TN 57 N 1391 in new livery, the first claim from Natham depot by recent livery disease in TNSTC's!!! Already TN 55 N 354, TN 63 N 1156 the passer by through Natham are infected by this disease apart from newbies TN 63 N 1524, 1525, TN 57 N 2081. TN 57 N 1391 plies in Natham - Alanganallur via Mulaiyur, Palamedu.

yesterday i traveled from chennai to nagercoil by SETC (chennai - kanyakumari) highway rider. I booked a ticket after seeing journey time 12 hours sticker. awesome journey for me. All the tickets are full at koyembedu, it took total 12.15 hours to reach nagercoil busstand. it went only inside tirunelveli busstand. The bus is a new type , good space to keep the legs and the speed of the bus is awesome. it overtooked almost all the buses. The only bus which overtook us is chennai-marthandam (trinelveli depot marthandam) bus. almost 15 minutes both marthandam and kanyakumari buses are in the race. but finally marthandam yellow colour bus wins the race. I think there is speed lock in the new setc buses. so they cannot go with full speed. i like this race.... so i guess may be marthandam bus arrived in 11.30 hours. can anyone tell the fastest bus from nagercoil to chennai. Is ACbus tnstc is good like this?

The fastest bus ( all over TNSTC and SETC) to chennai is 198 H, Nagercoil to Chennai, 4.30 pm departure from Vadasery.. it takes less than 12 hrs. and also that yellow colour marthandam to chennai always overtaken by the 198 H, nanjil rider... i used this bus for long time..

yesterday night traveled in ordinary 3*2 VPM bus to Salem from CMBT.

1. It was a special bus.. Chennai-Ulunderpettai bus was doing CMBT-SLM service.

2. As usual rush at CMBT!! And as usual traffic at Kalaignar arch.. bus left SLM bay at 22:30, but came to CMBT signal at 23:00hrs only. Buses were moving inch by inch, foul/urinal stinking smell and I have choosen wrong bus which was having less space compared to regular CMBT-SLM/TPJ bus.. and no air.. Imagine this condition in Chennai's high humidity even during night. :(

3. Once it left CMBT signal, bus was in good speed.. but again less air in the space where I was sitting. :lol: But the speed was good only till bye-pass expressway Toll plaza. After that buses were moving again inch by inch till Guduvancherry.

(I wonder when the nari pona NHAI will 8-lane+4 service lane +20 lane toll plaza the stretch b/w Tambaram and Ulunderpettai..:bash:)

4. The bus started to pick up after crossing singaperumal kovil (around 00:30hrs) and it didn't even enter VPM HQ, Villupuram bus stand... :shocked: It was on bye-pass everywhere till Attur. Usually VPM buses enters VPM bus stand at any cost and also Kallakurichi town.. This is the first time I saw a 3*2 bus was on VPM/Kallakurichi bypass.

5. It reached Attur at 05:00 and SLM by 06:45. Still Attur-Salem stretch is not completed... otherwise bus might have reached 06:00AM itself.

R.No 444 Vellore-Bangalore is so famous across passengers commuting between these two cities. TNSTC-VPM dominates this route and KaSRTC is getting an edge now. KSRTC uses the same route number for their buses too. Its very rare to spot a route number board in KSRTC buses, but we can see 444 number in their boards. Few pics of R.No 444 here.

One more route number for Vellore-Bangalore route: R.No 555 of Bangalore-Vellore operated by TNSTC-Villupuram(Vellore region). This is the only TNSTC bus to start from Bangalore Majestic BS. One more uniqueness is that it is the only TNSTC which runs in KA-AP-TN interstate state. SETC also has buses running via AP in Bangalore-Chennai route. Route is Vellore,Chitoor, Balamner, Mulpahal, Bangalore

I travelled to DGL, MIBT & KKDI from Natham this time. All these roads, which were once single laned have become complete double laned roads including the 1 km ever pathetic stretch in Natham sub-division bordering near Melur Sub-division towards KKDI. Bridge widening works are on at many places & completion of all such minor pending works would push our roads quality to NH standards. Even now, the better roads have substantially increased the number of lorries, cars (both private & public carriers) using our roads instead of MDU - DGL NH7, MDU - Trichy NH45B or beyond (both due to toll plazas), DGL or beyond - Sivgangai & PDKT district destinations.

Missed to click TN 33 N 2365 by few minutes. Expecting few more warriors from CBE region to pass through DGL, Natham towards SVGA, PDKT districts due to current better roads & <300 km route restriction by state government.

