Ayoh....hard la like this if everytime need to remind you. That is why la people ask you to settle down. Easier for your wife to remind you about your everyday schedule mah :D

Actually 6-Star and 7-Star are marketing gimmicks. There isn't any 6/7/8 stars hotels as the highest rating is just 5-Star. Some super luxurious hotels like the Ritz-Carlton and Carcosa Seri Negara which just have 13 rooms ( suites actually :D ) aren't qualified as 5-Star as they lack in certain criterias. These are boutique hotels. ;)
So to answer your question.....there isn't any 6-stars in KL nor the entire world...
....and I just loved to say this > Burj Al Arab IS NOT A 7-STAR HOTEL....period...... :D :D :D
Dun worry Darren.....you're not the first to fall into this 6/7 star hotel gimmick :D

I just need the reminder function ....not the entire package which comes with nagging and freedom-buster :D
True that PDAs would be obsulete in time but I could always get a nicer and better model. Plus it comes cheap and easy to maintain and portable. Can't said the same bout 'wife'

D_Y2k.2^ October 29th, 2004, 08:46 AM well, after looking at this hotel's lobby for a while,i realise that they shouldnt have used the white marble as it stains easily.Makes it look a little retro too though.Maybe using a pure white tyle will do:D

GaryinSydney November 23rd, 2004, 03:06 AM Beautiful pics there Nazrey!
Am staying there in my visit in March for 3 or 4 nights, can't wait!
Have read that the service is terrible & spa facilities are out at the moment. Is this true? Last time i stayed JW Marriott there but fancied staying at the new Westin, which are usually great.

.
Why don't you try either KL Hilton or Le Meridien for a change. Beside both are the latest hotel in KL and located at KL Sentral. ;)
GaryinSydney November 23rd, 2004, 07:01 AM Thanks for the suggestion Zahirnya - but i really wanna stay on Jlb BB!
Plus, i've already paid for the hotel, so dunno if i cld change it.
Surely the Westin can't be too bad?....

Yea.....I think Westin's location is much better. Furthermore that now with the KL Monorail opened, everywhere is accessible :okay:
GaryinSydney November 23rd, 2004, 11:17 PM Thanks Sze, but is it really possible to get to KLCC and Mid Valley & 1 Utama by monorail?
Is Avenue K open yet? Does anyone have a tenant list?
szehoong November 24th, 2004, 12:21 AM Thanks Sze, but is it really possible to get to KLCC and Mid Valley & 1 Utama by monorail?

It is possible to go to KLCC via monorail but I think it is a bit of hassle as you need to disembark from Bukit Nenas station and walk about 150m to Dang Wangi station. I would suggest you walk across to Jalan Raja Chulan and take a cab there since you stay at the Westin. Another good idea is to walk there since it is kinda near. ;)
As to Midvalley....just take the monorail to KL Sentral and board the KTM Komuter from there. It is just a single stop from KL Sentral. Be sure you take the Seremban-bound train ;)
1 Utama is still inaccessible by metro :(
Avenue K had these as tenants (I saw the u/c signages from the outside):
- Hugo Boss
- Gucci
- Zegna
.....I am not too sure bout the rest. But the bottom 2 floors had been opened and quite a number of shops too. You could check out out Avenue K thread in the Countdown 2020 forum ;)
GaryinSydney November 24th, 2004, 01:05 AM Thanks again Sze! You're a mine of information for this shopaholic!
Tell me, what's the latest info on Starhill Centre where Tangs used to be and the new small centre near KL Plaza - what shop are in there?
Alos, hope i can meet up with you and your mates when i'm over there?

Thanks mate! ;)
Well......Starhill Centre is under some major renovation by the world's renowed David Rockwell. The space used to be Tang's is the major focal-point and the entire development is kept hush-hush. So I guess that since YTL (the company that owns the centre) is pouring in so much money ....I guess it would be something very exciting ;)
The small centre is called Picollo Galleria and the last time I was there only 4 shops were opened (the rest under renovation). The four shops were a photo shop......a jewellery store called Da Vinci (of the furniture fame) and ....gosh.....I forgot what are the rest. ANyway its been almost a month since I last saw that place so I guess I would make it a point to be there prolly this weekend (keeping my fingers crossed!) :D
Sure.....just gimme a buzz....my number is +6 012-3331237 ........it would be nice if you could tell me ya plans here (or at least a rough one) so I could plan my time better ;)
GaryinSydney November 24th, 2004, 01:32 AM I'm basically having a two week holiday over Easter, flying MAS, mostly to visit friends in Tokyo. Am spending 8 days in Tokyo, then 4 days in KL on the way back to Sydney.
Am coming with my partner, Scott -his first time in KL! So guess i'll mostly be playing the tourist and visiting the shops!

I love to bring people around esp first-timers. :D ANyway it would be nice meeting you too! :)
KL would have changed quite a bit within the next few months. Just let me know ya plans or where you wanna go and what days (very important) as I've gotta let you know when I would be free ;)
ZaHiRnYa??? November 24th, 2004, 02:10 AM I want to join also :D

As you know, i'm always excitedly checking these boards for info - i still have 4 months before my trip.
It's always great to have locals show one around (and take me for drinks at Blue Boy!)
ZaHiRnYa??? November 24th, 2004, 02:53 AM It's always great to have locals show one around (and take me for drinks at Blue Boy!)
You should ask Sze then to accompany you for a drinks at Blue Boy. It is Blue Boy or Blue Bar?
GaryinSydney November 24th, 2004, 02:56 AM and where will you be taking me Zahirnya?!

GaryinSydney April 26th, 2005, 05:24 AM Thanks for the Pics Connie, so what did you think of the hotel?
I've booked the Westin for my August trip, but after seeing your pictures, it doesn't look very special? Maybe the Marriott or Regent would be better?
Anyone have an opinion on this please?
ZaHiRnYa??? April 26th, 2005, 05:32 AM Never been inside Marriot. Can't really comment bout it...
GaryinSydney April 26th, 2005, 06:23 AM Hi Zahi, i stayed Marrioot 2 yrs ago & was fine
ZaHiRnYa??? April 26th, 2005, 06:31 AM Hi Zahi, i stayed Marrioot 2 yrs ago & was fine
Ha..ha...
Again...me got confused...I was referring to Westin...not Marriot. Sorry Gary ;)
szehoong April 26th, 2005, 06:57 AM Hmmmm.........I think the room looks similar to JW Mariott except that this is more contemporary and JW Mariott is kinda classical-looking.
And the thing is that sometimes picture dun do justice and seriously lah guys......what else would you guys expect more from a hotel room at that price? A swimming pool or a grand piano? :D

Vrooms April 22nd, 2010, 08:20 AM Westin is a nice hotel. However i prefer the JW Marriott if you are talking about the hotels in the Bukit Bintang area.
GaryinSydney April 23rd, 2010, 07:26 AM I've booked the Westin (again) for my trip to KL in June. Have stayed here 4 times now and think it cannot be beaten for Jln BB area.
I've previously stayed at the JW Marriott and Westin wins imo.
Now if only Fahrenheit 88 could open early.......
