Srirangam to get modern bus depot (http://www.deccanchronicle.com/channels/cities/chennai/srirangam-get-modern-bus-depot-372)

Srirangam, the island town which is the chief minister’s constituency, is all set to become the ‘Koyambedu of the South’ with the state government planning to develop a modern depot that would serve as a hub for the long distance buses.

Since the government has decided to nearly double the fleet strength of State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) from 905 to 1,761, hundreds of buses of southern districts could halt there for maintenance as the depot would be equipped with all engineering and technical facilities.

“Soon Srirangam town will be bustling with hundreds of buses as the government is drawing a detailed plan to develop it as a major terminal for long-distance buses, SETC, in particular. After the creation of the facility, buses starting from southern districts and heading to other parts of the state, via Tiruchy, can halt there and get all their technical faults fixed, along with other regular checks, as it would be equipped with facilities equivalent to Chennai,” sources said.

The long-distance buses can fill diesel at the multi facility Srirangam depot, drivers can relax in rest rooms while faults are being fixed and there would be solutions for all faults that could develop in buses, they added.

With the chief minister announcing the merger of other corporation buses plying over 300 km with SETC, the necessity for such a modernised depot in the heart of TN is urgent, sources said. Further, the government has also decided to carve out a corporation with Srirangam as headquarters. Besides, a new depot for SETC would also be formed and a general manager’s post would be created, for the first time, outside of Chennai, sources added.

CBE region Pollachi depot's TN 38 N 1735, ex. AC guy recently downgraded to UD from Chennai to Pollachi via Palani, DGL, Trichy.

Thanks for the pic. This is the same which i have as my profile pic here. :) Yesterday i was there in Pollachi and couldnt able to see this bus clearly. it was standing inside the garage of Poy-2 depot. Looks like the modification work is done by CEC itself. Im yet to see them in real.

SETC TN 01 N 7099 from Chennai - Udamalapet. Spotted many Chennai depot buses with stickers saying Central - CMBT Rs. 15/-. Good move by SETC to avoid empty running from/ to depot.

JCBL guy operated by CNC(Chennai central) depot of SETC. It used to take rest inside TNSTC-CBE's Udumalpet depot. It got the UD much before Palani/Pollachi got SETC UD to Chennai. Now Pollachi didnt have any UD services from SETC.

SETC TN 01 N 6979 of Tiruchendur depot from Chennai to Thiruchendur. Head lights are drooping out as if they were about to fall. Travelled in this bus, which was unable to fill in people on a friday night from CMBT:nuts:. Entered Tambaram, filled in almost half bus with people for Trichy, Madurai etc. Had starting trouble and blocked one of the toll plaza lanes creating severe traffic jam.:lol:

We didnt have any depot for SETC in Tiruchendur. It is operated by Tuticorin depot. You might have seen the depot code as "TCN"

கேரள மாநில சாலைப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழகத்திற்காக குறிப்பிட்ட சில பேருந்துக்கள் அன்றைய கால கட்டத்தில் ஒப்பந்த அடிப்படையில் நாகர்கோவில், மீனாக்ஷிபுரத்திலுள்ள அன்றைய திருவள்ளுவர் போக்குவரத்துக் கழக கூண்டு கட்டும் பிரிவில் வடிவமைத்துக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. பார்ப்பதற்கு மிக அழகாக இருக்கும். இப்பேருந்தை நாளடைவில் சரியாக பராமரிக்கத் தெரியாமல் அலங்கோலமாக்கிவிட்டனர் கேரள அரசுப் போக்குவரத்துத் தொழிலாளர்கள். நம்மவர்களின் அன்றைய கைவண்ணம் அசத்தல்.

Wonderful pic. All your pics are documented proof about how our TN STUs were there in 80s. The so called Aanavandi(Thats how we used to call them) is famous for its maintenance.. The bus might look so old, but its condition will be so perfect. I used them many times in Palakkad/Thrissur route from Pollachi and Coimbatore.

I had few tickets of PRC, Thanthai Periar, TTC, Anna, Annai Sathya, Jeeva, DCTC etc., :( I lost all of them. Only Cheran tickers are there now. PRC ticket is so special to me because thats the first time i visited madurai.. It should be late 90s when i was kid. From that time to now, i havent seen much difference(Except the number of buses operated) in Arapalayam and Periar BS. :)

One request sir,
If you some old bus pic Cheran or Jeeva, do post them.

