Dude im with you on that. But again, I find a lot of buildings built in mumbai ugly or none too spectacular.

We need more creativity and inventiveness in the skyscrapers we're going to build if we really want to have a unique skyline.

There is nothing great about this tower, or about Hafeez's latest work in general. No skyline would be complete without filler, however.

Apart from the shape the colour combination is great it will added a much needed dash to the melancholy griminess of concrete jungle i.e our Mumbai.

Not that I want to bash Hafeez's atrocious design sense (or in most cases, his 'sign-off' sense) for no reason, but this tower is seriously PUKE INDUCING! If I had to barf at every unnecessary opening, every disproportionate piece of cladding, every out-of-place tacky bit of glazing and every badly positioned advertising board (he's clearly given in to his client's cheap but realistic demands), I'd need an endless supply of air-sickness bags. Sheesh, I wish I had a wrecking ball at my disposal!

myspacebardontwork

That is a hideous building. I've never been a fan of Hafeez Contractor. In addition, I think its sad that all developers/builders in Mumbai want to go with the steel and blue/green glass on the outside. They look horrible, especially for residential projects.

as opposed to garishly painted concrete commieblocks?

I think the building is rather good. It's fun to hate on HC, but it's obvious the guy is designing buildings to a budget. If everyone had unlimited petrodollars, there'd be steel and glass cladding on everything.

What this building COULD HAVE been is just your average 40 story resi building on a mall slash parking podium... i.e. like 300 other ones in the city. From the renderings there doesn't seem to be any more elements to this building in terms of material or cost than any other of the boring ass apartment blocks in the city. Instead, what sets this building apart is its design. What's tantamount to the same volume and materials found in other buildings is used in a unique, eye-catching, and I think rather pleasing way.

Kudos to him. It's a great building for what's probably an average budget.

Agreed totally. Some idiots needs to rethink their hatred on HC. I mean just look at garbage coming up in the name of RESIDENT ANTHILLA, PLANET GODREJ, LODHA BELLISIMO. all stupid cookie cutter soviet era boxes all the way up to 50th floor.

why hate on HC? Couldnt that retard AMBANI asked for sleek, aerodynamic design for RESIDENT ANTHILLA instead of this ugly retangular commie style building which is a pure eye sore. Hating on hafeez isn't gonna solve problem. Its how these owners cutting corners like lawn mowing. Thats the real issue. Just look at THE IMPERIAL TWINS.

Just look at the mess they made out of HC's The imperials, no dark alluminum cladding as the rendering warrented.

I actually quite like it. It wud be pretty cool if they had that light on the top, like that building in Prabhadevi. Is that a mall at the bottom? It could be a little shorter to make the building itself look taller.

Hindustani, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but if you knew anything about architecture, you'd know why I (don't know about the rest of 'em) don't like the building in question. No one's hating on Hafeez for no reason. He is super successful, and that's great, but if I were him, I'd put my power and name to good use in the city of Bombay. By good use, I mean, think about what I'm designing in the context of the city, neighbourhood, etc. I can go on about this for hours, really. His office works like a production line, churning out designs and drawings on a massive scale like no other office (trust me, I know). I don't have an issue with the money making enterprise that he runs, but surely, rational thought makes one wonder how he manages to maintain and control quality across the board.

It needs to be stated here for the record: Just because some of us happen to comment negatively on some of Hafeez's designs, it certainly does not automatically mean that we're in love with the other monstrosities you listed above. The tower looks like it will stand out among the mass of ugly concrete, but is that what we're looking for at the end of the day? A statement? Something that stands out (in this case, like a sore thumb)? It all depends what you look for in a building.

HC's Imperial was never planned with dark cladding (even if a couple renders show otherwise), and even it was, it would be HC who'd have approved the change in cladding colour...just so you know.

As for the "retard" Ambani's approval of Perkins and Will's design, he's new money, and that can't buy you taste, so there...
No one's against glass and steel here, only if used tastefully and in the right proportion, and you must understand that so-called "modern/ contemporary" architecture isn't all about glass and steel m8, there's so much more to it. SO MUCH MORE.

cheers

P.S: don't hate on us for voicing our opinions against cheapness :)

what people need to keep in mind is that for residential buildings a sleek glass covered building is totally non-desirable in terms of floor-space and energy requirements. you need windows and you need a rectangular floor-plate to maximise utility

nobody wants to live in an extremely flashy building. a tastefully done one yes. flashy no

wow.. those are very harsh words for people who dont like what you like. i cant see how Residence Anthila is a cookie cutter. its the most unique retard building of its kind.

Just because everything else looks ugly doesnt make HC any good. His designs are not world class. he should design buildings for video games. checkout SOm's website to see the real architects. HC is just mediocre.

^looks like some demolition work is underway

Deekshith, can you use your PS skills and place laburnum in that image you found? It'll be good to see how it stacks up with Le Palazzo. I can do a paint job but it won't be pretty.

Good job but it looks slightly elongated. Try comparing it to the building on its left in both the pictures.

^^ Its around 150m tall.

Way over 150m, Shreepati Arcade & Le Palazzo are 150 - 155m tall, Laburnum must be 180m or more.

Not bad. Certainly looks better than what people had imagined it would be turn out to look like.

Yeah looks promising!

It needs a crown thou and Shreepati Arcade needs maintenance on its facade.
