Just for the sake of few buses new depot will be formed in another region? Erode - Mettur i dont think have 20 services by one region alone. Its dominated by DRP region than its parent Salem region by number of routes and fleet especially DRP-Erode, Hosur- Erode, Palani, CBE, Gobi, Kgiri- Erode, and Erode- B'lore, etc. Even Tnstc Salem has less bus between Mettur and Erode which has depot in Mettur.

mettur depot is mainly to reduce pressure on ANTHIYUR & BHAVANI depots.bhavani depot is such a small depot .it handles about 87 buses.it is formed to operate long routes from mettur like palani depot.cbe depot is to operate more serivices from cbe by erode region.kodumudi depot is already a sub-depot of karur depot.it is going to be a full-fleged depot.he also said that said that salem division is planning a depot in erode to reduce burden on sankagiri & tiruchengode depots of slm division

Salem division shd have a depot in Kallakurichi which is much needed because most buses run empty at night to Attur for maintenance and return in early morning to Kallakurichi mostly empty again because of more pvt players and more frequency. If they can curtail those night trip just to reach depot for maintenance they can serve more efficiently. From the evening till midnight there are lot of buses between Kallakurichi and Attur marching towards Salem(especially buses from CUD, VPM and Chennai leave one after another in less than 5 mins), so the buses unnecessrily make this trip. Best example is KUM s Chidambaram depot where they start their service n serve all their delta towns. Erode depot is much needed for Tnstc Salem as it operates a lot of buses to Erode.

i can say that say tat there are 20 buses in this route becoz my uncle is checking inspector of tnstc.moreover except ERODE-METTUR service anthiyur depot also operates the following routes passing via mettur
1.ERODE-BANGALORE
2.TIRUPUR-DHARMAPURI
3.COIMBATORE-METTUR(VIA:ERODE)
and few more.this will taken over by mettur depot

Guys, i was virtually disconnected from net for a long period of time and this is my first post after almost a month.

I recently was having a chat with the driver and conductor of TNSTC Kancheepuram region bus. I had talks regarding formation of new TNSTCs and SETC taking over 300+ kms routes. The following were their reply:

1. Regarding formation of new TNSTCs:
The no of regions is going to be the same and the no of employees, buses are also going to be the same. This is just to create additional posts in the higher level (new MD) and some other ways to loot money. Formation of TNSTC Vellore will definitely take a hit on collections of both TNSTC VPM and Vellore. May be, some additional depots may be formed after splitting.

2. Regarding SETC taking over 300 km+ routes:
We may loose control on Chennai - Salem and Chennai - Tiruchirapalli. The latter is just 20 kms extra. So, i think we may retain control on it. In no way, they (SETC) cant operate specials. This is also indirectly encouraging private operators to operate buses to Chennai. TNSTC Kumbakonam ( TNSTC Srirangam) can operate specials to Chennai from Tiruchirapalli, but we cannot. There are rumors that Chennai alone will be given an exception as the TNSTCs were operating buses to Chennai since Dr. MGRs regim and this is a rich cash-cow route that some Regions are not wanting to loose. Some GM/RMs are also opposing to this move / seeking exception to Chennai alone.

yesteraday .i saw a refurbished bus of kanchi region(TN32N2178) of madhurangthagam depot running kalpakkam to tiruchy via :tindivanam.is this a new route or old one guys?

At the fag end of ADMK rule, there was an issue of installing Kamaraj statue in the traffic island at Veppamoodu (வேப்பமூடு) junction, Nagercoil. Government was opposed to the Venue. Powerful district congress attempted for themselves, government tried to remove. In the melee, it was said there was a damage/insult to the statue. So it was time for the alliance party to show its strength. Entire Kanyakumari District went isolated from rest of India for the next three days. Lots of buses had to bear the brunt of protesters. Many practised free driving:bash:

In the end, Kamaraj statue was reinstalled:) Political alliances changed. NTC lost its glory and never regained. The corporation then switched on to basic models and liveries because of heavy loss. People are the sufferers, as usual.

