renell May 13th, 2004, 04:10 PM doubt they'll be moving. rich folks have enough money to buy two, three, four houses. pau_p1 May 14th, 2004, 08:43 AM that was a very nice panoramic view of Makati.... yeah I too think that it would be doubtful... one thing is Ayala Land would need to pay at least 5M per house to ask them to leave... plus.. if the squatters are hard to push away... what more for these rich men... :D ronnaveth May 14th, 2004, 12:29 PM oo nga, medyo lumang luma na yung mga bahay sa mga subdivisions ng makati. there are some which are for sale though but i think there are no buyers cause of the high price considering you're going to live at a 60's designed bungalow ryanr May 14th, 2004, 03:00 PM @ renell - hehe, you said exactly what i said:D i agree with pau, if the squatters are hard to relocate, mas lalo na ang mga mayaman. yeah, those houses are old. Especially the ones in Urdaneta Village. Forbes Park and Dasmarinas have some newer, more modern mansions, so thats good. bagel May 14th, 2004, 05:09 PM Do you know that when the flyover to Rockwell from EDSA was built, many people in... Urdaneta is it? were bought out of their houses? They were each given several million for their houses and promised units in one of the buildings in Rockwell. So my friends, it is possible for them to be bought out. As long as the compensation is an offer they'd be dumb to refuse. renell May 14th, 2004, 07:07 PM i doubt that Ayala will be inviting those rich folks into their high-rise apartments anytime soon. Salcedo and Legaspi still has good lots, or maybe they gonna demolish some old buildings to make way for more scrapers. renell May 14th, 2004, 08:25 PM http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pea009a52bd7ffa402540625ab09a532d/f8bfa766.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/ped2894285718980406695abb5c365860/f8bfa76a.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p8d9168f553127fda0d6b1b7d00e20a41/f8bfa773.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pe5b62218048dd56263e635636ce25184/f8bfa779.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p16162c9d7b6cd6e26022d97df9cd57fc/f8bfaaa4.jpg bagel May 14th, 2004, 08:45 PM So cool Renell. RCBC has no bad angles. Howabout this angle? Number 2 of my cemetery series. http://www.geocities.com/mikerasalan/philippines03/cemeterypicsmaller.txt renell May 14th, 2004, 08:50 PM they all cool, mike. though GT's back side is dull for me. that's why RCBC has that small edge;) Francis20 May 15th, 2004, 01:56 PM Enterprise has once again lighted up...it looks like this way http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid103/p2a6c33a3a6749898139b9fd7e0d0d9e0/f9aea9c2.jpg renell May 15th, 2004, 03:56 PM i saw that when i was there... looks cool. but from the ground the CBD is dark and dull... though still safe but when you cross the Ayala-Makati intersection, boom, it lights up again ryanr May 17th, 2004, 02:26 PM huh? i dont get what you're talking about...hehe @ Francis - Nice picture of Enterprise. They should keep those lights turned on every night. Does LKG's helipad still light up? How about Pacific Plaza in BGC? and OLP? All those buildings look great with their rooftops/helipads lighted up. renell May 17th, 2004, 05:20 PM i meant the Ayala Ave stretch from Buendia to Makati ave is dull and boring during the nights Francis20 May 17th, 2004, 11:53 PM @ GreyX.... here's my observations...