Ilgar October 24th, 2009, 02:32 AM Leonardo Da Vinci Eastern Dimension
http://endir.az/photos/XRVYM_4674.jpg
Christianity’s greatest-known Renaissance artist, Leonardo da Vinci, may actually have been born of a Muslim mother who hailed from the Azerbaijan region nestled between the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian Sea. That was the theory explored in a lecture Wednesday at Canada’s National Library and Archives organized by the embassies of Azerbaijan and Turkey jointly. DaVinci researcher Louis Buff Parry presented considerable evidence, including partial fingerprint analysis of the master, suggesting that DaVinci’s mother was actually brought to Italy as a slave. DaVinci’s mother was a peasant called Caterina, the most common name given to slaves from Asia marketed in Constantinople (now Istanbul). Da Vinci’s father was notary Piero Fruosina. The two never married. Researchers are still seeking Caterina’s bill of sale, the most conclusive proof of maternal origins in Azerbaijan, a country bridging Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Parry presented considerable material in a lecture entitled “The Eastern Mysteries of Leonardo Da Vinci and His Mother, Caterina”. Background documents included a copy of a 1503 letter to Ottoman Sultan Beyazid II written by DaVinci in Osmanli- Persian-Arabic script. Artist Da Vinci was also a scientist, mathematician, architect, botanist, musician and writer, the epitome of a Renaissance man. Some believe him to be the greatest painter of all time, with world recognition of his Mona Lisa and Last Supper. DaVinci is believed to have visited his mother’s birthplace, where he sketched the Euphrates River headwaters juxtaposed with some Taurus mountain peaks. In one of DaVinci’s notes for a letter to the Sultan Bayezid’s Minister of Finance, the painter also suggests he would write the Islamic confession of faith. Research into the origins of Christianity’s most famous Renaissance figure continues.

That is armenian way to make everybody armenian. This list is showing people with different nationality.
The DaVinci researcher Louis Buff Parry is independent person from Canada he is even not Azeri. So be careful next time when you leave fake comments here.

Dr. Zoidberg October 27th, 2009, 08:59 PM Ilgar
please, do not post unproven facts and rumors. There is no need for such a dubious publicity.
Freddy Mercury has no azeri connections. His ancestors were originally from Iran, but to say that they were iranian azeri is a stretch.
Da Vinci!? I remember few years ago armenians were claiming he's one of them. Now you do the same disservice for azeris. What's the point?
and revisit your list again. Some of those names you've mentioned are hardly famous. While at the same time you forgot those who really left their mark, like Nobel prize winning physicist Lev Landau.

