jpg
OffPeakClassic8 February 13th, 2005, 08:08 PM The neighbourhood consists of blocks 145 146 147 & 152. Ample carpark space. Very beautiful roof garden at Level 6. If you're driving here, you can either enter via:

- Lorong 2 by block 141.

These 40-storey new flats are just next to Toa Payoh Interchange & MRT.
Pengui February 14th, 2005, 06:44 AM The floor plan of your 85sqm 3+1 is EXACTLY the same as the flat I visited at Queenstown. I can realize how compact ^^
Thus the floor plan of the whole storey is different...
heirloom February 14th, 2005, 05:25 PM wah... so nice.. convenient location + great views.. any 5 year ++ flats with such a view and in the vicinity?
OffPeakClassic8 February 15th, 2005, 06:27 PM Hi heirloom...
There are blocks 154 and blocks 155 which will definitely give spectacular views just like Toa Payoh 40-storeys, though the latter (Block 155) do offer more panoramic view of the city because it is slightly away from the HDB towers. These flats T.O.P. was in late 1998. I understand that the higher floors are mostly occupied by SERS residents, of which the law require them to stay for a minimum of 7 years before they can be sold.
If you fancy these units, probably level 25 to 30 and facing South-east, you'll have to wait till late 2005 to acquire one. Price for these high floors resale flats range from:
- $370,000-$420,000 for 4-rooms (101sqm)
- $480,000-$515,000 for 5-rooms (123sqm)
For pano-photographers enthusiast, I'll recommend Block 155 ;-)

heirloom February 15th, 2005, 06:32 PM wah... so ex.. got any around there with full length windows or not?
OffPeakClassic8 February 15th, 2005, 06:51 PM Guess for this HDB's Toa Payoh RC12 project, there ain't any full length windows, typical standard apartment :-(
On the contrary, I've posted below photo of Toa Payoh 40 taken on New Year's Eve. Nothing much, but the sky was cloudy that night. Good for PC background image 1024x768pixels.
.

OffPeakClassic8 February 15th, 2005, 07:29 PM Alternatively heirloom, blk 175 may also provide your specifications, though I prefer blocks 191 and blocks 193 as they are unblocked by HDB towers. These are 25-storey flats with T.O.P. way back in 1974.
With a lifespan of 68 more years left before the govt acquire them back (as all HDB flats are 99-years lease), it'll be a sound investment. Price range from:
- $270,000-$295,000 for 4-rooms (84sqm compact).

I just have to share the history of the site through the lens of my camera.
Apologise for the poor quality of the photo, as this one I used the 'conventional analog' Kodak camera.
Here, you can see there used to stand 1-room flat (blk146), and 3-rooms flats (blk 151 & 152).
The (SERS) residents here moved to the new 30-storey flats in the foreground.
( This photo I treasured very much, it means a lot to me ;-) )

OffPeakClassic8 February 16th, 2005, 06:57 PM Memorable Photos - 2004
This photo was taken in Feb 2004 when construction activities were ongoing 24 hours non-stop.
Project was 80% complete, up to level 35 (blk147) and level 33 (blk152), if I could still remember...

This was the most recent photo I took of the site. There were still many minor touch-ups
yet to be done by the contractors.
The T.O.P. for Blk147 was in early-Feb this year, just before CNY.
(Do look at Page13 for the memorable photos in 1999, thanks)

heirloom February 16th, 2005, 08:58 PM ooh got full length windows! the full length windows are for the living area right? why do they have the living areas recessed? wouldnt that seriously impair the view? then it would be a waste of full length windows.

This is a very rare pic!
The 30-storey flats look so dominant. There used to be a very very long curved block at Toa Payoh I recall.
Also, in the distance you can see the old brown colour of United Square, and Novena Square wasnt built yet

That's quite some effort into producing the pictures... you must have lived in that area for a long time to have so much emotions to it... :)

Here's what I remember about the place:
Was a police post attached to the side of 79. On first floor, one has to climb half a floor to get to the lifts...
Many shops, ranging from clinics, beauty saloons, to cheap provision shops...
Original windows resemble those found at shophouses....
A HUGE carpark at the front. At least 2 playgrounds, one at the carpark and one to the back...
OffPeakClassic8 February 18th, 2005, 07:50 PM Legendary blk79
Taken in 1990, this was what used to be Toa Payoh NPP. On the right was the old Toa Payoh CC and on the foreground was the 2-room flat of blk80.
Well, all these you can see no more as the site is currently being developed by HDB to build another 4 blocks of flats of 40 storeys high. These flats will be then first occupy by SERS residents from blk32, schedule to be ready in 2008... blk79 a legend :-o

OffPeakClassic8 February 18th, 2005, 08:03 PM Upcoming panoramic views in 1995
Probably tomorrow or the day after, I'll be posting the panoramic view
of Toa Payoh (in 1995) from the rooftop of blk82.
These was the time when there were :-
-No HDB Towers,
-No airconditioned bus interchange,
-No 30 storey flats,
-No 40 storey flats.
So in the meantime, good night and have a pleasant weekend guys ;-)

Same to you, looking forward to see your panos ;-)

maxxum, u r also OffPeakClassic?
maxxum February 19th, 2005, 04:53 AM Wow.... That's indeed a legendary photo :) Make me missed my old place, residents on the new flats from 6-7 floor onwards should be able to see the fireworks and the national day helicopter carrying the national flag flying pass during a calm weather day. A superb view of the CBD skyline while partial of the Orchard rd buildings are also in sight.
From what I saw in the plans on the former block 79 plot are 7 new blocks, Block 78a/b/c/d & 79a/b/c. The other 3 blocks are car parks?
Block 79 will relive again soon.....but Block 78 is something new, haven seen this block for minimum 10yrs already(if there is one in the first place). Hehehe.
