Not yellow box. see above yellow box and below kms badge. There is black/grey are thats looks like paint has come off.
Dhandapani, Binai,
So the remodelled fc bus has been removed?
Oh....antha black patcha. Look at this lot of earlier launched KMS buses :
http://tnstc.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/26_08_2011_007_010_001.jpg?w=713&h=527
The black patch curve sharply ends in the door itself.
If you see the bus pointed by Dhandapani, the black curve does not end sharply at the door...it continues for some more distance into the body and that is the place KMS badge is present. One more check is that, look at the space between the door handle and the black patch in news clipping bus and the bus pointed here ...
arun82 September 12th, 2011, 02:41 PM Latest to join the UDs
1. Madurai - Guruvayoor Via Palani, Pollachi, Thrissur.
2. Madurai - Ernakulam Via Kumily, Kottayam
The above two routes get the new buses whenever new buses were given to Madurai depot and these are Super deluxe routes. Clicked the pics of above two buses already, but due to some issues in my laptop im not able to upload it. Will upload it soon and post the pics.
Pondy-Ernakulam also got a new UD. Thanks binai for sharing this info.

KA is already done. If you refer prior posts, u can spot Nagercoil - Blr.
DolphinsTuti September 12th, 2011, 03:00 PM Arun,
Have a look at the place near the KMS badge.. Is that brown color a design or paint has gone there?
Looks like they stickered it as UD? whether they charge SD or UD fare in this?
Dhandapani Sir as Subbu said it is the design of the door if the door is closed the black curve will meet the glass in the doors, it is a new design by KMS
The fare of this bus is in between SD and UD, they charged Rs 65 for Madurai from Thoothukudi.
to Madurai
Luxury coach SETC Rs 54
Bypass Rider Nellai Rs 57
UD SETC Rs 80
A/C TNSTC Rs 130

You have travelled on the new 12m buses in Ngl - Blr route. What was the fare in comparison to the regular UD's?
Arun,
If you had travelled in the bus, how is the leg room and comfort levels compared to SD's?

So the remodelled fc bus has been removed?
I am not sure if it is the remodeled bus that was changed. (Actually both buses were FCd) I am visiting EKM again tomorrow to check if both the buses have been changed.

Binai sankar,
Once again thank you
pritm September 12th, 2011, 07:30 PM Anand,
SETC registers under TN01 as its headquarters is at:
State Express Transport Corportaion,
Head Office, Near Pallavan Transport House,
Pallavan Salai, Thiruvalluvar,
Chennai- 600002
So as explained by Binai, Chennai RTO's can't register non BSIV Buses.
But these 12M are not BS IV and are only BS III.
How come this can happen!?

I was also thinking about this. No idea how they registered BS-III in chennai. Whether KSRTC registered any new bus in Bangalore?
DolphinsTuti September 13th, 2011, 07:46 AM @ Binai Sir thanks for the Pic, Service between PY and KL is taken by a TNSETC
@ Subbu sir, hope they should not buy any TATA Scraps ( built by Marco) in these 3000 buses
rsubbu.mdu September 13th, 2011, 08:08 AM I was also thinking about this. No idea how they registered BS-III in chennai. Whether KSRTC registered any new bus in Bangalore?
The recently introduced Rajahamsa's have KA40 registration (Chickballapur-adjacent dist). So BSIV does not apply.
Binai..do you have more info on how KaSRTC is circumventing the regulations..
@ Subbu sir, hope they should not buy any TATA Scraps ( built by Marco) in these 3000 buses
Arun,
The 3000 buses are being bought in chassis form, so Marco coming into picture can be ruled out.

Arun,

Subbu sir....
In April 2011 NGL - BLR fare was 410/-(Air Bus,Video coach,35 Seats).... from June 2011 fare is 460/-... from August 12m UD buses operated in NGL -BNG route fare is 460/-(48 seats, no video coach and in old UDs we can feel good Air suspension but in new 12m UDs its only normal suspension i guess)...... Limited space for leg room and less push back for seats......
Last night also i came from NGL - BNG in new KMS built UD..... it was from TVM depot TVM - BNG......