Thoothukudi Depot of SETC is doing good with the new buses allotted to them, already they started 11 hours journey to chennai with one stop at madurai, now they have given a brand name and attracting the pax, Duoronto Rider , Salem depot also come with such one in the Thiruchendur route. * Timings for chennai are same at both end.

170 UD Thoothukudi - Chennai. 06:00P.M.

191UD Thiruchendur - Chennai 12hrs journey with stoppage at Tuty, Mdu. 08:30 P.M.

170UD Thoothukudi - Chennai 11hrs with stop at Mdu , Trichy. 09:00 P.M.

633 UD Thiruchendur Rider from Salem Depot.

yes you are right, but in golden days in 199x - 2000 of SETC they had two service one at 5p.m., 05:30p.m. from Tuty to chennai, 2*2 36 seater, video coach people will try to get ticket in block for that bus.

5 P.M. Muthu (முத்து) route no 170 Tuty - chennai
5.30P.M. Pavalam (பவளம்) route no 170S Tuty Spic Nagar -CampII (TNEB TTPS Quaters) - Harbour Residential Quarters - Camp I (TNEB TTPS Quaters) -Thoothukudi - Chennai , this service helped the resident of the important quarters, no the service is stopped.

Really that were golden days the bus had antenna controls the driver of the bus can be contacted any time in running, once our relative missed the bus in 10minutes for 05:30 service, the bus was called back through wireless and came back to pick the passengers. in that days in 2way road they were sharp and completed the journey in 12hrs

I believe these ford were by TNSTC in 86-87. In cbe Cheran had alot of new ford buses in that period. those all were town buses. but thier length were bit short.pulling power were not as good as TML or AL in 1990, they were all replaced by AL.

One of the best decision in recent history... It's ideal place to have modern depot to serve entire TN for long distance buses..

Srirangam will host the new HQ for Trichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Karur dist.. It will be formed by dividing TNSTC-Kumbakonam. It will be called as TNSTC-SriRangam.. All because of Amma effect. :lol: Trichy guys, note this is TNSTC-SriRangam and not TNSTC-Trichy.. ;)

This is also because of Amma effect:lol:

Also one thing on the press release didnt come out here is a new pothu melazar aluvalagam in Srirangam which came in Press release 1 on 9 may under SETC discussion stating for extra kanganippu panigal

So SETC to be two for administrative purpose or this office is for the new SETC Depot here.

Does it means AGM will be sitting in Srirangam i.e in new office of SETC!!??

I guess she is talking about new TNSTC-Srirangam.

I thought the speed limit will be removed after the ticket hike. But nothing has happened it seems. Last week took one SETC(BGLR-MDU) from SilkBoard to Salem and that bus took nearly 4hrs 40 mins to reach Salem (during night time) . But the same distance will be covered in 4hrs 15 mins by a TNSTC-SLM UD guy.

We dont have any other KSRTC Sleepers to MDU. So you might have seen anyone of these. For some short period, they were parked inside MIBT. Now they are parked near the SETC depot. Only few SPL services are parked inside MIBT.

Are you there, I have mentioned once that we can see in Pandiyan bus tickets that "Thulai itta nilaiyil irundhu edhirnilai varai sellathakadhu" which they are not following it now.It is seen in old tickets, It is written little bit different which I cant make it out.

I also guess they are rotating the buses in different routes. In the bus which i took yesterday the stickers in the side of the bus shows Coimbatore to Chennai, but the bus actually running between Coimbatore to Bangalore.

Madurai depot used to do this very regularly. They use to name this bus as Mamiyur Express. I forgot the exact spelling. Already you mentioned 8161 and 8166. Some more to follow.. :)

The below pic was taken on 28th April. You can see TN01 N 9768 48 Seater Irizar built 12M UD doing the job here. Actually this 9768 UD was allotted to this route and now they are doing some kind of re-shuffling.

I thought TNSTC is only having AL and TML buses.... But Ford buses in TNSTC during 1980's..... Something unexpected......
Now TNSTC/SETC are not even bothering to buy Volvo buses....:ohno:

Lets try to hit that.

TN74 N0714 got facelift. I still remember the front face of TN74 N0715 which was with Monday market Depot in its inital days.