(i hate calling it 'spying')...not necessarily what holds true. Enterprise has lighted up, i dunno since when, maybe since first week of May...during weekdays except weekends. LKGs helipad is always lighted up except when the facade has these all lighting stuff (which happens during holidays and Chinese NY) One Roxas top is always lighted up...no argument on that.i dunno the sked tho. Pacific Plaza's blue-purple helipad lights up during Fri, Sat and Sun...from 6 pm to 12 midnight. pau_p1 May 18th, 2004, 07:36 AM the other day... I passed by the corner of Buendia and Ayala and noticed that there is a construction going on on that old parking lot across the Yuchengco Tower... does anybody knows what is that being constructed?... anybody from that side of Makati? bagel May 18th, 2004, 07:44 AM That must be the new BPI Building that Queetz was writing about? That's my guess./ pau_p1 May 18th, 2004, 09:33 AM owww... ain't that a future BPI tower is supposed to replace the old BPI building at the corner of Ayala and Paseo de Roxas?... hmmm... SunKing May 18th, 2004, 10:49 AM Are you talking about the one near Makati Med? I may have seen something saying that that is to be an office building for an Ayala company. ryanr May 18th, 2004, 01:41 PM BPI is an Ayala company:D:D hehehe...That building u/c near makati med is a 5 storey IT building by Ayala, but we could still see the new BPI headquarters being built there in the future. Pau - no, BPI will not tear down their building on Ayala cor. Paseo de Roxas. Their new hq is supposed to be in Gateway (Ayala cor. Buendia) ryanr May 18th, 2004, 01:42 PM Thanks, Francis...you've kept a close eye on those buildings:) SunKing May 18th, 2004, 02:50 PM Heh, I meant other than BPI. Yeah, it's the IT building. Francis20 May 18th, 2004, 11:55 PM why is GreyX thanking me? that's E-Services bldg, it's massive but only 5-storey high. soon to house People support call center. so they're moving out from Philamlife Tower (i read somewhere that Philamlife is 150m high)...when this building gets built. so it's a built to suit type. pau_p1 May 20th, 2004, 05:01 AM uhh... ok.. so it would only be a low-rise... hmm.. seems like it doesn't fit to be on that corner... It would be better if it were a high-rise to match with all the other buildings along that avenue.... GreyX... well.. I saw a plan in the skyscrapers.com about that proposed building.... well that might have been not updated then...;D renell May 20th, 2004, 10:07 AM we talked about this before. it could be a future site to a taller building. this 5 storey building could be "phase 1" Francis20 May 20th, 2004, 12:25 PM LOL @ Renell. Phase 1? Hopefully...or wishfully. but im starting to doubt it. renell May 20th, 2004, 12:29 PM LOL @ Renell. Phase 1? Hopefully...or wishfully. but im starting to doubt it. i'm feeling optimistic there's something taller to be built in this. usually the Ayala's don't waste their valuable land. ryanr May 20th, 2004, 12:29 PM I think it could be phase 1. It could easily be a podium of something taller or a 5 storey building next to a taller skyscraper. renell May 20th, 2004, 12:35 PM does Ayala Land Inc. have their own skyscraper? curious question... ryanr May 20th, 2004, 12:38 PM I dont think so. Their offices might either be in Ayala FGU or in Ayala Tower 1. Francis20 May 20th, 2004, 12:39 PM does Ayala Tower 1 count? plus tons of residential towers at Salcedo. GreyX, that's a thing to find out. but i think its negative. the columns were anchored too shallow for a tall tower. they haven't removed much soil from the site. renell May 20th, 2004, 12:41 PM ok.. Ayala Land could be building a skyscraper above that lot in the future.. just a guess... afterall, also the Ayala's are in charge of this building u/c. more pics http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pd8241532f96f82879906175e693ff0c2/f8bfaaae.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/peacdd73a930af2010fdd8c73f9a19deb/f8bfaab3.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pd826d8c7e18969524d9012a11f56bf08/f8bfaab9.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pb4dabeaf00706f8305301435dbfc7cdc/f8bfaabf.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p67170390aaee25becbb67d8e54e5d45a/f8bfaac5.jpg ryanr May 20th, 2004, 12:45 PM Ayala Tower One looks beautiful in all angles. I love its shape, and i love how each side is different. I still think that BPI will build a new skyscraper in Gateway. They are just waiting for the right time....waiting for the office market to boom.:) I dont think ALI (ayala land inc.) needs their own building as of now. Maybe sometime in the future, but Ayala has enough office buildings for them. renell May 20th, 2004, 12:47 PM but isn't the BPI building going to be across the street from GT? beside Jaka Tower? more pics http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pbf0b75ce7c6c183d9af290a196dd5e6d/f8bfaac8.