See if anyone get hold of the entire Tender doc.
tender released on 2nd september is not yet uploaded in online!!
I couldnt find the tender document in online!
I guess none of the corporation is going to get any UDs or SD. SETC will rule the long distance routes again!!
But SETC has very poor presence in many cities/towns like Tiruppur, Erode, Hosur, Vellore etc., because of TNSTC these places were rescued some what!!
This is one of the reason I stress for more division which can concentrate more for their region than the division HQ sitting 100-150KM apart. Resource sharing can be made common!! but the network planning cannot be done by a person sitting in Chennai or Coimbatore or Salem or Madurai!!
It is same IR story! for a stop between Rameshwaram to Manamadurai, someone sitting in Delhi needs to decide.
arun82 September 13th, 2011, 08:25 AM State transport undertakings reel under losses
Chennai, Sept. 12:
Tamil Nadu's transport undertakings continue to annually incur losses due to increase in operational costs arising out of the huge petroleum products and wage bills. Last financial year, it was really bad.
In 2010-11, the loss more than doubled to Rs 1,453 crore (pre-audit) as compared with Rs 699 crore (pre-audit) in the previous year. This was due to wage revision, diesel price increase and non-revision of fare for the last ten years, Mr V. Senthilbalaji, State Minister for Transport, said in the department's Policy Note for the year 2010-11.
There are eight State Transport Undertakings functioning under the administrative control of the Transport Department. These undertakings, which own 21,169 buses, carry 2.10 crore passengers each day. In Chennai Metropolitan Area alone, over 55 lakh passengers travel daily in the Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses.
Oil companies periodically revise the price of petroleum products depending up on global market prices. The high speed diesel price has been increased 138 per cent since the last revision of bus fare in the year 2001. The State Transport Undertakings are incurring 44 per cent of the total revenue towards diesel cost. The expenditure on consumption of diesel for the State Transport Undertakings was Rs 2,468 crore in the 2010-11, the policy note says.
The fare per kilometre in Tamil Nadu is the lowest in the country. The fare in the State has not been revised since December 2001 in the interest of the travelling public. This is despite increase in diesel cost and establishment costs.
Wage bill
As per the settlement, employees of State Transport Undertakings are eligible for increase of wages. The wage increase ranges from a minimum of Rs 2,000 a month to a maximum of Rs 4,543 a month per employee. The State Transport Undertakings are incurring 58.36 per cent of the total revenue towards establishment costs, the note says.

Written in Tamil & English, and not in Malayalam. Interstate buses should have all the languages to be displayed right??
Why our SETC & TNSTC is so adamant in doing this?
Regarding buses departing from Bangalore, I have seen only few buses written in Kannada.
Arul Murugan September 13th, 2011, 08:47 AM ^^
In most of the old buses usually three language system will be there... I don't think SETC or TNSTC's are adamant in this!! 95% of TNSTC from Coimbatore to Palghat or Salem to Bengaluru have Malayalam/Kannada name boards. Even most of the SETC which I have observed in Bengaluru shanthi nagar bus stand have Kannada name board.
It is a new bus, so they may get those Malayalam scripts done at Ernakulam instead at Pondy.

Sree Sree September 13th, 2011, 10:15 AM No there is no service to ooty or Kodai it is a ong pending one, atleast to mettupalyam we need a direct one many export companies from mettupalyam send their goods via Thoothukudi harbour so we need one service to mettupalayam and the palani service from Thoothukudi Mofussil Depot can be Extended up to Pollachi in Day time. so it can take after 9P.M. from Pollachi.
Yes you are right dolphin.
Some of the routes to be added
Sathiyamangalam - Thiruchendur
Thuthukudi - Mettupalayam
Thiruchendur - Ooty
Thiruchendur - Kodaikanal
all should be pair

Coimbatore - Ponnamaravathi via Pollachi
Coimbatore - Vilathikulam via Pollachi
Pollachi - Sivakasi
Pollachi - Rajapalayam/Sankarankovil
Pollachi - Trichy
TNSTC-Coimbatore should think of adding pair for the above services.
Coimbatore-Thenkasi via Pollachi(Both are are operated by Nellai divn's Thenkasi depot)

Thiruchendur - Ooty
Thiruchendur - Kodaikanal

AFAIK,
All SETC buses goes to ooty from various destination will have seperate driver to drive to and fro to ooty from CBE. Mainly due to fear of driving huge buses in ghat roads.
so If only the drivers r comfortable n drving n Ghat roads, Then only
Thiruchendur - Ooty is possible from other divisions