Do you remember is there is any Vestibule ran between Nagercoil- Tirunelveli route? I remember a travel in Vestibule on Tirunelveli direction but i can't recall the place where we travelled to. I used to call them as "Train Bus" on those days

Also regarding TN74 N 714, it was built by VPM and transfered to Nagercoil, It was having the badge near the rear door with the serial number, Body built by: and other details

Yesterday Tnstc Salem alloted 8 special buses from salem-yearcaud .one of the special bus from johnsonpet got breakdown in returning to salem.Bus driver picked passengers near boat house then put first gear bus goes backward passenger frightened and got down driver simply replied gear locked &passengers sent through other buses .Few of passengers complaint most of the hillriders are not in condition officers won't care about passengers life they continuously operate uncondition buses&govt must appoint well qualified drivers for hill riders.:bash:

This bus belongs to Sivakasi depot of VNR region. VNR, KMU, TRY, KKDI, PDKT, all VPM division buses use similar coding with region code on the top half, depot code in the bottom left quarter with additional codes like DAY, A.., 1.. as seen in TRY region buses. If you compare the route with that particular region cities enroute, you could easily identify depot of guy. From the side stickers, seems this guy is from KKDI itself. Again it depends on the place where this guy was clicked etc..

Sorry Depot code shows this bus belongs to Tambaram depot so it is not 23c but 23c also meet accident in saidapet area fall down in saidapet bridge area .This guy cannot be in23C and the bridge in picture seems to be Kasi theater bridge in KK Nagar. Possibly this TA guy could be in G70, M70C, or some route beyond CMBT.

Spotted TN 58 N 1283 from T. Kallupatty depot in Peraiyur - Chennai, TN 01 N 5008 in Velankanni - Chennai via ECR. This SETC guy should be ex. AC refurbished to UD going by the regn. #, recent livery.

DGL - KKDI private operators with 10.8M chasis has become a history and is now completely won over by 12M guys. Out of the 13 private operators plying via Natham, only 4 are left out.

8 out of 9 guys to SVGA district from DGL is 12M. The left out 1 guy is DGL - SVGA via Kottampatty, Melur.
Another 3 are the 3 MIBT bound guys, 2 via Chattrapatty & 1 via Melur. Going by the improvements, Natham - DGL could be the first route to become exclusive 12M private guys operated. MIBT route didn't initiate this change probably due to stiff competition from 62B guys.

SETC's speed is worst. The Tuticorin SETC guy (@Dhandapani - thanks for correcting me) which I travelled on friday took 8 PM - 2 AM for Tambaram - Trichy ride (6 hrs) whereas our Natham depot guy took 8 PM - 3:45 AM (7:45 hrs) for Natham - CMBT itself. :cheers: I wish SETC could be scrapped & let TNSTC's get the routes of their respective regions.

I had travelled in a SETC from Coimbatore to Bangalore Yesterday. Bus started at 22:15 from Coimbatore and Reached SilkBoard at 08:05 in the morning.

It was almost a 10hr journey for 365 Kms approx. The bus was a old one but it had 40 seats with less Leg space. After Electronic city i could see many BMTC buses(Including BMTC Vestibule buses) overtook our SETC bus.

They can better rename this SETC to STC or something. It's really disappointing when some town buses are overtaking our SETC.
You might have traveled in TN O1 N 4846 numbered bus. This Bus was torched with fire when the Ram sethu issue.At the time it was doing Chennai-Bangalore of Chennai Depot. After that incident it was done some patch work and handed over to Coimbatore Depot. One day I chased this bus from Karumathampatty to Cbe It never crossed 50km speed.

Trichy-Tambaram almost 300km, so reaching in 6 hrs is not a bad speed. Don't expect more speed from the setc/stc. Salem-Coimbatore is doing 4.5 hrs journey for 160 km stretch even 100 km has been completely four laned.

Madurai-Nellai BPR is completing 170 odd KMs in 2h 30m to 2h 45m.:)

4.5 hrs for CBE-SLM is too much. BPRs in Madurai-Coimbatore(Singanallur) route completes 220+ KMs in 4.5 hrs. Initially CBE-MDU BPR of TNSTC-Madurai completed this distance in just 4 hrs.

Not all TNSTC-Madurai guys are faster in this route. DGL region or even some VNR region buses are slower. Some of the DGL region buses often take more than 5 hrs. Only the BPRs take less time. 1.30 PM BPR of Madurai region normally covers the distance in 4.5 hrs.

Coimbatore-Madurai buses taking Pollachi, Palani route will take 5.5 hrs. These guys used to stop in Pollachi for 10 min, Udumalpet for <5 min and in Palani for 5-10 min.

Not all BPRs are great in this route. I had one worst experience in a Chendur-Tuty-Madurai BPR. DolphinsTuti @ Arun can give more info on this route.