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p98f559e87cd89f4b01fb8c943f1b50b4/f8bfaace.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p43bb947b9ffbd1ee4d5297ea07ddeb6d/f8bfb0b1.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p3576c7d6ca2e43164a45420f819ed7ff/f8bfb0b7.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pc087c14971827df40421a487d8e396ec/f8bfb0ba.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p78ebe3d0e7c52669b6d65c9b7c700a2e/f8bfb0be.jpg renell May 20th, 2004, 12:49 PM i'll just post all the rest so i can upload more for this weekend the best Petron Megaplaza and Salcedo Park Apartment pics i've seen imo:D http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pe245f8944eaa03e1a7b59acd33647ed6/f8bfb0c6.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p38ddff35151d2665a1247e2eba0597b5/f8bfb0cc.jpg weird sculpture or building in old Metrobank? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p56678958d4353118d45b615e7c5ecb9f/f8bfb0d0.jpg Somerset Salcedo http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/pb4755ebe9784b76a9d94d0fbf8b82772/f8bfb0d4.jpg ryanr May 20th, 2004, 12:58 PM Sweet pics!! I love this: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid115/p38ddff35151d2665a1247e2eba0597b5/f8bfb0cc.jpg No, the BPI building is supposed to be in front of RCBC, Ayala cor. Buendia. bagel May 20th, 2004, 12:59 PM What's the U/C on the left side of that picture with the crane? ryanr May 20th, 2004, 01:14 PM That would be Four Seasons Salcedo:) Do you have pics of it, renell?? Post it in its thread in the u/c forum:) renell May 20th, 2004, 01:21 PM That would be Four Seasons Salcedo:) Do you have pics of it, renell?? Post it in its thread in the u/c forum:) yeah, i have a month old pic of it:D i'll start uploading those u/c pics tomorrow. they are waaayyy due late ryanr May 20th, 2004, 01:29 PM Thats ok...at least its better than nothing. God job Renell, show us more... renell May 21st, 2004, 09:01 AM @greyx, in front of RCBC, ok... well isn't BPI ayala-owned anyways? let's talk about open lots for future skyscrapers? where are the best spots in the CBD? Francis20 May 21st, 2004, 09:18 AM BPI, yes, it's an Ayala Company. they have their office at ATO...but i see another one at Enterprise Tower 2. The then DBS signage on top of Tower 2 is now replaced by BPI signage. Open lot? the most strategic place for me is...within Ayala Triangle. there should really be something tall to rise from that area. pau_p1 May 21st, 2004, 09:46 AM let me post some that I took last week... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid117/p7661324a872d69d20f5a71b000abffee/f8989e58.jpg PBCom from Greenbelt Park http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid117/p229bbb84c35c3a236f49a1a191d6d569/f89bd56d.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid117/pdd4b86d76e16767016c5bf57d3c89cf6/f8989e51.jpg Greenbelt... madilim lang ata kuha ko... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid117/p06225aa8d1362ceaaa5f23f988ea32da/f8989e4d.jpg One Legaspi http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid117/p18b6ac441f867368cc22d0c1cce36368/f8989e4a.jpg Island Tower corner of Salcedo and Benavidez.. just at the back of our office http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid117/p78d19c4afd8d29c3947244df314c6360/f8989e43.jpg From the SM-Park Square 1 Bridge Francis20 May 21st, 2004, 11:45 AM wow! impressive pics. what cam did u use for those? from your CP? nice night pics. you should have taken those night shots using slower shutter speeds. im guessing the setting for those night pics are between 1 and 2 seconds. Wanna do it again? Francis20 May 24th, 2004, 12:05 AM it lights up that way every