^^too funny you don't understand the place you reached:bash: how come the provincial headquarter of NEP is another province:lol: salala
JARIBU August 11th, 2009, 05:48 AM I am not sure I understand your drift. At the time of writing my piece, I was not sure whether Garissa is in NEP or not, thus the sentiments in brackets. Your geography may be better than mine and that information may have been readily available to you than it was to me. Besides, admninistrative boundaries (Provinces, districts, locations, etc) have changed over the years. There was a time when Nairobi was not even a province.

martomarto September 1st, 2009, 02:09 PM BAsically I have traveled a lot through all the provinces of Kenya. Coast, Central you name it. I'ts funny how we live in our beautifu country and know very little about her. A lot of tourists jet into the country and end up touring the most magnificent attractions Kenya has to offer. Let us travel more and know our country.

:lol::lol: nunua mbuzi huko, i am away from NEP16 years, 5 years from Kenya, definitely a lot have changed since than, but you never they could a lot of business opportunities, you need to go and see for yourself:)
desert burner March 4th, 2010, 08:02 AM I also expect to visit Garissa soon, hope it is safe to take pictures. :)
^^Garissa you won't be having any problem, for sure mugging and those thing are non existent in NEP,remember they are a lot of non somalis doing all kind of business and civil servants and so on, so now the highway is okay from Nairobi to Garissa. just go to eastleigh and book one of the 16 different bus companies that are plying in the route, one day is enough for you go in the morning and come back in the evening:)
JARIBU March 9th, 2010, 03:59 AM This is indeed progress when someone can travel from Nairobi to Garissa and return on the same day by road. When I travelled there in the early eighties it took me two days to get there, mostly because of a mechanical breakdown. Even without it, the tarmack road ended a short distance from Thika. In those days travellers were required to travel from Mwingi to Garissa in a convoy with police (GSU) escort.

Kisumu Ndogo March 16th, 2010, 11:30 AM Seems like most people have not visited NE but I have heared from friends that Garrissa is such a town and its Cosmo-politan too. I believe with the implementation of Mombasa|Lamu - Ethiopia highway the place is going to be opened up. The Thika - Garissa Rd. is quite a busy one.

Most of that highway will pass through Eastern province a small section of N. Eastern Province so Im guessing that Upper Eastern will be the main beneficiary.
Im thinking of taking up DB's suggestion. Quite frankly, Im tired of driving up to Ole Polos past Kitengela or in the surrounding Maasai townships whenever a Nyama choma plot comes up.
