Skadar(Serbian)/Shkodër(Albanian) Lake in Montenegro & Albania (Largest Lake of Balkan / South-Eastern Europe)

Its surface, 6 m (20 ft) above sea level, can vary between 370 km2 (142.9 sq mi) and 530 km2 (204.6 sq mi), of which 2/3 is in Montenegro. The lake is a cryptodepression, filled by the Morača River and drained into the Adriatic by the 41 km (25 mi) long Bojana River, which forms the international border on the lower half of its length.

The Montenegrin part of the lake and its surrounding area were declared a national park in 1983. It is one of the largest bird reserves in Europe.

Two Argentine lakes...

Nahuel Huapi Lake, Rio Negro, Argentina

557 km²

Shore length 222 mi (357 km)

depth 1,439 ft (439 m)

A curious fact about the lake is that, despite being nowhere near any ocean and being at high altitude, it is also home for Kelp Gull and the Blue Eyed Cormorant (Phalacrocorax atriceps), otherwise strictly marine birds.

This breathtaking lake harbors several species of trout including rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout which attract anglers from the world over.

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3417/nahuel.jpg

Fagnano Lake, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

length 98 km
Surface area 645 km²
depth 200 m

From its western end drains towards the Almirantazgo Fjord. On its eastern end is the town of Tolhuin.

This lake (Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornindalsvatnet)) is the deepest lake in Europe (not including all of Russia, where they have Lake Bajkal, but it is in Asia I believe),
with official depth of 514 m and unofficial measurement by Telenor (largest Norwegian telecom corporation) of 612 m.
