Naah Khun chat, The bridge you have taken photos is the T bridge for Industrial Ring Road connecting Rama 3, Phra Padaeng (Suksawat and downtown Phrapadaeng), and Poochao Samingphrai togather ... since Rama 9 bridge has reached the traffic capacity Limit ... Not a part of Soutehrn Kanchanaphisek outer Ring Road whihs not born yet due to the fighting even after Ch Karnchang has won the bidding ... and the Collusion seems to plays around with SOuthern kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road even after quotign the lowest bid ... to creare the cost overrun later on ...

But according to the news I'v read, Ch Karnchang has won the highway part and the Ital-Thai has got a bridge contract...., So I'm little confused now..

Jerry send in these latest shots of the new bridge construction. Compare these to the ones taken a month ago--the v-shaped support on the far side of the river has gone up in just a month.

It seems to be coming along quite well. :)

Norconsult mega project takes shape

Draw a big cross on the map of Bangkok on the west bank of the Chao Phaya river. Put the North-South line in the middle between the river and the Outer Ring Road. This is the approximate location of Norconsult International's major highway and bridge project currently under construction.

The mega project includes 25 kilometres of three lane highway, 8 kilometres of bridges and flyovers, and five major intersections with the East-West going roads. It employs 4000 construction workers. And the whole project is scheduled to be completed only seven months from now by the end of August 2004.

The project will cost the Public Works Department a total of around 6 Billion Baht to construct, not including land acquisitions. This amount is finances 60 percent from Japan as a loan and 40 percent as pure government funds.

"We will complete the whole system by the end of March next year - so we have seven more months to go. We'll manage that if nothing special happens," says Project Manager Svein O. Kvaalen who is supervising the whole project.


"Intermediate Ring Road"

"Bangkok has an Inner Ring Road and an Outer Ring Road already. I guess this could be called a section of an Intermediate Ring Road," says Svein Kvaalen.

If you start from the North, Norconsult's road and bridge complex begins from Rattanathibet Road (Highway 302), which is the extension of Ngam Wong Wan on the West side of the Chao Phraya River. Having crossed the Phra Nang Klao Bridge, Norconsult's intersection will be located a few kilometres before you reach the Outer Ring Road.

Running South from this intersection parallel to the Outer Ring Road, the Norconsult highway will first intersect with Norconsult's own East West going highway which is part of the project. This East West road connects Norconsult's newly opened Rama 5 Bridge in Nonthaburi with the Outer Ring Road.

Further down the road it will intersect with the Borommaratchonni Road (Highway 341) going to Nakhon Pathom which is the extension from the Thonburi Bridge when coming from Rachawithi Road and crossing the river.

Finally, the highway will end in the South with an intersection with Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) leading to Nakhon Pathom which is accessed from the Bangkok side by crossing the Thaksin Bridge (from Sathorn Road across the river).

"We finished the first phase of the project in April this year," says Svein Kvaalen. That was the Rama 5 Bridge across the river and the down to Klong Bangkok Noi.


Believe it or not..

As if this as not impressive enough, Norconsult is further to the South, but not directly linked to the highway complex described above, building a unique double bridge complex with an engineering solution which is not seen anywhere else in the world.

First, the bridge will be 50 meters high to allow for ships coming up the Chao Phaya River to access Bangkok's Klong Toey harbour. Next, it will span the Chao Phraya River twice without touching down on the ground in between, because of the meandering flow of the River on its way to the Gulf of Siam. And last, but not least, 50 meters up there in mid air, in between the two bridges, an intersection will be build for motorists going North instead of crossing the second of the two bridges!

"We had to design it this way, because the strip of land between the two parts of the river is so narrow. It is simply not possible to touch down on the ground to construct a normal intersection," Mr. Kvaalen explains.

The construction of this part of the project has just started. When completed, it will be part of the coming Industrial Ring Road connecting Samut Prakarn on the East side of the river with Phra Pradaeng on the West side of the river.


Seven bridges

Norconsult has designed a total of seven bridges spanning the Chao Phraya. The very first one was the New Memorial Bridge, "Pra Pok Klao", completed around twenty years ago. The company started working in Thailand in 1979 as the leading consultants on this bridge.