Havent seen daily pass details in Salem, Trichy and Nellai.
Recently Coimbatore started issuing daily pass through conductors and Madurai implemented this some 3 months back. Rs.600 monthlympass is a big hit in madurai. I have seen many ppl using Rs.600 monthly pass.
dhandapanik September 13th, 2011, 01:52 PM MDU is the first to introduce a BPR in Madurai-Coimbatore route. Incidentally that was my first bus fanning click. It was a converted SLF. Ramesh-NTM September 13th, 2011, 04:37 PM We dont have pair for the following services..
Coimbatore - Ponnamaravathi via PollachiSince PDKT has already taken up the preferred slots from both ends, would be difficult for CBE now. Else CBE would have to run at somewhat closer slots of PDKT.
There are 2 pairs missed out from TNSTC, CBE (Tirupur, Erode regions) towards KKDI.
1) Thuvaranurichi - Tirupur (Presently TRY, DGL regions operate)
2) Erode - Arandhangi (Transferred from ERD to PDKT region). Afternoon departure from ERD and midnight departure from Arandhagi/ KKDI for an early morning arrival at ERD would surely be a hit.
On the other hand, Nambiyur depot of TUP region (erstwhile ERD) operates TUP - Ponnamaravathy which also doesn't have pair. (Could probably be to fill up the gap towards TUP since CBE route is already taken care by PDKT itself)

A Small correction.. They don't have "Semi-Sleeper" - they have only "Executive" and "Sleeper. Both are named "Ambaari". They have very few of those "Executive" i.e., Seater buses. The Sleeper buses are the best sleeper ones in India for sure - the ride comfort is unmatched. The sore part is the underpowered engine, and the poor fit and finish of body.
Thanks again.. What happened to the number plate? They have covered with something there.
They had covered the tamil part using a mat - I initially thought the bus had an accident or something - but the bumper was intact. So I guess there was some mistake in the number or some other damage that they want to coverup.
Thanks for the pic Binai. Looks like rains have still not ceased in KL.
Nope.. not yet. Its still raining as I type this. The bus station was fully flooded - the place where this bus is parked is slushy. The Station Master's office of KSRTC was flooded, and the SM was sitting in a bus instead - such is the state of Ernakulam BS.

Parveen has AL, Eicher, Corona, Volvo, Izusu , Mercedes Benz in their fleet. They dont have Tata in the fleet. Since they have their own workshop in chennai and they are the authorised dealer for JCBL. I dont see them having difficulty in managing their vehicles. All their intercity operations are either Eicher, Volvo or AL. They have some Lexus, izusu , volvo , AL for Foreign tourist. Eicher and AL for Chennai staff bus operation. They use Eicher trucks for Parcel service. These guys are expanding big time

Arun,
The operator you are mentioning is "Amarnath travels" run by Shanmugam Transport having their HQ at Aruppukottai. I have travelled few times in their services. http://www.amarnathtravels.com/
But this operator is different, its "Sri Amarnath Travels" (Sri Janani Travels), just now found their site, http://www.sriamarnathtravels.com/
They seem to operate Chennai - Tiruvengadam and Chennai - Tenkasi bus services.

N 1550. i spotted some unregistered salem style buses inside ranithottam.
Watch it! Nellai region will get more TN 74s (b'cause NGL got 35 -40 buses from Nellai)

Why doesn't NGL go for stickers of individual alphabets? Posters as seen in above buses are making the newbies less attractive compared to the usual stickers. The front destination sticker is not worth at all for a newbie connecting CAPE & PLNI.
Usally NGL use Individual reflective stickers or avoid stickers (check the blue colour bus at right end). In the above bus the sticker used are easily removable. you can see these type of stickers in other region registered (in some TN-74 too) buses of NGL region. The Reason is to showup in the flag off ceremony of NGL (at April - may) before the buses were assigned to permanent routes.
NGL won't use these easily removable stickers. Nowadays they started avoid Destination stickers in Front and back windshield

Preethan September 15th, 2011, 12:17 AM Reno,
I wonder why there are not much services between tuty - ngl/kkm. I have rarely seen buses to ngl in tuty bus stand nowadays. And i guess there is no End to End service at all in this route. Very rarely i see buses in this route. That too it will go via tiruchendur. And I guess tiruchendur - ngl got a good connectivity than tuty. Travelling from nagercoil to tuticorin is like travelling to a city many miles apart. It takes almost 3 - 3.5 hrs to reach the destination . If they introduce non stop services it would be good. and can reduce a lot of time.