Bharathiyar though the name was Mahakavi Barathiyar Transport corporation was mentioned at BTC only, was formed in early 1994 or late 93 with all ooty, coonoor, Gudalur and Kotagiri Depot buses of Cheran transport corporation.. A small proportion of CTC from MTP depot also became BTC.. The first set of TN43 buses came in May 1994.. (TN43N0001 to 0010).. The next set was from 0011 to 0020.. All these twenty were Cheran built.. 0021 to 0046 were my most favourite ones which were Jeeva buses transferred to BTC (wide body, broad seats).. In this lot 0033 and 0036 were exceptions and were built by Cheran with one single front door, sleeper for second driver (SETC type). These two served ooty chennai till they were replaced by 0081 and 0082 in 1995..

Veeran Alagumuthokon was probably the last division that was created from Marudhu Pandiyar if I am correct..Within months of its creation eveything began TNSTC from July 1997...!!!! Members who are aware of MPTC/ Pudukootai/ KMU buses may throw in more details...

yes there were lot of problems on naming the corporations and that caused huge problem. then DMK government sqaured of everything as TNSTC with few corporations only. In this mess up, Trichy lost its own corporation..

Really golden days of TTC. Computer reservation in 1989? TTC should be the best corp. All are gone because of worst policies. We had buses travelling 20 hrs. :cheers:

What Subbu has presented above is First bifurcation of 6 transport corporations. Cheran divided into cheran and Jeeva, Cholan - Cholan and Dheeran chinnamalai, Thanthai Periyar - Thanthai Periyar and Pattukottai Azhagiri, Kattabomman - Kattabomman and Nesamony and Anna - Anna and Annai Sathya. When all these transport corporations were divided once, Pandiyan was bifurcated twice - Marudhur Pandiyar in 1983 and Ranimangammal in 1986. In 1980 PTC express service was hived off and named as Thiruvalluvar

Further bifurcations were carried out after 1990 CTC was again bifurcated and Bharathiyar was formed. PRC was bifurcated third time and Veeran Sundaralingam was formed, Veeran Azhagu Muthukkone was carved out of Marudhupandiyar, Ambedkar trasport carved out of PTC and JJTC carved out of TTC.

Veeran Sundaralingam was close associate of Veera Pandia Kattabomman. It seems Veeran Sundaralingam was dalit. So when Virudhunagar based transport corp. was named as Veeran Sundaralingam transport corp. (during DMK rule), some castes objected to it and to avoid further trouble, all the transport corp. were renamed as TNSTC. Thus we lost good historical names like Cheran, Cholan, Pandiyan etc.

Good to see atleast a very small difference the extreme outer lines are darker brown colored and the interior one is maroon colored whereas in other buses all the three lines are more or less of the same color.

View from inside. Saw a bus which had floor that appeared to be affected in earthquake with the bus getting split in the centre. :bash::bash::bash: Without knowing the complete maintenance aspects, parties in power just keep going in for such premium buses. Our crew spoils it due to their negligence as usual & inadequate spares, handling knowledge. Finally its all tax payers money.

True.. I always support for tirupur in this case. Tirupur really need one more depot for operating city buses plus we need depots at Avinashi, Vellakoil and even we can have one more near palladam or in perumanallur.

All these 234X buses of CBE region were built by Pallipalayam and these guy had front door alone. I have seen this guy only once in CBE on a cut trip and missed to get a click.

Here you go :) (Pictures are not of usual quality since Mobile camera was deployed as I didn't have my cam with me)...

Trichy has many old buses running here and there as city buses (The private bus operators are the messengers of EmaDharmaRaj there, they rocket through a street of their bus's very width (they are one ways here) clocking top speeds and claim the lives of other road users and doing hell by violating road rules in all possible ways and abuse the one coming in the opposite driving direction and following rules correctly). The bus's interiors could be given plastic handles since Trichy being one of the boiling cities in TN (Including Chennai, Vellore, Madurai, etc.) the hollow steel handles deliver heat energy from the Sun with more than 85 percentage efficiency, it burns our hand :lol:.

And if only the private buses are banned (and a minimum of 100 buses i.e a mix of SLFs, etc are given in an urgent basis and new routes explored, the situation will ease down), public will make use of TNSTC buses (I saw many prefering privates over TNSTC due to low fares, etc) and accidents could be brought down.

