View Full Version : The European city of the week
David von Muerte September 17th, 2009, 07:47 PM It occurred to me that we could talk each week from a city that I propose. Its urban projects, its monuments, its nightlife, its gastronomy, if you like it or not ...
1st week: Belgrade (Serbia)

I don't know this city, so I can't comment on it.
By the way, tell me which of these three cities should be the next:
Madrid (Spain)
Dubrovnik (Croatia)
Stockholm (Sweden)

Are my threads so uninteresting? Or people just don't know this city? :(
Wuxa September 17th, 2009, 08:44 PM ^^ What some images, comments, stories of Belgrade? :)
David von Muerte September 17th, 2009, 09:04 PM You could write something of Belgrade, I sure you know the city better than a German or Croatian. :)
This is a comment that I could find in Ciao.UK
"Most people think Belgrade is an odd choice of destination when choosing a holiday. But if you long to experience a beautiful cafe culture that is vibrant and diverse, whilst enjoying a beautiful city, which boasts many breath-taking sights and an incredible history then it is definitely the place for you. Not the typical city break, you may be under the impression that the city may be slightly hostile to western visitors or simply unsuitable. Having visited what has become my favourite city in the world in only April of this year, I can stongly recommend it for the inquisitive traveller!"
Wuxa September 17th, 2009, 09:19 PM Ok, just for you. Hahaha
Belgrade is the capital city of Serbia. With a population about 2,000,000 Belgrade is the fourth largest city on Balkan. The city is one of the oldest in Europe.
There you can find many images of this beautiful and mysterious city

You're seriously overreacting. It's just 1.2 million (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgrade), while metro is 1.6 million (3,200 kmē).
Wuxa September 18th, 2009, 11:23 PM ^^ With students, refugees (from Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo), Montenegrins and many of them who have no residence. :)
I nemoj da se pravis lud da ne znas srpski ;)
Verso September 18th, 2009, 11:56 PM Why would I speak Serbian in an intl. thread? Any link for 2 million inh.?
Wuxa September 19th, 2009, 12:01 AM Link does not exist and the inventory was not done since 2001, and I told you that students and refugees do not have permanent residence in Belgrade.

How do you know then? You must've read somewhere, no?
Rascian September 19th, 2009, 12:32 AM Well, I can sugest you to visit my photo gallery of Belgrade if you're interested what it looks like.

Razumes sada?
Verso September 19th, 2009, 01:06 AM Sure I get it, but did you count them all alone? I guess you read it somewhere; where?
Bogdan BMB September 28th, 2009, 11:26 PM Chupavi make here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=787462) a very good presentation of the city
I was in Belgrade this year. It is a very nice and interesting city
To stay in the area, I choose the next city Dubrovnik
David von Muerte September 30th, 2009, 05:48 PM There are very few votes, so I put the three cities
2nd week: Madrid, Stockholm and Dubrovnik

I never visit this part of the forum, but I accidently saw the name of your thread in the main page.
The idea is very good. I think it was a mistake to put all three cities. You could make a schedule for all of the capital cities and then simply go one after another. It doesn't really matter which city will come out earlier or later, the most important is that all of them will.

Bogdan BMB October 1st, 2009, 09:42 AM ^^ It is a very clean city, beautiful but small. Not much to do there more than one day. :(
