oo nga, medyo lumang luma na yung mga bahay sa mga subdivisions ng makati. there are some which are for sale though but i think there are no buyers cause of the high price considering you're going to live at a 60's designed bungalow

yeah, those houses are old. Especially the ones in Urdaneta Village. Forbes Park and Dasmarinas have some newer, more modern mansions, so thats good.

Do you know that when the flyover to Rockwell from EDSA was built, many people in... Urdaneta is it? were bought out of their houses? They were each given several million for their houses and promised units in one of the buildings in Rockwell.

So my friends, it is possible for them to be bought out. As long as the compensation is an offer they'd be dumb to refuse.

i doubt that Ayala will be inviting those rich folks into their high-rise apartments anytime soon. Salcedo and Legaspi still has good lots, or maybe they gonna demolish some old buildings to make way for more scrapers.

here's my observations...(i hate calling it 'spying')...not necessarily what holds true.
Enterprise has lighted up, i dunno since when, maybe since first week of May...during weekdays except weekends.

LKGs helipad is always lighted up except when the facade has these all lighting stuff (which happens during holidays and Chinese NY)

One Roxas top is always lighted up...no argument on that.i dunno the sked tho.

Pacific Plaza's blue-purple helipad lights up during Fri, Sat and Sun...from 6 pm to 12 midnight.

the other day... I passed by the corner of Buendia and Ayala and noticed that there is a construction going on on that old parking lot across the Yuchengco Tower... does anybody knows what is that being constructed?... anybody from that side of Makati?

that's E-Services bldg, it's massive but only 5-storey high. soon to house People support call center. so they're moving out from Philamlife Tower (i read somewhere that Philamlife is 150m high)...when this building gets built. so it's a built to suit type.

I still think that BPI will build a new skyscraper in Gateway. They are just waiting for the right time....waiting for the office market to boom.:)

I dont think ALI (ayala land inc.) needs their own building as of now. Maybe sometime in the future, but Ayala has enough office buildings for them.

i'm using sony cybershot dsc-p93.... actually i used the night mode of the camera... so got it with a slow shutter....:D from the camera, the night shots looked clearer and more visible but i don't know why when I uploaded it.. it is not as bright... i'll try to modify them in photoshop...

i've been practicing the use of this cam 'cause i just bought for my singapore trip on tuesday...

its not yet occupied. Megaworld claims units were all gone. so is with Paseo Parkview Tower 1. Do you think they were honest in saying that? nothing's so special about Greenbelt Radissons tho. not so great amenities.

yeah GT Tower is very prominent in the makati skyline due to the sharp angle on the day time and the light on the night time. when i arrived at NAIA 1 about midnight a month ago, the first building that i noticed was GT Tower.

@ renell, i dont think that is a very recent picture. According to vacancy reports, RCBC and GT should be well occupied so there should be more lights. I dont know why Jaka Tower is lighted up though.

The building with AXA is Philippine Savings Bank (PSB) if im not mistaken.

GreyX, PS Bank changed its name to AXA Bldg, several years ago.
Jaka must be used as parking space.

hmmm.... if you will look into the picture more closely... it is modified.... at the upper right side of the picture..look on how the Enterprise towers are lighted... its not what it should look like... so I think that the source of this picture edited Jaka's lights and thus the other details of the pictures...

i believe the reason why they the picture was edited to make it appear that the jaka tower having lights showing is to enhance the picture and make it more brilliant for us to see without that "artificial" lights in jaka. the picture wouldnt be as awesome as it would seem to be

i can't believe there are a lot of tenants at GT. RCBC at present is more than 100% occupied. UN and Caltex has recently moved to the complex...they got hi-caliber tenants. but im guessing Citibank has equally prestigious tenants =D

I'm pretty sure it's Pio Del Pilar. Bonifacio wouldn't have been wearing a military uniform. Usually depicted with salakot rather than a sword.

I took the pics from a HP photosmart 812, nothing too fancy. I simply turned off the flash, set it somewhere flat on the building, and then hit the timer. That way, there would be no "light wiggle" when the actual picture was taken.

Now that I've seen all the pics in your web site, I'm totally jealous. My last trip in Manila, I only had 4 days left before my flight back to San Francisco. I spent almost 2 months in the Visayas region though. But the 4 days I had I got hijacked by relatives up north in Malolos. Of course I was happy to spend time with them but I also wanted to tour Metro-Manila/Makati/Intramuros and other places, etc, etc. I'll do that for sure the next time I come back.

