About Isfjellet, it really isn't under construction. They may've been working on the foundations for quite a while, but as long as OSU doesn't have any tenants (at least not officially), we can't say that it's under construction either. Most likely it will be only a concrete floor for at least one more year.

I am doing something new now, instead of only including threads for the highrise we have in this section im including all active highrise projects we have in the first post (will take a while to get the whole picture). I have taken away the pictures of never built/completed projects.

^^You're so evil. "Die" is such a hard word.:lol: I guess the project is hanging in a thread, that I'll agree on. Don't know if there ever were hold in the highrise part either, but that hasn't been discussed as a problem in this matter eitherway.

The latest developments, though, is that just before the elections, it was decided that they want to send the complaint all the way to Miljøverndepartementet, and then they hoped a change of government could lead into a new viewing of the case. Now we know that didn't happen. Still they wanted to send it to MD, but only a week or two before they were about to have the last municipal board meating before sending it over, Steen&Strøm said they didn't want to send it over, because they want to make some changes. All I know of this, is what was refered to in the summary from the meating:
Steen & Strøm vurderer om de skal endre planene i kommunedelplan Vinterbro til å
frigjøre areal på sørsiden av veien ved å flytte plasskrevende varer til nordsiden.
This I interpret to say that the low-rise part will be moved to the side of the road the shopping mall is today, but the highrise-part + ski hill will be kept as currently planed. I don't know if that will increase the chances of getting the plans approved or not. But I'll try to keep you posted!:)

Was listening to some awesomely good music this evening, so started on making links to the threads in this section as requested. Came up with a pretty advanced one (turned out to be a tricky one with hours of cutting and shit to make it work properly). Looks cool, but will be hell to edit later on! Also, it doesn't work as it should in Opera (pixel problems on the top), so use Chrome or IE (haven't tested with FF, Mozilla or Safari) when viewing this thread, it works perfect there!

The links is ready in post 2. Only city and development threads up though. Ill add a different one for the other threads (All new Norwegian highrises, Norwegian railroad thread, Norwegian construction update etc.)

Nope, Oslo Plaza is not tall in world sense. There is also a reason why there are many threads with few replies on the 100-199m section in the world forum. A building need to be either tall or have a great design. Norway lack both...

In many of the threads on that section they don't even mention lower buildings, suchs as China/Dubai threads. z0rg's China thread has a limit on 300m as an example, and he have nearly 200 buildings on the lists...

So when competing against (and Norway's highrises suck BIG time!) that i don't expect many replies in my threads.

well, its a matter of definition i guess. when walking in the streets, its hard not to call a 100 m building tall, though when dealing with it online on sites like this one with hundreds of much taller buildings, its understandable that if might not be considered this.

anyways, my point was merely that i wouldnt have written "no tall buildings" in the intro text, as it might work as a huge turn off for many and you say youve fixed this, so theres no further reason for this discussion ;)

A few corrections tough:

Kilen Brygge, Start Stadion, Hotel Exporama, Hotel Ørnen: Shouldn't these be labelled under "approved" ?

Fjordporten: ROMs building is proposed at 95 meters height. 80 meters is what PBE recommends in the områdeprogram. This doesn't mean it will be 80 meters as politicians very often disagrees with PBEs recommendations.

Patologibygget: As far as i know it will not be increased in height, it will only be 10 floors as it is now.

As i understood it Kilen Brygge was not all cleared yet. Haven't even seen a proper design for Start Stadion yet, so i'm not sure if i want to put it on approved (also moved Lerkendal Tower on proposals, since they might arrange a competition). Moved Exporama to approved now though, hate to put it there, the building is butt ugly...

Ørnen is a competition, will see a winner before moving it to approved.

(in QUICK LINKS | NORWAY) But if you have seen some of the activity in the NORWAY | Projects and Construction thread i have been posting a lot of projects preparing a larger overview. It just takes time... trying to simplify it using this site, not many projects yet though: http://urbika.com/countries/view/161-norway

You are free to join and add projects if you like, since i do not have the force to do everything by myself! (i also have more than just Norway in my head) :P

I can try to make a list for lowrise projects you can add yo quick links if you want, would be cool with a map too with numbers so you can see exactly where they are located. But then I probably only add the urban/interesting ones.

