^^yes, I agree. With the relaxation of FAR and approvals for vertical growth soon Kolkata will have high-rises/skyscrapers amongst sprawling slums! The is not bad as long as surrounding infrastrastructure is being developed. IMO, having promoters spend money to develop/widen roads ( such as the case with Urbana) is a right step.
They should have a law that states any residential development > 10 acres in existing high density areas should involve promoters spending money to develop infrastructure
Suncity April 6th, 2011, 04:09 AM Google Earth update Jan 2011

SarafIndian April 6th, 2011, 05:42 AM ^^ That road looks like a concrete made..
studdmanster April 6th, 2011, 07:29 AM I guess that's in an initial stage, coz concrete road so wide is hardly seen in India!!!...IMO, it would be a asphalt road...however things would be clear once, it again gets updated!!

^^Sun, the region around Upohar looks well planned. Did not appear so from the ground level when we visted last March.
studdmanster April 6th, 2011, 03:42 PM ^^its been 1 year, so things has to change, however on the contrary, GE has upgraded most parts of Kolkata, even IIM C, but they have forgot a part of most of SL and a part of sec-5!!!

sabya99 May 12th, 2011, 12:11 PM There are very little terrace space. Where babus are going to hang dry their laundry?
mountaincloud May 13th, 2011, 12:56 AM i have seen clothes hangers in singapore that work very well (pic below). much better than using dryers so that the apartment looks clean from outside. not using the sun in a tropical country is an absurd idea. i hope the architects have thought of these issues before designing.

mountaincloud May 13th, 2011, 03:40 AM following up: upohar looks great! the problem of hanging clothes can be taken care of by an annular design (sort of a central courtyard inside) where clothes can be hung, but the apartment looks great from outside.

Almost. The 'Luxury Gold' (HIG Ph IV) is the last block of 4 towers, which is in rapid process of construction. Early 2012 for entire project to open doors.
ajaydas September 3rd, 2011, 06:21 PM With Hiland Park, Upohar and other highrises, the skyline of the Garia region, especially Chak Garia, is starting to look great. :)

Will they ever repair PA Shah Road connector. During my last month visit pot holes broke my back. It was an Amby with good shock absorber that saved me!

I don't know why the the state government gives so low priority to the east Calcutta roads. With so many other highrises coming up (Atmosphere,Urbana, etc) the government should really start to give the roads of the region some facelift.
samrat_m October 29th, 2012, 09:51 PM I guess this project is complete