Ramesh, thanks. I had seen a presentation of one of our senior bus fans rsubbu which helps figure the depot from the circular sticker. But I have very small knowledge on the depot of Kumbakonam/Villupuram/Salem Divisions. I am getting knowledge on them from the senior bus fans from their posts and picassa albums.

Yes i think So. My Friend Told Around 15 New Buses Standing in Maruthamalai Depot. So Maruthamalai Depot Replace all old Dubba Buses with New One. he told the route no's are 1C(3),1A,S26,70c/87,64c,64d,S15A/1C etc.,

and also in Opr depot i Saw Around 15 to 20 Buses(City,mfl) Standing In Past 20 days.

Any information for the Inaguration/hit on the road ?

Yes, This is Regular Activity of Cbe. Those oldies Transfer to Secondary Depots like Palladam,Karumathampatti,Pollachi,Mtp,Valparai and so on...

Do You Have any info about those Buses Inaguration Date ?

Not all BPRs are great in this route. I had one worst experience in a Chendur-Tuty-Madurai BPR. DolphinsTuti @ Arun can give more info on this route.
But once I had travelled from Madurai (around 5 am) to Tuty (7.30 - 7.45) in BPR which did the distance in 2.30-2.45 hrs. That too in between the heavy containers traffic early morning.

Friend salem-Cbe now a days hardly take only3hrs 15mins.I travelled many times even Tnstc slm doing good speed,compared to Tnstc Cbe,Setc now days there is no chance for 4.5hrs.:)

No Sir. Even the prime routes are operated with old buses now. We got few SS bodies for Pollachi and One SS Body for Udt. Only the UDT SS body is still there. All the SS bodies given to Pollachi depots are either operated in 33 Series route and 4 of them were transferred back to CBE city itself.

Atleast im expecting some refurbished buses for these three areas.

Yes, CBE alloted 4 SS Buses to Pollachi, after fare High, They Returned Those Buses to Cbe City, and transfer oldies to Pollachi.
But upcoming Allotments they do more important for Cbe city, and Allot some Few Buses to those Cities.

But in CBE Many buses Running in Good Condition (Like TN 38 N 1176,1024,1016,1175,1177 Etc.,). So They Transfer those buses to Poy/udumalai and Mtp Areas.

In Pollachi The last New Bus Allotment is 38 N 25XX . But those Buses Transfer to cbe. So the 38 N 962 and 963 is the last New Buses to still running Pollachi.

This is the only private bus operator in Villupuram to Chennai route. They always used to copy the TNSTC VPM painting(previously they had exact same red livery of TNSTC VPM). They have been operating this route for quite long.

Some other private buses are also there in Chennai - Puducherry route... I seen that buses which are same as TNSTC VPM old color.... They are also copying same paint color of TNSTC VPM......

Friend salem-Cbe now a days hardly take only3hrs 15mins.I travelled many times even Tnstc slm doing good speed,compared to Tnstc Cbe,Setc now days there is no chance for 4.5hrs.:)
Dear friend I agreed. Its only TNSTC-Dharmapuri Region. Tnstc Salem is utter waste and egual to TNSTC-Cbe only.
Last sunday SETC BGL-CBE covered Salem to Cbe Airpot in 3 hrs, the bus no is TN 01 N 7915 with one break at perumanallur

Not all TNSTC-Madurai guys are faster in this route. DGL region or even some VNR region buses are slower. Some of the DGL region buses often take more than 5 hrs. Only the BPRs take less time. 1.30 PM BPR of Madurai region normally covers the distance in 4.5 hrs.

Coimbatore-Madurai buses taking Pollachi, Palani route will take 5.5 hrs. These guys used to stop in Pollachi for 10 min, Udumalpet for <5 min and in Palani for 5-10 min.

Not all BPRs are great in this route. I had one worst experience in a Chendur-Tuty-Madurai BPR. DolphinsTuti @ Arun can give more info on this route. One day I have chased the Mdu-Cbe Bpr form Sulur to Palladam.Its accelerating like Tirupur Cbe private busses. After Karanampettai the bus was disappeared even I was maintaining 80-90 km speed. Its awsome from TNSTC-Mdu

Friends,
I have this problem which I thought I share here to get solution. I am not able to book bus tickets for TNSTC/SETC through the online portal. Everytime I put the source and destination and search the message that appears is "Invalid surce and destination, choose from the drop down box". No drop down box appears.. I tried changing the browser, bworser settings, different computer and lastly different user accounts and still the problem could not be sorted out.. Has anyone come across similar problems???

type Thanjavur or Madurai in source and wait . you can see the dynamic dropdown will shown and you can select the values.