The new paint pattern looked better on these buses when compared to the green+grey and green+white livery since they were very much old.

When SLFs were introduced (the orange liveried ones), I was able to see a good number of them in road in Trichy (People could remember it when Thaathaa reduced SLF fares equal to normal ones as election stunt i.e Trichy was under K.N Nehru (Transport Minister) at that time, but rolled back). I don't know what happened to those buses.

This is a real surprise. When you told me about this TN01(Ex MTC), i thought it is from Trichy region. So pudhukottai region running this to trichy. I have seen Ex MTC guys in Kumbakonam, Tanjore, Sivagangai, Karaikudi(lil bit doubt) etc.,

Coming to SLFs.. Trichy got 25 SLFs along with Coimbatore and Madurai. Coimbatore got 25 more SLFs and Madurai went on adding 150+ SLFs for Madurai city and TNSTC-Madurai gave SLFs to its other regions too. Two SLFs of Trichy region were modified with 3X2 seats and are running in Trichy-Madurai route. I remember seeing few SLFs transferred to TNSTC-VPM and they were running in Chennai.

Kumbakonam divn got many vestibules compared to other divn and they are really in bad shape. Trichy vestibules were kind of ok compared to other Kum region's vestibules.

I meant kumbakonam divn vestibules.. The one you clicked is also from Kumbakonam divn only. I have used vestibules of Kum divn in trichy, tanjore and pudhukottai. Vestibules in Tanjore were registered in TN45(Trichy region).

Liveries were selected by TNSTCs. JNNURM didnt have any mention about the livery usage. One good thing was JNNURM AL SLFs of Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore had same livery and all were really good. In case of Marco, Yellow livery was too good and blue, orange is not so bright. Already we lost one yellow liveried marco in madurai. 1798 got this new livery already.

We dont have 1162 in Madurai. I think 1162 is running in Salem. We have five TN58 registered vestibules. Two are transferred to TNSTC-Salem and they are running in Salem and Hosur. Three are there with us and they are with Nagar, Ponmeni and Thirumangalam depots.. Following are the pictures of all TN58 registered vestibules.

Currently AL alone have vestibule buses. Overall length of a vestibule bus as per AL website is 16M.

The bus that I used to go to Trichy from Madurai. Went into all possible towns including some Kovilpatti and Kaikaatti, etc. and made the distance in 2 hours 45 mins. But see the name "Express" it says :lol:

I doubt TTC had depot or sub-depot in Bangalore, definitely KSRTC would have asked for the same in Chennai

When SLFs were introduced (the orange liveried ones), I was able to see a good number of them in road in Trichy (People could remember it when Thaathaa reduced SLF fares equal to normal ones as election stunt i.e Trichy was under K.N Nehru (Transport Minister) at that time, but rolled back). I don't know what happened to those buses.

The Trichy region SLFs where sent to the Villupuram region (Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts.) and for sending they had got the ordinary buses from the Villupuram region. The TN-21, TN-23 and TN-32 town buses which were playing at trichy had came at that time.

The above bus route no - 21 Lss was came at that time only. These mofussil buses which were converted to the town buses.

The purpose of the visit is to empower the officials with emerging trends in public transport. They will be travelling and participating in seminars on ‘intelligent transport systems’ and studying the transportation modules which could be emulated here with a few modifications, according to the needs, on their return.

The team left Chennai on May 31 and would travel across the length and breadth of Australia, and be back on June 10, sources added.

This learning experience would help the department achieve the goals set by the chief minister in her Vision 2023 document regarding public transportation.

@all : Any pictures of TN58 N1840? Saw that with new :puke: paint pattern and running as city bus today (Guess it is given to city bus service). It was having Bypass rider sticker over the window glasses.

This year also during transport department debate, he mentioned the same.

