Growing Jones AT&T

Texas Tech University is underway on a $1 billion construction program, which includes a new $31 million expansion to its Jones AT&T Stadium, the home of the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team. The stadium is now adding an east building, which will cover 110,000 square feet and feature 26 suites and 544 club seats on two floors.

In addition, during the week, the facility will house a student-operated restaurant in the Stadium Club that overlooks the stadium’s field. The ground floor will feature a ticket office and the home of the Red Raider Club, the team’s spirit organization.

It will ultimately house the Double T Shop, a souvenir shop featuring Texas Tech–branded apparel and souvenirs, and a Hall of Honor.

An additional 6,000 permanent seats are being added to the North Endzone in this phase.

Previously, TTU completed a $22 million modernization of the stadium’s infrastructure. The university recently completed the construction of a 175,000-square-foot west stadium building that houses 52 luxury suites, 1,100 club suites and a press box, at a cost of $56 million.

Current Capacity of Jones AT&T Stadium is 54,000 with a new capacity of around 62,000 after the current upgrade.

Yep, they're expanding everywhere both on the Texas Tech campus and directly off-campus with the North Overton redevelopment where they recently built this 4-star hotel across from the stadium.

Check out TTURed's blog (http://ttured.blogspot.com/) thread for his continuous photo updates of construction and development in and around the Texas Tech campus. Great stuff!

View looking up at the balcony of the Jones Stadium West Side Building, the new East side building follows the same Spanish Renaissance style of architecture, but will have its own unique look.