Just saw the timing details of TNSTC-Coimbatore.. CB-05 is the route code.
Chennai AC buses has the route code as CC-04 and CC-05. CB-05 stands for CoimbatoreBangalore-05. :)
For Coimbatore-Thiruchendur AC bus it is CTT 2

MDU ACs will look neat. Worst is Chennai, Pondy, Coimbatore SETC ACs. Even Trichy AC is not good. But first time seeing an SETC bus getting water washed in trichy depot. binaiks September 15th, 2011, 02:48 PM The bus is overtaking a TATA ACE and it's in WRONG LANE
I am sorry, but can you overtake a vehicle without changing lanes? In a two-lane road, the vehicle that is overtaking has to enter the opposite lane for an overtake!
But Its a different matter that the bus is overtaking in a "no-overtake" zone. The continuous yellow line on the road signifies that the vehicle should not cross over to the other lane at the point.

you are correct It's a No-overtake zone. The driver did't obey the road rules at that point. I'm against this kind of action.

KSRTC to Expand Fleet,Plans to Offer Tech-Driven Services
TOI (http://lite.epaper.timesofindia.com/getpage.aspx?pageid=2&pagesize=&edid=&edlabel=TOIM&mydateHid=15-09-2011&pubname=&edname=&publabel=TOI)
The profit-making public sector unit,Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC),will further increase its reliance on technology while expanding its network. The corporation, which reported a revenue of Rs 2,078.64 crore with a net profit of Rs 62.05 crore for FY11,has been embracing technology in almost all its areas of operations.KSRTC MD Gaurav Gupta says that there has been tremendous benefits in using technology in each of its ventures like HR recruitment, vehicle tracking and monitoring. For example,KSRTC was one of the first public transport corporations that introduced electronic ticketing machines in 2004.This has given them multiple benefits like reduction in costs of printing and stationery, instant analysis of traffic pattern and, more importantly, plugging the revenue leakages.Similarly, computerisation of drivers recruitment has ensured that there is transparency in the selection procedure with large number of candidates being selected in a shorter period of time.To date, over 18,000 candidates were selected through this method.KSRTC is now looking at upgrading the electronic ticketing machines, which could accept normal credit credits.Gupta says the technology is robust but it will have to be implemented in a phased manner as there are limited number of players who can provide such services. However, the core area where technology can play a vital role is ticket-booking services. The corporation first introduced its webbased reservation system in 2006 across its own counters and franchisee outlets across the country. It has also introduced ticketing facility through the internet and mobile handsets for quite sometime now.For FY10,the corporation booked 9.6 lakh e-tickets generating Rs 42.36 crore revenue and this touched Rs 71.22 crore in FY11,recording over 60% growth.According to Gupta, ebooking constitutes around 25% of its overall booking.KSRTC,which operates a fleet of over 7,000 buses,is hoping to keep its current growth momentum and increase its topline by 10-12 % in FY12 while keeping its profitability intact.MK Shankarlinge Gowda, principal secretary (transport department ),attributes three reasons for the profitability of KSRTC.Firstly, the state government has granted autonomy to the corporation in fare fixation as it is decided on the prices of fuel.Secondly, officials are given longer tenure to give them continuity.Lastly, the bus fleet is young, giving them the competitive edge. However, with over 33,000 people on rolls,it will have to strike a fine balance in keeping the right number of employees to deliver the services without increasing its cost.
-----------
Not related to TN, but interesting read in terms of how technology is helping Transport Corporations. The smart card is one system that can make the lives of crew and pax easy....

Subbu sir,
Last week i had been to NGL.... From BNG i planned to take 7.30PM Marthandam bus but just by 5 min i missed the bus... that is last bus towards NGL... Next option was via MDU(8PM) bus from there NGL..... by seeing MDU bus i knew it would enter Hosur,Krishnagiri,Salem and Dindigul...... because all the seats were empty conductor was looking for passengers.....
Left side KaSRTC buses towards TN were lined up.... there was BNG - MDU 8.30PM Rajahamsa bus decided will go in this.... took ticket fare is 340/- conductor said only last seats are available.... i requested for some front row seat.. he asked 20/- extra and gave me 17A seat.....(All seats were reserved only 3 seats unreserved in this bus.... but 8PM(SETC) not even a single was reserved) 8.45 PM from BNG morning 5.30 AM reached MDU....
This is my 1st journey by KaSRTC to south TN(many times traveled from BNG - CNC)..... but i will say
Very very good maintenance by KaSRTC simply superb.....
Surely our SETC/TNSTC is way far behind.... tough time a head for our SETC/TNSTC..... needs miracle to change the way and atleast come near/next to KaSRTC..

