Interesting! I'm surprised something like this is being built in the crappy real estate market.

South Padre Island, Texas (PRWEB) June 30, 2009 -- AliceDonahue, com announces the new Kirana Pyramid Beach High-rise on South Padre Island.

South Padre is about to be taken to new heights, literally, with the new Kirana oceanfront condominiums, which will bring a new class of luxury - and will become the tallest building on the Island.

"Kirana is an Indian word meaning "ray of light" and the new design shines bright for the lone star state with a pyramid style high-rise like nothing the Texas coast has ever seen. This project rivals anything in the world," says Alice Donahue, broker for AliceDonahue.com.

"We are excited to have this class of product come to the Island and the pre-construction prices put this product on price par with our 1980's built beach condos, but this high-rise design towers above anything on our Island," says Alice Donahue.

These residences rewrite the rules of style, form and function. Kirana offers a refined collection of beautifully appointed 3, 4 and 5 bedroom luxury condominium residences and penthouse units.

"South Padre Island is outperforming nearly ever market in the country right now," says Alice Donahue, "and it's a great time to buy here, with our strong median price and record sales levels for 2009."

Probably a new tallest for Padre I'd say.

I think such a tall building will look grotesque in S.P.I. South Padre is no Miami Beach.

? It fits in at least. You're right SPI is no South Beach. Padre is unique.

This is the ugliest side of the building but probably contains the elevator shaft. Other than that nothing special about this building except for the height and looks like it could be plopped down on any coastal city in Florida.

Well if you want something special about it, look at the parking. That's an efficient and green use of space. Green touches are the first things I notice.

Speaking that a tennis court is about 36 feet wide, and 78 feet long, there is no way that tennis court fits over a 2 car wide, 6 car long area. Maybe a badminton court. Load of shit is the first thing I notice. This building is awful looking.

I never really understood making the elevator shaft an exterior fixture, assuming that's what's going on here.

That, my friend, is exactly whats going on here. I really don't understand it either, However, I do know that it gives more floor area for condos and less need for elevator lobbies. What I don't understand is why you would not try to hide it at least, you know? Put some glass on it, make it a glass elevator, or at least TRY to make it an architectural feature!

At least they put it on what is clearly the back side..

I don't know that I really call it the backside, most likely as many people will see this building from the road as they will from the beach. So in theory is there really a backside to this building? You enter from the ugly side via the road, so I would call it the front.

I guess. But the truth is that Padre already has a very ugly skyline IMO.

One side looks like a partially destroyed Exxon building from DT Houston... which is also ugly

No, you're mistaken. The International style is not ugly at all, it's just hard for people with no taste to appreciate. Sorry to bust your chops lol.

I'd take this tower over several crappy condos we have on our beaches here, they do need to do something with the elevator shaft though.

Above 500ft, Sapphire Condoniniums are 30 floors 470Ft and as you can see from this rendering, its pretty tall.

Most of the units now in this condo are sold or hold.