Next came the Krungthon Bridge in 1996 and then the Krungthep Bridge or Rama 3 Bridge, completed in 1999. This year, the Rama 5 bridge was completed in April. North of this, Norconsult has designed and proposed yet another bridge, but it is uncertain whether this will in fact ever be constructed.

Finally, in the South there is the special double bridge project which has just commenced construction to be completed in about three years. The last one is a proposed crossing far North of Bangkok further towards Auytthaya.

The start of the current project goes all the way back to the early 1990's when Norconsult was contracted by the Public Works Department (PWD) to design the complex. Already at that time, Norconsult had partnered in Thailand with their current partners, TEAM, Span and MAA, all civil engineering companies in Thailand with different areas of expertise.

Then there was a re-design of the project in 1997, but before the go ahead order came from PWD, the economic crisis hit Thailand and the project was frozen until in April 2001 the construction could finally get started.

Four different contractor groups are working on each their section of the project. This is where the majority of the 4000 people working on the project are employed. To manage and coordinate the contractors, there are four Thai, resident engineers with each their control teams totalling about eighty people. And to control these teams, there is Svein Kvaalen with his team.


Demanding task

"Supervising a project this size is quite a demanding task although all meetings are conducted in English," Svein Kvaalen readily admits.

"Along the way on projects like this there will always be discussions whether something should be calculated as an extra cost or considered included in the contract. Just like there will always be modifications on this kind of a project as it progresses even if the original design has been done in great details."

"Our meetings deal not only with technical questions but also with cost issues. The construction cost is based on a unit price - not a lump sum - so if something has to be added, the costs need to be assessed as well," he says, adding that as the contractors are all very professional, he could never dream of just telling a contractor to do it his way.

Owner of the project is the Public Works Department (PWD). The supervision group comprising Norconsult International and the Thai companies MAA, Span and Team Consulting and Management have their contracts directly with the PWD. This is also the case with the four contracting companies:

- Italian Thai together with Sumitumo
- Ch. Karn Chang together with Obayashi
- Unique together with Kajima
- CMS Construction in a group without foreigners

"So if a conflict should erupt, the final decision would rest with PWD," Kvaalen says, adding that the cooperation among the contractors has so far been quite smooth.


Nine years in China

Svein Kvaalen has been leading the project since the construction phase started in 2001 one and a half year ago. Before that, he worked for Norconsult in China for nine years since 1991. And prior to that, he was the Head of Norconsult's hydro power division since 1987.

"Over the years many people have asked me if I liked it in China," he says.
"But the answer is that I wouldn't have stayed there for nine years if I did not like it."

So how does he find life in Thailand?
"The best word is 'amazing'," he says
"I first came to Thailand in 1982. Since then, it has been numerous visits from a few days to a few months, before I came in 2001 to the project."
"I have never been out of Bangkok, always busy with work. If Thailand is Bangkok, I am not sure I like it, but I am pretty sure that Thailand is not Bangkok, but what it is, I do not know. Therefore my feelings for Thailand at this point has not reached longer than that it astonishes me, surprises me, amazes me all the time!"

nice story of Bangkok bridges. these bridges will certainly help ease the traffic.

Krungthon Bride has been opened in 1957 whiel Krungthep Bridge has been opened in 1959 ... Therefore, Norconsult is just help Public WOrk Dept to restore krungthonburi Brudge and Krung thep bridge to be servicable after heavy traffic wich cause both bridge to deteriorated conditions.

The bridge is just next to my new house. Should be beautiful huge bridge!

Project Description

Design and construction of a cable-stayed bridge across the Chao Phraya River at the southern portion of the Outer Bangkok Ring Road -- a 35-kilometer (21.7-mile) intercity motorway that will complete the motorway system serving the Bangkok metropolitan area. The bridge carries four traffic lanes in each direction.

The total length of the cable-stayed spans is 941 meters (3,087 feet), with the main span at 500 meters (1,640 feet) and the two side spans at 220.5 meters (723.4 feet) each. The total width of the cable-stayed spans, including the edge girders, is 36.7 meters (120.4 feet); the width of the right-of-way is 80 meters (262.4 feet).

The bridge has two A-shaped towers, each 187.6 meters (615.5 feet) tall, located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The tower design is a combination of traditional Thai and contemporary architecture.

