LOL, Ethiopia has officially reached its stage of "Beef", when it comes to hip hop, just like American rappers.

I think its a threat to Teddy Yo, his lyrics are amazing (I couldn't stop laughing)

Hadiya - Where is it spoken?...

never mind...just did some googling. i am guessing that jackets from traditional fabrics with traditional colors are done for the sake of this video or people actually wear those?

abesha

I believe they do wear it, although I really don't know much about the people.

From pics I've seen online, it seems that it's their traditional outfit.

Some Agew music - I know next to nothing about the Agew people or culture, but I've been told it's similar to Amhara.

Their dance seems to be a mix of different ethnicities (I see some moves I always associated with Wolayta and Dorze for instance), very cool.

Well, the Agew people are basically what Amharas were before eventually adopting a Semitic language. The Agew language thus forms the substratum of Amharic while still remaining firmly a Cushitic language.

vVLGVx6ro58

CopperWire is a collective comprised of Gabriel Teodros, Meklit Hadero and Ellias Fullmore (aka Burntface). The trio combine for an outer-space meets Ethio-diaspora exploration in the clip for “Phone Home” — which features footage of “the first hip-hop shows in Gondar and Harar (Ethiopia)” and NASA recordings of the cosmos. The music video also boasts appearances by Ethio-Jazz godfather Mulatu Astatke. Watch it above and grab CopperWire’s Earthbound LP, out tomorrow on Porto Franco Records.

Nice beat. Good music. What is Sawa Sawale?

indicates the act of walking, or movement of the feet as in a dance. Here, Flavor is indicating that the girl in question is light-footed—walking around easily from place to place or of nimble gait. He concludes that she may be a call-girl with the word Ashawo (prostitute)

Pretty much the sound that he imagine a hooker makes

Some was Nigerian? Ethiopian? Jamaican :?
The original is a little dirty so I'm not sure how it translated in the Ethiopian version

I accidentally ran into some Oromo music when trying to find some Somali lectures on Youtube. It sounds nothing like Somali, but you guys use similar beats!

Not Ethiopian, but the video is recorded in Ethiopia.

^^

Why is he singing about "Africa" when 90% of the video is specifically Ethiopia. Might as well call it "Made in Ethiopia".

^^ the music is about Africa[black people] in general, although the video mostly depicts Ethiopia and Ethiopians

I don't know if this is already posted

Axum: an Israeli HipHop/Reggae duo (1 of them is Ethiopian and the other is Yemenite).

I think this is their first English song

Cafe Shachor Hazak (translates to "Strong Black Coffee"): an Israeli rap group composed of Ethiopian Jewish teens (they're old by now since this video is old)

If people know of Ethiopian singers from countries other than Canada, U.S., or Ethiopia feel free to post

An interesting version of Tizita, parts are in English and it's a rock version - I like it actually. It's sang by an Ethiopian of Armenian origin. The audio version is better than the video version.
