Y-3 is opening soon at Plaza Indonesia, the location is next to Bagteria ( replacing the luxury branded sale )

Wow! Finally, Y-3..! Yeah, that's a good news! Thanks Grady for ur info.. :banana::banana:

Ya, kemarin Saint Louis Lounge (yg sebelumnya mau Versace Lounge) sudah soft opening, dan cukup bagus design interior nya. Butik Bally ke-3 di PI juga sudah buka nih & facadenya juga terlihat sangat bagus, dan juga Superdry Store sdh buka, facadenya sama dgn facade Superdry Store di UK, menyusul Christofle & Mondial yang akan buka dlm waktu dekat. Makin mantap aja nih PI, karena dengar2 kalo Chopard bakal membuka kembali butik nya di Indonesia, di PI juga tepatnya. :cheers:

Burberry Flagship di Senayan City juga akan segera buka, sudah hampir selesai fitting out nya, dari segi facadenya akan terlihat mantap karena mengambil 2 lantai sbg facadenya, jd "terlihat" seperti duplex store, hehehe... :cheers:

Omega 3rd boutique juga akan buka di PS. Cartier & Time Place juga akan segera buka di Pacific Place krn jg sdh masuk dlm tahap finishing, dan sepertinya juga ada 1 butik yg akan buka di samping Hermes, yg sedang dlm tahap fitting out & hampir selesai juga dlm waktu dekat, just wondering what is it..

Untuk UNIQLO, denger2 sih gak jadi masuk Central Park. Tapi Bershka & Stradivarius tetap masuk ke Central Park. well, we'll see lah, hope they will stay.

Omega PS di sebrang Diane von Furstenberg & Sebastian's (dulunya Peter F. Saerang). Yang di samping Hermes gak tau akan segera buka apa, soalnya tidak ada advertisment nya, bukan Etro lah, Etro masih buka kok. Lokasinya disamping Hermes persis, kalo Etro dideretan Hermes, tetapi bukan di samping Hermes persis.

apa h&m tau prada jadi buka atau tidak? dulu senang sekali melihat mereka mengambil semua tempat di lingkaran yang besar itu.

Y-3 is a brand which is made by a collaboration between Adidas & Yohji Yamamoto ( a well known japanese designer who has worked with brands such as : Hermes, and Mikimoto ).

Versace Lounge is a lounge which is operated by Versace itself, It is the same with Gucci Cafe by Gucci Group or Gold by Dolce and Gabbana. But Versace Lounge has pulled out from Plaza Indonesia. Versace Lounge has been replaced by Saint Louis Lounge. For Saint Louis Lounge, I think Saint Louis has a collaboration with Indonesian Retailer. This is the same with Alfie by Alfred Dunhill ( Dunhill has collaboration with KEE )

Burberry Senayan city in my opinion will become the flagship of Burberry in Jakarta. Therefor, it will carry Burberry Prorsum and Burberry Kids. Just hope this one is design by Christopher Bailey himself.

For Central Park, Just hope Uniqlo will stay. Well, we need to pray a lot for this one. BTW, Both Berskha and Stradivarius haven't put their Banner or just say, u can't see the sign of them in Central Park.

Anyone knows about what a different between Mango and Mango Fall ?, because In Plaza Indonesia directory, I see Mango on the first floor and Mango Fall on the second floor. And DKNY jeans will also open next to Toywatch

dkny jeans opening soon?
sejak kapan mango buka butiknya di lantai 2? memang dulu seingat saya mango ingin pindah ke lantai 2 diatas lv dengan armani exchange. tapi belom pindah juga sampai sekarang?
kalau mereka jadi pindah, 2 space kosong tersebut akan di isi oleh siapa ya?
berharap missoni dan ralph lauren.

kemarin lihat di web pi, jimmy choo pindah ke space kosong di depan lv?
Jimmy Choo tetep kok di samping Yves Saint Laurent, yang di web cuma salah tempat, 2 space kosong di depan LV akan ditempati oleh Prada & Christian Dior (lokasi Dior yg skrg buat art gallery sementara).

Dan sepertinya Emporio Armani di PI setelah further reduction ini akan tutup, krn udh gak ada new stock & dulu emang rumornya kan Emporio Armani di PI akan tutup. Emporio Armani akan digantikan oleh Salvatore Ferragamo (masih sama2 dr MAP group juga). Jadi, kalo Emporio Armani di PI tutup, dipastikan juga Giorgio Armani di GI juga bakal tutup, krn kasusnya sama, lg further reduction & stok nya sdh hampir habis & gak ada stok baru yg datang (item nya masih sama dgn item tahun 2009 lalu), hmmm, kalo Giorgio Armani di GI tutup juga, bakal diganti oleh apa ya, gede bgt tuh space nya..

Iya, DKNY Jeans akan buka di samping Toywatch. Mungkin karena Armani Exchange gak jadi pindah di level 2, jd nya diganti oleh DKNY Jeans, kan Armani Exchange & DKNY Jeans masih dr retailer yg sama, club 21.