Also the people you were with seem to know where to take you. That's great! And I'm happy you enjoyed your visit to the Philippines! Next time you go there, try to visit Boracay Island!

Top of the Citi is expensive...for me. But you got to see an awesome view of Metro Manila and Makati. Too bad u wont be able to see Enterprise and Petron MP.

i got a question. queetz said before Summit bldg was supposed to be a residential tower. well, it seems like theyve decided to use it as residential after it was erected. am i correct? because the tower looks like its really meant to be a residential....facade wise and lobby wise. its lobby is not so grand as an office tower.

The development of The Columns suggest an outward expansion of high-rises, beyond the traditional CBD area.

There are also several new towers in Buendia.

I wonder if new 'scrapers can still be built in the P.Burgos area where the Century Citadel Inn is located. That way, it can link up with the adjoining Rockwell development so there won't be a broken area between Makati and Rockwell.

where in the US are you based? i do agree with you. i could totally relate to what you were trying to point out. people here in the US mostly only have two things on their minds - work and home =( sad to say i am one of them but i am doing my best to get a better job or own business.

well... maybe.. the only filipinos in america that thinks the US rocks are the teenagers or those who are still dependent to their working parents...:D

yeah... I think that life in the philippines is easier... when you go to the US you work work work... when you go to Japan you work work work... when you go to Singapore you work work work.... here in the philippines we are still living a lavish life where we can spend more time with friends and families... work environment is not as strict as those out there 'coz out there you need to compete toughly to go ahead.... plus there even when you're 75yrs old, you have to work to earn a living... while here at 65 you retire and wait for your pension...

i have a suggestion....since we are putting threads whcih are not necessarily skyscrapers but in general the sights and scenes in the Philippines, why don't we make sets of threads featuring the beautiful subdivisions in the country

HEY MIXEDMIKE! your saying america rocks :bash: america sucks. the only reason why you hear filipinos here in the states say its nice in america cause they are stuck here with lots of debt like 30 yrs house payments cause they believe in the american propaganda the american dream. the american dream is slavery for the corporate .its nice to come to america just to earn n save then in 10 yrs go back home to pinas and have financial freedom. but if you believe in that american bull like buying a house ,car, etc you will be stuck here with the puti who will always sees you as a second citizen. all i can say about america that life here sucks. im just here for the money. 3 more yrs then i will be home again. no more taking bull from my white boss. can't wait to say adios to america :) .

huh? what did i say? are you guys talkin about my "SAN FRANCISCO, CALi rocks?" ok let me explain this.. i was born here in the united states and ive been here in California for 16 1/2 years. and im not saying america rocks.. i just wanna respresent the place where i was born. and thats California. and as most of guys know that im mostly european and white and im also part filipino (well my mom is)... sooo.. and im proud to be part filipino also... i cant really explain it.. but hope u guys get the point.

edmuntanso....before i was based in the mainland but now im here in kauai. it feels more like home here cause of the climate and 85% of the population in hawaii are asians. but im still going home to the philippines in the future maybe if things goes as plan in 3 yrs.

well its not just in the US. pinoys in belgium work their butts off to get a good living and a good life for their children. and im sure other pinoys in other countries do same

edmuntanso.....im a computer-techician....the pay here for a tech is about $16 an hr pretty much like in the mainland. its very windy here in the islands aside fr that the weather is much like in the philippines.

hey edmundtanso, the curved one is the insular life. i wasnt realy sure about the site of the old philamlife-if there was. insular meanwhile, is also considered a 'classic' in the cbd, coz its one of the first buildings that were put up there, cguro mga 60s pa. presently, those buildings that hav a grade A office space-meaning those w/ the most expensive rates are- the rcbc plaza (d bldg itself was even declared an IT zone by the DTI), enterprise (IT zone din), pbcom, philamlife, lkg, 6750 & d jg summit-m not sure of this 1. all are situated in ayala. parang wala sa buendia, but just remind me if i forgot one. hey, b4 i forget, to all urbanfanatics nga pala, u can read the weekly column of paulo alcazaren in the phil star every saturday, he tackles in his column, CITYSENSE, trivias about manila, cbd's, history & mga civic & classical structures in the phils., complete w/ pictures, u can even scan & post them here if u want.

The old Philamlife building is along UN Ave, in front of the Manila Pavilion. It has a theater.
