Politicians escaping their fresh-built corridors of small connivance and enormous words lounged in the alcoves of Muthaiga....Lion, elephant, buffalo, kudu - some dead a day, some dead for years - were revived again and shot again in copses of Wedgwood saucers, behind hillocks of table linen, or in jungles of swizzle sticks." Beryl Markam, West with the Night, 1942 Located in fourteen acres of tropical gardens, just ten minutes' drive from the city centre, the Muthaiga Country Club prides itself on offering Kenya's most comfortable and convenient club facilities. The main buildings, with their wooden floors and broad bluestone pillars, recall an age when upcountry Members would travel hundreds of miles to enjoy a hot bath and the Club staff's famous welcome. Today, with a younger and more cosmopolitan Membership, Muthaiga still retains an enduring aura of 'Olde Kenya'. The emphasis at the Muthaiga Club is always on personal comfort. In the large airy sitting rooms and reading rooms, you can relax with the latest international journals in the care of our attentive staff. You can walk in the lush gardens, among exotic palms and bright flowers, enjoy a game of bowls or croquet on the lawns, or swim in the large open-air pool. The pool area is ideal for younger children, with its own dining facilities and, naturally, a fully stocked bar. ^^ More Pictures... http://www.diplomaticgolf.org/images/Muthaiga-club.jpg http://www.diplomaticgolf.org/images/muthaiga-club2.jpg http://www.diplomaticgolf.org/images/muthaiga1b.jpg http://www.diplomaticgolf.org/images/muthaiga4c.jpg http://www.diplomaticgolf.org/images/muthaiga8b.jpg Kisumu Ndogo October 1st, 2009, 11:45 PM Githurai 44 http://www.willmarydevelopment.com/images/thika-road2.jpg Thika Rd. http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photos/medium/4089351.jpg Utalii Hotel http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:tU4y1Iny4OTvjM:http://www.maniagosafaris.com/africities/images/hotels/utalii_logo.gif http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/images/monday/nh_110509_utalii.jpg The country’s premier training centre for hospitality the Kenya Utalii College. desert burner October 6th, 2009, 04:35 PM Development Background to the Development. http://www.willmarydevelopment.com/images/house.jpg This development is aimed at filing the demand for property on the Northern side of Nairobi. Currently all new development is focusing on the Westlands, Langata, Riverside and Athi River areas of Nairobi. Therefore this is a unique development in this location. The development is the epicentre of the surrounding estates of Garden Estate, Ngumba and Zimmerman each with their own unique character. Its location is ideally situated to benefit from what these estates have to offer in terms of their access amenities and Public service institutions. Its close proximity to the Industrial estates and surrounding industries also make its location ideal. Future Infrastructure. http://www.willmarydevelopment.com/images/thika-road.jpg The above photo is of on going works at Githurai (4 kms from our site) With the Government proposals to upgrade Nairobi’s infrastructure and work already underway to widen and build new roads namely the Eastern by pass and the Northern by pass together with the expansion of the Thika road into a mega Highway the development will find itself uniquely situated. It will be the best connected location in Nairobi! Being a mere 30 mins away from Thika will make this a very easy commute. Enhancement of the Garden Estate road is already underway making it more accessible to the Kiambu Road. Plans are already at an advanced stage for the development of a Business park in the local area as well as for a large shopping mall both of which will service the local area and for those who wish to invest in these houses for rental purposes provide additional tenants. Its location and the local Area. http://www.willmarydevelopment.com/images/thika-road2.jpg The above photo is of Githurai (4 kms from our site) The development is situated along the Thika Road, less than 10 kms from the City centre. Access is easy to the estate from the Thika road via the existing Breweries, Ngumba access road. The Ruaraka Post office is less than 200 m away beside the Ruaraka telephone exchange. Kenya Data Networks newly laid high speed fiber optic cable passes along the property front and can be easily accessed by those who wish to do so. The Estate is directly opposite the former Nakumatt Thika Road ( A new Uchumi branch has now opened here in its stead )which will serve the requirements of the residents should they wish. In addition to this are many small retail outlets catering for various needs from Hardware to Mobile phones. The estate has several schools in close proximity to it, both Government and Private schools. The estate also is well situated in relation to several institutions of higher learning, USIU and Kenyatta University are within easy reach. Some of the cities famous hotels are in easy reach with the development being central to both the Safari Park Hotel and the Utallii Hotel. For those who wish to experience the traditional Kenyan lifestyle there are many quality restaurants in the neighborhood offering traditional Kenyan fare. The property is also within easy access to various places of worship having several denominations of Christian churches and the GSU Mosque within 2 minutes drive. The Development. http://www.willmarydevelopment.com/images/development.jpg The development as envisaged by ourselves is planned in several phases. The first phase is planned for 65 Townhouses on approx. 6 acres, each with a plinth area of 202 square meters. The property is to be fully serviced with Water, Electricity, Street lighting, Sewer and hard court roads. It is planned that after the completion of the Housing units that shopping center be constructed to cater for the needs of the residents and the surrounding community. In addition to the Shopping center it is proposed that a modern health clinic be built adjacent to the center. Already the site has a Petrol station on it and it is anticipated that this will also service the needs of the residents. http://www.willmarydevelopment.com/development.php ^^every part of Nairobi is now developing:cheers: Kisumu Ndogo October 24th, 2009, 03:22 PM http://www.coopertea.com/images/traffiic.gif http://www.coopertea.com/images/outside-nairobi.gif Kenguy November 25th, 2009, 10:35 PM Section of Willmary estate. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2754/4134369582_cf51512491_b.jpg Kenguy January 4th, 2010, 06:03 AM New industrial developments are popping up in Juja. The challenge there of course is that the existing infrastructure (water, sewer and roads) is not coping with developments. The houses, however tall they are, are 'designed' by foremen for 'maximum' number of houses per unit. Like the one below, the structure is unsound. The columns are not straight and adequate and let no man lie to you that the flat can withstand lateral forces like a particular wind gale or storm and earthquake of particular scale. The house does not have a lift despite the fact that it is more than 5 stories. To make matter worse, the owner has installed several tanks high above the ground in the top most floor level.