If you looked cloasedly, you'll see Lad Pho shortcut canal dug in the year AD 1728 ... this Lad Pho canal had been virtually filled updurign the reign of King Rama I to prevent saline water from the sea to ruin the orchards of the people ... and Lad Luang shorcut canal in 1815 ...

Now, His majesty has asked the contractors to widen and deepen Lad Pho shortcut canal again to make a shortcut fo Chao Phraya Express ... and creat the public park alogn the canal ....

การทางพิเศษแห่งประเทศไทย (กทพ.) กระทรวงคมนาคม อยู่ระหว่างการก่อสร้างโครงการทางพิเศษสายบางพลี-สุขสวัสดิ์ ซึ่งเป็นช่วงสุดท้ายของถนนกาญจนาภิเษกด้านใต้ มีระยะทาง 22.49 กิโลเมตร โดยได้เริ่มก่อสร้างมาตั้งแต่วันที่ 23 สิงหาคม 2547 มีความก้าวหน้าทั้งโครงการ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 13.660 และในส่วนของสะพานขึงข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ได้ก่อสร้างฐานรากของเสาสะพานทั้งฝั่งตะวันออก และฝั่งตะวันตกเสร็จแล้ว ขณะนี้อยู่ระหว่างการก่อสร้างโครงสร้างส่วนล่างของเสาสะพาน (LOWER LEG) และในส่วนโครงสร้างอื่น ๆ ได้มีงานเหล็กเสริมคอนกรีต พร้อมทั้งเทคอนกรีตฐานรากและเสาแล้วเสร็จบางส่วน โดยโครงการฯ มีกำหนดแล้วเสร็จและเปิดให้บริการในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2550

the industrial ring road bridge (NOT southern ring road bridge) is a royally initiated project. the bridge is part of the industrial ring road project.

both projects are 2 DIFFERENT projects although eventually they will be linked once both these projects are completed

the industrial ring road bridge project is carried out by the Department of Rural Roads and is not tolled (free for motorists)

the southern ring road project is carried out by the Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority (ETA) and is tolled (motorists have to pay) just like the eastern ring road.

But Isnt Southern Ring Road is PART of the Industrial Ring Road that included Northern+Southern Ring Road..........?

จากการที่ผมไปลุยสนามเมื่อวันอาทิตย์นี้ทำให้ผมได้ คำตอบว่ามุมที่วิเศษที่สุดที่ใช้สำหรับยิงกล้องดูสะพาน 3 แฉก ก็คือ ยอดตึก SV City ย่านพระราม 3

แต่การขึ้นดาดฟ้ายอดตึก SV City นั้นต้องได้รับอนุญาตจากเจ้าของตึกก่อน ไม่ใช้ว่าใครๆจะขึ้นได้น่อ งานนี้พวกเราจะขึ้นไปก็ต้องทำหนังสือขออนุญาต เจ้าของตึก (บริษัทสหวิริยา) นะครับ

เออ, ตอนลุยสนามพบว่า ถ้าถ่ายจาก ตลาดนัดจตุจักรพระราม 3 ก็ได้มุมดีๆ มุมหนึ่งเทียวครับ แต่ถ้ายอมตะลุยไปถึงตัวเมืองพระประแดงแล้วถ่ายภาพสะพานวิเศษที่ท่าน้ำพระประแดงบนเรือข้ามฟากไปปู่เจ้าสมิงพราย ก็จะได้ภาพที่วิเศษไปอีกแบบ

ยิ่งถ้าต่อรถมอเตอร์ไซค์ 15 บาท จากท่าน้ำพระประแดง ไปตรงคลองลัดโพธิ์ ก็ยิงได้มุมที่วิเศษเข้าไปอีก เพราะเป็นจุดที่มีทางต่างระดับตัดกันพอดี และเห็นตึก SV City พร้อมประตูน้ำ และ จตุจักรพระราม 3 ในฟากหนึ่ง และ เห็นบรรดาเรือขนตู้คอนเทนเนอร์เข้าท่าเรือคลองเตยในอีกฟากหนึ่ง ....

ที่พูดได้เต็มปากเต็มคำขนาดนี้ก็เพราะไปมาเองแล้ว และได้ยิงกล้องมาแล้ว ด้วย :runaway:

BTW, when I talk with a cab when I went from rama 3 (New Chatuchak Market at Rama 3 Road), a cab said that Lots of Korean contractors are runnign aorudn thecontruction sites of that bridge and make a shopping at Big C Ratboorana... which is not a surprice to me at all despite of the fact that the lists of contrtactors are Japanese firms, except the local contractor of STECON.

