Impressive. Probably the only thing that does not please 100 % is the racket and the ball of tennis. Kazan has put a lot of illusion in this organization. Congratulations.

R. Minnikhanov: The Universiade 2013 village first residences will have tenants in 2010

The Universiade 2013 first facilities will be commissioned in 2010 and by the new academic year populated with students, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roustam Minnikhanov told the Tatarstan 6th Congress of Students’s plenary meeting.

“Our plans include completing before the new academic year the first section of the Universiade village, so that students from other towns can live there,” noted the head of government. “Many students will first be able to live in the Universiade village and after the Universiade 2013 finishes, in a campus.”

While speaking about the construction of the upcoming World Student Games 2013 sports venues, Roustam Minnikhanov said another 6 to 7 sports centres were before the year end to be launched, and another 12 to 13 sites by the May holidays next year. “We are going to complete the bigger part of the Universiade 2013 sports venues by the end of next year, except the 45-thousand soccer stadium and the Aquatics Palace,” the head of government shared. “We need to complete the entire Universiade complex in 2011.”

According to Roustam Minnikhanov, some sports facilities built for the Universiade 2013 will be presented to higher educational establishments in Kazan. The Tatarstan Prime Minister went on to pledge that the future schedule of the Universiade 2013 sports venues’s operation would include time for students, for training and holding competitions.

The Premier expressed confidence that the holding of the Universiade 2013, to assemble representatives from over 150 countries, would help make Kazan a recognisable global centre of education.

Public center will be built in the Universiade village this spring (http://www.kazan2013.com/en/news/109)

A committee in Kazan City hall considered the preliminary draft of the public centre of the future Universiade village.

The discussion was attended by Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan; Vladimir Fomin, the head of department of architecture and town-planning; Tatyana Prokofieva, the main architect; Stanislav Boshkovich, the representative of the company-developer of the project «AuS Architecture and Urban Systems» who is the partner and the assistant of the main architect of Barcelona José Asebilo; Farid Abdulganiev, the mayor of Kazan Universiade village; and Ranko Tepavchevich, the mayor of Universiade village in Belgrad.

The community center of the Universiade village will be used as an International center that will house the Accreditation center for sportsmen, the offices of coordinating services and the Universiade executive office. According to the plan the center will also include a concert hall that will seat 2 000 people, conference rooms, food service areas, a medical center and other services.

During the presentation the participants discussed technical conditions and parameters necessary for normal operation of the center.

During the discussion the Mayor of Kazan repeatedly emphasized: «Each square meter of this public centre should serve with maximum efficiency, as during carrying out of the World student's games, and also be useful to campus after the Universiade. We should define there the optimum area to place all necessary functional and other useful infrastructure».

In March this year the project of the public centre should pass final review, and then construction work in the Universiade village will begin.

^^ These 7 sport centres are not the main objects of the Universiade. They are small regional sport centres which will be attributed to universities.