Had been in Dindigul for four years and have seen only 2, 3 private buses to Trichy from Dindigul (Have seen their buses full on almost all times but don't know why there is no increased number) but have seen a good number of private buses to the towns in Trichy NH like Vadamadurai, Ayyaloor, Manappaarai (transit point for Pudukottai ppl), Balaviduthi (off NH), etc. from Dindigul

Yesterday i went to coimbatore i took Tnstc Salem Sangagiri depot bus [dabba bus ] as usual first left two rows conductor not allowed to sit gents.Bus front side had 4 big paint tins one small tin some spares etc.6.10am dep in Salem cbs 9.50reched Covai bus stand bus steering total body was shacking above 30kms speed,see the engine bonnet is like old model buses.on the way bus went to inside Sagagiri depot i seen lot of Bus bodies with out chassis nearly 20nos i guess .I tried to took snaps inside bus some snaps i posted above.On the way 2 accidents near karumanthapatty one school girl crushed by lorry spot dead peoples protest for half an hour,next swift meet accident with lorry back side,on return i used TML Salem bus bus was good in speed 3.30hrs journey saw another accident near karumanthapatty Tnstc Erode region bus collide with lorry totally 3 accident yesterday in Salem-covai road. :ohno:

i thiink it belongs to TEN depot. TEN to tirupur departures at 10.30 pm from tirupur and by seeing the accident time (4.30 am) near madurai, it is not belongs NGL depot and also the driver belongs to tutucurin..

Only One Refurbished Town Bus is Running in CBE City(TN 38 N 1252). And ERD Region Is Running One Refurbished Moffusil Bus In Last Inaguration.

Yesterday surprised to see an refurbished town bus in trichy, was on move and unable to capture it, it was TN 45 N 24(or 5)XX series one.

Back to home now. Good that they got this vestibule back. They even removed the melur route stickers in few glass panels. This is the second time they protested and got back this vestibule.


Finally, the poor Marco TN58 N1798 :(
If the paint job was done properly, even this livery will look good for this marco. But overall the yellow livery was the best looking livery for our marcopolos.

We had few TN45 registered new city buses in Tanjore. Below is one TN45 registered city bus. Clicked it when it was introduced there. Looks like the body itself was built by Kum region. Not sure about the condition now.

One of the oldest route we have. We have two buses 2340 and 2341 running in this route. Both are single door buses(Front door alone) built by erode region.

Munnar has two buses from CBE whereas Kodai has just one bus from CBE and that too it starts from MTP. Hope we will get 1/2 more buses in CBE-Kodai route.

Yes, paint job is done in haste (One good thing is I got a picture of 1798 with its yellow livery when I had some random clicks). Was worst on the 10R route running AL SLF also. Yellow was great, blue was also nice. The orange was not good, they may think of new livery color for orange Marcos alone. :(

Good old town bus in the far left. I have vivid memories of traveling in these which were running as city buses in Madurai about 8 to 10 years back. Now a good number of these kind of buses are running in Dindigul, etc.

After long long search, i got my favorite city express bus with its best looking livery of TNSTC-Madurai. Thanks SMRRamesh for sharing the link. I hope it is not posted here earlier.

I rememeber my school days during which Student Bus Pass holders were not entitled to travel in this bus. My school was TVSMHSS and I used to see this bus pass by the Palanganatham Bus stop. We used to gaze at this bus and used to board the blue LSS and red ordinary buses using which we go to Periyar and board again a bus to Therkuvaasal (Those days buses were somewhat less and 49 and 14 i.e through routes to therkuvaasal were even less), I preferred using number 4 routes via South Masi street which were chocolate colored ones. :cheers:

Am able to see TN58 N055X (older than these?) in Madurai city routes which are still in the same shape but definitely not the same gethu color (they are now in white and blue) and have got a bit old age look.

The real kings! I have used them in many routes.. 48, 48* and 48AD are my regular routes to reach Arapalayam. Initially all of them were AL and later we got few TMLs(From Ponmeni depot) too. Still we have 595, 596, 597, 600, 605 etc., running in madurai. Some of them are there in my album too.

I didnt remember about this J service. RSubbu.mdu said about this "J" service once. I was not there in madurai at that time. :)

I don't think the Poo market stop existed before the Orange SLFs came. It became an official stop only after the Orange SLFs arrival. (I may be terribly wrong, please correct me in that case).

To my knowledge it was there.. Since i haven't used that route many times during the city express era, i'm not able to get it exactly.

