Already under construction on the Pacific Hwy, St Leonards with Baulderstone Hornibrook cranes on site for both the west tower (18 levels above ground) and the lower east tower (10 levels). 9 floors above ground for the connection between the west and east towers. The cores for both the west and east towers are well underway.

BTW Out of the total number of the Abode apartments which is 190 in the west tower, east tower and middle section, 90 apartments have already been sold; or at least commited to with deposits.

:okay:

That is one very small lift core. How tall do you think it is at present?

Like The Quadrant on Broadway, which is also being constructed by Baulderstone Hornibrook, this complex is going full steam ahead.

I believe at least 20 more apartments have been commited to since last enquiring.

On my architectural walk in St Leonards yesterday, I counted that both the Abode residential blocks, fronting both The Pacific Hwy and Albany St have their floorplates up to level 8 each.

Also, both the cores up to about level 11.

The tower fronting The Pacific Hwy will be 18 levels above ground and the tower fronting Albany St will be 11 levels above ground.

Out of the 190 apartments in both towers, 80 have already been pre-comitted.

Anticipated completion for the whole complex is December, 2003.

Coca-Cola has just leased a 4 floors in Christie St, St Leonards for its new National Call Centre - which will bring in another 250 people into the area ! ( man, the offices are SCHMICK !)

Hey Museumboy, have you been down to Atkinson St ? I have no idea where that is but a mate of mine works there and said it is "going off" with construction.
I must get down there and take a descent look around one day- going to another live taping of "The Fat" at ABC Gore Hill this Friday night so I will try to go for a wander around beforehand......

I lied lol. I visited the sales office again and found out that the higher tower will actually be 20 levels above ground level - the 2 lowest floors will be for commercial use and the 18 levels above will be the apartment floors.

In regard to the Albany Street tower, it will be 12, not 11 floors above ground. Once again, the 2 lowest floors will be for commercial use and its top 10 will be the apartment levels.

:master: Forgive me for fibbing :master: .

You can fib all you like museumb, as long as the truth means more floors than your fib! :)

I might have to talk a photographic walk up at St Leonards. Last week I "stumbled" around there at night after a few drinks at Crows Nest going "phoarr.....I gotta take photos of these babies!" :)

This part of Sydney has to be one of the nicest looking there is. The glass office buildings and recreation areas beside the hospital compliment the quality residential buildings going in.

can someone tell me if this is Abode UC? I took it today from Pyrmont Bridge! It really has an impact on the St Leonards skyline.

Yep, that's Abode! I've started working in St.Leonards two days a week, so I get frequent up-close inspection of the place! ;)

I think that's the core of the second tower that you can see poking up above another building, just to the right of the crane, so if that's 12 storeys, and the main tower is 20 storeys, then it should top out around the same height as the IBM (formerly Motorola) Tower - with the similar design they'll look a bit like twins!

I passed by the site last Friday and noticed that windows are already being fitted to the lower floors and the concrete being painted white.....durable paint we would hope :) (maybe it's an undercoat) .... as you can see in Tony P's 2nd last construction pic.

This view is from the south-west, so that is the direction the curved wall will face:

Abode's curved side faces south/southwest.

You get the impression that it faces North because you associate it with being on the Pacific Highway which goes to the north, but where Abode is, the highways goes west-south-west (i.e, slightly south of due west) so the curve is definately in a south/southwest direction.

Very confusing, eh?! :?

It looks similar in style to its next door neighbour the IBM building. I went through there yesterday and the area is fast filling up with new towers. Very impressive approach as you come up the Pacific Hwy on the way to Nth Sydney ........

Today I passed the Abode construction site and counted the number of floors already u/c which totalled 14 floors above ground with a concreted core about 5 storeys tall. The total number of floors in the main tower (considered the western tower) is 21 levels which includes the plant levels @ the top:

__________http://www.theabode.com.au/live/images/exteriors/exterior01.jpg

The 9 storey connection and the 12 storey Albany Street tower is nearing completion. Here is a rendering from Pole Lane:

___http://www.theabode.com.au/live/images/exteriors/exterior03.jpg

***Out of the 200 apartments in the whole complex, only about 70 are left i.e. almost 2/3rds left.

Below are 2 pics I took yesterday of Abode's construction, already 17 levels above ground with the wire screen ready in place to start construction on level 18. Abode wiil be 21 levels above ground which includes the plant levels @ the top. So 4 more levels to go.

Both 601 Pacific HWY will be very similar in their 'curved-in-form-edifices'. They will compliment each other well :okay:

Great angle on that first pic, museumb showing the twin tower effect :okay: In the second photo it looks like the two towers are fused, again showing similarity! Great eye :)! Those photos show that it will certainly blend in well with the Motorola building.

St Leonards is certainly becoming a 'white tower brigade'! Bring it on!

If anyone wants to view them in the inteded size (i.e, larger), copy the address into a new window and deleted the " -med " out of it. :)

Abode in final construction mode. I remember the first time I noticed this site was a weekend when there were no trains on the North Shore Line. I had to get a bus from Chatswood to the City and because of this I noticed Abode because the bus went straight passed it. It was only at Level 3 at the time.
