CasaMor October 30th, 2009, 01:20 AM Fez is ugly!
Isek October 30th, 2009, 01:54 AM ^^
I do not get it. Fes is definitely ranking above Casa, Agadir and many other cities in terms of beauty!
In terms of old history Fes is the most interesting place in Morocco.
CasaMor October 30th, 2009, 04:12 AM History yes! But Casablanca, Agadir... are more beautiful than Fez, it's sure! ;)
Isek October 30th, 2009, 11:59 PM ^^
Oki, different people different taste. For me Casa is butt ugly and Agadir is boring. For you it is vice versa.

Oki, different people different taste. For me Casa is butt ugly and Agadir is boring. For you it is vice versa.
You need a lot of money to love Casa, Rabat and Marrakech! ;) Agadir is good for old tourists! ;)
Tomb Raider October 31st, 2009, 01:00 AM Fez is horrible, old fashionned and dirty. Only few parts in the downtown look clean and presentable.
nadorboy October 31st, 2009, 04:03 AM Last time i visited Fes was a very long time ago. I believe it was in 1998. As i could remember it was very clean and absolutely beautiful at that time! The places in the pictures are ok! But the area around Sidi Harazam is more beautiful! Does somebody has pictures of Sidi Harezem in Fes? Please post!!
teystoon October 31st, 2009, 08:57 AM tnx for the pictures Isek they r really nice.. well as u said tastes r different but guys come on u saying that fez is ugly and dirty.. well this part u talking about is the old medina, it's old and kept everything the same.. so what about casa and rabat's medinas?? rnt they ugly , old fashioned and dirty too? fez's old town looks thousand times much better, bigger, finest and richest than any other old town in morocco and the world too.. if u had to compare cities let us know which parts i mean between old towns or new towns.. tnx.. one more thing, you can feel the beauty of it only while you're there and at the end tastes r different
btw the medersa by the qarawiyyine mosque on top which u forgot the name Isek is named Cherratine medersa

Agree with you (by the way, Rabat's medina is ultra clean). People sometimes say a lot of bullshit on that forum...
Macaza October 31st, 2009, 06:14 PM You need a lot of money to love Casa, Rabat and Marrakech! ;) Agadir is good for old tourists! ;)
Maybe you can buy love, but you can't buy beauty ;)
Anyway, there's no accounting for taste. Last summer, I visited Fes for the first time and I was very impressed. It's magnificent and a beautiful piece of world heritage.
aaabbbccc October 31st, 2009, 08:26 PM I never been to fes but I heard it has the highest crime rate in all of morocco's major cities i read it in let matin and a magazine
Tomb Raider October 31st, 2009, 11:29 PM I never been to fes but I heard it has the highest crime rate in all of morocco's major cities i read it in let matin and a magazine
Highly doubt it, Casablanca must be Number 1 ;)
adamelstar November 1st, 2009, 01:04 PM History yes! But Casablanca, Agadir... are more beautiful than Fez, it's sure! ;)
Casa beautiful???? It's not Paris!!!!
You must not know Morocco to say that !!
Fes is the most beautiful city in Morrocco and in the Arabic Maghreb, the first imperial city, Bab boujloud, the largest medina in the world, the first university in the world, a beautiful architecture...
Casa is nothing in terms of beauty compared to Fes, all Morrocans say that!!!
The money in Casa is the propriety of Fassi's Families:)! like all the Morocco lol
Moreover to love a city money is not important,
adamelstar November 1st, 2009, 01:10 PM Highly doubt it, Casablanca must be Number 1 ;)
Number 1 of nothing!!!, I love Morroco It's my country and Casa is a Morrocan city but compared to other cities in Morroco Casa is not beautiful like Fes, Marrakech, chaouen, Rabat also is most beautiful than casa with an architecture very beautiful, Tetouan with an andalusian medina, the rif's mountains are magnificent, Tangier is the city of the painters Matisse, delacroix because of the brightness...
Casa is the economic Capital, the biggest city but She doesn't represent the beauty of Morrocco!

It seems that in general most of the young and educated Europeans (students e.g.) have some very different taste on what is beautiful! No one here would consider Casa or even Agadir beautiful. We love old medina in Fes, we love old moroccan tradition, handicraft and food. Sorry to say but most of your modern city things are just cheap crap for us by just trying to imitate crappy decadent Western lifestyle....
btw the medersa by the qarawiyyine mosque on top which u forgot the name Isek is named Cherratine medersa
Thanks. Are you born in Fes? I realized that they are updating Google Maps with lots of informations even in Fes. Hopefully they add all sites and all major derbs.

