Sunderland target Marcos Angeleri has said his goodbyes to team-mates at Estudiantes, ahead of his expected move to Wearside later this month.

The right-back, 27, visited the Estudiantes training ground in Buenos Aires for the last time yesterday, bringing to an end his eight-year spell at the club.

Sunderland are understood to have agreed a £1.5million deal for Angeleri, and the player has already agreed personal terms and passed a medical in the North East, although the move is yet to be officially confirmed.

I disliked the blue strip and I'm overjoyed at the new one, especially the trim/shorts colour and more discrete sponsorship. Reminds me of a previous away strip of my second club, Arsenal.

Sunderland's Jones set for £9m Stoke switch

Kenwyne Jones is expected to seal a £9million move to Stoke City after Sunderland decided the time was right to move on the big striker.
The Potters have long been linked with the Trinidad & Tobago international who, contrary to one report today, is in no desperate hurry to leave Wearside.

But the striker's motivation has looked low, his performance in Sunday's 3-1 pre-season loss at Hoffenheim was a huge disappointment and it looks like his days are numbered.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce hopes to press through a loan move for Manchester United's Danny Welbeck in the next few days.

If Jones goes, that could help Bruce with the Welbeck deal as United have been keen to ensure that any club taking the 19-year-old can give him a decent number of games.

Jones signed a new four-and-a-half year deal in January last year as Sunderland moved to head off strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs did not follow through their interest and Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has not been back in since.

Scouts from the continent were in Germany to run the rule over Jones at Hoffenheim, where the 25-year-old struggled to make an impact before being replaced at half time.

In fairness to Jones, the whole team performed poorly in the opening 45 minutes at the weekend, but his displays have been indifferent all summer.

One report this morning claimed that Jones "no longer feels that Sunderland's ambitions match his own", however a friend of the striker insisted this morning: "Kenwyne is furious that someone would say his ambitions don't match Sunderland's.

"That's not true at all.

"Kenwyne likes life at Sunderland and was only recently looking at buying a new apartment in the area."

Jones was a £6million signing from Southampton in August 2007 and has produced impressive performances at times, but at others has looked lacklustre.

He's scored 26 goals in 94 Premier League appearances for the Wearsiders and has played an important role defensively as well as in attack.

Stoke are keen to get rid of Dave Kitson and James Beattie and see Jones as the man to freshen their attack. They were also in contention to buy the forward before he joined Sunderland.

If the deal goes through, Jones would become the sixth player in three years to move from Sunderland to Stoke, the others being Danny Higginbotham, Rory Delap, Liam Lawrence, Danny Collins and Dean Whitehead.

I agree though, that it is a very large amount of money for a player unproven in the Premier League, but I retain every faith in Bruce.

Yeah Benty is well deserved, ---and I agree, --think young Henderson might well have won young player, --but still, --third in the senior awards not bad like.

Fantastic match today, spoilt only by a hideous piece of bad luck, inconsistent refereeing, and Wenger's whinging and generally shit personal conduct (plus twas a bit chilly). My other half is Arsenal through and through but sits with me amongst the home fans - interesting. :)

Elmohamedy and Henderson stood out in particular, as well as a solid tactical performance by Bruce. Thought the MOTD coverage was a travesty of the actual performance.
