The Grand Palace | Bangkok, Thailand

The Grand Palace complex was established in 1782 and it houses not only the royal residences and throne halls, but also a number of government offices as well as the renowned Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

In November last year (2003), I had the privilege to go to Bangkok and to visit the Grand Palace. Here's some pictures I took of this imposing palace complex.......enjoy...... ;)

The Upper Terrace monuments - (from left to right)

- Phra Siratana Chedi (the golden chedi which its shaped based on Burmese Chedi

- Phra Mondop (a repository for Buddhist sacred scriptures which is based on traditional Thai architecture)

- The Royal Pantheon (based on Khmer architecture). ;)

Chakri Maha Prasat which consists of the Central Throne Hall and two wings was completed in 1882 by King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V).