Oki. No problem. But many Moroccans say that Casa would be nothing without the old aristocratic people mainly from Fes that moved to Casa to do business.

I've nothin against Fessis but their city is ugly and boring, that's why they left it! hahahaha ;)
U don't understand, I don't hate Fez but for me it's just a boring historic city! ;)
Isek November 2nd, 2009, 02:17 PM And what do you find interesting in Casa? Do not get me wrong and i just have been to Casa three times, but it did not impress me at all. Hassan II and the seashore outside the city is nice but that's all.
Give some European a reason to spend more than 1 night in Casa. Tell me, i am curious about.

My family is in Casa, my friends, everything in my life, I live in Casa since I was born! Casa is maybe very boring if you compare it with Paris, London or Madrid but it's Morocco's most important city, you can find everything here, things that you can't do in Fez or Agadir, you can do them here! If you prefer Fez it's good for you then go to Fez! ;) If I want to go to Fez I can take a car and go there! :)
Isek November 2nd, 2009, 04:02 PM Oki, for sure private things makes the city important to your life. But i was asking whether you can give me some hints about visiting Casa next time. So i can go there and spend some time. Some nice places, bars or theater or some nice outlook.

It's really a pity that they are not updating pictures with high quality. The quality shown now is nealy useless for all that tiny paths and and houses in the old medina. I really love medina of Fes it's so different from our "western life"..
CasaMor November 2nd, 2009, 11:41 PM ... and i thought Tangier would be THE future city of Morocco.
Sure! Tangier has a great future! I love Tangier! :) BUT Casa is the economic city, the city of 5millions...! I'd love to see Tangier shining in a near future!
Isek November 2nd, 2009, 11:43 PM Oh no, not that 5 million again! Got that data from Arab wikipedia site? :ohno:

+/- 3millions for the city! +/- 5millions for the agglomeration! ;)
Isek November 3rd, 2009, 12:10 AM Well, Gran Casa is a subdivision of Maroc having somewhat 3.8 million (assuming we trust that data). I strongly doubt that the agglomeration is exceeding Gran Casa. If you count Mohammedia, Mediouna, Bouskoura you better define a metropoltian area that is also including Berrechid for example.
But back to Fes! Why do so many Moroccans do not like Fes? It is because many old rich families come from Fes?

Just Fes? Oki so the Moroccan Non-fessi thinks that Rabat, Casa or Marrakech is somewhat above Fes? I do not get it. I visited every big Moroccan city and i can not find any city-property that makes Fes unattractive. For me Fes is the most sympathic Moroccan city. Marrakech is Disneyland, Casa is ugly and Rabat is arrogant.. ;-)

Tetouan was the dirtiest city of Morrocco when HII was King... Fez is class not tetouan, casa ... But Tetouan has a beautiful medina I think.
THe most beautiful and interesant cities of morrocco are the four imperial's cities:
FES
Marrakech
Rabat
Meknes
Secondly we can add Ouarzazate, Tangier but not Agadir!

Do you understand the statement "Each to his own"?
Tetouan was the dirtiest city of Morrocco when HII was King
False because under H II, Morocco was the dirtiest country on earth.
... Fez is class not tetouan, casa ... But Tetouan has a beautiful medina I think.
I said i like Chaouen's medina, so i don't understand why are you bashing at Tetouan
adamelstar November 4th, 2009, 01:07 AM False because under H II, Morocco was the dirtiest country on earth.
:
No It's not false and I am an MRE and during HII each years when I arrived in Morrocco Tetouan was miserable and dirty IT's the true, it's my experience!!! ALL the Tetouanis say that the region of tetouan, mdiq, fnidek , sebta, was very miserable!
I know Morrocco very well, I have been To each region in the kingdom and I can say during HII chamal was the most miserable region in Morrocco!
Moreover during HII RABAT, Fes, Marrakech ... was not dirty but the Chamal was miserable but now the things have changed with Mohamed VI politics and it is Better!
God bless Morrocco!
zefreaky November 4th, 2009, 02:20 AM The first time I went to fes was this summer, and didn't like it, but it has something special, I don't know what but it has it, didn't went to downtown, but some people told me that now it's cleaner than before, and I saw that in other parts like the main avenue and other areas, touristic areas btw...
About Casa, I think that you have to be born or live in Casa to like it...I'm Rbati (born n' living but not really Rbati) and as most of Rbatis they don't like the lifestyle of Casa to noisy and crowded, maybe to spend the day there but not to live in it...
intensivecarebear November 4th, 2009, 01:28 PM ^^ Oops sorry!

