So in 10 days time Kenyans will be counted. Census officials will be going door to door and asking for details of your family members.CIA world Factbook estimates Kenya's Population to be about 34 Million.

So,my guess is that Kenya's population will turn out to be around 38 Million. And Nairobi's population should be about 4 million.

What do you guys think?

By the way what happens to the Kenyans who are abroad, will they be counted too?

Kenyans abroad to be counted in August 24 census

Kenyans living abroad will be included in the forthcoming census.

Their families will be asked to reveal details about how much money they remit and how it is invested.

However, only details of those who left the country in the last 14 years will be taken.

This will be the first time that Kenyans abroad will be counted in the national population and housing census, which will start on the night of August 24.

“This time we want to know all the details,” said Mr Collins Opiyo, the population and social statistics director at the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.

The government, he added, will also seek to establish the number of people who have died in every household and the cause of their deaths.

The intention, he explained, is to establish the number of those who have died due to socio-economic problems.
They will also establish the number of the unemployed.

Mr Opiyo said that the enumerators will ask more than 30 questions and will be required to spend at least 30 minutes in each household.

The census will also establish the livestock numbers in the country.

Mr Opiyo was briefing members of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (Kepsa) at Nairobi’s Intercontinental Hotel on Wednesday.

The government will also be seeking to know if members of a household own a car, a truck or lorry, a motorcycle, a canoe or a computer.

Households will also be asked to disclose whether they own gadgets like refrigerators, television sets, radios or even mobile and/or house phones.People will be counted where they will be on that particular night.

Protestant churches have announced their support for the census and have written to their faithful to prepare for the counting.

The National Council of Churches of Kenya, the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, and the Presbyterian Church of East Africa have advised their faithful to help disseminate information on the census.

The churches also appeared to support the question on tribe, which has sparked debate. A letter to PCEA faithful says the Israelites in the Bible were “counted according to tribes and families”.

I say 40 million for the total population and 6 million for Nairobi residents since rural-urban migration is on the increase. If you take a good look, half of the urban population live in informal settlements and this is attributed to people coming to Nairobi to look for white collar jobs.