STECON has subcontracted theri works to PYCON which is a shareholder of STECON so it is not a surprise after all that STECON DID employed so many Korean engineers. Hope that no crash between thsoe Korean engineers and Japanese contractors ....

OH, DID you know that there is somebody that keep skeaking to inspect on the construction of this Giant bridge ... The one that I prefer to call "Thunderbolt from the Heaven" ... The "Thunderbolt from the Heaven" always come to ionspect the construction site with ONLY single Guard .....

นายวิชาญ คุณากูลสวัสดิ์ รองอธิบดีกรมทางหลวงชนบท เปิดเผยความคืบหน้าการก่อสร้างโครงการถนน
วงแหวนอุตสาหกรรม มูลค่าโครงการรวม 8,700 ล้านบาท ว่า ขณะนี้โครงการมีความคืบหน้ามากแล้ว โดย
การก่อสร้างแบ่งเป็น 3 สัญญา คือ สัญญาที่ 1 ก่อสร้างสะพานขึงแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาทางด้านใต้เชื่อมระหว่าง
ตำบลทรงคนองกับตำบลบางหญ้าแพรก อำเภอพระประแดง จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ ขนาด 7 ช่องจราจร มี
การก่อสร้างเชิงลาด และชุมทางต่างระดับด้านใต้ บริเวณตำบลบางหญ้าแพรก และก่อสร้างถนนระดับพื้น
ดิน การก่อสร้างคืบหน้า 70% ขณะนี้ขึงสายเคเบิลสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาฝั่งพระประแดงแล้ว 10 คู่
จาก 15 คู่ ฝั่งปู่เจ้าสมิงพราย 10 คู่ จาก 15 คู่ สัญญาที่ 2 ก่อสร้างสะพานขึงข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาด้านเหนือ
เชื่อมระหว่างตำบลทรงคนอง อำเภอพระประแดง จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ กับแขวงบางโพงพาง เขตยาน
นาวา กรุงเทพฯ เป็นสะพานขึงขนาด 7 ช่องจราจร รวมก่อสร้างทางแยกที่ถนนพระราม 3 และก่อสร้างถนน
ที่ระดับพื้นดินตามแนวโครงการมีความคืบหน้า 76% ขณะนี้ขึงสายเคเบิลฝั่งพระประแดง แล้ว 6 คู่ ฝั่ง
พระราม 3 ขึงแล้ว 5 คู่ ทั้งนี้ ในการขึงสายเคเบิลจะแล้วเสร็จทั้งหมดในเดือน เม.ย.นี้

นายวิชาญ กล่าวต่อว่า ส่วนสัญญาที่ 3 ก่อสร้างทางด่วนระดับช่วงกลางระหว่างสัญญาที่ 1 และสัญญาที่
2 ใกล้คลองลัดโพธิ์ บนฝั่งอำเภอพระประแดงขนาดกว้าง 2 ช่องจราจร รวมพื้นที่ใต้ทางแยกต่างระดับส่วน
กลางในเขตบางกระเจ้า ที่จะทำเป็นสวนสาธารณะ ลานอเนกประสงค์ และพิพิธภัณฑ์ ก่อสร้างเชิงลาดและ
ทางยกระดับด้านตะวันตก ก่อสร้างทางแยกบริเวณถนนสุขสวัสดิ์บริเวณปากซอยสุขสวัสดิ์ 56 การก่อสร้าง
คืบหน้าถึง 80% แล้ว ทั้งนี้ได้กำหนดเปิดให้ใช้บริการทั้งโครงการได้ในวันที่ 5 ธ.ค.นี้ เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองในวัน
เฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวและเนื่องในวโรกาสที่ทรงครองราชย์ครบ 60 ปี
อย่างไรก็ตามสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาของโครงการนี้ จะเป็นสะพานที่สวยที่สุด โดยจะมีการติดตั้งไฟ
กะพริบเหมือนในต่างประเทศ ซึ่งจะดูสวยงามกว่าสะพานอื่นๆ ที่เปิดใช้ในขณะ