COIMBATORE: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Coimbatore division will operate special buses to Ooty for three days from May 18 to clear the extra rush for the flower show.

The special buses would be operated from Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Pollachi, Tirupur and Erode, said a senior transport official. He said 45 special buses would be operated from Coimbatore to Ooty, another 15 buses each from Mettupalayam, Pollachi, Tirupur and Erode.

During last year the flower show attracted several people from far off areas and at least 8,000 passengers travelled everyday to Ooty. It is expected that this year more number of people would travel and the arrangements have been done in such a way that the buses can ply with at least 12,000 passengers or more in a day, he said.

He said that the corporation expects an increase of revenue collection from Rs 21 lakh last year to Rs 36 lakh during these three days this year.

Similarly, for visiting major five areas in Ooty, which includes Children Park, Rose Garden, Boat House, Botanical Garden and Dodabetta Peak, 15 circular buses have been arranged. Adults can travel for the whole day to these places by paying Rs 90 and for children Rs 50.:)

Likewise, another 20 park and ride buses have also been arranged for the tourist to travel within the city for a whole day. Adult can travel in these buses by paying Rs 10 and Rs 5 for children, he said. The frequency has been increased to reduce the waiting period and to control the rush, he added.

Its High time that Private Omni bus operators Like ABT and ARC start reducing the fares. When compared to others there fare is very high. I accept the recent increase in tax is main factor but still they fares are very high even before that Ex: Madurai chennai fare in ABT 620:ohno::ohno: while in Kalyan travels its only 550 same type AL semi sleeper bus which used by both.
I accept that ABT has an upper hand in customer satisfaction and good reviews. But small business traveler may prefer bus which has lesser fare without compromising on the quality.
Frequent travelers can check the authenticity of my comment.

I am a regular traveller. I am not justifying high fares from ABTX or ARC. The reason for slightly high fare than other travels is even with low occupancy ABTX/ARC dont cancel the trip. i have travelled recently with just 5 members in ABTX and they dont shout for tickets in each bus stand and they maintain some dignity. but with most other local travels either they cancel when low occupancy or they stop at each busstand and shout for passengers.
when it comes to timining and when you want to reach on weekdays you cannot trust local travels to reach in time but you can trust ARC/ABT,PARVEEN and KPN and similar branded travels. thats the difference.

i mentioned ABT/ARC as slightly high fares because KPN charges way too much in this route.

Actually SETC is planning to convert all its 12M AC buses to 12M 43+2 seater UD.. Slowly all of them will be converted. I have already posted one such converted UD.

Hi everybody..... Any idea when Volvo buses will be operated by SETC.......?
If SETC introduces Volvo buses in its main routes like NGL-BGL,KKI-BGL,MTM-BGL,TVM-BGL,TNV-BGL and from other parts of TN to Bangalore then KASRTC also will start operating in these routes......

Sahadevan sir one kind request, you have posted that you have done a paint work for Nesamony Transport trade union and you are seeing buses of tnstc for decades can you prepare a painting pattern for your buses, now all the buses getting jalra colours as uniform. if the buses are in three categories ordinary, limited stop and express what will be your choice, our neighbour state KL is using particular design and colour for their service, how will be our tnstc if the get a single colour based on their service category.

When SETC got AC buses, we got Madurai-Bangalore, Kanyakumari-Bangalore, Coimbatore-Bangalore, Trichy-Bangalore and Chennai-Bangalore buses. In that Chennai-Bangalore, Coimbatore-Bangalore and Trichy-Bangalore survived. CBE-Bangalore was operated with "No AC" sticker for long time. It was transferred bus+Route from TNSTC-Coimbatore.

Yes as mentioned by some minister Chennai will be connected first....... And one more main route will be Chennai - Bangalore....
Lets us hope they start soon and maintain them well......:)

In the announcement they mentioned that all dist HQ will be connected with Chennai with Volvos. They also mentioned that Coimbatore and Madurai will get connected first.

Have they changed the Bus for Madurai / Pilayarnatham (Thuvarankuruchi) via Sendurai, Natham.

Remebered travelling in TN 58 - N - 1004 some 2 years back to sendurai.Still 1003 & 1004 are serving Natham route. 1004 is still in good shape but 1003 is a good candidate for city bus conversion as seen in recent photos.