Trus, kalo beda Mango Fall ama Mango apa ya? setau gw sih gak ada Mango Fall ya, gak tau lagi ya.. atau mungkin cuma kesalahan di directory aja kali, kan beberapa kali terjadi kesalahan info dr directory, soalnya masa sih ada 2 butik Mango yg sama gedenya tapi cuma beda lantai? agak gak yakin sih kalo akan ada 2 Mango di PI, hmmm, we'll see lah.. :)

Naninni Grill & Daily Bread Cafe juga mau buka tuh di PI.. makin ketinggalan aja nih yg lain ama PI, hehehe... :)

Iya sih, tdk ada hi-end tenant, tp tenant2 nya oke banget kok, apalagi ada HE by Mango, bisa jadi outlet HE by Mango pertama kali di Asia Tenggara, krn He by Mango blm ada di semua negara Asia Tenggara & di level Asia pun masih susah ditemukan, juga kembalinya Warehouse dan adanya Cache Cache paris & Spanx, bisa menggaet market baru, krn brand2 tersebut tidak ada di shopping mall lain. Konsentrasi tenant GC lebih ke High End Fashion, yang belum tersedia di wilayah pondok indah & gandaria, jd strategi yang bagus sehingga tidak terjadi replika tenant2 yang sudah ada di Pondok Indah Mall 1 & 2. Apalagi ditambah menggaet Brand yang bersifat masal, seperti Forever 21, sehingga di mungkinkan mengundang traffic yang banyak. Kalo Uniqlo jadi buka di Gandaria City nggak ya?

Y-3 sebelumnya adalah luxury branded sale store dari Roberto Cavalli, Just Cavalli, dll. Tetapi sebelumnya merupakan toko Bruno Magli. Hal ini terjadi mungkin karena Bruno Magli tutup sebelum sewa berakhir sehingga digunakan untuk temporary store dari barang2 gabungan yang dibawa oleh retailer.

Yes, Bagteria has closed its store at PI, but Bagteria can still be found at Seibu GI

1.hugo boss is under renovation.. akan jd hugo boss new concept

2.space kosong yg ex energie/miss sixty kyknya sbntar lg ada tenant yg ngisi..krn udah ditutup2 kertas gt tp blom tau apa

3.space kosong yg ex old levi's store akan diisi oleh charles n keith

4.sogo jg lg banyak direnovation tuh, terutama di floor men's department sm kinokuniya..(floor lain kyknya renovationnya udah selesai) apa mau ada penambahan new brand? apa cuma sekedar memperbagus atmosphere aja??

The hoarding at Burberry's Senayan City (stumbled upon it while perusing the web)....I think it's part of the charm of having a new luxury tenant...wish there were more pictures to record the development. :(

These photos are so rare and hard to find but I found a couple more pics of Burberry Flagship facade at Senayan City...This is the dawn of street facing facades in Jakarta!
It looks so huge! If any SSCers happen to visit the mall, more pictures would be muchh loved, especially if the whole entire store can be shot, to show how massive it really is...It's supposed to be the second largest Burberry store in Asia Pacific after the one in Ginza and the first in the world with nine metres facade! :)

Btw, about the burberry store : I think the one in Senayan city is not the biggest in Asia, not even Southeast Asia. Burberry at Ginza : 1300 square metres, Marunouchi : 1020 square metres, Ion : 815 square metres, Omotesando : 550 metres, Beijing Jinbao : 461 square metres, Senayan city : 417 square metres. But I believe Burberry Senayan city is still in top ten Burberry largest store in Asia ( exclude : Middle east )

Consumer spending is at an all time high and there is no sign of this trend slowing down any time soon. That includes high purchasing power for luxury goods as well. No wonder new crème de la crème brands are popping up everywhere with larger, more opulent and more ostentatious flagships than before.
The always crowded malls in Jakarta, even the super exclusive upper echelon ones.

Hmmm... Burberry Senayan City kalo dibandingkan dengan Burberry Ion Orchard, Ion lebih besar, sedikit.. Mungkin Burberry Senayan City terbesar ke 3 di SEA setelah Burberry Ion & Burberry Duplex Pavilion KL.. :)

@disdis : I'm pretty sure Burberry Senayan city is the second biggest in South east Asia. I'm not sure about the size of Burberry at Pavilion KL since I haven't got the exact area and haven't been inside the store. But the retail area of Hermes duplex at Pavilion is 251 metres, therefor I think burberry is also around that size.

About how i get all of those datas : I just typed all of those burberry stores that I have visited, and with a little luck sometimes I got the exact areas of those stores.

@mkors: What is going to open ? Balenciaga ? Herve Leger ? Tory Burch ?

@H&M and Grady, it's going to be so major....as you know GI wants to have the best selections of premium luxury brands just like PI, so if GI can get the likes of Harvey Nichols, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, etc in its mall, the sky is the limit on what type of luxury brands it could get.

@disdis : I'm pretty sure Burberry Senayan city is the second biggest in South east Asia. I'm not sure about the size of Burberry at Pavilion KL since I haven't got the exact area and haven't been inside the store. But the retail area of Hermes duplex at Pavilion is 251 metres, therefor I think burberry is also around that size.

About how i get all of those datas : I just typed all of those burberry stores that I have visited, and with a little luck sometimes I got the exact areas of those stores.

ya i believe burberry in pavilion KL are smaller than burberry senayan city... though they has a duplex store

not all duplex store are huge, correct??