กรมทางหลวงชนบท กำหนดเปิดใช้สะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาอีก 2 แห่ง "วงแหวนอุตสาหกรรม-ห้าแยกปากเกร็ด" ดีเดย์ 5 ธันวาคมนี้ เผยโครงการมีประโยชน์ เสริมโครงข่ายการจราจรให้สมบูรณ์ เชื่อมระหว่างกรุงเทพฯกับพื้นที่จังหวัดใกล้เคียง เปิดพื้นที่ทำเลทองแห่งใหม่โซนตะวันตกและตะวันออก

แหล่งข่าวจากกรมทางหลวงชนบท เปิดเผย "ประชาชาติธุรกิจ" ว่า กรมได้กำหนดชัดเจนแล้วว่า ในวันที่ 5 ธันวาคมที่จะถึงนี้ จะเปิดใช้บริการสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา 2 แห่งพร้อมกัน คือ

1) โครงการสะพานบริเวณห้าแยกปากเกร็ด (สะพานพระราม 4) และ
2) โครงการสะพานวงแหวนอุตสาหกรรม (สะพานทีปังกรรัศมีโชติ)

ซึ่งทั้ง 2 โครงการ ปัจจุบันมีความคืบหน้าการก่อสร้างโดยรวมไปมากและใกล้จะแล้วเสร็จ
ตามกำหนดที่วางไว้ และมีบางส่วนที่ก่อสร้างเสร็จก่อนกำหนดก็มี

"โครงการห้าแยกปากเกร็ด จะเปิดให้บริการก่อนในสัญญาที่ 2 คือ
ช่วงถนนต่อเชื่อมจากถนนรัตนาธิเบศร์ มาเชื่อมกับถนนราชพฤกษ์ถึงสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ระยะทาง 9.47 กิโลเมตร ซึ่งขณะนี้ก่อสร้างไปแล้ว 92.94% จะเปิดช่วงวันที่ 8-9 เมษายนที่จะถึงนี้

ส่วนงานสัญญาที่ 1 งานสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา มาถึงฝั่งถนนแจ้งวัฒนะ ปัจจุบันคืบหน้า 69.07% มีกำหนดเปิดวันที่ 5 ธันวาคม ตามสัญญาส่วนนี้จะแล้วเสร็จในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2550 แต่จะเร่งให้เสร็จก่อน"

แหล่งข่าวกล่าวต่อว่า ส่วนโครงการวงแหวนอุตสาหกรรม ตอนนี้ความคืบหน้าการก่อสร้างโดยรวมอยู่ที่กว่า 70% ตามสัญญากำหนดแล้วเสร็จในเดือนกันยายนนี้ แต่กว่าจะตรวจรับงานก่อสร้างได้ อาจจะต้องใช้เวลา จึงกำหนดเปิดในวันเดียวไปพร้อมๆ กับโครงการสะพานห้าแยกปากเกร็ด

"ทั้ง 2 โครงการ เมื่อเปิดใช้จะทำให้โครงข่ายการเดินทางสมบูรณ์มากยิ่งขึ้นและเป็นการเปิดพื้นที่ฝั่งตะวันตกกับตะวันออก อย่างโครงการห้าแยกปากเกร็ด จะทำให้การเดินทางต่อเชื่อมไปยังถนนสาทรตัดใหม่ได้ เพราะโครงการต่อเชื่อมกับถนนราชพฤกษ์ โดยไม่ต้องขับรถเข้าไปในเมือง เป็นการระบายการจราจรได้อีกทางหนึ่ง และยังเป็นการเปิดพื้นที่ในบริเวณดังกล่าวให้มีการพัฒนามากขึ้น จะสังเกตว่าปัจจุบันนี้มีโครงการจัดสรรเข้าไปจับจองพื้นที่ว่างตามริมทางถนนต่อเชื่อมเป็นจำนวนมากแล้ว"

แหล่งข่าวกล่าวต่อว่า ส่วนโครงการวงแหวนอุตสาหกรรมนั้น ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็นการรองรับรถขนาดใหญ่ที่บรรทุกขนถ่ายและลำเลียงสินค้าจากท่าเรืองคลองเตยไปยังโรงงานอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆ ที่อยู่ในเขตอุตสาหกรรมพระประแดง และอุตสาหกรรมปู่เจ้าสมิงพราย บริเวณถนนสุขสวัสดิ์ ปู่เจ้าสมิงพราย พระราม 3 บางนา-ตราด และอาจจะเชื่อมต่อไปถึงสนามบินสุวรรณภูมิและจังหวัดใกล้เคียง เช่น ชลบุรี ระยอง เป็นต้น โดยไม่ต้องใช้เส้นทางเข้าไปในตัวเมือง