weekdays. but only on a limited time. about two hours at most. turns off at exactly 8:30 pm. pau_p1 May 24th, 2004, 05:25 AM ah, so it's residential? yup... it is residential... my ex-officemate inquired for a unit there last year... and its quite expensive... cityland is more practical to get a unit in Asia Tower instead... also Island Tower seemed poorly built Francis20 May 24th, 2004, 05:48 AM Asia tower is an Ayala Proj, right? pau_p1 May 24th, 2004, 07:30 AM i'm not sure... anyways... here are some of the other pictures I took since last week... LOL mhe-ann May 25th, 2004, 02:35 AM I like the first two pics more. :D ryanr May 25th, 2004, 01:25 PM Sweet!! Great construction updates:okay: renell May 25th, 2004, 04:09 PM nice! Greenbelt Radissons looks done, and ugly too :bash: i don't think it's occupied though... :S Francis20 May 26th, 2004, 04:05 PM its not yet occupied. Megaworld claims units were all gone. so is with Paseo Parkview Tower 1. Do you think they were honest in saying that? nothing's so special about Greenbelt Radissons tho. not so great amenities. Thunderflip May 26th, 2004, 04:18 PM One Legaspi seems to be unique while Radissons is a plain white building. ryanr May 26th, 2004, 04:25 PM  I agree...Greenbelt Radissons just has that tacky design thingy on the top, trying to look good. renell May 26th, 2004, 05:28 PM Paseo Parkplace looks finished and occupied. they have some commercial tenants too in the ground floor Francis20 May 26th, 2004, 06:04 PM renell, it's occupied, right. but few tenants at the moment. btw, it's Paseo ParkVIEW. :D i dunno where the name came from...it's not literally along Paseo. weirdo May 26th, 2004, 06:20 PM maybe because from there you have a view of a park in paseo? Francis20 May 27th, 2004, 06:32 AM so that will mean Eastwood Parkview will be overlooking a Park of Eastwood and Greenbelt Parkview, overlooking Greenbelt Park? Hehe...kidding! maybe they wanted the name to sound appealing as possible. renell May 27th, 2004, 05:13 PM well they wanted to make the place sound fancy. "park" is a popular name for most apartments. Salcedo Park Apartments is another Park name.. bagel May 27th, 2004, 05:28 PM Because Park is Krap spelled backwards. Bwahahahaha. pau_p1 May 28th, 2004, 03:05 PM WOWWW! i love those pics pau_p1! :D What camera did you take them with? I'm actually thinking of getting a digi-cam、but i'm not really sure which one to get. HELP! I used a Sony Cybershot DSC-P93 camera.... you can try to purchase it...or there is another Cybershot... which is slimmer... I forgot the model number... :D sorry if I wasn't able to reply at once... I went to Singapore the last 3 days... I took a lot of pictures... and maybe I'll post them in the Singapore forum.... or should I post it here?... :D renell May 28th, 2004, 05:46 PM hmm.. a lot of jet-setting pinoys here, lol. :D pau_p1 June 1st, 2004, 04:17 AM :D ryanr June 1st, 2004, 12:16 PM Post them in the Singapore forums...they will love them. I posted my pictures of Singapore (from my Feb. trip) and that thread is still alive:D weirdo June 2nd, 2004, 03:36 AM ayala avenue at night http://www.imagesphilippines.com/images/022304_105151.jpg mhe-ann June 2nd, 2004, 03:55 AM wowowowow! :applause: Love GT's neon lights...plus RCBC and LKG too. :) Edmundtanso June 2nd, 2004, 07:30 AM very nice night shot!!! pau_p1 June 2nd, 2004, 07:42 AM wow... that was nice! ryanr June 2nd, 2004, 08:27 AM :eek2::omg: Wow, that shot is amazing! One of the best! I love it, great find, weirdo It took so long for my cpu to load it, but its worth the wait:D ryanr June 2nd, 2004, 08:30 AM It even looks as if Jaka Tower has occupants because there are lights that are switched on (or are they reflected from GT?) Francis20 June 2nd, 2004, 10:48 AM nice pic really. ive seen the like of that during the Photomanila something at glorrieta. if u take photo from the very same location, you would notice a drastic change on RCBCs lighting. almost all floors are now lighted up. weirdo June 2nd, 2004, 10:57 AM i posted this