Ilgar October 27th, 2009, 09:58 PM Lev Landau
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/52/Lev_Davidovich_Landau.jpg/170px-Lev_Davidovich_Landau.jpg
Lev Davidovich Landau (Russian language: Ле́в Дави́дович Ланда́у; born January 22, 1908 – died April 1, 1968) was a prominent Soviet physicist who made fundamental contributions to many areas of theoretical physics. His accomplishments include the co-discovery of the density matrix method in quantum mechanics, the quantum mechanical theory of diamagnetism, the theory of superfluidity, the theory of second order phase transitions, the Ginzburg-Landau theory of superconductivity, the explanation of Landau damping in plasma physics, the Landau pole in quantum electrodynamics, and the two-component theory of neutrinos. He received the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physics for his development of a mathematical theory of superfluidity that accounts for the properties of liquid helium II at a temperature below 2.17 K (−270.98 °C).
Biography
Early years
Landau was born on January 22, 1908 to a Jewish family in Baku, in what was then Tsarist Russia. Recognized very early as a child prodigy in mathematics, Landau was quoted as saying in later life that he scarcely remembered a time when he was not familiar with calculus. Landau graduated at 13 from gymnasium. His parents regarded him too young to attend university, so for a year he attended the Baku Economical Technicum. In 1922, at age 14, he matriculated at Baku State University, studying in two departments simultaneously: the department of Physics and Mathematics, and the department of Chemistry. Subsequently he ceased studying chemistry, but remained interested in the field throughout his life.
In 1924, he moved to the main centre of Soviet physics at the time: the Physics Department of Leningrad State University. In Leningrad, he first made the acquaintance of genuine theoretical physics and dedicated himself fully to its study, graduating in 1927. Landau subsequently enrolled for post-graduate study at the Leningrad Physico-Technical Institute, and at 21, received a doctorate. Landau got his first chance to travel abroad in 1929, on a Soviet government traveling fellowship supplemented by a Rockefeller Foundation fellowship.
After brief stays in Göttingen and Leipzig, he went to Copenhagen to work in Niels Bohr's Institute for Theoretical Physics. After the visit, Landau always considered himself a pupil of Niels Bohr and Landau's approach to physics was greatly influenced by Bohr. After his stay in Copenhagen he visited Cambridge and Zürich before returning to the Soviet Union. In the period of 1932-1937 he headed the department of theoretical physics at the National Technical University's "Kharkov Polytechnical Institute" (now known as the Kharkov Mechanics and Machine Building Institute).
Great Purge
During the Great Purge, Landau was investigated within the UPTI Affair in Kharkov, but he managed to leave for Moscow. Still, he was arrested on April 27, 1938 and held in an NKVD prison until his release on April 29, 1939, after his colleague Pyotr Kapitsa, an experimental low-temperature physicist, wrote a letter to Stalin, personally vouching for Landau's behavior.

"I gave the presentation in question. Be it known, there were cartographs of the 16th and 17th centuries that show the word "Azerbaijan", written in Dutch phonology as "Atzerbatjan". These old cartographs were on display in the Chelsea Art Museum in Manhattan in early 2009 at the ItaliArabia exhibit! This should put to rest the statement "there was no Azerbaijan at that time". F.Y.I. "azer-baijan" simply means the land of the Azeris. "
Ilgar October 28th, 2009, 02:35 AM I agree.
Kasparov are Jewish-Armenian.
At least he was Bakunian but I think he feels himself more Armenian than Jewish. Otherwise he did not forget who helped him to make his first triumph while living in Baku. Anyway that is his problem.
robo_boss October 28th, 2009, 07:53 AM Who says he forgets the people that helped him?
Galandar October 28th, 2009, 02:46 PM People let's speak not only about famous azeries from Azerbaijan, but also all the people who are originally from the land of Azerbaijan regardless to their ethnic roots.
Besides, I don't support those Da Vinci and Freddy Mercury articles. Let's talk about what we have in reality
Dr. Zoidberg October 28th, 2009, 03:23 PM Guys, Kasparov doesn't consider himself being armenian, jewish or azeri. As strange as it sounds, he considers himself Russian. Half-jewish, half-armenian, born and raised in Azerbaijan, yet somehow he's Russian. That's his choice. And while he is said to be a real prick in everyday life, he is still the greatest chess player EVER.
Evertraveller October 28th, 2009, 04:17 PM Guys, I have to share a sad secret with you - Freddy is kazakh!
:lol::lol::lol:
OK, I'm kidding, let's be more serious on this topic.

That was part of his presidential campaign. The Russians would never give their votes to a half-Jewish and half-Armenian that was born in the Caucasus.
I dont know if he's a prick, but politics is definitely not his thing, he should stay out of it.

I do not know why some of them hate Caucasians and Jews so much? Who spreads Caucasia phobia and Anti-Semite ideas in Russia? Or I think they have just complex on this issue. That is sad :ohno:
Dr. Zoidberg October 29th, 2009, 03:57 PM That was part of his presidential campaign. The Russians would never give their votes to a half-Jewish and half-Armenian that was born in the Caucasus.
I dont know if he's a prick, but politics is definitely not his thing, he should stay out of it.
I think he does indeed considers himself Russian. He doesn't say it explicitly, but when asked why do you keep getting into russian politics, shouldn't you care more about Azerbaijan where you were born or Armenia he said that he doesn't care about Azerbaijan or Armenia and he's a patriot of Russia. Go figure :ohno:
As for him being a prick, unfortunately it is also true. As much as I admire him as a great chess player he's not a very nice person. He is said to be very arrogant, rude and has a dubious track record when it comes to dealing with people. All in all, he's just like Bobby Fisher. Both were great players and both had very serious problems with social skills. Some say that this is a side effect of being completely devoted to the game.