@H&M and Grady, it's going to be so major....as you know GI wants to have the best selections of premium luxury brands just like PI, so if GI can get the likes of Harvey Nichols, Chanel, etc in its mall, the sky is the limit on what type of luxury brands it could get.
just hoping this rumour will come true :cheers:

Hahaha iya yah MAP huebat bener dah udah dapetin dua super premium dept store.
Jakarta makin world class banget deh...udah ada Buddha Bar, yg asal Paris juga and Jakarta is one of the only two cities in Asia (the other one is in Shanghai)...terus tambah Harvey Nicks, Galeries Lafayette, and potentially Harrods....Tinggal MRT-nya dibuat tahun depan and we'll be beyond amazing!

kalo liat di hi-end shopping mall yg ada skrg sepertinya sdh penuh, yg paling memungkinkan buat Galleries Lafayette di Ciputra World Jakarta, kan baru 2012 operasional mall nya, jadi sepertinya pas banget kalo Galleries Lafayette masuk pasar Indo 2012, kan pas juga lokasinya, di satrio shopping belt, pas juga dengan positioning Ciputra World yg hi-end, mengingat sdh ada Raffles, Fraser juga :D

CWJ would be perfect for GL!
Terus dengan ada-nya GL kan nanti CWJ bisa menggaet brand2 ternama, seperti GI dengan adanya Harvey Nicks, jadi bisa menggaet Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana, etc...
Let's hope CWJ is playing its cards correctly...:D

Although I'd rather see GL in Plaza Indo though, jadi-nya kan seberang2an sama Harvey Nicks.....satu jalan itu jadi keliatan "wah" dengan street-facing facade-nya dari LV, HN terus tambah GL....
But I guess it's better for GL to be in CWJ or other Sudirman areas so that the level of ostentatiousness and ritz should be spread out to more farther districts than just the Thamrin/Bundaran HI area...
But then there is the prospects of Harrods coming in....yang membuat Jakarta's shopping scene lebih semarak..oh the possibility is endless!

International companies are betting Indonesia will become Asia's next big consumer market after China and India. With 240 million people, the world's fourth largest population behind China, India and the US, Indonesia has long promised to be one of the world's biggest consumer markets. But it has lagged behind other developing nations because of political instability and disappointing growth after the Asian financial crisis of 1997-98.
That has started to change in the past several years, as Indonesia stabilizes, with a democratically elected government and surging sales of commodities such as coal, natural gas and palm oil to China.
Last year, Indonesia posted the second highest personal spending growth in Asia, behind China but ahead of India. Private consumption climbed 5.1 percent compared with 0.4 percent growth in Asia excluding China.
Indonesia's resurgence as a consumer market is the latest evidence that developing Asia, which for years relied primarily on exports for growth, is becoming more self-reliant as it develops a bigger middle class and its own domestic demand.

Salvatore Ferragamo Italia SpA, parent company of Ferragamo Group, the luxury brand best known for its shoes and leather goods, recently added 2 shops in Singapore, its first new openings in the city in six years, Norsa said, and may open 2 in Jakarta later this year. The company may also look to openings in Taiwan if China goes ahead with a plan to allow individual tourists to visit the island, he said.

Norsa has run the privately held, Florence-based company since 2006. The shoemaker is owned by the widow of founder Salvatore Ferragamo and other family members.

Thanks for the update H&M. In my opinion, Pemerintah Indonesia seharusnya mulai mempertimbangkan bisnis retail di Indonesia sebagai salah satu mesin pemacu pertumbuhan. Misalnya dengan mengurangi pajak luxury goods yang udah kaya ngerampok itu.

agree... selain mengurangi pajak luxury goods yang mencekik, pemerintah mesti mempermudah adanya GST bagi turis2, sehingga dengan begitu, Indonesia akan mampu bersaing dengan singapore di SEA sbg shopping destination, untuk menggaet para shopaholic. Headline jakarta great sale kemarin yaitu, "jakarta surganya belanja" jangan hanya menjadi slogan semata, tetapi juga seharusnya diikuti dengan adanya insentif berupa voucher2 bagi turis2 domestik / mancanegara di airport Soetta, dan mesti bikin booth atau stand macam Jakarta Visitors Guide / Jakarta Tourism Board, sosialisasi GST, etc sehingga memungkinkan menjadi event tahunan yang ditunggu2 tidak hanya orang Indonesia, tetapi jg regional Asia Tenggara.. :cheers:

belum pernah ada berita sebelum2nya bahkan sampai sekarang mengenai lokasi tepat di mana Galleries Lafayette akan buka, yang pasti di hi-end shopping mall, dan daerah yang lokasinya strategis, seperti Harvey Nichols buka di Grand Indonesia (hi-end shopping mall & lokasi sangat strategis).

Indonesian shoppers to lift sales 15% this year

Indonesians are expected to spend 15 percent more this year, according to a Nielsen Indonesia survey released on Wednesday.

The Shopper Trends Survey forecast that the public will spend Rp 115 trillion ($12.65 billion) this year.

Spending in the first five months of the year was Rp 44 trillion, up 9 percent over the year-earlier period. Spending in 2009 rose 4.7 percent to Rp 99.65 trillion.

Nielsen Indonesia director of retail services Yongky Susilo said spending would soar 15 percent even after factoring in inflation and rising power rates.

Yongky said he was optimistic Indonesia could achieve 6 percent economic growth this year on the back of the increased spending.

Last month, Nielsen released a survey showing that Indonesian consumers were the second-most confident in the world, with 46 percent saying now is a good time to buy the things they want.

The survey also shows retailers are upbeat, with 59 percent expecting revenue to grow 12-30 percent this year.

Marks & Spencer to open 12th store in Pondok Indah Mall II

JAKARTA (Bisnis.com): MAP Tbk, a retail licensee of Marks & Spencer (MS) will be operating its 12th outlet in Pondok Indah Mall II, and until the end of this year, it will operate 13 branches in Indonesia.

"This retail business continues to grow exponentially, that this year alone, its return has posted double-digit growth," said General Manager Corporate Strategy and Marks & Spencer, this afternoon, during the official opening of branches to 12.

This year, said Irawati, it is planning to open two branches in Jakarta, which is more optimistic than last year which opened only one outlet. While for the next year, the institute also has plans to open even more several branches.