Might be one of the longest route by PRTC, there is no other way, why the bus is going through Trichy


The longest route of PRTC is Puducherry to Mahe. All the three important long routes of PRTC from Puducherry to Mahe, Kumily and Nagercoil, connect Neyveli T.S, upon which PRTC is cashing good (each bus has 10 seats for Neyveli Quota)... The introduction of Neyveli to Marthandam bus from SETC will definitely take a beating on already affected Puducherry - Nagercoil PRTC bus.

I dont think that will ever happen.... Simple reason is that PRTC services are anyday better than SETC and their crew are far more friendly than SETC crew.. I was a regular in Chennai - KAraikal sector till recent past.. Inspite of so many buses/ omni buses, it is PRTC which gets full before any of the other buses.. They have advance booking/token for most of their long distance buses from the time I know and PRTC always has a loyal crowd... A small example - way back in 2004 when I had to travel from Karaikal to chennai, on a sunday the ECR (611) was full and ultimately I managed to get one seat in 601 (via Tindivanam).. My ticket was booked on friday!!!!. On sunday night while I was at the bus stand I found a 326 (SETC) shouting for Chennai!!!!!

Somehow PRTC realised the importance of Neyveli and had quotas in their buse.. In 2006 when the no of buse PRTC had increased, two buses were pressed in Neyveli - Karaikal route which was an instant hit then... Soon additional services were added to chennai (from Karaikkal).. Earlier there were two in morning (ECR/ Tindivanam) and two in night (ECR/Tindivanam).. The Thirunallar Volvo came sometime in 2005 ( drthalapathy's pic). Then a early morning shift timing ECR chennai followed by 2.30 pm and then 3.30 pm services.. Now I guess there are more services..

Well to cut the whole story short... PRTC will continue to have its loayl crowd for their better service and surely TNSTC or SETC cant match them in that...

J service had limited stops, I remember two routes, 48J P&T Nagar-Tirumangalam, 11J (Periyar –MG Nagar). During my school days, when J service was introduced, I skipped my regular bus and hopped on to a “11J” service just to see what this service was all about. The conductor seeing a school kid boarding the bus asked me get down at the next stop without buying a ticket as the “J” service fares were high. But I told him that I would like to continue and enjoyed my first and last trip on a “J” service. I was unhappy with 48J as it did not stop at my bus stop and only thing I could do was to see it passing by my stop many a times.

City express services were a instant hit when they were launched in Mdu. My favorite one was 22 city exp (TN58N 0234). The driver on this route used to drive like a maniac as if a ferrari was given to him and the stops this service had were very very less. It used to have a tape and speaker system and used to play latest songs. This service was so famous that, our leftist to pin it down once pasted posters around the city calling it “Cheating express”.


PRC(TNSTC MDU) was at its peak durin 1990 – 1995. To my knowledge at that time, it was the only corp running 3*2 buses with full cushion seats (just like the 2*2 UD seats) without push back. Buses were very well maintained and on my journeys from Erode to Mdu I have seen even JTC conductors advising people travelling all the way to Mdu to use the PRC (VNR depot) bus to Mdu which started 30 mins after JTC as any way PRC will over take JTC mid way.(JTC used to have speed lock and PRC did not have it).
Nostalgic days!!. Those were days when I used to often think, why I alone in this world do I have so much interest in buses. No longer , after I saw/interacted with other fans on the net.

The Puducherry - Mahe service has the unique distinction of crossing two states to reach a territory in its own state!!

Did PRTC run any service to Yanam any time ?

Not sure exactly. But it should cross 100+ for sure. Seating capacity itself will come around 70 or so.I remember it to be 68+3 in MTC. Should be the same across TNSTC's as well.

Members - Thanks for sharing recent pictures of various STC's. I love Trichy region's stickers very much when they were in 15xx - 19xx. They follow standard sizes of yellow stickers for front, rear windshields & top glass panes according to the size of the glass. I feel, they were the ones who brought some revolution among TNSTC's in stickers. But compared to that I feel Trichy has little gone down in its stickers nowadays. Their "தி" for Trichy & other places then used to be bit different which is also missing now.:ohno:

We had few TN45 registered new city buses in Tanjore. Below is one TN45 registered city bus. Clicked it when it was introduced there. Looks like the body itself was built by Kum region. Not sure about the condition now.