Kerim Aliyevich Kerimov (Azerbaijani: Kərim Əli oğlu Kərimov, Russian: Керим Алиевич Керимов; 1917–2003) was an Azerbaijani Soviet/Russian rocket scientist, one of the founders of the Soviet space industry, and for many years a central figure in the Soviet space program. Despite his prominent role, his identity was kept a secret from the public for most of his career.[1][2] He was one of the lead architects behind the string of Soviet successes that stunned the world from the late 1950s – from the launch of the first satellite, the Sputnik 1 in 1957,[3] and the first human spaceflight, Yuri Gagarin's 108-minute trip around the globe aboard the Vostok 1 in 1961, to the first fully automated space docking, of Cosmos 186 and Cosmos 188 in 1967, and the first space stations, the Salyut and Mir series from 1971 to 1991.

In August, 1941, he replaced the injured commander of a tank battalion, composed of 12-15 machines type T-26, BT-5, BT-7 and T-34.
In the fierce fights near the areas of Shostka, Bakhmach, Piryatin, his tankers fought to the last tank, while Aslanov personally led his battalion in the attack. In one of these battles, Hazi Aslanov, received two bullet wounds in his right leg and severe shrapnel wound to the head, but continued to remain in the service. When the battalion lost all of its tanks, the Major was recalled to the reserve in September, 1941. He also appointed of 10th deputy for the technical units, where he fought in the areas of Piryatin, Okhtyrka, Bohodukhiv and Kharkiv.[6] The next year, he received command of the 55th Tank Regiment.
Battle of Stalingrad
Later in 1942, he led the 35th Guards Tank Brigade from Stalingrad through Borisovo, Vileyka, and Minsk to Vilnius and Riga, and participated in the battles of Rostov and Taganrog. His brigade liberated the town Pleshinitsy. Aslanov was famous for his "thrust from flank" technique, which was launching an attack by heading straight toward the enemy, while other Soviet troops were sent to attack from the sides.[7]

