View Full Version : Lithuanian Sub-forum Management

I propose these changes:

1) To make this Thread sticky and to make it the place where we could propose, discuss the changes we want to be done with our Lithuanian sub-forum.

2) To create the Highrises sub-forum inside the Lithuanian one.

3) To make the following Threads sticky:

- New Basketball Arenas in Lithuania
- VILNIUS - Full Summary of Projects
- Projects in Lithuania
- VILNIUS - Infrastructure projects
- KAUNAS - Projects
- Klaipėda - projects of today and tomorrow

Guys, what do you think? :)

whatever...

First of all i think we need a Lithuanian mod, someone who could have the authority only on this section (if that can be arranged of course) in order to better organize and run it.

1. Yes, i guess we should.
2. Yes as well.
3. No! That would make 7 sticky threads on the first page of the section. And making them sticky wouldn't make much sense since by having a separate highrise subforum, we would barely have enough threads to fill a single page. :) We can though make a couple of them sticky - both Vilnius threads. Kaunas and Klaipeda could be made sticky when someone from those cities would actually come around and start posting regurarily in SSC.

As well, threads should be renamed in the same pattern, let's say "Vilnius - Projects and Development", "Kaunas - Pro...." and so on.

I think we should discuss this with the other forumers in Icebar.

Fair enough. So sticking the "VILNIUS - Full Summary of Projects" and "VILNIUS - Infrastructure projects" threads? What do others think?

Too many sticky threads, don't you think. ;)

Now having your own section you can make so many threads for so many things, so don't hesitate. Good luck.

Yeah the best thing about the separate section is that you can spread to many many threads :cheers1:

Should I add a census poll to this thread?

Like "Where are you from:" Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Telšiai, Utena, Vilnius, diaspora, not Lithuanian.

Well sure it's under consideration. Matthieu will have final say and it's up to Swede and AtlanticaC5 to run the initiative. It still has to be determined which sections will have a separate mod, for the beginning I think that there will be one mod that will run all three Baltic forums.

^ I think there are more suited people for doing this job, the one's that are more experienced in these forums, from the Latvian side I would give a vote either to Gatis or Nomels. But anyway, thanks for the offer! :)

What about we don't do any changes for the time being? I'm sure the thread subscription option can help people to follow their favorite developments. I think it's a good idea to keep things simple for now and if there will reeeeealy be a need in the future, new decisions will be taken then.

OK, a word from a not Lithuanian who is a great fan of you & your country :grouphug: : I agree with what some people have said before, too many stickies turn me off. Second, the mod question. While he would of course be super and respected by all, I don't think Gatis would take the job because he is much too busy. Yet I think there are plenty of other fine, suitable candidates among the ranks of the Baltic forumers who would do an excellent job. And I do believe that the three Baltic forums should have their own mod, particularly in the beginning when it's a matter of the layout of the findividual forums. No point in having to run to Swede or Atlantica every time in order ask for subsections etc.

I just noticed Pansori sees things otherwise. Fine by meee!

Mods don't deal with forum structure, admins do. In case of Euroscrapers it is Monsieur Matthieu.

Please don't get me wrong. I only stated my point in regard of sticky threads. I think there should definitely be at least one moderator dedicated to the Baltic forums because for the current ones the workload may seem too high.

Ok, it seems that we all agree on two things:

1) To make this Thread sticky :)

2) To pick up the Baltic Mod.

RipleyLV suggested Gatis or Nomels for this job. I agree with SEAfan that Gatis might be to busy for running the job.

Are you saying that the mods can't even do such simple things as to institute subsections within a subforum without asking for permission from on high and, if approval is granted, having it done for them?

Oh, I see. So the mods can't do such basic maintenance stuff like that & are just cops in the sense of keeping law & order ... interesting.

Edit @Singidunum: Oh, and one more thing: would it be possible for you to retroactively change the poll to show who "voted" for what so that we can see who identifies with what LT city etc.? :)

@Big Cat: I hate to disillusion you, but I guess all the Baltic forums can hope for is to get a Mod to their forums. There are only 10 Admins in all of SCity. :)

Well, atleast currently a Baltic mod is something we all should aim for. Maybe we should think of persons most capable of the job and then make a poll for electing our mod (truly democratic way :)) Sry,I can't help it,I'm addicted to polls in recent times :D.

As nominations for the new Baltic Mod (if it is decreed that there be one) come in, please bear the following in mind: This person must:

- have sufficient time
- not have had too many squabbles with other forumers in the past
- be sufficiently familiar with all three Baltic countries
- not support his own country vs. the others
- should have been around for a while & know people

whatever...

Noone's talking about anything major, just some tidying up.

I mean let's face it, due to existence of miestai.net, we only need this to inform those few interested in what's going on in this part of europe. So if we agree on doing this, we should do it right

I just discovered something though. The layout appear differently in some other browsers. I use Chrome, and it gets the same in IE. But in Opera the images merge, like this:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/cityw/Other/Previewopea.jpg

Don't know how the layout works in Safari or Firefox. But i will make a bar and put between the image lines so it gets the same for all browsers.

Its supose to look like this for everyone.