Thanks for sharing that experience Sathyan. On KA-TN routes people who want basisc luxury are preferring Rajahamsas. Sometime back i was chatting with one co-passenger who used to travel by SETC, he switched over to KaSRTC for two reasons:
- bed bugs
- franchisee booking that is present all over Blr
- Less running time
Hope Rajahamsas are extended atleast to Nellai.
Hope SETC wins back the heart of pax by correcting those basic three things....

Thanks a lot for sharing the images.
binaiks September 16th, 2011, 05:27 AM - bed bugs

More than franchisees, its the online reservation system that is helping KaSRTC. A good % of passengers from Bangalore are either techies or students - both of them have very good access to the internet (the access is not great for students, but still are net savvy). Passengers are very lazy these days to go to a counter and book a ticket!
KeSRTC benefited a lot from e-Ticketing - when there was no online reservation, one could simply walk into the bus station on a Friday and still get a seat to Kerala in a KeSRTC bus! I am not joking, but have seen this happening many times! But, post introduction of e-Ticketing, buses are sold off atleast a week in advance! For Onam, all seats were sold off a month in advance!
Franchisees certainly help in increasing the reach to the non-internet users, but atleast for buses from Bangalore/Chennai, e-Reservation is what is required.
With the change in Government, I sincerely hope SETC goes back to its golden days - that of TTC/JJTC, of being a trend setter than a back breaker.

KeSRTC buses have a "Courier Box" near the front passenger door. Do TNSTC buses have any such box? If not, they might be finding space for placing a box somewhere near the driver.
Is there any space at the front near the engine on the left side? Its been really long since I traveled in a TNSTC bus, so not very sure of the seating layout in them.

The fare of KaSRTC Sarige and TNSTC would be more or less the same - both fall under the same category - "Express". IIRC, there used to be a bus from Satellite terminus at the morning (Via Kollegal, Chamarajanagar, Sathy) and there was one at night (same route as above).

Binai,
This bus might got replaced with the above bus which was attached to court. All these 15XX and 16XX are getting replaced. Most of the buses less than 14XX are converted as city buses.
There is Erode-Bangalore via Mettur. I have seen that in Majestic when i was in bangalore.

I dont think we have any TNSTC-coimbatore bus running to Nagercoil from Coimbatore. Reno can confirm on this.
SETC operates buses to Kanyakumari from Coimbatore. I think NGL region also has one.
Earlier we had a Marthandam-Coimbatore AC bus from TNSTC-Coimbatore. Now that bus was transferred to some other region.

At first CBE operated 3 x 2 seater bus to Marthandam. within in two weeks its stopped (it was a Erode build bus i remember). again they started AC bus to marthandam within in three weeks its stoppe.
again they started that service with Kaliyakkavilai (TN KL border) as Destination thats too stopped
The reason up to my knowledge was the problem between CBE and SETC guys at marthandam Police involved & solved the problem at that moment (thats why extended to kaliyakkavilai)..It was published in Newspaper before long back.

At that time KSRTC badly losed to JJTC 1996-98, so they waked up and never closed thier eyes, see where they r now!!!

Arul,
If you see the windshield of the bus, u will see the route as K'giri, Dharmapuri. To my knowledge, the only buses that take Mettur route are Erode - Blr and Erode - Hosur. People can add few more which take that route.
Covai - Hosur and Blr take K'giri,Dharamapuri route only. (ignoring sathy)

Any bus needs to touch Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri (though Krish can be skipped when going via Rayakottai and Palacode).
But my doubt was whether it goes via Bhavani, Mettur, Thoppur or via Sankari, Salem, Thoppur or via Sankari, Tharamangalam, Omalur.
TNSTC DPA operates Hosur-Kovai bus via Krish, Dharmapuri, Thoppur, Mettur, Bhavani. But there are buses via Salem from Coimbatore to Hosur, both UD and ordinary bus.
http://www.salem.tn.nic.in/pdf/dtultra.pdf
Arul Murugan September 17th, 2011, 04:42 AM Like VPM division, DPA division usually have route no. for buses.
1. Hosur-Kovai via Mettur - 2 service daily - 457D
2. Hosur-Kovai via Salem - 4 service daily - 457A
3. Krish-Kovai via Mettur - 1 service daily - 257C
If I am correct TN-38 is new entry to NH7 or via Mettur for connecting CBE with Hosur/Dharmapuri/Krish. It was usually done by TN-29 and TN-33
rsubbu.mdu September 17th, 2011, 05:00 AM Any bus needs to touch Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri (though Krish can be skipped when going via Rayakottai and Palacode).[/url]

