I and some other SSC-member(s) have noticed that the Forum is so boring the last few days/weeks. Therefore we want to create this thread (I will not tell you who this person is >> but it's not casaMor:lol:) I hope this will spice it up for a while:lol:

Please give us your opinion???

Of course, it must ! Legalizing homosexuality is a tremendous leap in Democracy. Jordan, Irak and West Bank have homosexuality legal, and India legalized it last week. So why not us ?

Why not DepressedAli??

Because of the evolution theory. Meaning, we will first experience dimocracy (hopefully soon) and because of the low literacy rates we have, Moroccans will choose a conservative government. Like what is happening in Iran, people will turn to liberals and then and only then Homosexuality will be legalized. Its evolution! This will take three to four generations :)

CasaMor
July 7th, 2009, 01:05 AM

Because moroccans are more and more tolerants! When you go to a nightclub or a pub, you find a lot of gays and none cares about that, like they were straights! ;)

Turkey and Indonesia I think they don't prohibit homosexuality. I am not sure about Iraq and Jordan and West Bank!

I always wonder why people who oppose things with a "holy" tone (such as Jebli & Co) why are they respected & overvalued, & their voice echoed strong and penetrate the flux of common sense as if it is something credible to worship? it's just religious pathos! aka insanity trying to make some sense by crying and shouting.

I vote yes! should be legal! it's no ones business! if you're scared for your kids, then don't be a lazy pinhead and educate them right. If you're scared for yourself than you're already gay :D

Homosexuality in Morocco, & generally 3rd world and Muslim countries.. it is more linked to "feminism" or behaving like the 1/2-minded shameful women :D that's the one our culture frowns upon. To be a homosexual masculine talking and behaving man's man is fine! To be a faggety little miss sunshine diva well now there's a problem lol

making homosexuality legal will not make morocco more/less democratic...more/less islamic....better/worse place to live in
just look at brazil where hokmosexuality is legal and yet it is not a great place to live in esp for gays.

sooo if your reasons of legalising it is to make morocco 'appear' more democratic, western then it is a definite NOOOOOOOOOO

but i think in morocco it should be tolerated BUT not as a way of life

i just don't like fads coming over from the west to impose ideas on our moroccan society

this is my opinion and is not meant to insulting anyone esp as i my best friend is gay and he knows where i stand on this....

Look i dnt have anything against "gays" however recognition of homosexuality will never be exepted in anymuslim nation. If Morocco was to leagalize homosexuality the nation would be Completetly Santioned by its Muslim neighbors, and imagine the reaction of the society!! Civil war will ravage the nation and could easily lead to the overthrough of the monarchy!! Not that the king would even contemplate leagalising anything like that.

Homosexuality is considered "tabo" in the muslim world and rightly so...

Its punishiable of 6 months to 3 years of jail.

So allowing homos to live in peace would be a huge improvement for morocco

^^ That's thinking through fear. & who says fear says phobia. sex-phobia that is.
& also that's basically flat out linking homosexuality to pedophilia and prostitution as well as generalizing & catastrophizing the actions of a minority. It is just retarded.

To prevent Morocco from being a Thailand, maybe one should work up to make Morocco into a Japan direction rather than into a repressive sexually-obsessed Afghanistan direction.

People are free to have sex with adults. any adult they want, tourist or local. it's all about consent.

& also Thailand is better than Morocco :P lol so... sexthinking doesn't serve much for retarded pride.

Okay guys this is really going nasty and I urge you to stay polite posts such as the last one of Timo is an offense and should not be tolerated^^^^^^

As far as the poll Morocco is an Islamic country ....

Only a secular state separating religion and the state would guarantee their rights ...

I believe that we should give to all the citizens the right to choose and practice their religion, their sexuality without fearing the medieval laws that still govern our countries... in 2009 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

And that will only come with Democracy ( this also applies to Algeria, Tunisia & Lybia)

Now I think that we should close this thread because it will potentially become a slaughter...

NB: GAYS straights white blacks Jews Muslims Christians we are all the sons of God who are you to judge ???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^

Oh yes! Morocco will be richer with the money the homosexual tourists will spend doing sexual turism.Do you really want Morocco become another Thailandia?

What are you trying to imply ? Once Morocco would have legalized homosexuality, it would consistently become another Thailandia ? Remember, there are a lot of muslim countries that legalized gayness, and people live more in peace now. Democracy starts by human rights, people are not asking for allowing marriage or whatever, they're just seeking a life in which they'll live like everybody else without being discriminated, look, there's no Western country that has homosexuality illegal and no western country that has prostitution legal (except Nevada). And don't forget that prostitution is an antique job, you know that prostitution is very very omnipresent in Morocco, authorities will never ever manage to get rid of it unfortunately, but the fact that you don't notice is is another thing. I was also shocked last time when I learnt that a girl cannot stay even alone at a hotel in her city.

Why legalizing drinking alcohol and cigarette ? Why not condamning women who don't wear hijab ? And why discriminating gays ? Democracy is not partial, so either we follow Islam as is, or we allow many things, and ignoring LGBT is not Haram, it is respect to other's private life, we cannot follow two paths simultaneously.

IMO, sending LGBT to jail for months and charging them heavy fines is inappropriate, however I am absolutely against gay marriage, because we're a Muslim country.

All I ask is that all Moroccans, man or women, black or white, young or old, Jew Christian Muslim or whatever etc. live together hand in hand, equally in peace and serenity. No one is Allah to judge and no one has the right to rule or discriminates whoever he wants, and finally we do all share the same land.

Many rights should be allowed in Morocco, but then again, it's another topic with a huge list...

Making it legal will not change the mentality of people!!

Homosexuality is legal in Brazil but you still have a lot of attacks from the general public as it has not been accepted and i don't think it will ever be.

i don't have anything against gays as i have friends (very good friends) who are gays but we cannot change moroccan society by changing the laws...it should FIRST change the society and then change the laws to reflect society...

the bottom line is that we need EDUCATION and then worry about the law

MoroccanChica
July 10th, 2009, 03:05 PM
I don't agree. Laws should be about what's right and not about what's popular. Otherwise we must also defend racist laws in a racist society.

You first change the basis that supports the mentality and then you let the dynamics of the society find a balance. Maybe the Moroccan society would change and maybe it wouldn't. But if you don't give homosexuals their legitimate right to practice their lifestyle they might never speak out.

doukali
July 10th, 2009, 03:30 PM
but can you trust politicians to decide what is right and what is worng on behalf of society?

the bottom line is that moroccan society is not ready for these kind of changes...first raise the level of education which would create an environment that is receptive for these kind of changes...

That's not democracy! maybe primary school definition of democracy.

Democracy = Human Rights + Protecting minorities + Elections (Majority choice rules without crushing minorities)

Not that the majority crushes everyone it pleases to, just because majority rules! that's repression. NOT democracy.

It's all about diversity in a sense really! Moroccans are hypocrite though. They are only active in denouncing stupid things like homosexuality when it comes to denouncing blatant corruption & solid problems touching everyone, well that's when the pussy comes out of the closet :P lol :D

MoroccanChica
July 10th, 2009, 04:49 PM
Definitely! Why should the majority have a say in something that doesn't concern them to start with? Revoking segregation between blacks and whites in the US would have probably been rejected in a referendum in quite a few states does that mean it was wrong? The law should always intervene to protect minorities.