TN 57 N 1512 is deployed in MIBT - DGL via Natham & Sendurai. This guy does circular trip from Natham. His day's schedule is

Natham - MIBT
MIBT - Natham - Sendurai - DGL
DGL - Natham - MIBT
MIBT - Natham - DGL - Sendurai
Sendurai - Natham - MIBT
MIBT - Natham - DGL
DGL - Natham (Halt)

His trip from Natham - Sendurai - DGL - Natham is the circular route and Natham - DGL - Periyakulam - Theni - Usilampatty - Arappalayam - MIBT - Natham is another circular route by TN 57 N 2052. It took me 2 years to understand 1512's circular route (which was then served by TN 57 N 627) in my teen age.

Spotted Tirupathur - Tiruppur via Trichy, Tirupathur - RMM via Sivaganga & few others, but couldn't click due to the improper parking of buses @ Tirupathur with the people running behind buses with such a parking. Also spotted refurbished city bus TN 63 N 842 & newbie TN 57 N 2081 with white colured stage stickers all over (earlier it just had Palani & Karaikudi in maroon in front windshield only) moving towards Kottampatty from Tirupathur in the morning.

Already we saw in a dinamani news item stating 70 UDs of SETC are waiting in their central depot. I guess this time we can see atleast 500+ buses inaugurated on same day. Whether they will move all these buses to Chennai? :bash:

Y'day I have seen 4 new town buses parked inside TNSTC - SLM main office (Ramakrishna Road). Couldn't notice whether these are new ones or refurbished ones as these were parked deep inside the office.

In one of the bus, the route number was mentioned as 74. This route no is for the buses running between Old bus stand to Vazhapadi.

If these are new ones, then these will be the new city buses in Salem after 6 years AFAIK.

Hi Ramesh,

Yes it's very true...My recent trip with friends for a function to Karaikudi from Hosur via Dindigul only. It took 6.30 hrs of normal drive only. This is normally 40 KM extra but with less duration(Namakkal to Trichy is very very dangerous route for cars becoz of sand lorries). The Road between DGL and KKDI has improved a lot in 10 years and infact all the SH has in TN are in good shape now. Still the Duration in buses has not reduced.which TNSTC has to work on.TNSTC's were able to reach their destinations faster, but the timing problem in wayside towns is a problem in routes like DGL - KKDI as far as I understand. The bus which took 2 hrs from KKDI to Natham spent almost 20 mins in Natham bus stand itself for its time slot. Thuvarankurichi - Tiruppur bus was made to wait for 15 mins due to some problem created by DGL bound city express. Similar issue is being faced by KKDI bound buses @ Tirupathur. Buses beyond KKDI would waste time @ KKDI while Palani, Erode, CBE, TUP buses would waste time @ DGL due to this time slot problems denying the time savings reach passengers. TNSTC's should re-visit their time schedules and remove extra time created due to better roads. They should leave some buffer time at some specific towns for crew's few mins refreshment & to make up delays enroute due to road traffic & crowd at bus stands/ stops. The shunting services available from that town towards that direction should accordingly be made to depart 5 - 20 mins early/ late to fill in the gaps that arise between these long distancers. When our TNSTC's are struggling to make up operations of buses itself, long way to go....The only belief now is that reforms would start with transfer of TNSTC's 300+ km routes to SETC.

Seems there are no controllers for govt. buses & Omni buses in fares charged. They charge whatever they want & only warnings will be continuously given for omni buses but no action will be taken.

KKDI region charges 21 RS for 35 Km route Dindigul - Natham. Should be 15 rs (14.70 rounded off) if ordinary but they charge 16 rs and instead of 18 or 19 rs (18.20 rounded off) KKDI region charges 21 rs. Similarly their counterpart DGL region is charging 42 rs in Natham - Karaikudi for 66 kms. These guys are charging 60 paise/km in Natham - Dindigul & 64 paise/km in Natham - Karaikudi which is almost close to luxury buses(?) charge per km.

Then why the hell this government should announce 0.42 & 0.52 as charge/km for normal & express category of buses??? :bash::bash::bash: They can simply say every TNSTC will have their rates displayed @ buses & bus stands. Choose the ones you prefer!!!

Change of name from Madras to Chennai (in 1996?)was only in English. In Tamil that remained as Chennai as before. The board reads Chennai in Tamil & Madras in English. Is this the correct answer for your question?

For me, this model looks older than from 1994.

I am from a village, and my parents used to take me to Salem for shopping, and hospitals during my childhood. It will be like once in 2 or 3 months.

