da_scotty November 12th, 2009, 08:11 PM After seeing these pictures, I have to say that the American Road quality is something to be scared of, we say something about Belgium, but this is really pathetic

They're already up, I was poking around in several Mexico City area neighborhoods last night. Looks like nearly complete coverage of their respective urbanized areas, too (Cancun, Guadalajara, Mexico City and suburbs, Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta).

Most are ok, some are great, some are bad, just like anywhere else.
The roads around here (Wisconsin) are generally pretty good.
Anyways, does anyone want to speculate on how long it will be before we start seeing heavy coverage of China and Russia?
Mike
Rebasepoiss November 12th, 2009, 09:07 PM The photo quality of street view has signigically improved if you compare the very new photos to the old ones...and that's great  . But sadly I don't think it will ever cover Estonia.
Verso November 12th, 2009, 09:58 PM So, has anyone noticed it's now much easier (faster) to explore (longer) roads in street view in Google Maps (by using that rectangle)? I haven't noticed it yet.

Will do! Already working in Poland, will reach Estonia soon, hopefully.

I suggest saving these kind of images as .jpg, since .png's load slow, and take a lot of space (this small picture is over 700 kb).

Fair enough:cheers:
Cicerón November 12th, 2009, 10:40 PM I recommend using a program called EasyPicture, it allows you to resize and change the format of a lot of pictures at once. That's how I made this (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=46004805&postcount=1250) :D
DanielFigFoz November 12th, 2009, 11:21 PM Chris, I resaved and re uploaded hat picture as jpg. Cicerón that looks like a good programme.

snowman159 November 13th, 2009, 07:53 PM That camera mount looks pretty damn tall. I guess they need really attentive drivers. A low hanging tree branch may be enough to do some damage to the expensive cameras on top. :)
It also explains why the new tunnel on the A86 West isn't covered yet.
x-type November 13th, 2009, 08:09 PM who is driving those cars? how could one apply for that? i've been searching the net, but i haven't found anything

Drivers are hired through Immersive Media. I found this article:
http://gizmodo.com/283287/immersive-media-hiring-camera-drivers-for-google-streetview
(Interestingly, in the requirements there's no word about a clean driving record - maybe that would conflict with the strong sense of urgency.)

Underneath the roadway, but elevated above ground, there's a railway station (the only elevated one in the city) which is part of the City Circle. Ever seen a double deck subway? That's what runs in Sydney.
At the end of the freeway, there's a tight 270 degree loop to climb to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