ด้วยการขึ้นทางด่วนเหมือนเช่นที่ผ่านมา และยังสามารถต่อเชื่อมกับโครงการมอเตอร์เวย์และโครงการวงแหวนรองนอก ได้อีกด้วย ทำให้การจราจรบนทางด่วนคล่องตัวมากขึ้น นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นการเสริมโครงข่ายถนนในเขตกรุงเทพฯและจังหวัดสมุทรปราการ

"โครงการนี้จะช่วยลดระยะทางและเวลาในการขนส่งสินค้าได้เป็นอย่างดี เพราะไม่ต้องวิ่งรถเข้าไปในเมือง ทำให้เกิดปัญหารถติด และยังเป็นการแก้ไขปัญหาการจราจรที่แออัดบริเวณปลายถนนปู่เจ้าสมิงพราย ถนนสุขสวัสดิ์ และไม่ต้องใช้แพขนานยนต์ข้ามฟาก ทำให้การขนส่งทำได้รวดเร็วและสะดวก" แหล่งข่าวกล่าว

แหล่งข่าวจากสำนักผังเมือง กรุงเทพมหานคร (กทม.) เปิดเผย "ประชาชาติธุรกิจ" ว่า เมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ กทม.ได้ออกข้อบัญญัติกรุงเทพมหานครว่าด้วยเรื่องกำหนดบริเวณห้ามก่อสร้าง ดัดแปลง ใช้หรือเปลี่ยนการใช้อาคารบางชนิดหรือบางประเภท โครงการถนน 2 สาย คือ 1.ริมถนนวงแหวนอุตสาหกรรมทั้งสองฟาก ตั้งแต่ช่วงถนนพระรามที่ 3 ไปทางทิศใต้จนจดแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ในท้องที่แขวงช่องนนทรี แขวงบางโพงพาง เขตยานนาวา และแขวงราษฎร์บูรณะ เขตราษฎร์บูรณะ

2.บริเวณริมถนนหลวงแพ่งทั้งสองฟาก ตั้งแต่คลองหัวตะเข้ไปทางทิศตะวันออก จนสุดเขต กทม.บริเวณคลองกาหลง อยู่ในพื้นที่แขวงทับยาว และแขวงขุมทอง เขตลาดกระบัง ในระยะ 15 เมตร จากริมถนนทั้งสองฟาก มีผลบังคับใช้เมื่อวันที่ 26 มกราคม 2549 ที่ผ่านมา หลังจากประกาศข้อบัญญัติดังกล่าวในราชกิจจานุเบกษาแล้ว

"ทั้ง 2 โครงการเป็นถนนตัดใหม่ที่กำลังจะก่อสร้างแล้วเสร็จ จึงต้องมีการออกมาตรการมาควบคุมการพัฒนา เพื่อความเป็นระเบียบเรียบร้อย รักษาคุณภาพสิ่งแวดล้อม อำนวยความสะดวกแก่การจราจร และควบคุมความหนาแน่นของอาคาร"

แหล่งข่าวกล่าวว่า โดยเฉพาะถนนหลวงแพ่ง ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นถนนสายสำคัญในพื้นที่ กทม.ฝั่งตะวันออก ซึ่งก่อสร้างขึ้นเพื่อรองรับการพัฒนาในเขตชานเมืองกรุงเทพฯและปริมณฑลในอนาคต เมื่อมีการเปิดใช้สนามบินสุวรรณภูมิ ถนนเส้นนี้จะเป็นเส้นทางหลักในการขนส่งและการเดินทางเข้าออกสนามบิน ปัจจุบันอยู่ระหว่างการก่อสร้างปรับปรุงขยายเขตทางของถนน ทำให้เกิดการพัฒนาการใช้ประโยชน์ที่ดินและอาคาร จากเดิมเป็นพื้นที่เกษตรกรรมและที่ว่าง แต่ขณะนี้มีการก่อสร้างอาคารประเภทต่างๆ เพิ่มมากขึ้น