This series bus in Trichy city is good even now, but poor maintenance, and few months back it got the traditional Green livery of trichy, and now are in the uniform.

This is not a hill rider. This is a regular viking built by Pasumalai workshop and it is from Puranagar depot. We have similar buses to Thekkadi from Madurai.

Thanks for the info, i correctly guessed one of the longest routes, its nice of PRTC to connect Neyveli in a good way, which gets regretted by TNSTC.

Me too feel and experienced the same, as i roam a lot with my buddies in college and used to take photos all would mock at me for doing such things and now many in my hostel come to ask me regarding the trains and buses to fix their travel itinerary.

Yes you are right now i am noticing that the new buses after changing to the uniform not having any numbers sticked or the routes too in it in trichy city, thats really bad, that i missed my bus to home (thought left 3 buses to reach nearby stop) which passed me unnoticed due to the change of color and later walked a km to my home:nuts:

12 buses built over new chassis in Nagercoil depot for Nagercoil region :cheers: And in final stages. (News says that Nagercoil region was allotted 115 buses in 2011-12 and 20 buses that were built in Ranithottam and Nellai depot inaugurated 2 months back). Inauguration of new buses may be in this month end :banana:

I dont think that will ever happen.... Simple reason is that PRTC services are anyday better than SETC and their crew are far more friendly than SETC crew.. I was a regular in Chennai - KAraikal sector till recent past.. Inspite of so many buses/ omni buses, it is PRTC which gets full before any of the other buses.. They have advance booking/token for most of their long distance buses from the time I know and PRTC always has a loyal crowd... A small example - way back in 2004 when I had to travel from Karaikal to chennai, on a sunday the ECR (611) was full and ultimately I managed to get one seat in 601 (via Tindivanam).. My ticket was booked on friday!!!!. On sunday night while I was at the bus stand I found a 326 (SETC) shouting for Chennai!!!!!

Somehow PRTC realised the importance of Neyveli and had quotas in their buse.. In 2006 when the no of buse PRTC had increased, two buses were pressed in Neyveli - Karaikal route which was an instant hit then... Soon additional services were added to chennai (from Karaikkal).. Earlier there were two in morning (ECR/ Tindivanam) and two in night (ECR/Tindivanam).. The Thirunallar Volvo came sometime in 2005 ( drthalapathy's pic). Then a early morning shift timing ECR chennai followed by 2.30 pm and then 3.30 pm services.. Now I guess there are more services..

Well to cut the whole story short... PRTC will continue to have its loayl crowd for their better service and surely TNSTC or SETC cant match them in that...

I agree with your whole point. Even, i am one of the loyal customer of PRTC. Every weekend i come and go by PRTC, even though I dont reserve tickets for Monday morning return journey to Chennai. But, old buses, high fuel costs, politics and corruption in puducherry and in PRTC, will spoil the whole good name of PRTC. Now, in Puducherry ECR Chennai Sector TNSTC Kancheepuram region is matching PRTC in all terms and especially in speed and travel time, they beat PRTC. The new buses of TNSTC are going at super speed.

SETC can nowhere be compared to PRTC and TNSTC. PRTC is plying a bus that is more than 7 yrs old, in its prime route Puducherry - Chennai. The amount PRTC has spent in doing FC for their buses, they could have bought new buses. Infact, the operational ratio of buses and the punctuality of buses, PRTC is getting poor and poor day by day. While, the local (town) bus routes are running short of drivers, the mofussil routes are running short of buses. PRTC is now, plying only 7 buses in ECR, which is supposed to be 10 (they have permits for 10 buses).

Also, they are loosing revenue by operating 2*2 seater buses in Chennai route. Pls check out the following comparison (rough estimation):

PRTC: Single Trip Revenue: Rs: 97*46 + standees.
Diesel Consumed: 150 (approx) lts / day.

TNSTC: Single Trip Revenue: Rs 97*55 + standees.
Diesel Consumed: 120 to 125 lts / day (approx)

TNSTC Kancheepuram buses get more take in more crowd per day. The highest revenue they can earn in a single day is approx Rs 29000 on Sundays, where 2 of the 4 trips they operate, get loaded fully.