On this site i've been working on China mostly, but i have added 66 projects for Norway as well, a lot of work remains...

So i am asking, wouldn't it be awesome with the complete overview of all projects (not just highrises)? In that case, how would you like to do it?

The problem isn't just to add new projects, as much as it is to always keep the different post up to date. Keeping status on project on sites you may not even be able to visit, is extremely difficult. And there are a lot of projects in this country. I'm baflled by the amount of projects inside this city alone:) But sure, I would love to TRY to help:lol:

exactly, in my mind its hard enough to keep eyes on the highrises in Norway. I am unsure of the lists i have now is entirely correct, some have been dead for years it seems and might not even deserve to be on the list.

Its actually no point of having gigantic overviews of hundreds of projects if they provide inaccurate information and gets outdated after a few months unless someone keep looking into each project all the time.

That is a problem with SSC, since only one can edit the posts, using Urbika everyone can edit all projects at any time. It also connects to a map making it easier.

In my mind, it would be great to get more ppl using urbika, and just add projects there as a start. Try to narrow it down to a city/few cities for those who add projects. When we get a few projects i can make overviews in ssc, with links to urbika and ssc threads/posts. An idea of how i might have wanted to do it.

I started a new thread on Oslo in the "Cityscapes and Skyline Photos" subforum, called "Only Oslo, Norway (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1157023)."

I just thought I'd tell you all about it here... Everyone can post as long as it's not "100" pics in one post. I just want more people to know a little about our wonderful little city. :)

Well, i ask again! I've gotten Kjetil and City of Rain to create accounts and start adding. If more of us do this and try to help the site it will be great!

Now we also have the media's attention, more than one media (SSC, Urbika and YIMBY will get attention). Its a perfect moment to get more people interested. (well, not much will happen before newyear, but time goes fast)

Remember, Urbika to get the overview of the projects, Skyscrapercity for discussion about the projects, thats how we want it to be! :)

If you wonder what is happening, i closed All new Norwegian highrises (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=427124) and Norway | Projects and Construction (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=496299) threads. I created 5 threads for the 5 regions we have. I think its better if we merge highrise projects (that used to be posted in the All new Norwegian highrises thread) and other lowrise projects (that used to be posted in Norway | Projects and Construction thread) in one thread, but divide them into our regions, Nord-Norge, Midt-Norge, Vestlandet, Sørlandet and Østlandet. It will look far more organized this way, and easier to navigate through. If you disagree or agree, speak!

The first post of each thread i will have a easy overview of the hottest projects in each region, and a link to the post where you can find more information about it. Same as i've done to Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger development threads.

I have a question though, since Follo and Østfold threads are rather unactive, why not merge them with the Østlandet thread?

Nice work! :okay: Boscorelli is also doing great job with Swedish quick links and if Danes would manage to make their quick links thread more organized,then N&B forum would be very well accessible for outsiders.

Btw,reading about Urbika forum makes me cautious. I really hope it doesn't go down the same way for you guys as it did for Finns & Lithuanians. Their Talo & Miestai forums killed off entire SSC related scene and now both sub-forums are least active here :(

^^ Urbika isn't a forum, its similar to Emporis, but ten times better in all ways than Emporis. Urbika will never be what SSC is, so it won't reduce any activity here. Urbika is just to manage a overview of this gigantic flow of information spread across SSC and other sites. :)

Well,I checked it out and your right :) It still requires pretty massive effort before Urbika can reach Emporis level in terms of projects amount,but it looks promising (and hopefully less inaccurate than Emporis)

Why does nobody talk about Kristiansand on this forum? There is a lot of posts of small towns in Norway, but almost nothing about the capitol of southern Norway.

Yes and its old... Btw Kristiansand is not that small compared to other small towns from Norway in this forum. Kristiansand has the famous Sørlandsparken, kvadraturen, Dyreparken and a lot of Projects going on.

That's very nice and everything, but as CoR pointed out, there's a lack of active (?)forumers from that part of the country. You are more than welcome to create posts about projects from Kristiansand and Agder.