ทั้งนี้ ในรายละเอียดของข้อบัญญัตินี้จะระบุไว้ชัดเจนว่า ห้ามมิให้มีการก่อสร้างอาคาร ประเภทต่างๆ ประกอบด้วย ห้องแถว ตึกแถว อาคารพาณิชย์ โรงมหรสพ โรงแรม ศูนย์การค้า คลังสินค้า โรงงานอุตสาหกรรม เต็นท์ เพิง หรือแผงลอย อาคารที่มีระยะห่างจากอาคารอื่นน้อยกว่า 4 เมตร อาคารที่มีระยะห่างจากเขตที่ดินน้อยกว่า 2 เมตร อาคารที่มีความสูงเกิน 15 เมตร ยกเว้นอาคารเพื่อประโยชน์เกี่ยวกับกิจการสาธารณูปโภค และอาคารที่มีพื้นที่รวมกันทุกชั้นในหลังเดียวกันเกิน 2,000 ตารางเมตร ยกเว้นอาคารเพื่อประโยชน์เกี่ยวกับกิจการสาธารณูปโภค

"สำหรับอาคารที่มีอยู่ก่อนที่ข้อบัญญัตินี้จะบังคับใช้ จะได้รับการยกเว้น แต่ห้ามมีการดัดแปลงหรือเปลี่ยนการใช้อาคารตามที่ได้ระบุไว้ รวมถึงอาคารที่อยู่ระหว่างการก่อสร้างด้วย" แหล่งข่าวกล่าว

The IRR industrial ring road project in Bangkok’s main industrial area with 13 km road connected by two 172 meters high bridges.

An industrial ring road is constructed to relieve the traffic congestion in Bangkok’s main industrial areas. This large Bangkok IRR project includes two 700 meters long, 172 meters high cable stayed bridges connecting 13 kilometers of ring road. Hydraulic systems are designed to move the heaviest 1200 tons formwork travelers in South East Asia.

THAILAND - the land of smiles, located in southeast Asia near the Andaman sea, home to 64 million Thai people. 11 million of those people live in the capital of Bangkok. With that many commuting and traveling everyday the traffic is chaotic and nightmarish for most.

There are many reasons for the environmental stress generated by modern urbanization. Around 400 – 600 vehicles are added to the streets of Bangkok everyday causing an ever increasing volume of traffic. This causes enormous traffic jams and subsequently a great deal of social and economic difficulties. Consequently the average travel speed in central Bangkok during peak hours is a mere 12 km/hr!

For allowing ships access to Bangkok’s harbour, the bridge deck of the intersection between the two cabled stayed bridges over the Chao Phraya River will be 50 m high.

Therefore to make it easier for local residents and visitors alike to travel inside Bangkok, the infrastructure promised by the government of Thailand has to be fully developed to deal with the increasing number of people. Though it would not seem plausible to many, in fact Bangkok was the first Southeast Asian city to propose plans to introduce a system for the reduction of traffic congestion. Incidentally, Thailand was only the third Asian country, after Japan and Hong Kong to propose such a system. There are already in place various ways that are meant to reduce traffic congestion. Many bridges exist both within the city and its outlying suburbs. In place there is also the sky train which services the city center. 2004 saw the MRTA’s Bangkok subway system start operating for the first time. In an effort to tackle Bangkok’s perpetual traffic problems the government has also committed to expanding the road and railway system through massive expenditure in the coming decade.

The idea for an industrial ring road system was originally put forward by his Majesty the King, in order to relieve the traffic congestion for the areas of Bangkok Port, Poochao Saming Phrai Road and Suksawat Road which are the main industrial areas. The details and logistics involved in carrying out a project of this size in the city has been laid out including the purchase of land and property, demolition of 881 residences and factories, the construction of bridges and roads through swampy and river flooded areas and the re-routing of river ferry services and industrial traffic. The project involves two cable stayed bridges. The bridges are 702m long and 172m high and 582m long and 162m high respectively on concrete pylons. There are 3500 meters of approach bridges, 500 meters of high-level road and 9,1 km of graded road. For this mega project the worlds largest Movable Scaffolding System (MSS) has been commissioned. The contractors for the construction of the bridge for the industrial Ring Road area of which 20% is done, are TNNS joint venture (Tai Sei + Nishimatsu + NKK + Sino Thai) and KTU consortium ( Kajima – Tokyo – Unique Engineering).