one on the rate GT Intl Tower thread: http://www.imagesphilippines.com/images/022304_111608.jpg sorry it might take time to load again. but it's worth the wait i guarantee. mhe-ann June 2nd, 2004, 11:06 AM yeah, it's worth the wait. awesome pic. Simon June 2nd, 2004, 11:20 AM amazing~;) rico June 2nd, 2004, 12:10 PM amazing pictures weirdo. from where do you think those pictures were taken from? Francis20 June 2nd, 2004, 12:42 PM can i? probably among those wall of towers along Buendia. shutter speed seem to be at B-setting. you can't even see the lines of the tail/head lights of the vehicles. good job weido. do you think we can get a photo as good as that? ryanr June 2nd, 2004, 12:46 PM I love GT at night...So beautiful. Thanks for those pics, Weirdo. They are definitely worth the wait. Excellent!:okay: renell June 2nd, 2004, 04:07 PM wow.. superb  Jaka Tower is lighted up, it's definately no reflection, because you need glass to reflect, and last April, it was all concrete. unless that is, something happened during the past month. it looks like it's taken from the condo beside that AXA building. Skyland Plaza was it? Francis20 June 2nd, 2004, 07:00 PM i don't think it was taken past Buendia Ave...look at the leftmost bottom part. and yeah, why is Jaka lighted up? it doesn't light up that way in reality. or was it bec the cam setting is at slow shutter speeds? this setting would result to non-luminous objects light up more than normal. imo Edmundtanso June 2nd, 2004, 09:59 PM great photos, thanks for sharing them weirdo. yeah GT Tower is very prominent in the makati skyline due to the sharp angle on the day time and the light on the night time. when i arrived at NAIA 1 about midnight a month ago, the first building that i noticed was GT Tower. yeah, how come there are lights on JAKA tower? strange ryanr June 3rd, 2004, 05:42 AM @ renell, i dont think that is a very recent picture. According to vacancy reports, RCBC and GT should be well occupied so there should be more lights. I dont know why Jaka Tower is lighted up though. The building with AXA is Philippine Savings Bank (PSB) if im not mistaken. Francis20 June 3rd, 2004, 09:55 AM GreyX, PS Bank changed its name to AXA Bldg, several years ago. Jaka must be used as parking space. pau_p1 June 3rd, 2004, 11:43 AM hmmm.... if you will look into the picture more closely... it is modified.... at the upper right side of the picture..look on how the Enterprise towers are lighted... its not what it should look like... so I think that the source of this picture edited Jaka's lights and thus the other details of the pictures... http://www.imagesphilippines.com/images/022304_105151.jpg and if you look at the next one... you will see how Jaka really looked like... see the building at the right side of the picture? This is a close-up of GT from that same picture... http://www.imagesphilippines.com/images/022304_111608.jpg Francis20 June 3rd, 2004, 12:10 PM whats wrong with GT Pau. it lights up that way, doesn't it? i think there was nothing modified from Enterprise ligthing. ryanr June 3rd, 2004, 12:41 PM Pau is correct! I completely forgot that Jaka's side walls are bare walls, impossible to have lights showing. The first picture was clearly edited to make it seem like Jaka has occupants. There is nothing wrong with GT's lights. Pau was talking about Enterprise and Jaka. Francis20 June 3rd, 2004, 03:07 PM LOL, yeah right. i overlooked that. how did they do that? renell June 3rd, 2004, 04:01 PM hmm.. yeah, definately a modification. how'd they do that? pretty simple i reckon. they're a professional photo website ryanr June 3rd, 2004, 04:11 PM But why would they modify it? Just to make the skyline look better by putting lights in Jaka? Thats not really professional of them to do so. renell June 3rd, 2004, 04:17 PM yeah. maybe. to make the photo more attractive. and making makati more attractive too in the same time:D rico June 3rd, 2004, 04:36 PM it just gives us a preview of how makati would look like should they finish jaka