View Full Version : The Lottery
Splish September 13th, 2009, 09:09 PM Inspired by the Derren Brown thread, I was just wondering on forumers success when playing the lottery, if they do at all.
I normally buy a line on euromillions, most i've won is around £75.
So who here plays the lottery and how much have you won? :)
dinp September 13th, 2009, 10:15 PM I play lotto and thunderball and have done ok this year, mainly on the thunderball. I've won about £250 on that so far this year including a tenner last night and a fiver last week. Have quite rotten luck on the main lotto draw though.
Rumors September 13th, 2009, 11:00 PM I spend about $2.00 a week, but never win. :ohno:
Megalothian September 13th, 2009, 11:47 PM I've done the same numbers on wednesday/saturday and a variation of those on the friday euro millions for years now.
I think I finished last year pretty level after winning a couple of £10's and 4 numbers twice, I also got 3 numbers and 2 lucky stars (5 out of 7 although of course it's easier to get the lucky star numbers) on the Euro and only walked away with £37 which I was a bit gutted about!
My aunt got 5 and the bonus a couple of years ago and bought a holiday home with the winnings (about £150,000 I think)
Nothing this year for me though.
poshbakerloo September 14th, 2009, 12:02 AM I've never played. I did once win £20 in a ticket my friend got me once...
CharlieP September 14th, 2009, 01:19 PM I won £1,990 in 2003 for getting 5 balls (odds of over 50,000 to 1, so the prize was a bit stingy!).
RichJay September 14th, 2009, 02:09 PM I've never got more than 3 numbers.
eddyk September 14th, 2009, 02:10 PM My parents have had 5 numbers twice netting around £2000 each time.
My uncle got all 6 numbers in 2007 winning £1.2million...he has more now due to the interest gained.
I myself have never won on a lottery ticket
cle September 14th, 2009, 06:10 PM I play maybe 1 or 2 weeks per month, random mixture of Wed, Sat and Euro and lucky dips - usually just £1 or £2.
With the exception of one time, I've never won a fucking thing. Not even a mingy little tenner.
The one time was about 5 years ago on one of these ridiculous rollovers when half the country plays and the prizes are tiny. I got 4 numbers and about £45, shite.
You're buying hope and daydream potential really, which is worth a quid.
CharlieP September 14th, 2009, 06:34 PM A group of people in my office are pooling our money for the £85 million EuroMillions on Friday. Every time we've done so, we've won nothing, which is actually less likely than winning at least one minor prize :(
alonzo-ny September 14th, 2009, 07:56 PM I've won the lowest prize on EuroMs a few times. I play online so my winnings have covered probably 50% of what I've spent. I already bought my ticket for friday!
eddyk September 14th, 2009, 07:58 PM I'd sooner put a quid on a lottery ticket than in say a slot machine....as it's going to a good cause.
I don't often buy a ticket...but if I do and lose I'm not so upset as my quid has gone somewhere worthwhile.
dinp September 14th, 2009, 08:11 PM Mine's all done online so it takes the money from my account monthly and pays it back when I win. Saves queuing, although sometimes I do the Euro Millions and have to queue like a regular joe for that
Mateusz September 15th, 2009, 11:52 AM Never won, but always playing for big prizes... millions, millions get in here ;)
StephenP September 15th, 2009, 06:40 PM My dad plays the lotto and the irish lotto.
Last week he played £2 on 3 numbers in the irish lotto and won £590. Not bad:)
However my cousin in Greece one the lottery and got 600,000 euros then won it a second time in 2 years and won 100,000 euros. Amazing luck!
Tubeman September 15th, 2009, 06:50 PM I'd sooner put a quid on a lottery ticket than in say a slot machine....as it's going to a good cause.

I'd play it a bit more if I were you, considering the evident Kimber luck
eddyk June 6th, 2012, 11:35 AM My parents have had 5 numbers twice netting around £2000 each time.
My uncle got all 6 numbers in 2007 winning £1.2million...he has more now due to the interest gained.
I myself have never won on a lottery ticket
Until today
£3.20 on the euro millions.
I probably play the lottery about 4 times a year... so I don't think I'm massively in the red.
mexico86 June 6th, 2012, 11:40 AM I read that as 3.20 million!!!!
gothicform June 6th, 2012, 11:49 AM someone i know actually got five numbers on the euro millions this last weekend. actually he posts on here so maybe he can tell us about his good luck.
Caiman June 6th, 2012, 12:02 PM £126 million jackpot this Friday. Ah if only.
eddyk June 6th, 2012, 12:25 PM £126 million jackpot this Friday. Ah if only.
I am confident I would blow through £126m with ease.
I'd build a house with a hanger big enough for 50 cars and buy every single car I've ever taken a fancy to. Several of them worth millions each.
alonzo-ny June 6th, 2012, 02:27 PM I won a fiver a week ago as some of you may remember. I am pretty confident I will win on Friday. Overall I have probably won back half of what I spend on dinky little wins. Actually I need to go "reinvest" my fiver in new tickets.
Megalothian June 6th, 2012, 02:30 PM someone i know actually got five numbers on the euro millions this last weekend. actually he posts on here so maybe he can tell us about his good luck.
Last year I got 5 numbers (3 main and 2 lucky stars) on the euro millions - I won the grand amount of £35! havn't played it since.....
alonzo-ny June 6th, 2012, 02:34 PM That seems harsh. What does 4 main and 2 stars get you?
Just reinvested. I now have tickets sorted for next two fridays and next tuesday. I am basically guaranteed to win the jackpot. If for some bizarre reason I don't I will probably not play again for a few months. Give someone else a chance, you know.
Also, when I win 126 million I will give all the nice forumers a shiny pound coin. Medo will receive one puppy of his choosing.
Medo June 6th, 2012, 02:37 PM If I win I will tile my bathroom with waterproof iPads, and I would buy a kindle for each book I own.
eddyk June 6th, 2012, 02:41 PM Based on the latest draws you would have won...
Match 5 + 2 Stars--- £109,315,672
Match 5 + 1 Star--- £266,505.80
Match 5--- £76,144.50
Match 4 + 2 Stars--- £3,416.70
Match 4 + 1 Star--- £147.10
Match 4--- £81.40
Match 3 + 2 Stars--- £48.80
Match 2 + 2 Stars--- £16.00
Match 3 + 1 Star--- £10.50
Match 3--- £9.50
Match 1 + 2 Stars--- £8.40
Match 2 + 1 Star--- £5.90
Match 2--- £3.20
With a fortune of £109m ($169m) you would be richer than most celebrities you could imagine. With only a few super film and sports stars having a personal wealth of more.
capslock June 6th, 2012, 02:58 PM someone i know actually got five numbers on the euro millions this last weekend. actually he posts on here so maybe he can tell us about his good luck.
4+1 on the Euromillions.
£139!!!
I can feel it changing me already
A different distribution of the same number of numbers would have netted me a shade over £50k from memory. doh!
eddyk June 6th, 2012, 03:00 PM You bastids.
I thought someone had won 76k and was very jealous indeed.
alonzo-ny June 6th, 2012, 03:01 PM That is nothing, Will won £43 pounds of Co-op vouchers and he is talking about moving to Switzerland.

Hey - all £140 buys you is a round of drinks and a chance to wind people up slightly. :)
