Aerin November 15th, 2009, 10:09 AM Konnichi wa!
In a couple of weeks I'll be travelling to Japan for the first time and will be going around the island of Honshu for a little over 2 weeks, visiting several cities such as Okayama, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, etc. I was hoping to pick up a little of the language (Hiragana; Kanji is too much) to help me get around and converse w/ the locals, but I don't think I have enough time for it now. Anyway, should I expect any difficulty getting around, not knowing Japanese? Should I bring heavy clothes (ie thick jackets and sweaters)? Any other practical advice/suggestions you can offer? Thanks very much!
