Is there a reason why the Piccadilly Theatre in Hamra isn't renovated?

This is the first time is see photo of the interior.

My Dad went to the Piccadilly Theatre a number of times before the war. Always told me it's very nice from the inside and these pictures show it.

I went there before and during the war. It was a bit kitch...
In 1978, while watching "L'aile ou la cuisse" I was going to be crushed due to a stampede because some idiot started a fire with his cigarette.I was the last time in 1983 for Maxime Le Forestier concert.

My father used to go to Silhouette Gym. There was a 20's Ford T (abou da3seh) in the undergroud garage that was used in Feyrouz shows, also that Ford was at the entrance of the Theater when Dallida came for the last time in January 1975. The Piccadilly belonged to the Itani Brothers, who owned the Marignan and the wimpy Movempick café across the street from the Piccadilly.

Wow what beautiful pics, especially the black and white!

I've passed by Picadilly a million times and never realized what was inside. It's weird because the sign from the outside looks untouched by the war--was it restored? The theater itself also looks to be in pretty good shape compared others...

Kheireddine, do you have any memories/photos of the Grand Theatre? Would love for you to share some if possible. I recently sneaked inside and took a lot of photos and posted to my blog...
