There's a 10 Monorail or Metro lines' plan, but I never heard there's also a plan of Aerobus in Chongqing. publichorse May 19th, 2006, 11:53 AM Good morning, I was wrong. The place were Weihai not Chongqing. I enclose an article from Aerobus company: February 22, 2006 Aerobus International Announces Commencement of Major Transit Project in China Aerobus International, Inc., today announced the start of the Weihai Aerobus Transit Project which will be built in Weihai, China. According to Dennis K. Stallings, Aerobus president, “We have enjoyed enthusiastic support from Shang Dong Province officials, the mayor of Weihai, his staff, and many, many department heads.” “Project financing was secured on February 22, 2006, and the first payment from the Chinese partners was made on that date. Design work has been ongoing in China since July 2005. Chinese engineering teams have finalized all necessary environmental, marine, and soil studies for each of the eight pylons and the stations. Aerobus will consult with the Chinese technical groups then immediately begin design work in the United States for the guideway and vehicles,” Stallings said. Weihai is a vital Chinese port and tourist center on the Gulf of Chihli. The 4.2-kilometer (2.6-mile) Aerobus route will cross open ocean bay water to Liugong Island, linking that popular destination to the central business district. Weihai, with a population exceeding 2.4 million, is both a National Model City and a National Environmental City. Both classifications place stringent constraints on transportation systems. Aerobus technology utilizes self-powered vehicles running on a dedicated aluminum track which is suspended by a patented cable support system much like the Golden Gate Bridge. Pylons holding the track can be spaced up to ten times farther apart than supports for conventional monorails. Routes can be established at any height above grade so as to pass over buildings, freeways, and other obstructions without impeding traffic flow. Crossing Weihai Bay, the guideway will be raised sufficiently above sea level so as not to interfere with normal ship and port operations. “Aerobus is the only solution to the Weihai situation,” stated Stallings. Price of the Weihai Aerobus installation was not disclosed. Transit experts, however, estimate $10 million USD per kilometer, including stations and the Weihai Star pylon in the bay that will contain a station, restaurant, observation platform, and retail space tiger May 24th, 2006, 02:10 PM ChunShengBi'an(春生彼岸,U/C) http://www.skyscrapers.cn/forum/attachments/JiMyNjA4MDsmIw==_ggdgrmWWBHv4.jpg http://www.skyscrapers.cn/forum/attachments/showimgfsa_OV9sGZlpP9Kq.jpg http://www.skyscrapers.cn/forum/attachments/showimg234423_g9hQ1MIBDt1H.jpg tiger May 24th, 2006, 02:12 PM Yuelai Art Corridor(Proposed) http://www.skyscrapers.cn/forum/attachments/chongqingyulaidequdonhua3_piuSgnaIoXh5.jpg China_winson May 25th, 2006, 08:28 PM Yuelai Art Corridor(Proposed) http://www.skyscrapers.cn/forum/attachments/chongqingyulaidequdonhua3_piuSgnaIoXh5.jpg Looks cool.. "We are building the park for the good of the public," Lu said. "Sex is a taboo subject in China but people really need to have more access to information about it." "These things are too exposed" Liu Daiwei, a policewoman in Chongqing, said. "I will feel uncomfortable to look at them when other people are around." "Chinese people are in need of sex education," a netizen in Henan wrote. "I will visit the park when I go to Chongqing. It is important to learn more about sex and improve our quality of life." "We'll unswervingly stick to controlling the property market without changing the direction or loosening the policies," said Zhang Ping, head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner. He made the remarks in his report on the implementation of national economic and social development plan for the first seven months of this year to the National People's Congress Standing Committee, the country's top legislature. The government's macro-control policies have been relatively well implemented, Zhang said, adding that house prices in some cities had started to cool. In July, 31 cities out of the country's 70 major urban centers saw new home prices decline or remain unchanged from a month earlier, compared with 26 cities in June, according to official figures. Fourteen cities saw month-on-month declines in new home prices in July, up from 12 in June. Rocketing property prices have been a major government and buyer concern in China as purchasing an apartment has become an unrealistic dream for many ordinary citizens. The Chinese government has restricted residents in 43 major cities from buying second or third homes and is preparing to extend the restrictions to the country's second- and third-tier cities. It also has required higher down payments for mortgages and instituted new property taxes in the cities of Chongqing and Shanghai to rein in the runaway prices. Zhang urged authorities to curb speculative house buying and increase market supply. Measures