As seen in the 2nd snap, this guy plies to Devakottai from Trichy and seems to be used as offlink today. Since Devakottai & Madurai bays are closer in Trichy, they could have covered stickers in front windshield to avoid confusion.

Manapparai depot has a good presence in TRY - MIBT & hence operates few scheduled trips via Manapparai as well for connectivity or other technical reasons. There is also a Musiri depot guy doing Musiri - MIBT via Manapparai, Kulithalai.

Both TNSTC/SETC have to do immediate changes to re acquire their revenues which they lost with private operators. TNSTC should concentrate with short distance routes and first they have to remove their express tag. For eg: Erode-Cbe private bus charging Rs45 and covering the distance within 2 Hrs and the TNSTC collecting Rs 56 and covering the distance 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs. ERO 100 also doing 2.15 hrs.People get irritate by paying more money slow speed. Unnecessarily TNSTC losing revenues because of this idiotic attitude. Then SETC don't run every buses as UD and converting all luxury coaches to UD fare. This is not a clever choice. Introduce some 2 x 2 buses with express fair. This can be apply in additional routes going to taken from TNSTC and try some important routes like which omni buses running succesfully other than Chennai & Bangalore. Even Kesrtc also introducing some ordinery services like Rajadhani,Thirukuchi,and Malabar. These buses getting more income now. So TNSTC can try to serve for common people. SETC can try Kesrtc's Super express type buses for long distance within 300 km. If they try this I think they will get more revenues.

Regarding Rs.20 fare sticker,
Eventhough NGL-MTM is flooded with Inter-State and other buses thats too not enough so to get pax SETC started to collect this cut fare.

I have used SETC with Fare Rs.20 in MTM-NGL route in MTM-Bangalore 12M 48 seater. It took different route compared to the regular MTM-NGL or TVM-NGL buses. It took Colachal, Thingal Nagar route. Its a very good move by SETC to attract passengers.

TNSTC Kovai's TN33 N2703 doing Mettupalayam - Virudhunagar (Depot information not so clear, guys please excuse). A visitor of Gandhipuram BS too since he goes to Mettupalayam.

TNSTC Kovai's TN33 N2703 guy doing Tirupur - Sankarankovil (315 kms - this route may not escape acquisition by SETC).

Another TNSTC Kovai's TN33 N2500 Tirupur to Shencottah. But he must have been someother route guy beyond Nellai. So, sticker hidden I suppose. This route too may not escape acquisition by SETC.

TNSTC Kovai's TN33 N2703 doing Mettupalayam - Virudhunagar (Depot information not so clear, guys please excuse). A visitor of Gandhipuram BS too since he goes to Mettupalayam.

It is TN33 N 2452 of MTP-1 depot. Since it goes to MTP, it touches Gandhipuram BS.

TNSTC Kovai's TN33 N2703 guy doing Tirupur - Sankarankovil (315 kms - this route may not escape acquisition by SETC).

When did u clicked this? First time seeing this route.

Another TNSTC Kovai's TN33 N2500 Tirupur to Shencottah. But he must have been someother route guy beyond Nellai. So, sticker hidden I suppose. This route too may not escape acquisition by SETC.

It was built by Pallipalayam workshop. They had similar buses in some other routes towards south TN too. CBE region got such buses built by Pallipalayam workshop and they are running in CBE-Munnar(2 buses), CBE-Mangalore-Kollur(2 buses) etc., These type of buses are famous in ERO-100 services operated by erode region in CBE-ERD route.

I noticed the Meenakshi Mission hospital location already. :cheers: There you can get all buses bound to Trichy/SVG/Ramnad/Tuty/Nellai/Cape/VNR dists.

This route is so lucky to get the first two bus of the recently inaugurated new buses. Both are from OPR-2 depot. OPR depot is a huge one and it is already having two depots. If CBE region removes the junks present in the vacant area available, they can add one more depot OPR-3 in the same location. Hope they will consider this and construct OPR-3 depot.:cheers:

Thanks for the marco pics with updated livery. Once the refurbished buses hit the roads, we can expect this 976 to be part of Pollachi/MTP depots. :) BTW this is one good design for City services. These are around 10 yrs old.

After seeing that line, i was thinking about the song from "Tamizh Padam". She already used Pachai. :) Using the same livery with almost same design for both City and Mofussil services is the worst idea. They should actually go and look at our neighbour state KL to learn about the livery standardization.:bash:

The tender is Not released. But If Once The tender is released all those oldies are selled. So Lot of free areas available to Start OPR-3 Depot.