Especially now, he said, MS is a British design known as a conservative has now changed, such that it displays sweet and colored clothes that have followed trends as well as keeping up with great quality. "Cutting and fashion colors have changed," he said.

Sumpah ni salah satu thread fav gw di ssc, liat foto2 nya aja udah seneng wakakakak, gw suka gerainya Manolo Blahnik kemarin sempat masuk ke sana nganter sepupu gw they use rotan atau bambu untuk interiornya terlihat apik sekali yg belakang2 malah masih bau peliturnya hehe masih baru kali yah.
Oh ya baru tahu kalo di Dubai Mall ada 2 highend ds sekaligus yak Bloomingdales dan Galleries Lafayette kapan ya mereka buka di Indonesia hehehe.

In many ways, Singapore followed a pattern to development not unlike Dubai over the past couple of decades and is now positioned as a more mature luxury and retail hub for the South East Asian region. Singapore continues to extend its offer for even larger flagship formats, counting two new luxury malls opening this year (Ion Orchard and Mandarin Gallery) and another next year (Knightsbridge). “Thailand has been embroiled in political and economic problems for the last three years thus affecting sales,” says La Perla’s managing director for Asia-Pacific, Andrea Bonardi , who also noted that future prospects hinge on whether it can pull out of the current crisis. “For us, the Thai market is very dependent on tourists since the locals represent only 40% of our customer base.”

“The concrete signs in south east Asia are in Vietnam, where customers show a strong hunger for new luxury brands. Other markets in the region have been exposed to luxury and have been open economies for much longer and are already set in terms of luxury growth perspectives,” he added.

Vietnam ranked as the world’s sixth most attractive retail market according to this year’s AT Kearney Retail Development Index right after three BRIC countries and two Gulf states. Across the luxury goods spectrum, brands are scurrying to put down roots in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi as the country blossoms into a free market and young entrepreneurs get rich quickly.

Department store mewah Perancis Galeries Lafayette rencana untuk membuka di China dan Indonesia sebagai bagian dari strategi ekspansi internasional. Perusahaan ini membuka cabang di Beijing, Singapura, Seoul dan Tokyo pada tahun 90-an, namun kemudian ditutup karena tidak dapat keuntungan. Kali ini, pendekatan ini akan lebih berhati-hati dengan pembentukan kemitraan dengan kelompok I.T, Hong Kong, sedangkan di Indonesia, pihaknya telah menandatangani perjanjian lisensi dengan departemen jaringan toko Mitra Adiperkasa. Di Indonesia, rencananya adalah untuk membuka unit 10 mil meter persegi di Jakarta pada akhir 2011.

Selain dari toko flagship 10-lantai di Paris dan properti lainnya di Prancis, Galeries Lafayette juga memiliki toko di Berlin dan Dubai.

Gila, Makassar hebat juga yah, Prada bisa masuk...kok di Surabaya belum ada Prada yah?

Karena di Surabaya tidak ada proyek dari Para Group yang juga menaungi Transmahagaya yang memegang Prada di Indonesia.
IMO, Prada masuk Makassar bukan semata mata masalah market di sana, saya yakin market luxury goods di Surabaya, Medan atau Bali lebih besar. Kalau pihak Trans tidak bekerjasama dengan Kalla group membangun proyek ini yang bisa dibilang sebagai signature project mereka, belum tentu juga Prada bisa masuk ke Makassar, makanya luxury brand yang masuk hampir semua milik Trans Mahagaya ( Boss, Aigner, Tod's, mango ), yang punya MAP misalnya belum terdengar kabar sama sekali akan masuk sana. Kasus yang sama juga dengan BSM 2 di Bandung, saya yakin brand2 dibawah Transmahagaya pasti masuk sana nantinya karena memang ini proyek Para Group. Bahkan jika kelak CT ekspansi ke kota lain seperti Palembang dan kota lain sekalipun beberapa brand milik Trans mahagaya pastilah akan dimasukan. Jadi mungkin juga Prada masuk Surabaya nya nunggu ada proyek Trans di sana hehehe....

Prada masuk Trans Studio Mall itu sebenarnya baru kemarin diberitakan, sebelumnya belum pernah ada tuh. sy juga ngak tau mungkin beritanya salah tulis atau memang benar2 mau masuk yg pasti di iklanya kemaren ngak ada logo Prada disitu.

agree bro, tapi sori neh buat kasus bandung ane kagak setuju bro, untuk market di sana mungkin bisa dikatakan pesaing buat surabaya, more than medan kalo menurut ane, setau ane di BSM 1 yang jelas2 milik para group yg punya transmahagaya produk map kayak nine west, next, nautica, bally, burberry ada juga bro, pastinya ntar di BSM2 juga ga bakal jauh beda sepertinya. percampuran antara trans mahagaya dan map, begitupun di paris van java, antara sogo, mango, guess by marciano etc saling berdampingan just like @ sby di bdg para shopaholìc sudah punya market sendiri.

saya sama sekali gak meragukan market di Bandung kok, saya mengangkat BSM 2 cuma ingin menunjukkan bahwa di setiap proyek mall para grop pasti brand di bawah trans mahagaya dimasukan. Makanya saya juga tulis di postingan saya kalau yang di Makassar belum ada luxury brand di luar Transmahagaya yang mau masuk misal dari MAP, ini jelas beda dengan yang di BSM. nah perbedaan ini yang saya jadikan acuan bahwa masuknya luxury brand di Makassar bukan alasan market semata karena yang masuk baru punya para group semua gak kaya yang di Bandung. Di Bandung proyek non Para seperti PVJ juga dibanjiri international brand hal yang belum ditemui di Mall non Para di Makassar.
Mungkin suatu saat nanti MAP dan pemain lainnya juga bakal masuk Makassar setelah yakin pasarnya memang potensial.