I was not sure of buses from Erode/Kovai going via Palacode, Rayakottai. Since you have mentioned Hosur-Dharmapuri, I have to assume that it takes Palacode, Rayakottai route. If such route exists they I take back my word "Any bus" (looking at the table TN-29 operates Palacode, Rayakottai route from Salem, Mettur, Dhamapuri only.. so TN33 should be operating it Erode-Hosur bus)
I was sure about it(TN-38 Hosur-Kovai) taking Krish and Dharmapuri route, but we were discussing about whether via Mettur or via Salem. (so Palacode, Rayakottai route was not in discussion)
Tiruppur-Dharmapuri, Kovai-Hosur/Krishnagiri, Erode-Hosur/Bengaluru are the buses that takes Bhavani, Mettur, Thoppur route.:)
Hope it is clear now.

Better SETC convert those 66 Pseudo UDs to SDs. Last year we got EDC controlled engines and present tender looks like it is for inline Mechanical engine type.
They didnt have any mention about the Hill riders. :( I thought we will get some new hill riders and old Hill riders in Valparai will find some replacement.

No disappointments. Some of the old UDs can be repaired and they can convert those as SDs or keep them as spare. Replace all the old UDs running towards Bangalore and Chennai with these new UDs. New Pseudo UDs can converted as SDs(Just stickering is needed.)
I think they will go for AN. Lets see. We may get it cleared in another 3 months.

Arun,
Not sure whether urs was a casual comment or not. Still i will put my points. STC'c cant take any chance as any disobedience of law will tarnish their image. You would be knowing how BMTC is struggling with AL/TML to get the BSIV buses on the roads..... finally they have decided to purchase second hand buses from KaSRTC.
If someone has any contacts with RTO officials, they can get more info on this subject and how earlier lot of 12m escaped ....
rsubbu.mdu September 17th, 2011, 06:03 PM MIBT looks excellent these days with the tile laying works over throught ...with Mr.Sagayam (Collector) keeping a vigil, corporation authorities have ensured that shop owners are not choking walkways and private vehicles don't get into the bus stand. So SETC is going to get 473 Air Suspension type 12M chasis.
So its a mix of Viking 222" and Viking 210" chassis.
These two will have shackle ended leaf and the 12M will have weveller (rubber ended leaf) at front and air suspension at rear.
From the specs given all these 12M be Non AC only.
Also all the MTC buses will be with standard floor height( 3 step entry) and not our "Thaal Thala Sogusu Perunthu":bash::bash:
Tender worth 300crores!!
 to AL
I hope they will come up with 44+2 SC.
Since the specs are similar to UD they may come with 44 seater.
But I strongly feel they should omit the cargo areas in the rear and side and later look for options to carry Couriers(which is not yet materialized).
Some body is sitting in SETC and making some smart moves to improve operating economics of them .
First introduction of 12M chassis for Intercity operations, eliminating the rear and side cargo area(reducing the coach building charges upto 1lk/coach) increasing the number of seats(which is not a right move towards passenger comfort). I still wonder why was this type introduced though AL recommends only 44 seats for a 12M with Executive type seats.
12 Mtrs ( 244”) WB Passenger Chassis
fitted with Hino (BS III) 123 KW @ 2400
rpm Diesel Engine
--------------------
they are planning 165hp engine, sad. Currently what we have is 183hp. and BSIII is being asked for. how will they register in TN01 then ?? Experts ...any idea?
As the tender calls for supply of chassis only with inline fuel injection pump
its possible only with 160hp engines.
Apart from this there is one more inline engine with 180hp but currently not offered in buses only in trucks. If thats been available for buses now, you could have a higher hp chassis.
As these are the only two inline injection engine meeting BS III norms unlikely that other manufacturer can enter the tender.
Subbu,
... Last year we got EDC controlled engines and present tender looks like it is for inline Mechanical engine type.
They didnt have any mention about the Hill riders. :( I thought we will get some new hill riders and old Hill riders in Valparai will find some replacement.
Inline pumps are highly service friendly and that's the reason they are preferred.
Some 210" Viking can be operated in hill terrain - Not in valparai but in Ooty, Kodai etc.
Pritm,
Any idea about the HP for these new tender?
BS III ones are 160 hp and BS IV ones are 165 hp.
Torque - 550 Nm
I wish they should have gone for 10R20 radials instead of 9.00x20 and 10.00x20 Nylons.
pritm September 17th, 2011, 07:44 PM Arun,
Not sure whether urs was a casual comment or not. Still i will put my points. STC'c cant take any chance as any disobedience of law will tarnish their image. You would be knowing how BMTC is struggling with AL/TML to get the BSIV buses on the roads.... finally they have decided to purchase second hand buses from KaSRTC.
For BMTC, TML have bagged order (AL did not participate in the tender due to earlier issues with them in JNnurm). The chassis is ready(2 step entry) and I believe even the demo is over to BMTC. Then why should BMTC go for battered second hand vehicles from KaSRTC - Are you sure of this info though!!!
If someone has any contacts with RTO officials, they can get more info on this subject and how earlier lot of 12m escaped ....
I was told that if its going to be SETC it can be excluded (but dont know how:nuts:)