tower... and it looks nice. renell June 3rd, 2004, 04:43 PM yep. and it's not even in full height. it'd be awesome if both sides of Ayala ave. had a couple scrapers per side ryanr June 3rd, 2004, 04:46 PM Yeah and its not at full height. They should either finish Jaka or tear it down for a new skyscraper. It would really look nice (even though it will block my view of GT from my condo). SKYLINEPIGEON June 3rd, 2004, 05:41 PM Pau is correct! I completely forgot that Jaka's side walls are bare walls, impossible to have lights showing. The first picture was clearly edited to make it seem like Jaka has occupants. There is nothing wrong with GT's lights. Pau was talking about Enterprise and Jaka. i believe the reason why they the picture was edited to make it appear that the jaka tower having lights showing is to enhance the picture and make it more brilliant for us to see without that "artificial" lights in jaka. the picture wouldnt be as awesome as it would seem to be rico June 3rd, 2004, 06:03 PM or maybe they can also build a tower next to jaka to cover jaka. must have been such an eyesore that's why they decided to edit the picture. hehehe. :D Francis20 June 3rd, 2004, 06:58 PM i can't believe there are a lot of tenants at GT. RCBC at present is more than 100% occupied. UN and Caltex has recently moved to the complex...they got hi-caliber tenants. but im guessing Citibank has equally prestigious tenants =D Edmundtanso June 3rd, 2004, 07:08 PM Makati & Mandaluyung Skyline http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/4787084-L.jpg http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/4787104-L.jpg Makati Skyline http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/4787087-L.jpg http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/5001330-L.jpg Metro Manila http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/5001325-L.jpg http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/5001326-L.jpg http://edmundtanso.smugmug.com/photos/5001327-L.jpg bagel June 3rd, 2004, 10:02 PM As much as I like retro, they really need to take Greenhills Shopping Center, tear it down and start over. Look at all that wasted space! Bravo, btw!!! These look like they were taken from one of those residential talls on Annapolis. Which one? Oh wait, I think these were from one of those buildings next to the OB Montessori, fronting the Club Filipino. :applause: Edmundtanso June 4th, 2004, 12:54 AM buybaha yeah....greenhills shopping center takes a huge space but if they start building high-rise building, i would lose the view from my dad's condo in Tiffany Mansion on eisenhower st. =) ryanr June 4th, 2004, 05:07 AM :eek2: Those are amazing, Edmund! So crisp and clear. Great job. Makati and Mandaluyong looks great from your view. Yeah Greenhills Commercial center looks really old. They should at least renovate it big time. (i know they did, but only in one section). Or tear it down for a new shopping center. I love going there to buy cheap clothing and other things...:D Gloria Maris is also there...really delicious!:D ryanr June 4th, 2004, 05:10 AM You obviously got a good seat in the plane for good aerial shots of MM during landing...:applause:  What camera did you use? weirdo June 4th, 2004, 06:59 AM wow. ang ganda ganda ng mga kuha mo. saludo kami sa iyo. pau_p1 June 4th, 2004, 07:20 AM wow... very nice pictures! :D mhe-ann June 4th, 2004, 08:32 AM  :applause: SunKing June 4th, 2004, 02:42 PM WOW! Edmund, those night shots should have been better if you used slower shutter speeds. Nice Manila Bay shot...next time, make your trip on an afternoon, so the photo would not be taken against the lights. :D Edmundtanso June 4th, 2004, 07:05 PM thanks you all! francis yeah, i didnt have a cable for my shutter, next time =) ryanr June 4th, 2004, 07:08 PM hehehe..Francis is now an expert in night time photography....but yeah he is right, would have been better if shutter speed was slower. Otherwise, top notch pics!:) ryanr June 4th, 2004, 07:10 PM Edmund, did you take pictures of