Sad to hear Harvey Nichols closing down - the only Harvey Nichols department store in South East Asia. Jakarta will become the top destination for high-end shopping if both Galeries Lafayette and Harvey Nichols are both presence there.

^^ Harvey Nichols' closing down is all purely speculations right now. I just recently checked Harvey Nichols main headquarter in the UK, and they still confirm Jakarta as one of their main flagships. So nothing is set in stone and we'll see next year when it all unfolds, whether Galeries Lafayette is replacing Harvey Nicks or not.
Galeries Lafayette is just as luxe as Harvey Nicks if not more, but we would love it if we could have both of them in the city and not just one of them.

Usually, Plaza Indonesia will remove the photos from their website after the store already close down.

The history of Armani in Indonesia is up and down, just like a rollercoaster. Armani used to open a store in indonesia under Club 21, but unfortunately it wasn't going well and finally they closed down the store. And... Armani is come back to indonesia in 2007, but now under MAP, with Giorgio Armani at Grand Indonesia, Emporio Armani & Armani Casa at Plaza Indonesia. and here we are in 2010, just 3 years from the re-opening of Armani, now they forced to quit again the store. Hopefully they will come again, someday :D

About Harvey Nichols issue, i'm not pretty sure until now. But all the fact & news i got, it seems that all the road is leading to, closing down. The fact is that the size of Harvey Nichols at Grand Indonesia spread over 10,000 sqm. The news reported that Galeries Lafayette is due to open in Jakarta, end of 2011 with over 10,000 sqm too.. what a coincidence, huh? at the same time, Harvey Nichols is no longer listed at MAP's department store portfolio, same case for Giorgio Armani & Emporio Armani too.. and today, MAP website is not accessable, since the news is spreading fast, yesterday. And this is just my own conclusion based on all the fact & news i got, that sooner or later Harvey Nichols will close down their jakarta store, maybe next year. The same info that i got about Giorgio Armani closing down issue, last year. But worry not, Galeries Lafayette is replacing Harvey Nichols, they are still at the same level of luxury.

I assume that Cartier / Time place at Pacific Place will open soon this month, since they almost finish all the fittings.

The luxury development in Indonesia is actually going up, but some of the brand just can't meet their expectation here, these are brands that closed down since 2008 until mid-2010 (when the global economic crisis start to hit this industry):

Usually, Plaza Indonesia will remove the photos from their website after the store already close down.

The history of Armani in Indonesia is up and down, just like a rollercoaster. Armani used to open a store in indonesia under Club 21, but unfortunately it wasn't going well and finally they closed down the store. And... Armani is come back to indonesia in 2007, but now under MAP, with Giorgio Armani at Grand Indonesia, Emporio Armani & Armani Casa at Plaza Indonesia. and here we are in 2010, just 3 years from the re-opening of Armani, now they forced to quit again the store. Hopefully they will come again, someday :D

About Harvey Nichols issue, i'm not pretty sure until now. But all the fact & news i got, it seems that all the road is leading to, closing down. The fact is that the size of Harvey Nichols at Grand Indonesia spread over 10,000 sqm. The news reported that Galeries Lafayette is due to open in Jakarta, end of 2011 with over 10,000 sqm too.. what a coincidence, huh? at the same time, Harvey Nichols is no longer listed at MAP's department store portfolio, same case for Giorgio Armani & Emporio Armani too.. and today, MAP website is not accessable, since the news is spreading fast, yesterday. And this is just my own conclusion based on all the fact & news i got, that sooner or later Harvey Nichols will close down their jakarta store, maybe next year. The same info that i got about Giorgio Armani closing down issue, last year. But worry not, Galeries Lafayette is replacing Harvey Nichols, they are still at the same level of luxury.

I assume that Cartier / Time place at Pacific Place will open soon this month, since they almost finish all the fittings.

Masalah Harvey Nichols vs Galeries Lafayette menurut saya tetep Harvey Nichols bakal tutup diganti Galeries Lafayette. Selain alasan2 dan pertanda2 yg sudah dikemukakan teman2 di depan masih ada pertanda yg lain, Pertama so far belum ada mall baru highend khusus nya yg akan menampung 10.000m2 Galeries Lafayette dalam jangka waktu dekat ini, CWJ sendiri buka 2012 jadi kemungkinan besar lokasi dari Galeries Lafayette nantinya adalah replacement. Kedua Harvey Nichols sejauh ini sedang melakukan diskon besar2an dalam rentang waktu 1 bulan lebih saya perhatikan masih diskon mlulu furthur reduction and so on. Apakah ini bukan merujuk pada penghabisan stok Harvey Nichols sendiri?
Saya sendiri pasti akan sangat menyayangkan apabila Harvey Nichols tutup walau saya sendiri belum mampu belanja di sana hehe.

I'm not sure bout Armani Casa, but i guess it will close down too, since Armani Casa Jakarta, is no longer listed on armani.com together with Giorgio Armani & Emporio Armani. Last week, they're still having clearance sale (usually when branded boutique's having clearance sale, it means closing down most of the time).