I always will sit on the right side of the town bus from my place to Salem just to watch the crossing TTC buses. I will dream to spot at least one of them. I used to count the number of TTC buses I spot. More the number of buses, happier I will be.

Really nostalgic to see these beauties again.

Especially, I like the font used on these buses (both on the destination board and on the sides).

I have heard that this bus was build in Kumbakonam body builders.
Everybody loved TTC bcoz of these innovative designs and their luxury coaches. At that period ohter corporation buses cannot overtake TTC buses and they performed as a real express buses. Once Mr.T.N.Sheshan(ex Election commissioner of India) was the cheif of Transport department the people would have adjust their wrist watches of seeing these express bus timings. Those golden days never come I think.

Currently, this route was maintained by TNSTC Kumbakonam (Trichy TN-45, Pudhukottai TN-55, Thuraiyur TN-45, Karaikudi TN-63), Madurai (Madurai TN-58, Virudhunagar TN-67), Tirunelveli TN-72 and also by SETC:nuts:

In this currently dept mostly maintains 1 to 1 between Trichy and Madurai which takes the 120Kms in 2 hours 15 min with a stoppage at Motel near thuvarankuruchi for 15 min.

The only bus which covers the distance in 1 hours 45 min is Trichy-Tiruchendur bus.

The North bound buses in this route 45B from Madurai are:

Some innovative designs were used in 1995 series like a open in top fixed glasses which were found NGL depot SETC TML buses as well as AL buses in Coimbatore depot. i heard from my uncle who is working in tnstc-cbe that erode region has planned to form depots at few new places inorder to reduce pressure on the depots .new depots will be
1.METTUR
2.ERODE-4
3.GOBI-2
4.KODUMUDI
5.COIMBATORE

he said vilankurichi depot will be for erode region.wat is ur opinion guys?

Currently main routes from kodumudi are served by Kangeyam depot of tirupur region. This is nice initiative.

Better they create vilankurichi depot for city buses. Many city buses of CBE city were operated by MTP and Pollachi depot. If we get new annur and vilankurichi depot, then city buses can be easily operated by this depots. Similarly they should form OPR-3 depot.

Not sure.. So many buses are waiting in the depots for inauguration. I guess they will do after pudhukottai by-elections. Waiting to see all the new buses in road.

Madurai - Trichy route was dominated by DCTC and a little share for MPTC. No other corporation served that route that time....except the chennai bound buses.

At that time PRC was operating buses from Sivakasi, Kovilpatti, Aruppukottai, Rajapalayam to Trichy. When Veeran Sundaralingam (Virudhunagar region) and Azhagu Muthukkone (Pudukkottai region) transport corps. were created PRC and MPTC buses were shifted to these transport corps.

Before 1983 most of the Trichy - Madurai buses were operated by CRC and few by PRC. CRC operated via Manapparai and it used to take 3 1/2 hours. PRC operated via Viralimalai and it used to take only 3 hours. At that time frequency was less, once every 30 minutes and all the buses used to stop at Thuvarankurichi for 10 minutes. PRC buses leaving Trichy would be able to catch the previous CRC bus at Thuvarankurichi and there would be race between these buses from Thuvarankurichi to Madurai. Sometimes people used to wait for PRC buses to save half an hour of travel. When CRC became DCTC they too started operating their buses via Viralimalai instead of Manapparai.

In Coimbatore SRT is Running 115 Kms... They have a Couple of buses running in Sathy to Pollachi..
Sathy-Pollachi Via Puilampatti, Annur, Somanur, Negamam.

The longest route should be Bangalore-Pondy via TN. Major portion of this route is via TN.

Similar we have Bangalore-Tiruvannamalai and Salem-Trichy.

There are few private buses (3 or 4) running between Erode and Mysore via Sathy....... I think the distance will be 180-210kms around (I dont know exactly.. Erode to Sathy is 62, Sathy to CH.Nagara is 65 and Ch.Nagara to Mysore is 65 i guess)....

Also we have Erode to Trichy via Namakkal by a private player NBS........ Distance is 140-150 kms around..

Among those, two are Karnataka based private operators and other were Erode based private operators...

First being a new route they should have allowed this route to settle down and after gauging this guy's performance overall including the lean days, they should have taken a decision to leave it byepassing DGL or route it via DGL. Then based on this, this guy should have been branded as 1-2-3 or NON STOP or HIGHWAY RIDER or whatsoever they wish.