Hi. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to take this discussion. I have a small suggestion to meet some of the criticism against this subsection. From my part, it's only a temporary suggestion that will have to be evaluated at a later point. If it doesn't offer anything, only a more tidy workspace for CoR, I don't see any value in it.
My reason for only making a "fjordcity"-subsection and not all of Oslo, is basicly I'm afraid people won't find our projects anymore, + I don't want a full scale change from day 1. If we see the need for putting all Oslo-related threads there at another turnpike, we will do it then.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose? Then you are left with another section where the majority of treads are from Oslo with a few national ones in between, which is exactly what CoR wants to avoid with the suggestion.

Agree with Galro, that would again make it a bit messy. Besides, its not many other active fjordcity projects YET.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking, mjoks. Let us for a compromise try with only the fjordcity projects, then later evaluate if the rest should join. Oslo-projects, especially rhe main thread (oslo development) should stay at the fornt page until further.

Looks like Sweden is going to get one subsection for Stockholm. Sweden has more than twice as many posts been posted each quarter than the Norway section, yet they are unsure whether its enough activity. I really don't see a need of having Oslo in its own subsection yet, though the more i think of it the more i support starting with a Fjordcity-subsection. We can always change things back or change things a different way if we don't like it.

I would prefer to have own Oslo sub section rather than Oslo projects being split between a sub section called fjordcity and the normal Norwegian one. It seems like a very messy solutions to me.

Firstly, I think the criticism put forward by a user that doesn't want to read about Oslo projects should not be the focal point of this discussion. I found the critique misplaced, based on emotion and slightly immature.

The arguments for separate threads with regard to structure and viewability are undeniable. I think people that find interest in development in Norway prefer a 'tjuvholmen-thread', a 'DNB Nor'-thread and so on, because of its structure and its informational first posts, also there are more room for discussion and it'll be easier to dig deep into the matter. Obviously, if you have an enormous bias against Oslo, you would want its projects to take up as little space as possible, but why should those be taken into account? (The same approach could of course be appointed to Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim if it weren't for the lack of interest, updates and users, at least that's how it is today.) Finally, because of the international nature of this forum, it is highly natural to showcase the major projects in our capitol in dedicated threads. A HUGE BIG thread will,I fear, be a 'tumleplass' for the locals, i.e. more internal, not less. In the Stockholm thread it's impossible for people that haven't visited the city to know what projects belong to where.

Secondly, I think it could perhaps be a good idea to make a Fjordcity subsection.
Pros:
- Fjordcity is arguably the most interesting development in Norway at the moment. Thus easier for visitors to navigate to the 'good part'.
-Fjordcity will take up less place for projects both from Oslo and other parts of the country
- We don't need a BIG fjordcity thread. With its own subsection there are room for even more treads, this way users should find an appropriate thread no matter what they discuss. If there's talk of something fjordcity-meta-stuff, then I guess there will be a sticky overview-thread with room for stuff like that.
Cons:
- Not big enough?
- Oslo divided, perhaps somewhat unnatural. Vestbanetomta, for instance, Fjordcity or Oslo? Krystallklar is part of the same skyline as Barcode, and are related in many ways.. a shame to put those in different forums.

Are there any good completed projects you miss from the tread above? I thought I would include Arkitekturmuseet and Smykkeskrinet too, but are there any projects from different parts of the country that are worth a spot?

And if anyone have some good quality pictures of either operaen, Akerselva Atrium, Smykkeskrinnet or Arkitekturmusset: can I use them?

I was quite surprised by it too. The smallest city beside Ringebu (only 1 326 inhabitants) was Hamar with 28 777 people. No idea how Ringebu managed to be included.

To market the Norway section i opened Skyscrapercity Norway (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skyscrapercity-Norway/144697235622152) on Facebook.

Like the page and you get updates of the things happening in the Norway section as often as i post (ill try to post several times a week if we get new renderings, projects etc.).

Edit: started two closed sticky threads to get peoples attention, ill remove at least the thread in the Oslo section in a few weeks.

Btw, concerning more sub-forums within the Norway section, here is a few proposals.

Sub-forum for Trondheim and/or Bergen?