Chennai bound buses(Incl SPLs) from Madurai divn and regulars of Nellai divn buses used to cover the distance in 2 hrs to 2 hrs 15 min. Kum divn buses are worst.

Was on a quick round trip yesterday, CHN-SLM to attend ma friends marriage.

Up Journey: TNSTC-SLM 11.00AM CMBT
TN 30 N 0430 UD of J-2 depot
The driver was a khaki guy and all the buses including VPM expresses, KBM Exp, MDU exp overtook our bus on iour entire journey and Reached SLM New BS at 7:00PM , a loong 8hrs.

Really was amazed to see the private buses of Salem. To be frank, I was seeing such beautifull ypainted buses for the first time. One better than the Other... Out of that MRR seems to be awesome.. Another bus also seen in which a japanese lady's picture was on the side body..not remebering the name of the bus..
Didnt had much time to roam aroung in the bus stand , and my return journey was by the EKM-CHN SETC UD, a fairly maintained Green Bus. Started from Salem at 1:00AM and was at Perungalathur at 7:00AM, all Bye pass except VPM and TINDI and did not go to TBM although it was onlty 7 o clk and even the private buses like TAT. Bharathi etc... was goinbg tru TBM and lot of other SETC aslo... :(

Spotted lot of accidents on by way... Ulundurpet 2 accidents within 1km.
After Upet toll gate, towards TRY, Two lorry Collided, one seemed to be brand new, and , and just in another 1 km, Saw an accident in which 3 vehicles involved, 2 buses and 1 Lorry.
SVL travels, KP Travels and an Eicher Lorry. KP was banged from Front and Back, and the other two vehicles were banged ionly in the face. Seems KP is a total write Off. All the 3 vehicles were in the same direction, (TRY-CHN) on the same side of the road...

To be contd after a few hours... :DFirst time I felt impressed with DGL region guy TN 57 N 1874 in body built, livery, the way stickers are put over windshield, their tags etc. Most of the cases they would miss out in one or the other. See the guy 2001 who would make driver's "vision impossible" at the sticker area. Not sure if TN 57 N 1874 is also comfortable with interiors & particularly seating.:nuts:

This guy will also be taken over by SETC. 311 kms if via Dharapuram & 323 kms via Palani. Already SETC has 2 buses via DGL. What will SETC do with this additional guy?

TNSTC CBE will do a smart move by terminating it at KKDI. Anyday all Devakottai buses from try/mdu will be 85% occupancy for KKDI.

Again they use Sapthagiri luxury for their Tirumala bound luxury coach buses.

Wow, pleasure to watch these guys. The white blue guy that plies to Palani is a very sturdy guy I think :cheers:I have used this guy many times in AP. (Ghat eligible - These words are much remarkable in these guys. I have never seen these words anywhere else).

Once I used in CMBT - Tirumala too. They took some weird route after Manali and Puzhal lake (I guess it was SH114) and joined Chittoor somehow. This guy withstood the route that was of a very degraded quality :lol: Buses sturdiness testing routes I should say.

Btw, I saw your Nagercoil trip buses fanning pictures. Guess you had a great time bus fanning there :cheers:. TFS them over the internet.

சென்னையில் அரசு விரைவுப் போக்குவரத்துக்கழக பல்லவன் இல்ல பணி மனையில் 70 புதிய பஸ்கள் நிறுத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

இவற்றில் 16 பஸ்கள் புதுப் பொலிவு பெற்ற பழைய பஸ்கள். இவை அனைத்தும் கடந்த ஒரு மாதத்துக்கும் மேலாக இயக்கப்படாமல் நிறுத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

சென்னையிலிருந்து மதுரைக்கு இயக்கப்படும் அரசு விரைவுப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழக பஸ் ஒன்றின் ஒரு ட்ரிப் (சென்று வர) வருமானம் அதிகபட்சம் ரூ. 32 ஆயிரமாகும்.

பல்லவன் பணிமனையில் நிறுத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள 16 பஸ்களுக்கும் கணக்கிட்டால் நாள் ஒன்றுக்கு ரூ. 5 லட்சத்து 12 ஆயிரம் வருவாய் இழப்பு ஏற்பட்டு வருகிறது.

