Agree and kung i-compare mo naman yung Deca sa ibang low-cost housing, medyo malayo po ang agwat lalo na sa lawak ng roads, 'di gaya sa ibang low-cost na halos trisikad lang pwede dumaan.

I called deca and said baka october daw darating yun Foreigner na operator. But i doubt the park would be open in October. Mukhang matatagalan pa. I brought my wakeboard and vest already from manila and was excited to go to Deca but I got disappointed na d nagopen. Mejo nasira yun buong week ko.

Hopefully if anyone has any update kung kelan talaga magoopen sana ipost niyo agad yun date. Ihope Deca won't advertise a wrong opening date again.

My bindings and board are old. 2005 pa. hehe. last time i went wakeboard 2006 pa hehehe. Liquid force bindings and liquid force omega 2005 135 board.

I am not good with wakeboard but was into it when i was in college days. past time and na influence ng friends. hahaha

I am not sure with the price but binding around 15k and board mga 15-20k. Screws 2k. Yun vest mga 6k ata jet pilot

the story goes na DECA applied only for housing with "amenities" but the problem the wakeboard facility cannot be categorize as part of the amenities bec it's to BIG para bang sinabi na USEP Gymnasium is part of USEP, so mischevious or not the DECA should reapply for another permit this time its for sports facility permit. but Sara said their is no hitch na highlight lang daw na because of media.

It opens ds week. Went there awhile ago for soft opening. The place was really nice. For sure it would be a tourist spot here in Davao. All the people were great and they have the equipments.

Mindanao 1st wakeboard park to open in Davao soon

MINDANAO's first wakeboard park is now undergoing finishing touches and will open its gates soon, following the approval of its move for reclassification by the City Council.

JJ Atencio, 8990 Housing Development Corporation president, told Sun.Star Davao that they are now testing the cables of the sports facility.

Dubbed as Deca Wakeboard Park, the multimillion-project is the first of its kind outside Luzon.

"There are no more impediments to the project, and we hope to open really soon," Atencio said.

A couple of months ago, a hullabaloo was raised following the revelation the City Council has not yet approved the reclassification of the property being developed by 8990 into a wakeboard park.

The area is classified as residential.

"But the local government unit took it upon themselves for an approval to come in quickly. We showed them what our objective is and they saw that it is good for the city," Atencio said. "The project will definitely be a big boost to local and foreign tourists."

To coincide with the opening of the sports and recreational facility, a group of Korean investors are also putting up a Korean wakeboard school for the influx of Korean tourists who will try the sport.

"The revenues that will be generated by this project will also help the city," Atencio said. "It is what the Vice Mayor and our councilors saw in the project that they immediately passed the reclassification."

The Deca Wakeboard Park is complemented by the Deca Homes Resort and Residences, a residential project that aims to build a resort community at an affordable price.

DAVAO CITY, Dec. 11 – All systems go for the estimated P30-million DECA Wakeboard Park which would make Davao City the Mecca of extreme sports and wakeboarding enthusiasts.

Davao City Tourism Chief Rizal Giovanni Aportadera said a few more political maneuvering and this would have been the project that never was.(:ohno:) Thanks to vice mayor Sara Duterte’s general policy of approving development projects once they can come up with the necessary documents.:cheers:

After several hitches, Aportadera said the city council has finally approved last November the reclassification of a certain parcel of land in Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok District from Light Industrial Zone to Parks and Recreation Zone to accommodate the DECA Wakeboard Project.

“This tourism facility is very big for Davao City considering that we are the second place to operate such a facility after Camarines Sur,” he said.

Aportadera said being the location of a high profile sports facility like the DECA Wakeboard Park will make the city a popular destination among wakeboarding enthusiasts not only from neighboring provinces and cities in the Philippines but also from other countries.

“This could mean additional revenues for the barangay where the facility is located and generally to the local government unit and the business establishments in the city,” he said.

Lowell Yu, president of Xtremewake, Inc. which is a private institution composed of wakeboarding enthusiasts and which is in charge of project construction, said they are set to continue with the construction of the project in view of the planned opening this year.

Aportadera said DECA Wakeboard Park is set to host an international wakeboard competition next year with a projected 200 competitors from outside the Philippines.:cheers:

Add the hundreds of wakeboarding enthusiasts in the country and this create a significant figure for Davao’s tourism.

He said the park is expected to offer not only facilities for Wakeboarding but also allied facilities like restaurants, sports shop and a massage center. With free WiFi connection, entry to the park, inclusive of gear rental was pegged from P300 per hour to a thousand pesos for one whole day.

Dabawenyos were all agog over the DECA Wakeboard Park project which got the interest of local and foreign wakeboard enthusiasts when it was first announced.

The park was supposed to open their doors to the public last August in time for the Kadayawan month.

Aportadera said the park will be the largest wakeboarding park in Visayas and Mindanao with almost seven hectares of wakeboarding lake.

“If you do not have any idea about this sport then think of a burst of adrenaline while being carried by a speed boat or other speedy devices like a wakeboard while you are holding on to a rope attached to a cable system,” he said.

He said hopes of getting this adrenaline rush while in a paradise like Davao City were however quashed after the construction of the park was stopped after the city council led by city councilor Danilo Dayanghirang questioned the lack of the necessary permits and documents for the project.

While the Wakeboard Park is being developed by Xtremewake, Inc., he said the area is however owned by 8990 Housing Development Corporation (HDC). When they were apprised of the situation, HDC Assistant General Manager for Operations Mary Ann Chua submitted their application for reclassification of the area to accommodate the Park. The application was indorsed to the City Mayor’s Office on Oct. 1 this year, and was endorsed to the Council subcommittee on Housing, Rural and Urban Development.

Committee chairperson city councilor Bonifacio E. Militar and members city councilors Pilar Braga and Rachel Zozobrado recommended the approval for the reclassification application of HD for its Wakeboard Park project after the latter complied with all the legal requisites.

She said the company’s hydro-ecological studies show that the water requirement of the park will not adversely affect the water table of the area provided their extraction rate is less than 4.6 liters per second or 72.91 gallons per minute.

The company, she said only intend to use 60 to 65 gallons per minute which is very low. Water pumping will also be done only during the initial stage and the succeeding pumping only intermittent and minimal, since the seepage will recharge the water and will be used for the lake’s replenishment.

ah ganun ba. ok lang kahit walang thread sa SSC basta may activity in reality. :lol: aanhin ko naman yang mga articles eh "construct before you explain" ang motto ko bwehehe. ayokong maghintay kahit sabihin pang construction will commence in 3 months. tagal pa kaya ng 3 months ang dami pang mangyayari nyan. kaya mas gusto ko ang gaisano dito, construct lang ng construct walang news news hehe. at least, real time hindi virtual time or in the near future or back to the future ek ek.