Its high time PRTC take some measures to increase the revenue.
FYKI, around 47 buses cum chaises are pending to be delivered for PRTC, since 2008. They are yet to take them due to lack of revenue.

The Puducherry - Mahe service has the unique distinction of crossing two states to reach a territory in its own state!!

Absolutely. The introduction of train in this sector has taken a beating on the collection of this bus. Even after the introduction of a UD, this bus used to allow standing.

Eearlier this bus used to operate with 3 drivers in the following sectors:
1. Puducherry to Erode.
2. Erode to Palakkad.
3. Palakkad to Mahe.

Only after the UD, this bus in going with 2 drivers from starting to end.

Did PRTC run any service to Yanam any time ?

Nope. They havent even though of it. They can operate a Ultra Deluxe in this secor. It is just around 870 kms. Instead they are fighting against central govt to extend the Kakkinada (nearest rly station to yanam) Chennai Sarkar Express to Puducherry, atleast once a week.

Already there was an inauguration on april beginning by CM. Why another inauguration within couple of months. Simply they can allot the buses to their respective divisions. Wasting the time and wasting the money.

In tirupur region only tirupur city and palani got two depots.

Present Tirupur-1 and palani-1 are erstwhile cbe region depots. Similarly tirupur-2 and palani-2 are erstwhile erode region depots..

Palani-1s operation are mainly towards poy, cbe, mtp and kl routes. Palani-2 operations are towards tirupur, erode, Salem etc.,

Actually in 1998, Kalpakkam was stage only in SETC (SETC did not have Mahabalipuram as stage then). TNSTC, PRTC did not have Kalpakkam as stage. I am assuming that Kalpakkam Township you mean as Kalpakkam II is actually Anupuram. (which is also near to Great Lakes Institute). . Also 10 is not Panaiyoor, Panaiyoor is beyond Kalpakkam near Kadapakkam I guess. Or are mentioning Payyanoor/Poonjeri/OMR Kootroad as 10 in Mahabalipuram?.This is news to me (Even last year Kalpakkam-Mahabalipuram were the next stages)

While I understand 15 stages will irritate the E2E passenger, but the fact is there is no E2E patronge equivalent to the frequency operated(except for weekends). The way to fix this E2E discomfort, introducing levels of service (Intercity volvos?) and splitting services will help. Even though Kalpakkam has a depot, it continues to operate only 2 singles as split trips.

Extend MTC to Kalpakkam / increase the frequency of 118(Kalpakkam-Chennai ECR) as per population needs. Kalpakkam still considers 118 ECR as secondary route. Thanks to Metro construction some additional 108 buses got into ECR/OMR (118/119) routes. But there is more demand now.(I know people who travel daily to TIDEL from Kalpakkam).

Make Kalpakkam depot run services from Mahabalipuram to Pondy. After introduction of MTC, many in Mahabalipuram don't use ECR Pondy buses.

Alternatively each of these stages can also fixed number of buses terminating them in mornings / evenings and the local population would be patronizing them (who would know the timings) well since they are assured of seat.

But I have faith in TNSTC oppicers who do nothing. TNSTC VPM operated a old dabba (TN21-N-300) as 117 to underserve Kovalam-Mahabalipuram. Similar old buses far few in number on Mahabalipuram-Kelambakkam as well. MTC came in 2007 and changed the game and these services are now well patronised by villages between them.

The best service is chennai trivandrum benz. They maintain timings very very friendly drivers and cleaners. They provide pillow in all their ac services and snacks in luxury services. even though they are fast i have always felt their driving safe in other words controlled agression.

TNSTC-CBE also get Some TML's. I saw around 5 to 6 TML's Parked in Sungam-1 Depot Without Registration. Routes Are CBE-Sathy, CBE-TPR Via Palladam.

Tamil Nadu state Govt allotted 15crore for modernization of Gumudupoondi Drivers training institution in International standards for that Govt taken steps to import foreign machines & training will be in foreign standards for that our license will accept by foreign countries .These training center have library facility,Hostel facility,Computerized training center etc.:)

From my experience yes they are definitely my favorite travels.
The best service is chennai trivandrum benz. They maintain timings very very friendly drivers and cleaners. They provide pillow in all their ac services and snacks in luxury services. even though they are fast i have always felt their driving safe in other words controlled agression.