I got an info, that Chopard regional director are visiting Plaza Indonesia, and they are planning to re-open their store again here in Jakarta. :)

Yes, sayang banget sebenernya kalo Harvey Nichols tutup, padahal baru 2 tahun buka, tapi karena digantikan oleh Galeries Lafayette, jadi dengan berat hati, masih "gpp" lah, kecuali kalo HN digantikan oleh sogo, baru deh "naik darah", hehehe :D

Haha bisa jadi juga sih apalagi PI kalau cuman diisi debenhams ketinggian mall nya hehe.
Oh ya bagaimana dengan highend departement store dari asia seperti Takashimaya, Isetan atau Central lah mereka kan belum buka di Jakarta atau kota2 lain. Ada planning mereka masuk ke Indonesia?
Takashimaya di NY katanya lebih terkenal pelayanannya dibanding Saks atau Bergdorf Goodman.

Debenhams di PI sudah diganti oleh Marks & Spencer Mega Store. Dan nggak mungkin juga masuk ke PI karena nggak ada space sebesar 10.000sqm. Sdh jelas kok keliatannya, Harvey Nichols itu seluas 10.000sqm & Galeries Lafayette dikabarkan juga bakal seluas 10.000sqm. Jadi IMO, Harvey Nichols bakal diganti oleh Galeries Lafayette, wanna bet??? :D

Sampai sekarang kayanya belom ada deh planning departement store dari Asia untuk masuk Indonesia. Lagipula kayanya belum ada tempatnya, kecuali menggusur tenants yang ada.

Ngomong2 kenapa Sogo di Indonesia ko gak masuk kategori High-End kaya di Jepang atao Taiwan ? Disana Sogo isinya Chanel, Burberry, Hermes, Diesel, dan teman - temannya. Selain itu Interiornya juga bagus. Sedangkan di Indonesia isinya kebanyakan brand - brand normal dan Interiornya biasa aja.

Iya, belum ada space available di existing shopping mall yang sudah ada, kecuali dengan menutup atau "menggusur" branded store yang sdh ada, tapi kayaknya kok nggak mungkin ya :D

Hmmm, sepertinya dulu pertama kali konsep sogo waktu baru masuk plaza indonesia, konsepnya sama kok, banyak hi-end brand nya, cuma kayaknya nggak sukses, jadi di down grade levelnya, jd sukses malah. Sama seperti Seibu juga, di Japan, Seibu itu hi-end, sudah kayak Harvey Nichols aja isi nya, tapi di sini, Seibu sama aja dengan Sogo, middle level. Mungkin karena market disini lebih suka independent store daripada semuanya di dept store., apalagi dept store yang isi nya hi-end semua seperti Harvey Nichols, banyak konsumen yang merasa "terintimidasi" terlebih dulu, jd enggan masuk. Jadi konsep dept store middle yang tidak "mengintimidasi" sepertinya lebih disukai market disini, IMHO. :D

yang pasti sih trans mahagaya is in talks to get the armani brand. it's too good to pass up.
kalo udah dibawah trans mahagaya i think we can be relieved since it'll mushroom just like hugo boss, tod's and prada, just to name a few.
mitra is awesome in getting new brands, but it's a little unstable to sustain the brands' existence, whereas trans mahagaya is more conservative in expanding their portfolio, but once it's under their wings, it'll be nurtured to flourish.

In my opinion, it is possible to exclude Jakarta from the list of "most global retail in Asia". My reason:

First, A lot of global brands still consider our market as a second grades market. Almost every global brands prefer to enter countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand ( in Southeast Asia ) before entering our market. Only, recently, those global brands put their eyes on our market. Thanks to the recent economic crisis that make a lot of global retailer realize how lucrative we are.

Second, In terms of supermarkets, discount stores, specialty stores, convenience store. Jakarta ,obviously, looses to other Asian country. In this part, Jakarta is ,mostly, supplied by our local retailer such as : Index, Giant, electronic solution, Alfamart, Gramedia, etc. While other Asian countries get Tesco, Ikea, Family Mart, Jusco, Page One, etc.

Third, in terms of department stores and other fashion brands. The only global department stores that we have in Jakarta is Debenhams, Sogo, HN, and Seibu ( In Southeat Asia we only different because we have Seibu and HN ). While other Asian countries have more variety such as Robinsons, Tangs, Isetan, Takashimaya, etc as an addition.

Fourth, our fashion brands are supplied by local retailers such as MAP, Transmahagaya, etc which haven't got international reputation ( they only carter Indonesian market ). While other Asian countries are supplied by their local retailers which have got international reputation ( Singapore Club 21, Malaysia Valiram, Hongkong Dickson )

Misc :

First, now those Global brands have put their eyes on us and already show a willingness to enter. So, if the government able to mantain this economic growth and reform several regulations ( tax for example ), it is just about time until Those brands come to our market. I think we can become on par with Singapore in 2020.

Second, our retailers have become more matured. Therefor, they will be able to adapt ,and survive in the competition with those global brands.

Third, if the report comes in h2. I think we can perform better since several brands such as Carl's Jr, Yoshinoya, spinelli, etc have officialy entered our market, and several brands such as brands under MAP open several new stores, plus several opening soon like Y-3, Gallery Lafayette, etc.

i might sure that HN needs to give more sale to several expensive items make sure they're not closing.

For Galeries Laffayette, sebenarnya di Dubai ga terlalu bagus interiornya. Even though its full of FANCY brands, interiornya ga mengundang. Makanya di sana sepi. I more kinda betting on GL for Ciputra World OR Grand City Surabaya. (If you want to know what I mean, take a look on Dubai Mall's thread in Middle East part)

For all Armani brands, Trans Mahagaya is OUR LAST HOPE.

