View Full Version : High speed trains in Europe? www.sercan.de March 14th, 2006, 03:15 PM ask Kuvacci :) De Snor March 23rd, 2006, 09:02 PM Well that shouldn't be such a problem as the track (in Holland) isn't ready till then i think. HSA -combined KLM & NS- must be operative with their high speed trains by an agreement made in december 2001 where they stated and signed a contract for 15 years. The opening date in 2007 is not going to be made by Ansaldotrains cause HSA has to rent Traxx locomotives from SSBCargo (486. )which are now in use for freight traffic to haul passengerstrains. The safety system ECTS is not operative for the new trains meaning that even Thalys trains wont run on the high speed tracks. This is going to be a tremendous money problem for KLM & NS cause they didn't reach the ultimate date! Guess who's going to pay for this....the Dutch taxpayer Joka March 26th, 2006, 11:55 AM Maglev study for Eastern Europe http://www.transrapid.de/cgi-tdb/en/basics.prg?session=50de5e2e442671ec&a_no=153 http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/1586/eu1qh.jpg coth April 5th, 2006, 12:31 PM news about rzd and siemens shortly. Contract wasn't signed in march and now planned to be signed until end of april. Most probably it will happen during Russia-Germany summit in Tomsk on 25-26 april. $500mln contract will provide construction in Germany of 8 trains, where 3 trains will be dual-system (comparing to old $1,5bln plans with 60 trains). RZD still plans that other trains will be produced in Russia. They run only intrastate between Prague and Ostrava for now (358km in 3h 29m), but after Germany, Austria and Slovakia railway offices will permit operation of this pendolinos on their railroads, they will mainly operate on Berlin-Dresden-Prague-Brno-Wien/Bratislava routes. Czech railways speed record is 237km/h, here is short video (http://www.cd.cz/static/media/drahy%2011-1.wmv) http://www.scpendolino.cz/fotogalerie/pendolino02.jpg http://www.scpendolino.cz/fotogalerie/pendolino04.jpg http://www.scpendolino.cz/fotogalerie/pendolinox15.jpg.http://www.scpendolino.cz/fotogalerie/pendolinox10.jpg Since 1993 about 700km of 1440km main railroads were modernised for 160km/h speed, several tens kilometres were rebuild to straighten tracks.