More impressive still is that this unique double bridge complex is built with and uses engineering solution unseen anywhere else in the world! For allowing ships access to Bangkok’s Klong Toey harbour coming up from the Chao Phraya River, the bridge will be 50 m high. Also due to the snaking course of the river on its way to the gulf of Thailand, the bridge will cross the Chao Phraya River not once but twice without touching the ground. Finally in mid air a full 50 meters up, an intersection between the two bridges will be built. This will allow motorists to go north without crossing the second bridge! The reason for this design is because the strip of land between parts of the river is incredibly narrow, making it impossible to construct a normal intersection.

Construction of this section of the project has just become underway and when finished will be part of the Industrial Ring Road connecting Samut Prakarn from the rivers east side to Phra Pradaeng on the rivers west side. Not including the cost of acquiring land, the projects construction will cost the Public Works Department a total of approximately 6 Billion Baht or $145 million U.S. dollars. Of this vast figure 60 percent is financed from Japan as a loan, while the remaining 40 percent is from local government funds.

This project is owned by the Public Works Department (PWD). The sections are divided into 3 contracts which are being worked on by two different contractor groups.

Both contracts number 1 and number 2 are for the Northern and Southern bridges and are being done by TNNS joint ventures. (Taisei / NKK Corporation / Nishimatsu and Sino Thai Construction)

While contract number 3 for the Western elevated interchange entrance and exits is being done by KTU joint ventures. (Tokyo Construction / Kajima and Unique Engineering)

Behind the movement of such huge steel structures safely and efficiently high overhead, plus steering and positioning; possibly the heaviest 1200 tons Formwork Traveler in South East Asia, heavy-duty hydraulics had to be engaged.

With a proven track record for safety and reliability, Enerpac was chosen by main contractor, Taisei to design and supply the hydraulic systems to be integrated in the movable scaffolding system. The typical formwork arrangement requires 2 custom-built 7,5 kW low pressure hydraulic power units to actuate 24 pieces of 100 tons horizontal and 60 pieces vertical cylinders complete with clevis eye and mounting attachments to allow formwork pushing and pulling operations. On the 700 bar high pressure side, 4 pieces of specially designed Enerpac – CLL-25010, 250 tons capacity lock-nut jacks coupled with 2 units of standard RRH-6010 Hollow center jacks provide lifting, lowering and tensioning forces respectively on the main support of the formwork.

While on the (MSS) Movable Scaffolding System, a large quantity of different sets and sizes of integrated high and low pressure hydraulic pumps & cylinders provided solutions for various applications such as vertical nose adjustment, longitudinal & side launching as well as bottom slab folding plus rolling wagon operations. Just to name a few of its applications within it's intricate system. In one instance alone, 72 units of 50 tons low-pressure cylinders are used on the External formwork's vertical adjustment.

Bridge for the Kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road (southern section)

This bridge crosses the Choa Phraya River to complete the existing ring road loop. This smaller bridge is part of the Kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road (southern section). Thus far, the southern section of Kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road runs from Bang Bon Interchange to Suksawat Road. The Highway Department is trying to find a contractor for the bridge and the rest of Kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road. All of the following drawings and maps are from a Ministry of Transport and Communications display at the Intertraffic Asia 2002 convention (June 12-14, 2002). This bridge would simply cross the Chao Phraya River. Since the larger bridge for the Industrial Ring Road would effectively allow vehicles to cross the Chao Phraya River south of the city (without entering the city), 2b wonders if this bridge will be built at all.

I think this one looks the best from all BKK's and of course Thailand's bridges.
The currents bridges we already have are somehow looks not as beautiful and attractive as they could be.
I think thailand and all construction firms are supposed to pay more attention on architecture and landscape design on any up coming projects (well...maybe except for new airport and some skyscrapers :) ).
Look at what malaysia, HK, SK and Japan have.

Well, This Bridge has been FUNDED by JBIC, so the the Flag of Rising sun (Hinomaru) is NOT a surprise at all .... :-)

However, the yellow Maharaja Flag is also anotehr impoortant sign in addition to Trairong flag .... since this project is a part of ROyal Project...

Sometime His Majesty has sneaked into the Construiction site along with a Royal Guard .... This has Surprised the workers, engineers and even managers of the project .....