must be taken to ensure enough funds and land supply for construction of affordable houses and to improve quality control on those projects, he said. Hot Rod August 27th, 2011, 11:45 PM China's latest municipality provides a hub that serves western regions (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2011-08/18/content_13138149.htm) One reason for its success in getting more investment is a five-day promotion event it sponsored this past February in Hong Kong An economic development zone in the mega-city of Chongqing is attracting greater attention from investors in China and abroad because of its position as an economic hub for the western parts of China and competitiveness in many sectors. The Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone opened in 1993 as a State-level development zone, just four years before Chongqing became the latest of China's four municipalities. The zone is becoming an important area for manufacturing, trade, services, transportation, and logistics, and has a pivotal role in promoting urban growth by providing a base for overseas and domestic investment. One reason for the zone's success, in getting more investment, is surely the five-day promotion event it sponsored this past February in Hong Kong. That lead to talks with more than a hundred business leaders there, accompanied by an exhibition to introduce investment projects and the Chongqing business environment. It also leads to about 15 billion yuan worth of cooperative agreements on 15 large projects in the automobile, warehousing, logistics, information technology, finance, and infrastructure sectors. According to the zone's administrative committee, more than 40 Fortune 500 companies - including Hutchinson Whampoa, Honda, Suzuki, Ford, Ericsson and Coca Cola - have plants or offices there, along with a large number of other multinationals and Chinese businesses. Why Chongqing zone? Well, for one thing, there is its advantageous location and convenient transport. Then there is the infrastructure and industrial base, all of which help. And Chongqing is a hub with connections to China's western and central parts. The zone's products can easily be moved down the Yangtze River to cities like Yichang, Wuhan and Shanghai and on to other parts of the country or the world. It also has a number of highways, expressways and railways, as well as Jiangbei Airport, only 15 minutes away. Inside the city, the zone is accessible through a number of roads and two subway lines. There are also bridges across the Yangtze to other parts of Chongqing, and a new one in the works. It also has adequate water, power, gas, telecommunications, and sewage treatment facilities. In two decades, the zone has developed an industrial system covering automobiles, motorcycles, electronic information, biomedicines, fine chemicals, new materials, food processing, and garments. Its emerging industries in recent years include shipbuilding, numerically controlled machine tools, the Internet-of-things, logistics, and new energy. Other attractions are the zone's amenities for living and services such as education, from kindergarten to university; health care, from community to top-level hospitals; shopping, entertainment, recreation, and sports. Expansion plans Expansion plan in recent years involve greater opportunities to investors, such as a new area in Chayuan, to the south of the Yangtze River. This 59-square-kilometer area is an example of the need for investment in both infrastructure and industrial development. Local authorities expect the economic and technological development zone to be an important force in the municipality's growth. The administrative committee has predicted that projects over the next four years will need 200 billion yuan in backing and will have an output worth 100 billion yuan by 2015. The goal is to turn the zone into a high-level industrial base for advanced manufacturing, modern services, logistics, and high-tech R&D. The committee has said they expect the zone to have more than 80 high-tech R&D companies by 2015, with annual revenues above 20 billion yuan. They have also estimated that they will have around 50 multinationals, including 20 Fortune 500 companies, by the same year. And protecting the environment and improving the standard of living are major concerns. Their plan calls for 60 percent of the zone to be covered by trees and grass, and a per capita green space of 22 square meters, by 2015. The local government is getting involved by trying to improve air quality in the hope that they can have more than 320 days a year meeting national healthy-level standards. In addition, it plans to improve public security, social welfare, and health care to make certain that its people live better, happier lives. The Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone now covers a 90-sq-km area. In 2010, it reported total revenues of 96 billion yuan, an increase of 23 percent over 2009. Its foreign trade volume was worth $2 billion the same year, a growth of 31 percent from the previous year. |