Reza Deghati, born 1952 in Tabriz, Iran [1] is an Iranian-French photojournalist, who works under the name Reza
Biography
Philanthropist, idealist, humanist, architect and extraordinary photographer, Reza, as he is widely known, lives to shoot another day. No stranger to conflict, Reza brings image after winning image of never-before scenes to audiences around the world.
World famous for his intrepid explorer's style of capturing the world's most exotic places, Reza has covered most of the globe for National Geographic Magazine. Numerous films about Reza's work have been produced by National Geographic Television, most notably Frontline Diaries [2] , which won an Emmy Award in 2002. Reza later served as Creative Director for National Geographic's most viewed documentary, Inside Mecca, in 2005. As part of its Exceptional Journeys series, National Geographic released a DVD in May 2008 looking at Reza's career as a photojournalist, with special features highlighting his extensive humanitarian work.
Reza’s images are iconic, but there's more to the award-winning photojournalist than just his camera. In 2001, he founded Aina (Persian for The Mirror), an international non-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering afghan women and children through the media. By providing educational opportunities in the field of communications and multimedia, Aina aims to equip afghans with the skills required to build a self-sufficient, democratic, and unified country. In 1991, Reza served as a consultant to the United Nations in Afghanistan, helping to distribute food to populations in war-torn parts of the country. For his exemplary dedication to such humanitarian causes and because of his work with Aina in Afghanistan, National Geographic awarded him the title of National Geographic Fellow[3] in 2006.
Reza is deeply committed to the education of future generations. He spends much of his time as lecturer, trainer, and visiting professor, giving presentations and running workshops on global issues. His humanitarian work and photojournalism have been recognized by international institutions and universities, including George Washington University, Stanford University, Beijing University and the Sorbonne in Paris.
Reza's photographs have been exhibited in major cities throughout the world. War+Peace (2009), an exhibit featuring thirty years worth of Reza's photojournalistic adventures, was held at the Caen Memorial (Peace Museum) in Normandy, France. One World, One Tribe (2006), was the National Geographic Museum's first outdoor exhibition in Washington D.C, and [4], Reza's landmark exhibition in Paris, drew a million visitors.
Over the last three decades, many of Reza’s photographs have graced the covers of National Geographic Magazine, with many more featured in major international publications. He is also the author of seventeen books, including War+Peace, the first in a series entitled Masters of Photography by National Geographic, and most recently, Sindhbad, Reza's adaptation of the seven journeys of this mystical character from the classic tale, A Thousand and One Nights. Childhood Promise is the story of discovery, narrated by three people, about a promise made by Reza to his son, Delazad.
In 1996, Reza won the Hope Prize for his contribution to a joint project with UNICEF in Rwanda entitled Lost Children's Portraits. In 2005, he was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite, France’s highest civilian honour, for his philanthropic work in the areas of children’s education and the empowerment of women in the media. In 2006, Spain’s Crown Prince Felipe presented him with the Prince of Asturias Humanitarian Medal on behalf of National Geographic. The same year, Reza received the Honor Medal[5] from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Journalism “in recognition of his lifelong contributions, through brilliant photojournalism, to justice and dignity for the world’s citizens." He also received an award recognizing his humanitarian work from the University of Chicago.
In 2008, Reza became a senior fellow of the Ashoka Foundation, and in May 2009, received the Honorary Degree of Doctor Honoris Causa[6] from the American University of Paris (AUP) for his achievements in journalism and humanitarianism. In October 2009, he received the Lucie Award[7] for Achievement in Documentary from the New York-based Lucie Foundation and in May 2010, in New York, the Infinity Award of ICP (International Center of Photography) honoured Reza for his latest report on Afghanistan; “Once upon a time, the Russian Empire”, in Photojournalism category. Reza is currently planning a new photography project with residents of the Sicilian suburb of Librino, as well as another major project in Burkina Faso.

"Dünyamız dəyişir. Sunami, inqilablar, digər tərəfdən yeni Çernobıl riski. Bunlarla yanaşı, dünyanın müxtəlif bölgələrində davam edən qarşıdurmalar. Lakin bu dəyişmə, hər birimizin əvvəlki insanlığımıza, təbiətimizə dönməmiz üçün, sevmək və sevilmək üçün bir imkandır. Bu dəyişmə bizə ümid, inanc və sevginin bütün xəstəliklərin dərmanı olduğu gerçəkliyinə inanmağa izin verək", deyə Sami Yusuf klipi barədə danışarkən bildirib.
İnanc, irq, din, fərqli keçmişlər insanları bir-birindən ayırır, fərqləndirir. Gəlin bir dəfəlik sevgi və hörmətin bu ayrıseçkiliyin öhdəsindən gəlməsinə və bu yolla bir olmağa çalışaq", deyə müğənni əlavə edib.

We all hope one day Iranian people will sweep away this regime in their country. And democracy will come to Iran 25 million people its citizens of Azeri origin will have equal right to write to read and to study in own language as some other small ethnicity groups in this country.:)
We could solve out this problem by now if Iran was also cooperating with Azerbaijan on solving out this issue.:)
SoroushPersepolisi March 29th, 2011, 11:38 PM insallah, :)
azari should be taught in all schools as the second language instead of arabic. nobody even likes arabic, so many people tried to get rid of arabic but the regime refuses to :(
nd all of us azaris put together in iran are apprx 18 million not 20, but whatever :D we are mixed with non azeri speakers so its all a big mish mash :D lol whatever, same origin , thats all that matters
hopefully one day all problems in the world get fixed and everyones lives in peace :)
