I just got done "fixing" a traffic problem in one of my cities and wanted to show off the improvements :)

The commute times in the city were the worst in my region but my new highways fixed that (as can be seen in the graph)

Here is the city before hand.

Also a view of the traffic problem areas (some of the red is rail/subway)

Here are a few close up pics of problem areas.

First things first, I connected these highways.

More after pics of the areas.

Here is the 'after' traffic map. The red is mostly concentrated on the new highways I built, so I consider it a success.

I bulldozed alot my city (and lost 100,000 people) but it was worth it and I was redeemed with an increase of 100,000 people over what I started with. Also got a chance to move the badly located Airport. So if you take anything from this pointless thread its that you shouldn't be afraid of bulldozing stuff for the future. Thanks for letting me show it off (I did all this work and needed to show someone!) :D

Well done, it looks really cool. The fact that more people now live in a smaller area is pretty cool too, if you ask me.

I have an airport that's really in a bad location, I am afraid to tear up some commercial area and move it but now I think I'll tackle it. You really did a great job, Kudos! :okay:

does airport location really matter?

I keep getting weird messages saying that the access to it is poor. Maybe I shouldn't move it, instead build like a highway or place a subway station next to it.

That is really cool. I have the same problem in one of my cities. I have been trying to fix it for years now. Problem is that it is connection to another city and that city is a small one and demolishing things there means there is no new land to rebuild on. ;)

I don't believe so. For the airport it was in a great location in that city, right next to downtown and lots of residential areas. Unfortunatly that makes it a hot location for me to develope (also needed the land for highways) It gets just as many flyers at its new location out at the edge of town.