For me, MAP lebih ke brand yang B+ ke A, sementara Trans Mahagaya more to A to A+

And I'm more consider that METRO and Mahagaya mempunyai pangsa pasar yang almost tidak jauh berbeda. Di Singapore dan Indonesia, METRO sudah termasuk Hi-End Dept Store berkat kehadiran mereka di Paragon Orchard dan Plaza Senayan. Nyatanya malah mereka jauh lebih laku dibanding sama toko2 independen.

Tapi, kalau dibilang lokasi metro di Hi End Mall itu benar sekali.

Jadi kalau begitu thought nya, coba bayangkan saja range harga di independent store itu sama seperti metro?? ramai seperti kacang goreng lah toko2 independen di PS macam Prada, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo, Tod's, kalo sdh dipersepsikan sama2 hi end seperti metro. Btw, Until now, I always wondering why HN choose Jakarta over Singapore, and suddenly Gallery Lafayette also choose Jakarta than reopening Singapore Branch. Perkiraan pendapatan MAP tahun 2010 sekitar 4,9 triliun rupiah ( refer ke berita pada halaman 19 dari thread ini ). Jika kita asumsikan Trans Mahagaya dan perusahaan ritel fashion lain mempunyai pendapatan yang sama maka masyarakat Indonesia menghabiskan 14,7 triliun. Hal ini berarti sekitar setengah pendapatan retail fashion Indonesia berada di Singapura.

Dan jika saja 30 % dari spending for shopping di Singapura dapat ditarik balik ke Indonesia ( sekitar 4 triliun rupiah ). I think news about fashion retailers withdraw from our market will never ever exist. Btw, even after taking 30 % we still spend higher than Chinese consumer. ( Chineses spend S$ 1.4 bilion while after the 30% reduction Indonesians spend S$ 1.47 bilion or S$ 70 million higher )

From that, I think maybe when HN desided to enter our market, HN definitely aiming for the slice of our spending abroad. But it turns out into a little miscalculation. Therefor, I don't think GL will also enter if MAP and other retailers in Indonesia don't provide a better baits. ( I think they definitely have somethings untuk narik kembali shoppers2 kita ke Indonesia )

@archiholic & D3Y : House of Bally & Inconique menurut saya adalah butik reseller dari Bally & Aigner bukan butik resmi. Tetapi buat lebih jelasnya cek saja di store locator, karena tidak mungkin brand tersebut tidak mencantumkan butiknya di websitenya, kecuali jika butik tersebut baru buka di tahun 2010. Selain itu bisa juga ada kemungkinan second line seperti Giorgio Armani dengan Emporio Armani atau franchise seperti Burberry dengan Burberry Blue Label buat Jepang.

^^ Kemaren saya bersama rombongan saya yang ke Marina Bay Sands Mall merasakan hal seperti itu, waktu masuk ke beberapa high class store ternyata pelayanan yang diberikan sungguh baik. Teman satu rombongan saya beli sendal sekitar S$120 (Harusnya dapet GST) ternyata lupa dicap buat direfund nanti GSTnya, eh malah petugas toko itu lari ngejar rombongan kami yang udah cukup jauh, cuma buat ngecap struknya temen rombongan saya itu.
Makanya banyak yang milih belanja ke Singapore, padahal kalo masalah harga, masih murah di Jakarta deh (Walaupun untuk elektronik murahan disana, saya beli software di apple premium reseller disana lebih murah dari premium reseller disini) IMOloh ya

yup saya juga punya teman yang hobby ke singapore, kata dia tetep aja beda susananya kalo di sana katanya jalan tuh enak aja antar mall to mall, transportasinya juga ga ribet, kalau belanja juga cuek aja pake kaos sama sendal juga pelayanannya juga bagus ga diremehin, emang gitu ya?

soalnya kalo saya belum pernah ke singapore, jadi ga bisa bilang deh. jadi yang saya tarik dr pendapat dia tuh, dr masalah transportasi yang nyaman (langsung di dalem mall kali ya?) terus sama pelayan2nya disana yang bagus. (jadi gua kalo ngomong sama dia tuh selalu tarik urat, drpd dia belanja macem2 disana kayak LV, Hermes mendingan belanja disini sekalian (tetep kekeuh buat nyuruh dia belanja di indo, tetep aja dia ngotot sekarang berdalih brgnya lebih lengkap disana sama seasonnya up date cepet)

member yang ud pernah ke SG bagi komentarnya dong ;)

customer service di jakarta juga bagus kok.... pake kaos, celana pendek dan sendal juga ngga diremehin. dan kalau masalah season, jakarta ngga kalah cepat juga. perbandingan harga antara sg dan indo, kalau dihitung overall cost (hotel, tiket pesawat, etc), harga-nya lebih murah di indo. dan sebetulnya koleksi brand name di indo lebih lengkap dari sg, dengan ada-nya harvey nichols..

customer service di jakarta juga bagus kok.... pake kaos, celana pendek dan sendal juga ngga diremehin. dan kalau masalah season, jakarta ngga kalah cepat juga. perbandingan harga antara sg dan indo, kalau dihitung overall cost (hotel, tiket pesawat, etc), harga-nya lebih murah di indo. dan sebetulnya koleksi brand name di indo lebih lengkap dari sg, dengan ada-nya harvey nichols..

Kalo untuk branded, emang sebenernya murahan di jakarta, cuma yang saya denger, produk di singapore katanya lebih baru

Intinya tetep 1, gengsi. Tas boleh sama2 hermes tapi yg gw punya beli di SG or HK yg lo punya beli di Indo ya jelas menang yg gw punya lah.... gt
Padahal masalah harga di Indo lbh murah drpd di SG kalo pinter merhatiin n gak asal comot lho yah, tp skrg SG punya tax refund itu jd gimmick lagi bwt blanja di sono.
Kalo suasana memang indo kalah jauh ma sg hehe.
Tapi kalo saya pribadi tetep milih blanja di indo saja bwt ke sg aja bth tiket pp lumayan kan buat belanja dompet or kaos di indo hehe.