If at all they are particular about the tags even with new routes, they could have made DGL as the 2 rather than Trichy. Hope this guy should be taking the Vedasandur - Vadamadurai route to merge in DGL - Chennai NH45. Instead of this road, this guy can take completely 4 laned Vedasandur - DGL - Chennai road. This would help this guy in boosting his performance on lean days rather than a 90 km run with empty seats till Trichy. If there are empty seats in double digits on usual days itself, then this guy could have been made to run via DGL itself & byepassing Trichy.

he said tirupur region will get new depots at nambiyur,permanallur,mulanur.Permanallur will be tirupur-3,nambiyur will be for avinashi.

erode-mettur services of tnstc-cbe is the monopoly for ANTHIYUR depot.this route has about 20 buses.in night most bus run empty to anthiyur for depot & maintance.mettur depot will help them

Bcoz for Chennai-Bangalore or the other short routes itselft they r charging about Rs 1500 per seat, if it goes to longer routes like u said the fare will definitely be double the amount or even bit more than that. Not many will think of spending that much...

The fact is Madurai-Chennai/Coimbatore-Chennai potential is much more compared to Coimbatore-Bangalore potential. So there will be enough takers for CBE/MDU-Chennai route with the fares for the respective distance.

I guess since Olivea is based in Bangalore, so they are concentrating only from Bangalore.

+1.. there wont be much fare difference between chennai-bangalore and chennai-Madurai. in the 1st case, KA state tax is more..so in the 2nd case, tax will be less.
also it is just another 120 km extra.
people will never mind as long as it is little bit less than flight charge.
with adequate boarding points within the city, it will be a better choice than a 1st class train journey..

Olivea is based in bangalore. It is owned by Nilgiri's(Blue Hill) group. Body is from DC(Dilip Chabaria) on top of B9R. I think they bought a 9400 Multi Axle and done the customization. Earlier it was called as Luxuria and later changed the name to Luxury and now it is called as Olivea.

As per their website, they also operate buses in Delhi-Agra, Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Ludhiana etc.,

R.No 137 is Madurai-Chennai route of SETC. If im not wrong, Marthandam depot operates that bus in R.No 137 Madurai-Chennai and that guy is moving back to its depot with same R.No 137 board.

TNSTC-Madurai uses R.No 202(202UD / 202AC) for Madurai Chennai route.

In the last inauguration we got two refurbished buses. All those two are from Erode region or this is one among that? I remember seeing a refurbished bus pic of erode region from you. Where is the other guy running?

SETC can target routes like this where people have no choices like TNSTC's or private players or trains. But these routes should be chosen & operations should be implemented with a keen watch out for every parameter to boost up patronage finally getting MONOPOLY.

Actually we had many body builders built these SLFs for Madurai, Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Nellai, NGL, Tuty etc.,

Some of the body builders i remember are Hari, Sakthi, Best, Prakash(For MTC-Chennai), KMS(For MTC-Chennai) etc.,

Madurai's SLFs were transferred to Nellai, NGL, VNR and DGL regions. Madurai regiond held some 50 such buses. Now all the SLFs which was held by madurai are back to their original city service. I saw many of them doing city service in NGL also.

One bus got converted in old shutter type windows and is doing city service job in Palani.

Saw a AL SLF TN58 N1446 in the new monnai livery color (Painting quality was also bad, I was able to see the blue paint beyond the cream paint, hope it goes off if it rains :lol: )

A month back I had to go to Palakkad from Chennai and back to Coimbatore and returned to Chennai.

Boarded Kallada Multi Axle (going to Kottayam or something) at Perungalathur at around 10.15pm, and reached Coimbatore Gandhipuram around 4.50am next day. It was a very good ride..
10-15 mins break at Coimbatore and reached Palakkad at 6.00am.. ride comfort was smooth and good except few sudden brakes..

பயணிகளின் தேவைக்கு ஏற்ப, அரசு விரைவு போக்குவரத்து கழகத்தினர் பஸ்களை இயக்கியதன் மூலம், கடந்த ஆண்டை காட்டிலும் இந்த ஆண்டு, கோடை மாத சராசரி வருவாய் உயர்ந்துள்ளது.