ஆரல்வாய்மொழியை அடுத்த குமாரபுரத்தில் இருந்து நாகர்கோவிலுக்கு இன்று அதிகாலை அரசு பஸ் ஒன்று வந்தது. பஸ்சில் 15 பயணிகள் இருந்தனர். பஸ்சை வில்லுக்குறியைச் சேர்ந்த டிரைவர் செல்லப்பா ஓட்டினார்.

வெள்ளமடம் அருகே வந்தபோது எதிரே நாகர்கோவிலில் இருந்து ஆரல்வாய்மொழி செல்லும் தனியார் கல்லூரி பஸ் வந்தது. அப்போது அரசு பஸ் அதன் மீது மோதாமல் இருக்க ஒதுங்கியபோது திடீரென பஸ், டிரைவரின் கட்டுப்பாட்டை இழந்து தாறுமாறாக ஓடியது.

சாலையின் ஓரத்தில் இருந்த தடுப்புச்சுவரில் பஸ் மோதி வயலில் கவிழ்ந்தது. இதனால் பஸ்சில் இருந்த பயணிகள் அலறினார்கள். சத்தம்கேட்டு அந்த வழியாகச் சென்றவர்கள் ஓடி வந்து மீட்பு நடவடிக்கையில் ஈடுபட்டனர். கவிழ்ந்த பஸ்சுக்குள் சிக்கி கிடந்த பயணிகளை மீட்டனர்.

போக்குவரத்து போலீசாரும் விரைந்து வந்து பயணிகளை மீட்டு அருகில் இருந்த தனியார் ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சேர்த்தனர். இதில் லேசான காயங்களுடன் மீட்கப்பட்ட 9 பயணிகள் சிகிச்சை பெற்று திரும்பினர். 6 பேர் ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

அவர்கள் விவரம் வருமாறு:-

1.செல்லப்பா (வயது 53), அரசு பஸ் டிரைவர். வில்லுக்குறி. 2. முருகையா (65) ஆரல்வாய்மொழி. 3. பிரேமா (60), கிறிஸ்து நகர், வெள்ளமடம். 4. கோல்டா செலின் இந்திரா (32), தோவாளை. 5. சுப்பிரமணியன் (44) கிருஷ்ணன்கோவில். 6. பாஸ்கர் (62), தோவாளை.

விபத்து குறித்து நாகர்கோவில் போக்குவரத்து போலீசார் விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகிறார்

Are you sure that bus reached Chittoor????? Chennai - Tirupathi buses never touch chittoor.. There are three standard routed used by Buses between Chennai and Tirupathi. They are as follows

Chennai - Tiruvallur - Tiruthani - Puthur - Renigunta - Tirupathi. This route has maximum no of buses (Route no 201 of TNSTC VPM/KPM)
Chennai - Tada - Kalahasthi - Renigunta - Tirupathi. This route again is by TNSTC VPM/KPM route no 200.. Pathetic back breaking road between Tada and Kalahasthi
Chennai - Periyapalayam - Uthukottai - Puthur - Renigunta - Tirupathi This is the route that all APSRTC including the ones that go beyond Tirupathi (Cudappah) take. This is the shortest route and APSRTC will have board at CMBT mentioning travel time of 3.5 hours.

You are right sir. Thanks for correcting me. It was this route which was very dilapidated. My bus took the above route. It was Puttur (Some Palavakkam also came in between (Not the usual Palavakkam in Chennai city)). But the route was very much abandoned type and was very bumpy and dusty also.

Me too. Any other APSRTC other than Tirupati/Tirumala bound guys have Ghat eligible stickers?

Not all are replaced. Still i have seen old buses running in this route.

+1 sir. I was able to see too many Rameswaram buses and a good number of them were new guys.

I walked from entrance to Cmbt inside this guy was standing near washing area suddenly i was shocked wow Tnstc vpm was superb i went to near by this was started to move then i watched reg no ,front windshield he was copy of Tnstc Vpm guy as usual copy made by private operator.

Usually private operator in Chennai - Pondicherry route will do always, to make people fool and use this bus. This guys will not go in bye-pass and have more number of stoppings, but Chennai - Pondy tnstc VPM buses(NOT ECR) will go in all bye-pass. The same Chennai - Villupuram guys also doing.

These are transferred buses to Erode region. Similarly Erode region have transferred TN33 buses to other regions like Madurai, Nellai, NGL etc.,

I once came by APSRTC by Thirumala - CMBT, It came via route 3. Worst route and worst experience, Almost took 5.30 or 6 hours to reach CMBT.
