ok not spectacular views but still a fresh glimpse into this new addition to our skyline.

Only the first 12 floors were ready (the lift was programmed to serve only these) and I managed to get into the sky-garden on the 9th floor. Here are the pics.

Upper floors seem more or less complete? They are like testing aircon etc. And I just saw the 'NTUC Centre' name lighted up at night :)

It didnt look as lush as could be. But this could be because not all the plants have been fitted/grown. It also needs a mini fountain IMO.

I will post another clearer pic of it. I bet it will become a smoker's corner.

according to kenzo tange's website (http://www.ktaweb.com/works/en_ntuc.html), ntuc centre is 153m?

RafflesCity
April 16th, 2004, 07:13 AM
Thats so cool!

I didnt know Kenzo Tange was involved in this project?

I believe thats the first source we've ever seen of the building's height :)

huaiwei
April 16th, 2004, 12:42 PM
Erm....wait wait.....that design dosent look like the final design.....it looks more like a proposal that never got built.

And it says "MAX" height, which would mean its the masimum permissable height of the tower rather then the actual height!

But at least now we know the maximum permissable height! :D

heirloom
April 16th, 2004, 06:00 PM
there was another proposal... for 'overseas union house' on the same site on kenzo tange's website... it was 202m i think... kenzo tange's website also have proposal for golden shoe carpark and another one, where they would both be developed into ugly twin 280m towers! i wouldnt mind two more 280m towers but they were just... ugly!

umm... also got... proposal (dont know if chosen) for cathay building redevelopment... look quite nice... the south east asia / china section should really be renamed 'singapore / rest of asia' section... like half or more of the projects are in singapore!

Is it? so far Tange's skyscraper designs have been quite interesting, employing geometric shapes...

Heres the unobstructed view of Shenton Way from the all-glass facade from the skylobby.

This was the building proposed for NTUC the site that was never built!!!!

You know what that means?

NTUC Centre is 135m high!!!

"NTUC Building Development

Site area: 3,680m2
Floor area: 47,840m2

Floors: 30 aboveground 1 underground

The maximum height allowed is 153m though, does it mean the current building IS 153m?

Cliff
December 4th, 2004, 02:21 AM
Opps, typo.:D

I suppose it should be 153m, at least from comparison, it is around the height of Hitachi Tower and Hong Leong Building nearby.

Whatever the case, I have drawn it!:D(at that supposed height)
Picked the easiest side to draw as the base was not blocked at all. On the right is the diagram of Kenzo's version by Rawin Sangsittayakorn

I read somewhere that One Marina Boulevard is 169m high.

Something interesting about its auditorium... The backdrop of its stage and the side facing the marina bay is full-glass. I was attending a seminar there... the organiser rolled up the blinds, I think, during lunch and we had a good view of the outside. :) Was pleasantly surprised then.

but, I didn't have a camera with me then... :(
