It's good for the government to try and reduce it's expenditure, but is this the best way to go about it? At over $3,000 per night for presidential suites in some of the hotels, the guest house option may be a better way to go, assuming they can keep the operation costs below the one hundred millions shillings they are currently paying. And for how long will these houses remain in government hands before they are allocated to some well-connected people? And which well-connected people are behind this plan? Another option would be to negotiate better rates with the hotels.
