Developer:Meraas

The National reports that Meraas Development is "moving ahead" with its signature project in Dubai. You may recall the name Meraas from Cityscape Dubai last year, where they announced the Dh350bn (US$95.2b) Jumeira Gardens project. It turned out to be the last hurrah of the five-year property boom and the company disappeared as quickly as it had arrived.
Now, a year later, Meraas is planning to change the order of development and focus on select areas that could still sell in a slower market. And - surprise - that includes a manmade island off the shore of Dubai called East Bay Island where Meraas would build high end villas.
Tony Owen Partners in Australia won a bid last year to design the villas. Here are three of the renderings for your viewing pleasure.

You mean the grey blocks just behind Medcare hospital? Good spot!
izziere August 15th, 2010, 07:13 PM You mean the grey blocks just behind Medcare hospital? Good spot!
Yep - them's the grey blocks. They don't look that inspiring yet and BizzyBonita's comment must be about a different development, looking at the photos. A curious development style in this part of town.
Clearly aiming for the local market, but take a look at the photos on the hoardings on the way past:
1) A little girl running through a hillside of corn. A hillside?? Corn???
2) A little Arab boy playing football with a basketball. Ouch - that's gotta hurt.
SA BOY August 16th, 2010, 08:28 AM drove past Merass sales office and all locked up and every thing dying, looks like the lagoons sales office.
At least they could keep the irrigation going so it doesnt look abandoned

Owners plan legal action; Alpha offers flexible payment option to ‘defaulters’

Hundreds of residents in Skycourts project in Dubailand are up in arms against the high chiller charges, but say they are willing to pay if the charges are ‘reasonable’.
“The chiller charges are very high and we are unable to understand the exact charges since the metre readings are not clear. We, however, are not against paying, but the charges have to be reasonable. We are not defaulting… we are just delaying the payment,” an owner-resident told 'Emirates24|7' on condition of anonymity.