^^ yg namanya belanja d luar negri, yg namanya murah itu jarang banget. kalo misalny harganya sama pun, kita sbnarnya uda worse off gara2 tiket PP, belom lagi fluktuasi rupiah thdp dollar.. walopun belakangan ini rupiah lumayan stabil.

beda halnya kalo masuk k casino, terus menangny minimal harga tiket PP CGK-SG. jadi ya break even lah. :lol: *spt temen sy. :lol: tapi ya itu cuma hoki sih.

^^ Makanya, grup saya hanya keluarga saya aja yang tentengan shoppingnya ga ada, karena emang kalau mau shopping mendingan di Indonesia :D
Tapi lain kalo parfum ya, parfum2 luxury disana bisa dapet harga miring banget, kaya kemaren saya ketemu Bvlgari Aqva, harganya cuma s$ 40, beda banget sama di Jakarta, tapi lupa nama mallnya apa

MAP set to open new Sogo outlet in Central Park Mall

PT Mitra Adiperkasa (MAP), a premier lifestyle retailer, will open another Sogo department store
outlet at Central Park Mall in West Jakarta.

The outlet, which is expected to come into full operation this month, is part of the company’s business expansion plan this year. It will be the 11th Sogo outlet in the country.

MAP’s corporate secretary and general manager for investor relations, Fetty Kwartati, said in Jakarta on Monday that, with the expansion of retail outlets, the company hoped to be able to meet its target of achieving between 15 percent and 20 percent growth in total sales, this year.

“Besides opening a new Sogo outlet, we will also open a number of specialty stores and food and beverage outlets in the Central Park Mall,” she said, adding that MAP would be the mall’s anchor tenant.

She added that the company had allocated Rp 250 billion (US$28 million) to support business expansion this year. MAP booked a 51 percent increase in operating profits during the first six months of this year to
Rp 186 billion, up from Rp 123 billion in the same period last year.

Fetty said the significant increase in the operating profits was partly a result of increases in sales and a decline in operating costs. She added that the operating profits were mainly contributed by MAP’s specialty stores (78 percent), department stores (12 percent) and food and beverage outlets (7 percent).

Besides increases to the company’s operating profits, MAP also recorded a 9.7 percent increase in net revenue to Rp 2.15 trillion from
Rp 1.96 trillion in the same period last year. However, net profits suffered, falling to Rp 100 billion from Rp 115 billion due in part to the strengthening of the rupiah against the US dollar. MAP plans to open around 100 outlets this year and as of June the company has opened 69 new stores in the country’s major cities.

As of June, MAP owns a total of 748 outlets with 26 department stores, 592 specialty stores and 127 food and beverage outlets. MAP is an authorized distributor and franchisee of 90 international top-line brands, including Zara, Dorothy Perkins, Sports Station, Reebok, Swatch, Tumi, Maxmara and Giorgio Armani. (map)

Oh ya kalo Charles and Keith itu masuk luxury ga sih? Soalnya adik saya di MBS beli sendal Charles and Keith seharga 50 SGD, kalo dikurskan ke rupiah sekitar 350 ribuan, apakah itu lebih murah atau lebih mahal?? Itu juga ga sale ya :)

Charles & Keith itu jauuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh bgt dari luxury, hanya Footwear Accessories biasa saja.. charles & Keith di MBS itu yang signature label, jadi sedikiiittt lebih mahal dr charles & keith biasa.

Kalo belanja di SG, cuma belanja saja branded2 yang belum ada di jakarta, spt Fred Perry, Ben Sherman, DSquared2, Desigual, Herve Leger, Cole Haan, agnes b, New Look, River Island, Uniqlo, Bread & Butter, D&G etc... Kalo branded2 yang lainnya sudah banyak tersedia di jakarta jd percuma kalo beli di SG, ada yg lbh murah sedikit tp beberapa branded lbh mahal sedikit soalnya tergantung fluktuasi rupiah (dan kurang lebih sama akhirnya setelah dpt GST refund), dan sebenernya customer service di jakarta jg bagus kok, sama saja, pake sandal jepit plus kaos pun dilayani dengan baik.. :) dan juga koleksi baru yg datang ga ada beda antara Sg & Jkt, sama saja koleksinya, malah ada beberapa item yg ga ada di Sg tp ada di Jkt, demikian pula sebaliknya.. :D

@sasamakan: no offence bro.. itu $40 parfum bukan yg original kali? ad campuran ma air ny kali. kalo ga, $40 itu mgkin cuma brpa puluh mili-liter.. soalny selama ini, bnyak yg kira kalo d sg itu sbnarny semua ny serba asli, baru, original.. dan itu semua bullsh*t. ga semuanya begtu. ad kok bbrpa toko yg jual CD palsu, parfum palsu dan yg palsu2 lainnya..

baru2 ini ad d berita, kalo jenis penyalahgunaan obat tertinggi d negara itu adlah Heroin dan amphetamin (lewat penyelundupan sih tapi uda pada ketangkep kok). so sesuatu yg dari luar dikiranya bagus, aman, dll.. tapi kalo dicermati baik2, belom tentu demikian. (sorry OOT :) )

btw, GST refund (yg cuma sbsar 7% CMIIW) it sbnarnya cuma salah satu cara buat
menyedot wisatawan2 spy berbelanja dsono.. lagian cuma eligible buat yg spend diatas $100. :)
