كشف رئيس المؤسسة العامة لسكة الحديد المهندس عبد العزيز الحقيل أن المؤسسة تعمل على دراسة مشاريع مستقبلية منها مشروع ربط جدة بجازان وأبها بالطائف، مشيرا إلى أن هذا الجزء من المملكة يعتبر من أهم المناطق السياحية فيها، لوجود المواقع الأثرية مثل الأخدود وعدد من القلاع والمدن التاريخية.
وأوضح أن دراسة مثل هذا المشروع تنسجم مع التوجيهات السامية التي تؤكد على ضرورة أن تحظى كل مناطق المملكة بنصيب وافر من التنمية، بما يسهم في زيادة الرفاهية وخلق فرص عمل وتسهيل تنقل المواطنين والاستفادة من ذلك في تعزيز وتكامل البنية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية لعموم مناطق المملكة .
وأشار إلى أن الجهات المعنية تعد مخططا توسعيا لمنطقة عسير في المجال الاقتصادي متوقعا أن تنشأ مناطق صناعية في أبها وخميس مشيط ومناطق أخرى لتصل نسبة النمو في الإنتاج حتى العام 2015 إلى 9 في المائة و10.3 في المائة بين الأعوام 2015 ــ 2020 موضحا أن حصة المنطقة من الإنتاج الصناعي تصل حاليا إلى 7.5 في المائة، علما أنها تمتلك مخزونا من النيكل الخام يقدر بـ 2.7 مليون طن.
من جهة ثانية يواصل الائتلاف المنفذ لقطار الحرمين العمل على المشروع في جدة. وكشف مسؤول في الائتلاف لـ «عكاظ» عن بدء عملية جس التربة واختبارها في مسار القطار في منطقة المطار القديم والذي يمتد ليصل إلى مطار الملك عبد العزيز الدولي، وأشار إلى أن العمل يتواصل أيضا في المسار الذي يمتد من رابغ في اتجاه جدة عن طريق الصحراء.
وأوضح أن المشاريع العملاقة التي تنفذها الدولة تعكس قوة الاقتصاد السعودي وحرص القيادة على توفير سبل الرفاهية لمواطنيها وزوارها وضيوف الرحمن، مشددا على أن أية عقبات أو صعوبات تواجهها ستذلل من خلال عمل اللجنة المشكلة برئاسة وكيل وزارة النقل للطرق المهندس عبد الله المقبل، وعضوية كل من نائب رئيس المؤسسة العامة للخطوط الحديدية للشؤون الفنية المهندس علي القرني، ومديري النقل في منطقة مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة.
