Heres the current status of the 9 projects over 90m/300ft high.
Most are in early stages with the current tallest topping out last month. Only turret and spire to be attached and it will be GC tallest until Q1 surpasses it later in year.
The Circle complex, Nexus towers and Meritons Shores are at excavation stage.
Also many more 90m+ towers to commence soon-
Axis, Chrystal towers,Insignia + Dolphin towers and others.

(Summary-GC latest tallest Chevron2 has topped out with just the spire to be added.the mighty Q1 has reached lev36 in core which is exactly1/3 height with 322m spire.Chevron3 and Pivotal point are progressing well along with broadbeachjs next tallest-Air.

like are these massive developments going to cause an oversupply, or was it all in good/fair demand?

nah never! thats the thing with the Gold Coast ,the new units always get purchased and more importantly leased.The current boom is nothing like the early 1980's.
There is currently approx 12 towers uc in central surfers. back in 1981-4 there was 40!
construction comes in cycles! this one was started in 2002 and will finish in 2007/8. then it will be a quite for a little while depebnding on property market. might be just a year but could be 5-6 years before next boom.already there has been 3 major towers sold!
Ultra in Broadbeach is most recent, Insignia Southport & another big one in sth port foget name.these might have to wait until next cycle

How slow is Air! Chevron 3 and Air started at about the same time and look at the difference now. Think they'd better get the whips out on that site!

Air is only a month behind schedule. I know it took a while at the begining having to do the podium and how it has sort of a 2 tower system with the back part sort of slotting in to the main tower so that would have made things slow at the start before it started to grow

yes, Air is now powering along.another 20 levels or so and its done! should look great when complete!

The biggest surprise of all, Air on BB is going up at the same rate as Q1! Who would have thought?

It should complement Q1 nicely. But in a way you're right about it not making much difference - another decade and Rialto will be surrounded by a bunch of apartment towers of similar height or greater.

Dont know how much development has been going on but are you going to update your Gold Coast diagram status Cul, its allready the 7th!! No rush though.

i was going to but decided to have a diagram for "Xmas shutdown" status instead. i did it last year. it stays like that until feb that way. so dec20 ill post the updates!

Circle is taking so long because of the massive projet going on at the base, Circle is a lot more then just a couple of towers, its got huge retail and commercial construction at the base. I drove past it only last saturday, and i fully understand why its taking so long, the thing is huge

come to think about it, Q1 looks so tall now, and soon circle will be at where Q1 is n ow,,,:eek:

Awesome! I don't mind the way goldie is atm, but there hast to be some place there that will remind me of a city. A true city IMO is dense.

Maybe perhaps more hi-rises spread out, or heaps of low storey density everywhere. I am seeing heaps of places building up with 6-8 storey buildings, and for up here i like that type of movement.

yeh ConC is going good though i wish it grew faster!! I get so impatient when seeing it grow.

C0nC has such a compicated floor plate (compared to Eureka or q1) so it will take a while to get going. Sydney's World tower took nearly 4 years from foundation to last brass door knob. but having said that, ConC has the same construction tecqnique as Brisbanes Aurora which is flying up a floor every 5 days!

Yeah, Sunland are pretty quick. But Raptis really takes the cake for speedy construction and hence I expect Artique to fly up.

In any case, this is going to be one huge year for the GC.

why is there no visible core rise in Circle on Cavill ?

yeh i was thinkin the same thing not too long ago but i think its cause they're focusing on the retail area down the bottom and the floorplate. Hopefully we will see the core rise alot quicker.

both towers have gone up a floor.It has a different construction method then the normal "central core with floor plates". The floor plate and core rise simulataneoulsy, like brisbanes Aurora tower>

^ um .i lowered the height inclusion from 90m/300ft to 80m. Solaire is 72m, so just misses out. refection is even shorter. i should include all projects over 12storeys but its really hard to depend on others for updates. i can do sydney but other cities are harder to keep track.

actually, the concrete projects in GC seem to go up quicker then anywhere else in oz. before you know it there up!
