This one is going to be the tallest residential building right?
Anyway, i like it because of its height, and some shapes that it has.

So far the best Australian scraper I've seen: a sturdy tower with its own identity.
The design is coherent and the tower has an impressive amount of floors below streetlevel.

I like the slender height and the glass portion. The bottom however is too fussy and those patterns dont seem to aid this building aesthetically.

In regard to World Tower, although some think it's a jumble, I like all the different shaping. Makes it all the more interesting. Having said that, suddenly the acres of metallic planes behind the beacon seem too sparse.
It is tall and slender and the beacon is lit beautifully lit at night.
Call me biased, but I have watched this one grow over the last couple of years and feel that I've 'paid my dues'.
9 (would have been 8 a year ago, just based on the render).

This is the finest residential tower ever built in Sydney. It's an outstanding design for a residential tower and the beacon helps give it an iconic look. I love the different styles of the facade, which mould together to make look impressive

Also I thought I would to like to add a few pics of mine for forumers to look at when deciding their rating.

no it's the opposite,
I said I gave 6 just because of its height if it was shorter, than I'd have gave a smaller note.

7.5/10 - It's really tall and slim but is too complicated, and has too many unnecessary elements.
Liz L
April 14th, 2004, 11:47 PM
7/10 - It's slim enough to have good, soaring height (especially seen narrow-side on), and I really like the way the setbacks fall away at the top, like the GE buiding at Rockefeller Center - it's so much more lively and interesting than a plain flat roof. The night lighting is also a good touch.
BUT - The facade has so many different elements that it veers off into chaos - it needs to be more organized, especially since none of the sections are really striking on their own. This is in spite of some touches like the good contrast between white trim and dark windows and the glassy, triangular "fans" running up the sides...

8 for this one. i like the building's overall shape, but the "black wings" look rather dull and the top glass portion should be gray instead of green.
the building looks better on the narrow side than on the wide side

sorry, didn't mean to be "harsh"...it's alot better than Kent House in the forground.
and I'm not anti Sydney for the record...Melbourne has sadly more than it's share of ugly buildings.
the combinations of edges and angles and general "messy look" can be found in any city... it just has no "wow" factor , but thats just an opinion.

10/10!! my fav skyscraper in Australia! atm its the worlds 13th tallest residential building! If it was built when it was planned in 2000, it would of been the worlds tallest!!
anyway, it s a great structure! perfect for the southern end of Sydney.

9/10 which means i like it and its interesting elements, with staged top a whole lot. definitely one of the most handsome buildings in oz.
reserving top votes for ultimates in design, height, setting and overall skyline impact, and this misses just a little on the latter two, but any city would be delighted to have it: spare us all from flat chests and flat tops :okay:

That side with the balconies is really wicked. I don't like it.
I also don't like the white rectangular frame on the other side.
Otherwise, the top is nice, and the blue light quite cool. I'm a bit worried about how this glassy top will look when people move in and start putting blinds here and there.

I watched World Tower grow from a 10storey deep hole to last concrete pour and panel attachment over 2000-2004. Its one of the finest apartment towers in the world. When it was designed in 2000 it was planned to be worlds tallest but beacuse it took a while with DA ect, it was worlds 16th tallest on completion.
On completion in 2004, it became tallest resi in Australia and 2nd tallest to roof at 230m.

I agree it looks like a bomb went off inside the upper levels. A good reason for reflective glass in resi scrapers. It is now my most hated tall building in Sydney. To me it's a hotch-potch with far too much going on and far too many colours. That and I also don't like the lopsided nature of so many towers in sydney, I'd like to see a few go up with some symmetry for a change.

I'm not too particulary fond of this building. It has good height, and it looks modern, but I have a bad feeling this one will age rapidly. The facades are a mis-match of styles and there's balconies, wings, and little insets everywhere. It almost looks as though they hired a team of designers who refused to talk to each other to design different portions of the building. There's nothing flowing about it. Overall, a "6"

I have to wonder how messy the architect's bedroom might be.
