Stunning and superb night skyline! :eek2:
It definitely is quite underrated and needs taller signature towers to give it some attention.

Chonqing is notorious for its polluted sky and dirty river (even clean, it would be that muddy color). During the day, these things are obvious, but the brown skies and river are invisible at night, and instead all we see is city lights.

but why isn't there almost any pic like that

taken in daytime ?
i know there is this awful fog all the time but there must be a few clear days...

dcb11
February 20th, 2004, 06:39 PM
Its smog, actually, not fog. That's probably why people don't take as many pics of Chongqing during the day- it doesn't look very nice.

Chongqing should definitely be a sister city of Pittsburgh, since the downtowns, with the three rivers, have like the same layout. Oh, and both are known for industrial air pollution, although Pittsburgh isn't really like that since the days of steel have ended.

yeah, chongqing and pittsburgh should be like sister cities or something.

it's worthwhile to note that both of them are situated in mountanous areas with only the area where the rivers join being flat. and both got rail cars that run up the steep sides of hills too.

i read that back in the 1800s that the shores around downtown pittsburgh used to be filled with steamboats, pretty darn similar to chongqing today with all these ferries everywhere.

I think it has been proposed, but not started yet. However, the plan is okay, I guess.

PS: I don't think INLAND is the point. Sometimes rivers and lakes can also build a metropolis. Chicago is one of them, and I hope CQ will be another.

Chongqing Mayor Wang Hongju and Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman, invite you to attend the 2005 Asia Pacific Cities Summit.

NO... Chognqing will not be holding the 2008 Olympics. Its Beijing for all events except sailing, which is in Qingdao. The reason for that is because Beijing is not a coastal city. I don't know if any of the equestrian sports will be held in Hong Kong though...

Chongqing Administrative Disctrict has a population of 30 million I believe. However, Chongqing city itself has much less. Chongqing Administrative District covers a large amount of surrounding counties. Here is a map to give you an idea of how big the administrative disctrict is compared to the city.

The larger characters in bold is where Chongqing city is located.

Can you give me a link.

Chinese cities can change a lot in one year, especially Chongqing which is considered to be one of cities with fastest growth in recent years.

PS,many of Chongqing's huge projects have been completed and lots of old buildings have been renovated since the beginning of this year.this makes Chongqing a new city and the air cleaner.

Can you give me a link.

Chinese cities can change a lot in one year, especially Chongqing which is considered to be one of cities with fastest growth in recent years.

PS,many of Chongqing's huge projects have been completed and lots of old buildings have been renovated since the beginning of this year.this makes Chongqing a new city and the air cleaner.

ok, i try to search back the website to u, give me same time.

I've always wondered which is more important, Chengdu, which is the capital of Sichuan or Chongqing, which is a city in Sichuan.

Chongqing is not a city of Sichuan province, at least not anymore. It is now its own administrative district, just like Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai.

I didn't make the map and the point of it is not to show the "exact" locations of Chongqing and Chengdu, assuming the map is indeed inaccurate. The point is to show that the city of Chongqing is no longer part of Sichuan province which I thought the map did a fine job.