perhaps more pics should be posted:lol:

You seems to like talking about past, so let's talk about past...
Tetouan before H II was the most industrialised city of Morocco, thanks to the Spanish and was the administrative capital of the country after Rabat (second most powerful city in taking decisions).
So why are you talking about H II? Everybody knows that he hated the North, besides that, he did nothing to improve the economy of Morocco nor to fight illetracy..., he only increased his own wealth and destroyed not only Northern Morocco's economy and infrastructure but the economy of the whole country!
Miserable??? You must be confusing Tetouan's region with an other one
I remember you that Marinasmir, Restinga, Kabila, Cabo Negro... were built under H II So we wasn't that "miserable"!!
during HII chamal was the most miserable region in Morrocco! Moreover during HII RABAT, Fes, Marrakech ... was not dirty
I repeat, all the Moroccan cities were dirty and neglected during that period Tangier, Tetuan, Fes and Casablanca...
And many Moroccans will agree with me on that!!
By the way, I was 11 years old when H II died, so I don't know much more on that period, on the other hand, I know M 6 is doing quite well and all Morocco is enjoying the highways, the hospitals, Tanger med and the futur Nador west med...

Thats the only sensible thing you've said.
Sorry Izek, This is the last time I answer adamelstar (I hate nationalism)

Amicalement,

Tomb Raider November 5th, 2009, 12:44 AM Nice to see you BTW, and nicely taken pictures. Unfortunately, I feel ashamed when I see some parts of Fèz which are about to collapse. Finally, they are starting to revive it little by little, but it needs a very important maintenance process.
The aerial tramway project will undoubtedly give it a new look ;)
aaabbbccc November 5th, 2009, 01:15 AM Will fes ever boom like Marrakech ? All I have to say I hope fes gets better and good luck to city of fes and its region
I never been there so I have no opinions I have heard horror stories good stories boring stories regular stories etc about fes but I do plan to visit
these pics only represent a tiny fraction of fez more pic please !! la ville nouvelle for example would be nice and any new suburban areas being built like other moroccan cities ??
Isek November 5th, 2009, 12:38 PM Will fes ever boom like Marrakech ?
Fes will hopefully improve, but please do not follow the path of Marrakech. Fes should save its traditonal charakter and should not be turned into a Disney Land for European and American snop people. I like Fes like it is!

Marrakech is still a traditional city, even if it' gets more and more developped, it's people are still traditional and it's medina too! :)

Les aeroports sont biens , j'en ai jamais douté moi! ;)
Superanouar November 6th, 2009, 05:25 PM Wow ! The train station doesn't look nice. It looks OUTSTANDING ! Even better than Marrakech one in my view (and as you know, I'm marrakchi :D). I really didn't expect It would look that nice. Great surprise. Thanks zefreaky ;)
PS : Think about posting that pic in the corresponding thread :)
zefreaky November 6th, 2009, 08:14 PM Better than I expected, thanks for the pics. No pics of the interior of the airport ? :)
no, camaras aren't allowed inside the airport, in seaports neither btw...

Every city is beautifull, from Tanger to Lagouira !
Tomb Raider November 7th, 2009, 12:01 AM no, camaras aren't allowed inside the airport, in seaports neither btw...
Sorry but this is complete bullshit, why on earth would they impose such a futile law ? Especially that it's not the case in Mohammed V Airport, etc.

Actually I'm not sure about taken photos in the airport, but in seaport yes it is prohibited, from the car entrance door untill you get into the boat...

Moroccan law?
Because no else in the world such a law exists! Well, maybe in North Korea neither :lol:
teystoon February 22nd, 2010, 09:05 AM It's really a pity that they are not updating pictures with high quality. The quality shown now is nealy useless for all that tiny paths and and houses in the old medina. I really love medina of Fes it's so different from our "western life"..
true and that's why i love it too.. the medina kept everything the same as it was when it first built.. it's considered i live museum.. i just wish responsibles share the same opinion with us and help the medina get improved.. well they did something but it's not enough.. it needs more !!