What about a subsection called Architecture/Arkitektur (or something)?
- A section where we can post threads on single projects that have been completed. This section can also work as a archive for projects that has been completed such as the KLP Bygget, Holmenkollen, Bybanen etc. Threads will not be full of posts as we see in development threads in our other sections, but it will be easier to find completed projects and so on. Its a place where we can also discuss historical architecture and threads concerning older buildings and not just the most recent completed projects. This will be a section for projects and architecture that isn't in development as the other sections here are. I think such a section can open many new options we don't have or haven't used anywhere on N&B yet and i have proposed it several times before, but few seem to see the need. As another hint, the section will be similar to Architecture (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4), Classic Architecture (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=440) and Rate our Talls (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=89) (though not any poll threads such as in this section, just discussion threads(picture threads about single projects).

If I were to follow my heart I would say yes to a Bergen sub forum, but my head tells me it's not a very good idea.. I have a feeling it would be like a ghost town where I'm the only poster, and that even fewer non-Bergen members would contribute than now. I am not that sure. Forumers that is interested in Bergen projects try to find out about it no-matter where it is and if you have to click one more time to do so, and if they were all to be collected in one section it would be more orderly and easier to find. Also, having a Bergen subsection would be a nice bate for potential Bergen visitors checking out the section. It give room for some more Bergen threads as well making more projects see the daylight as they now drown in the Bergen Development thread.

Its somewhat the same i ask as i asked in the Icebar concerning N&B section. Do you want to attract local forumers (making more subsections and threads on smaller local projects) or do you want to attract international forumers (all in for English, no separation, keep it as it is, nice and general, big threads = lots of activity, though it only feels like more activity since all this activity is centered in one or two sections).

I think the amount projects that deserves their own threads are more important when we consider if there should be more sub-sections, than the fact that there aren't many bergensere here.

Concerning a Trondheim subsection, Trondheim is a smaller city than Bergen, and with less projects, though we have quite a few active forumers from Trondheim.

I'd love to create more threads about projects in Trondheim, but since they will just drown in the Norway section anyway i don't really bother about it and post them in the Tr.heim development thread, where its easy for us old timers to follow up on what gets posted, but its all very messy and is less attractive for visitors to consider to register here.

So i am for a Trondheim section, and maybe a Bergen section.

I know that I visit forum threads even more seldom myself, now that they're in another section.. but okay, it's your call.

Just to compare to Romania, some of those sections has very few threads pr. section, less than what Bergen and Trondheim will have.

Yep, but they have more activity than we would have.. I fear Bergen and Trondheims sub sections would be almost dead.

^^ Let's test with a Trondheim section to begin with and wait just a bit with Bergen then since i agree we don't want dead sections, still in the longer run i think we have a possibility in making out of it better then now. :)

What about a subsection called Architecture/Arkitektur (or something)?
- A section where we can post threads on single projects that have been completed. This section can also work as a archive for projects that has been completed such as the KLP Bygget, Holmenkollen, Bybanen etc. Threads will not be full of posts as we see in development threads in our other sections, but it will be easier to find completed projects and so on. Its a place where we can also discuss historical architecture and threads concerning older buildings and not just the most recent completed projects. This will be a section for projects and architecture that isn't in development as the other sections here are. I think such a section can open many new options we don't have or haven't used anywhere on N&B yet and i have proposed it several times before, but few seem to see the need. As another hint, the section will be similar to Architecture (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4), Classic Architecture (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=440) and Rate our Talls (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=89) (though not any poll threads such as in this section, just discussion threads(picture threads about single projects).

Second that! Being new on the forum I spent some time finding all the Stavanger/Sandnes related projects.

No offence, but are there really enough interesting (read: not suburban) projects going on to justify an own Stavanger/Sandnes section?

^^ maybe there are, but right now i don't think we need it since we also need forumers that can do some hard work and be really enthusiastic about such a section, not becoming inactive a year later.

Greater Stavanger would be 2nd only to Oslo if we just looked at the projects...

Þróndeimr: It would be nice if you could update the International Norwegian tread every once in a while. I have tried a little bit myself, but I don't have the same overview over every project like for example in Trondheim like you do.

^^ sorry, i just can't find the time to update all the threads, right now i want to use most of the time to get things done in this section, then i have to take the tour on to the next later on. The list of things i want to do grows way too long. I need a clone! ;)

In a few weeks time i will see to another section is added as discussed.
