View Full Version : SYD - Parramatta to get a another new TALLEST!! over 100m>>
CULWULLA March 11th, 2004, 01:54 AM big news contacted the Parramatta city council about the latest scraper planned for Parra. Sincity alerted me to it recently so i got height info.
It will consist of a tower block above a podium rising to an impressive 106.6m!!
this will eclipse the 84m Escen which is starting soon.
She even told me it will be Parra's new tallest and have 31 storeys.
Its roof will be 97m and then a plantroom/angled roof which consists of a metal grilled slopping blade (hard to explain-will post drawing soon) will reach a further 8m totalling 105m.
Its RL is a 116.4m above sea level! (Escen will be 100mRL).
It will consist of 115 units all serviced! (Escen has approx 90).
It goes to council soon for accessment and up for approval within 6 months. She thinks it will go ok, there is no overshadowing issues ect, and the area is zoned for highrise as its not far from the massive Civic Place whcih will have even taller towers!!
Ive got the George Street (North elevation) in front of me and looks excellent. Its basically a square tower with 3 rows of balconies on each face with full height metal clad blades dissecting each row of balcs.(floor plate would look like a cross)
It rises above a 12m/3 storey tall full site podium!
architect is Scott Carver. he has designed many great bldgs in Sydney! he designed projects like- Rialto Apartments(then known as Lobana House)http://www.scottcarver.com.au/projects/projectImages/57_2nd.jpg
also ,Bridgeport,Interchange-Bondi,
Watermark-Pyrmont http://www.scottcarver.com.au/projects/projectImages/55_hero.jpg

:D
SydneyDude March 11th, 2004, 05:57 AM wow cool! Looks like Parra will give Chatswood a run for its money in a few years!
AltiusAltiusAltius March 11th, 2004, 11:45 AM This is so bloody amazing!
Can't wait to see some renderings but I guess this project will not start before 2005...
One thing is for sure - this is an ideal location for the new tower...and of course the first Parra building ever to break the 100 m mark! ;)
Go Parra! :guns1:

heres the George street elevation. I chatted to head architect later on today and he said the tower is basically a cruciform shape with full height sliver blades and angled roof top.
he said the devlopers are tenacious and want to commence this year. It wont be awaiting sales from units as its a all serviced apartments! So this will be a fast mover!

AND only the second 100m+ tower in Australia to be built away from a main CBD (After Forum St Leonards)
SinCity March 12th, 2004, 03:29 AM Thanks Cul !!!!!!!!1
You got those facts super fast!
Wow, I didn't contemplate that the height would break the 100m mark. I thought it would hit troubles due to location, but you have confirmed otherwise.
This development will be impressive as it is very "City Centre". It will create a great skyline with tallies in the middle and then a tappering down of the skyline as it hits the outer boundaries of the CBD.
I'll keep an eye on it in the local papers to see what else happens. Definately a landmark tower for Parramatta. :D
Great work Cul! :)
AltiusAltiusAltius March 12th, 2004, 11:57 AM Thanks Richard!
Looks like a superb design - much better than Escen! :)
And 2004 start sounds fabulous - in that case this baby will be finished at approximately the same time as Escen...maybe even sooner! (Escen sales office rep mentioned 2006 as anticipated completion time...)

Anywho, thanks for the elevation post CULWULLA. :)
ParraMan March 12th, 2004, 08:55 PM Yep definitely fantastic news this one, again I'm feeling homesick so I could scan the local papers for info and then watch this baby grow. It's also (hopefully) the end of the saga of this site, which has been earmarked by numerous property developers for redevelopment into high-rise office or apartments over the last ten or fifteen years. Good luck Sterling Properties (you will now be known as Sterlo the 2nd).
Cheers

Third.
RDT - St. Kilda Rd. :D
But then again, you could count North Sydney.

And probably also Darlinghurst - Horizon and The Elan.
I expect that when the spire of the taller Citadel Tower in Chatswood is added to its height, we'll find that it was actually the first 100m+ tower to be built outside of central CBD's.

Nah I reckon St Kilda Road is counted as part of the main city in the same way that Nth Sydney and East Sydney is counted as part of the main city here in Sydney.
These areas are so close to the proper CBD and basically are an extension of the CBD skyline, well thats the way I see it anyway.
Satellite cities such as St Leonards, Chatswood and Parra are many kilometers away from the main CBD. :)
CULWULLA March 24th, 2004, 12:59 PM The Sydney CBD skyscraper count doesnt include East Sydney or Redfern or North Sydney, but i reckon it should.
skyscrapers-
Sydney CBD -651 completed-20 uc (total-671)
North Sydney-91 completed-2 uc (total-93)
Redfern-39- 3 uc (total-42)
East Sydney-63-1 uc (64)
total-844-26 uc = TOTAL 870
Melbourne CBD-248-22 uc (total-270)
Docklands-8-7 uc (15)
Southbank-26-5uc (total-31)
St Kilda-57-3 uc (total-60)
outer suburbs-30
total-369- 37 uc = TOTAL 406
jellyman April 4th, 2004, 03:35 AM Third.

what about Gold Coast? I would argue that Gold Coast does not have a main CBD at all.
CULWULLA May 18th, 2004, 02:36 PM just reposting the elevation of the tower

Fabian May 18th, 2004, 10:32 PM Fablous design. It's pleasing to see that Parramatta is getting scrapers like this one and they deserve it as well. For too long they have allowed @$#% to be built. I look forward to this beefing up the skyline even more.
Italo-Australian May 19th, 2004, 05:10 AM holy crap!!!
This is amazing!!!! Let's hope no stupid councillor objects.
Trances May 19th, 2004, 09:19 AM First 100m Australia to be built away from a main CBD !
Parra is becoming Main CBD well a minor one but its still a city. :)
Yep always great news with this tower. Cant belive its going to take so long
Do we have a detailed list of each project prosposed and UC in Parra Cul ?
finn May 19th, 2004, 09:29 AM First 100m Australia to be built away from a main CBD !
Well, kind of - Forum Tower 1 in St.Leonards is 118m, and Citadel Tower in Chatswood is 110m, and they are a fair distance from Sydney CBD.
Trances May 19th, 2004, 09:48 AM No what I ment what that some of these metro Cites are almost cites in own right

ParraMan January 21st, 2005, 05:54 AM Tower has been approved!!!
From Parra Council:
"To demolish existing structures and to construct a serviced apartment building containing 152 dual key apartments with retail shops and commercial offices and a basement carpark for 286 vehicles."