தமிழக அரசு விரைவு போக்குவரத்து கழகத்தின் சார்பில், "ஏசி', அல்ட்ரா டீலக்ஸ், சூப்பர் டீலக்ஸ் வகை பஸ்கள் என, 18 பணிமனைகளில் இருந்தும் மொத்தம், 905 பஸ்கள் இயக்கப் படுகின்றன. குறிப்பாக, சென்னை கோயம்பேடு புறநகர் பஸ் நிலையத்தில் இருந்து மட்டும், 420 பஸ்கள் இயக்கப் படுகின்றன. கோடையில் தென் மாவட்டங்களுக்கு செல்லும் பயணிகளின் எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரிப்பதால், மே மாதத்தில் பயணிகளின் தேவைக்கு ஏற்ப பஸ்கள் இயக்கப்படும். இந்த ஆண்டும், முக்கிய பணிமனைகளில் இருந்து, நள்ளிரவு வரை பயணிகளின் தேவைக்கு ஏற்ப, நிர்வாகத்தினர் பஸ்களை இயக்கினர்.

வருவாய் உயர்வு: பஸ்களை முறையாக இயக்கியதன் மூலம், கோடை மாதமான மே மாதத்தில் சராசரி வருவாயும் உயர்ந்தது. கடந்த 2011ம் ஆண்டு மே மாதம், ஒரு நாள் சராசரி வருவாய், ஒரு கோடியே 10 லட்சமாக இருந்தது. இந்த ஆண்டு, ஒரு கோடியே 40 லட்ச ரூபாயாக வருவாய் உயர்ந்துள்ளது.இதேபோல், 2011ம் ஆண்டில் கோடை காலத்தில் ஒரு நாளின் அதிகபட்ச வருவாய், ஒரு கோடியே 43 லட்ச ரூபாயாக இருந்தது. இந்த ஆண்டு, ஒரு கோடியே 63 லட்ச ரூபாயாக உயர்ந்தது. குறிப்பாக, சராசரி வருவாய், 35 சதவீதம் வரை உயர்ந்துள்ளதாக, அரசு விரைவு போக்குவரத்து கழக அதிகாரிகள் தரப்பில் உறுதி செய்தனர். மேலும், இந்த ஆண்டு பஸ்களில், 30 சதவீதம் பயணக் கட்டணம் உயர்த்தப் பட்டுள்ளது. இதனால், சராசரி வருவாய், 5 சதவீதமே உயர்ந்துள்ளது.

குளிர்சாதன பஸ் இயக்கம்: குளிர்சாதன வசதி கொண்ட பஸ்களையும் அதிகளவில் இயக்கியிருந்தால், கூடுதல் வருவாயை பெற்று இருக்க முடியும். இந்த ஆண்டு, 50 குளிர்சாதன பஸ்கள் இயக்கப்பட்டன என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. கோயம்பேட்டில் இருந்து, வேளாங்கண்ணி மற்றும் பெங்களூரு பகுதிக்கு "ஏசி' பஸ்களின் தேவை உள்ள போதிலும், குறிப்பிட்ட பகுதிகளுக்கு "ஏசி' பஸ்கள் இயக்கப் படவில்லை. இதேபோல், பகல் பொழுதில் பயணிப்பவர்களும், "ஏசி' பஸ்கள் இல்லாமல் சிரமத்திற்கு ஆளாகினர். பயணிகளின் வசதிக்கு ஏற்ப "ஏசி' பஸ்களை இயக்கியிருந்தால், மேலும் வருவாயை ஈட்டியிருக்கலாம். இதேபோல், தயார் நிலையில் உள்ள 70க்கும் மேற்பட்ட புதிய பஸ்களையும், உடனடியாக இயக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும். தனியார் சர்வீஸ் போல, குளிர்சாதன பஸ்கள் குறித்த நேரத்தில் புறப்படுவதுடன், பகல் நேரத்தில் இயக்கப்படும் நேர வசதிகளுக்கு ஏற்ப, இவற்றை இயக்க வேண்டும். அதன் மூலம் மேலும் வருவாய் அதிகரிப்பதுடன், பயணிகளும் அதை வரவேற்பர்.

Average revenue of SETC has gone from last year's 1 crore 10 lakh to 1 crore 40 lakh this year. This figure is a day's average revenue during May. I don't think it is a great achievement considering the entire year passing over, fare hike, SD's being charged with UD fare and on the other end will be drained off as fuel fare. Yesterday I traveled in TN 58 N 1777 from Dharapurm to Cbe changed to the new livery. First I didn't notice the No and I thought it was a new bus as appeared so. But the Engine sound(even it was TML) and the inner appearance looks like a new one. After reaching Covai I noticed the No. It was well maintained by the TNSTC-MDU.

yes sir... i was asking only this SETC or all the buses from kumbakonam goes in ECR route? because Anaikarai bridge is repaired now and i saw a news clip that buses takes Anaikarai route.