I also agree this many of my relatives recommend me to use parveen Travels my father also told Parveen Travels good in service crews also behave in friendly manner.:)

^^Already announcement made for taking up of Routes >300km by SETC, then still why are these new buses wasted to these routes like CBE-TVL, dont the officials think of future and allot new buses to some to be existing routes.

Is the TN58 N05XX you had posted, a refurbished guy out of a erstwhile Madurai city bus?

ooty region was there as tnstc-cbe divn-3.. Later it was merged with its parentcbe region.. Now it is just a come back..Though it was merged with parent division, Ooty region buses were still registered in TN 43 contrary to Tiruppur, Cuddalore, Tiruvallur regions which are still continuing with parent division registration number though region is operational.

Why to touch karur depot of erode region? Is it because of new karur region.. I doubt about this.. Its operations are more towards tnstc-cbe areas.. So no prob in having it there..Karur region will have very few depots & hence Erode region will lose its Karur depot to Karur region, though its operation is more towards CBE region.

why don they use bio-diesel. as far as i know no modification required to make diesel engine to run in biodiesel. i guess maintance cost will also reduce and it is some what good for environment too.it might be good idea as it will stablize the ticlet price. any idea people?

all the buses having rock like seats and closely arranged rows. how they call it 3+2 while it is 2.5+1.5. will they accept if i take half ticket as i m sittng in half seat. travelling by sitting in these seats is defientely kumbi bagam than.
how these corporations are running on loss while private operators getting good profit. that too they rob by saying different service names.ex bypassrider. they charge rs 150 instead of 131 in ordinary.it is more than sleeper class in train.

pondy bangalore two buses are there. one is sreedharan roadways morning departure from pondy and bharathi motors night departure from pondy . These buses take the cuddalore,panruti,tirukoilur route. Also we have one sharma transport normal 3*2 bus in the villupuram- bangalore route. But all these buses start from market bus stop they dont go to satillite bus station

The seven-member team from Tamil Nadu state transport corporation that travelled along with the 45-member delegation, comprising transport officials from across the country, to Australia, has returned home enriched with loads of knowledge on public transportation after visiting three cities in Australia and is expected to submit a detailed report shortly.

The Australian government subsidises travel fares of commuters, after having entrusted public transportation to private operators, a senior delegate told DC.

“We shuttled between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane during the weeklong tour which would be very handy while implementing new schemes, with modifications, in our state,” opines the official.

Commuters in Sydney depend on buses and ferries, while Melbourne efficiently operates trams with good patronage.

“All buses, operated by private operators, collect only a reasonable fare and additional expenses are compensated by the government,” he explained.

Another delegate said, “The unique feature is that buses in all Australian cities are operated only on compressed natural gas which is environment-friendly and cost-effective.”

The delegates are awaiting a detailed report from association of state road transport undertakings, which organised the trip, after which they would incorporate their views and forward it to the state government.

Chennai - Puducherry that 2 operators are RTS & AVS rerouting thier original route (via Thirukkanur, Panayapuram, tindivanam) to via Kiliyanur, tindivanam.... Their name boards at CMBT is upto Tindivanam.... and at Puducherry they never enters into the Bus stand....

While bus clicking today, I had to go to OCPM school and hence boarded a 11B express bus (not a SLF). The driver had asked me about what I was doing using bus pics (He had already seen me clicking buses in roads here and there :lol:).

The bus which I used was TN58 N0675.

I made some explanation and he seemed to understand and became friendly. :) I got the below details from him.

I asked if the bus carrying us will go for a refurbishment. Only real good chassis and engines that are carefully selected are going for getting new body over them as we have TN58 N0593 and the others.

And he spoke about the transfer of more than 300 km routes by SETC. And he was firm that no transfer of buses will take place.

Bharathi has a different business model which helps them to operate huge number of buses in 4 states. There are 4 people in a bus ( Driver, 2 conductors and a cleaner) . Each bus crew has to pay a fixed amount to the bus owner. Rest of the collection is shared by the crew. So the crew works works hard to meet the collection target. The operating crew changes only once a week.