Ortigas from your condo? If you did, please post them in the Ortigas thread...thanks. Edmundtanso June 4th, 2004, 08:13 PM sorry GreyX wasnt able to. because they lock the door to the rear from the rooftop. but i've seen the view of ortigas and it looks good from the condo! lumpia June 5th, 2004, 01:25 AM edmund we loooove u for taking those pics! Hawayano June 8th, 2004, 09:38 AM WOW! I'm new to this forum and was totally blown away by your aerial shots, Edmund! Honolulu can't hold even a birthday candle's worth of light to the MetroManila skyline. Thanks for making this a cool site that I can show off to the bobos and tangas here whose distorted perception of urban Filipino is limited to Laoag and its surrounding barrios! mhe-ann June 8th, 2004, 10:19 AM Welcome here Hawayano. :) Hawayano June 8th, 2004, 11:14 AM Welcome here Hawayano. :) Thanks very much; I'm really impressed by the level of awareness and concern shown by the people in this forum...what a welcome relief--especially since Manila's post-WWII urban planning has been predominated by so much haphazard growth. Addition: Now that I've seen all the pics in your web site, I'm totally jealous. My last trip in Manila, I only had 4 days left before my flight back to San Francisco. I spent almost 2 months in the Visayas region though. But the 4 days I had I got hijacked by relatives up north in Malolos. Of course I was happy to spend time with them but I also wanted to tour Metro-Manila/Makati/Intramuros and other places, etc, etc. I'll do that for sure the next time I come back. Also the people you were with seem to know where to take you. That's great! And I'm happy you enjoyed your visit to the Philippines! Next time you go there, try to visit Boracay Island! Makati has one of the best skyline in the world.. lets hope for more taller buildings in the future or coming years.. :) Lightspeed June 24th, 2004, 04:44 AM Aside from taller buildings, I hope the area in Makati that's devoted for such skyscrapers will also expand. The development of The Columns suggest an outward expansion of high-rises, beyond the traditional CBD area. There are also several new towers in Buendia. I wonder if new 'scrapers can still be built in the P.Burgos area where the Century Citadel Inn is located. That way, it can link up with the adjoining Rockwell development so there won't be a broken area between Makati and Rockwell. RURALboy June 25th, 2004, 03:16 PM can anyone make a thread "BATTLE of ASIAN CITIES CBDs", i'm sure Metro Manila's will wiped them all, specially MAKATI CBD! Makati could stand to be less Ayala Ave-centric. If you go down the streets behind Ayala, it's not so pretty. weirdo June 25th, 2004, 07:37 PM makati city in five years time will be dense with all these mediocre residentials. Virtute June 28th, 2004, 09:50 AM makati city in five years time will be dense with all these mediocre residentials. That's why I "WORK" in the US and one day "PLAY" in the Philippines! pau_p1 July 7th, 2004, 03:04 AM well... maybe.. the only filipinos in america that thinks the US rocks are the teenagers or those who are still dependent to their working parents...:D yeah... I think that life in the philippines is easier... when you go to the US you work work work... when you go to Japan you work work work... when you go to Singapore you work work work.... here in the philippines we are still living a lavish life where we can spend more time with friends and families... work environment is not as strict as those out there 'coz out there you need to compete toughly to go ahead.... plus there even when you're 75yrs old, you have to work to earn a living... while here at 65 you retire and wait for your pension... ronnaveth July 7th, 2004, 01:36 PM i have a suggestion....since we are putting threads whcih are not necessarily skyscrapers but in general the sights and scenes in the Philippines, why don't we make sets of threads featuring the beautiful subdivisions in the country Edmundtanso July 7th, 2004, 08:46 PM i agree with you guys.......