I had missed, the 400nos are going to be from TML only. The following is the news item, based on which i had quoted the second hand purchase:

I feel that side cargo provision is very much required as these days people travelling with families have those huge trolley bags which can only get into the side courier box. In Airavatha's their usage is very high due to type of pax and even in Rajahamsas, i see atleast 2-3 people opting this service as their luggage is too big for the racks.

Even i feel the side cargo provision is reqd. Two weeks ago i saw a passenger loading his trolley in the rear cargo provision area. Hope they will have this in the new UDs.
10.5 M are built with 55+2 and 10.8M are built with 57+2. We also had 60+2 SC, not sure how they came up with 60+2 SC.
Lets get AL only. We dont need TML sir. Even the best maintained TMLs are Coimbatore are vibrating like anything. Better CBE move those TMLs from Coimbatore-Palani route to city service. Earlier they use to run one TML in Coimbatore-Pudhukottai route. Passengers sitting in the front will feel the difference.

Buses in Trichy - Madurai route are not stopping at Kovilpatty, a major transit point for many people in villages of Trichy & Pudukottai districts around this place towards Trichy/ Madurai. People suffer a lot due to the MDU region buses escaping by the fly over and very few KMU region buses use the service road and pick up people. In Trichy bus stand also, the crew doesn't allow these passengers to board. So these people are forced to wait till the Thuvarankurichi shunting buses come.
Due to road blocking by these people thrice in a single week few months ago, officials allotted a person to monitor if buses pick up from/ drop passengers here :ohno:. Now the buses have again started skipping this place and requests are made to officials to strictly order the crew to adhere to instructions or to initiate actions against them.
Dinamalar news http://www.dinamalar.com/district_detail.asp?id=315378
It was only these officials who made every bus as 1 to 1, 1 to 5/6, NON-STOP etc., without even thinking about the stops that were earlier served by these buses, now the blame is on the crew. They should use places like Tirupatthur (for Kottampatty - Trichy), Natham (Kottampatty/ Thuvarnkurichi - Trichy), Ponnamaravathy (Kovilpatty - Trichy) to cover up the major villages that missed Trichy connectivity due to the 1 to 5, NON-STOP etc. They can introduce more Musiri - Madurai buses via Kulithalai, Manapparai which would be a great help to major villages in its entire route towards MDU. Already there is 1 or more buses in all the above routes told and increasing their frequency alone would be a win-win situation for both their origination region & trichy region places, which lost connectivity. Will they do????

Maybe it is converted to an Ultra Delux now?I have seen few Tirunelveli region 3*2 buses going towards their base regions from Chennai yesterday night. If that high is the demand, why don't TNSTC's procure some SD/ UD buses & use them exclusively for special operations during week ends or festival times. For this purpose, VM region comes handy with so many depots right at Koyambedu itself. They should be allowed to operate such buses towards any route which requires additional buses but not less than 350 kms. Since SETC is just scaling from the worst level up to the poor level, thought of this idea with VM.
If we just have TNSTC only, this would be a great idea and the regions with their will & wish would definitely be playing a spoilsport now.
